God of Shinobi
A soft, melodic hum drifts through the heavens, filling the air with a bittersweet warmth.
Her steps are light and graceful as she walks across the cobblestone floor, her gaze drifting over the towering pillars surrounding her. She stops before one of them, placing her right palm upon its cool surface, her fingers tracing gentle lines over the ancient stone, savoring the contrast between her warmth and its chill.
With a tender breath, she channels her power into the pillar. It begins to resonate, a deep, rich vibration rising like the swell of a symphony, and soon a haunting choir of voices joins the tune—a harmony woven with threads of love, loss, and an aching longing. The melody stirs something deep within her, a forgotten part of herself that yearns for a distant time she can almost touch.
Her eyes glisten with unshed tears as she turns, retracing her steps, each one a painful echo of memories spent with him and the other Shades. The moments flicker before her like fading stars, each filled with laughter, sorrow, and the quiet comfort of togetherness.
It feels like a dream—a dream she wishes, with all her heart, she could fall into again.
Just one more time.
Even if it's only for a moment.
"Would you dare to challenge a being far stronger than me?"
Even now, the weight of that question lingered, pressing heavily upon her shoulders. She had taken up the responsibility he left behind, bearing witness to the fall of the Gods as the world crumbled under the force of an unstoppable power.
None had the strength to oppose her, yet as the sole overseer of time, she found herself helpless to save everyone as the world reached its end.
To reclaim her throne, a being older than time itself—ancient and powerful beyond reckoning—rose to defy the Heavens.
Under its might, the throne of the Gods shattered, unleashing calamity upon the world.
Drawn as if by an inevitable fate, he entered the fray, standing by their side.
With his aid, they managed to push her back, turning the tides of a battle that had once seemed unwinnable. Hope surged as victory appeared within their grasp—until, in one crushing moment, their hopes were trampled.
The light that had briefly illuminated the world dimmed, leaving only shadows in its place.
"I want you to flee. Leave Teyvat and never return."
The memory of Teyvat in ruins lingered, as vivid as if it had only happened yesterday.
The image of the abyss creeping over the land haunted her mind—a dark corruption staining the once-pure world, like ink spreading over a white canvas. Humanity had fallen, and the Gods who once protected them had been cast down.
The world that had thrived in beauty and life was now corrupted, teetering on the edge of oblivion.
Even as a ray of light managed to pierce through the darkness, in the end…
It, too, succumbed.
But he…
He was not alone.
He had never been alone.
Just as she had promised him long ago, her voice echoing through time and space:
"Time will always be on your side."
What could have driven her to use all her power to save him?
She owed him nothing.
He had been cold and indifferent when they first met, aloof, as if he couldn't be bothered with the affairs of the world or with anyone else. She had once hated that version of him.
So…why?
Why would she risk her very existence to preserve his?
Was it for humanity?
For the safety of Teyvat?
The Heavens themselves had acknowledged him as the true father.
She knew the extent of his power, knew that he was the Strongest.
She had seen his battle with Phanes—a clash so fierce that it proved no one in Teyvat could have stopped him.
Yet for all his strength, he was neither arrogant nor careless.
Cold, ruthless, and quick to voice his disappointment, he had been closed off from everyone. But she, patient and persistent, had been the first to chip away at his impenetrable shell.
Bit by bit, she broke through, finding within that distant, powerful figure…someone who had given up on life. She had seen the loneliness in him, the emptiness that seemed endless. But around that sorrow was a warmth, a quiet, unspoken comfort that pulled her in, enveloping her in a trap she never wished to escape.
She had become the only one he trusted, the only one who listened to his tales of ancient times. She absorbed every word, her emotions shifting with each story he told—excitement, sadness, joy, and perhaps…love.
She could see the relief in his eyes, a softening of the bitterness, and over time, they had grown closer. But that closeness had also led her to a discovery—a dark and sinister truth lurking beneath the abyss, hidden in the shadow of their world.
He had warned her of a future they couldn't escape, and though she tried, she couldn't prevent it.
And so, she watched, helpless, as the strongest of them all fell before their eyes.
It felt like a dream—a nightmare that defied belief, an impossible tragedy.
But it happened.
They could do nothing but witness his demise.
The Heavens wept that day; she still remembered the relentless rain as his body was absorbed into hers.
Time stopped in that instant.
She had promised to protect him, yet she had failed him.
She refused to let the one she truly loved die like that.
Though her power over time was absolute, she couldn't accomplish her plan alone. To save him, she received the help of the other Shades. Asmoday [the Shade of Space, manipulated the fabric of existence, separating his dying body from the encroaching darkness, scattering him across countless realities. Ronova, [the Shade of Death, channelled her energy to suspend his soul and power in an uneven balance alongside rewriting his destiny over his defeat to assure victory. And Nyssa [the Shade of Life] restored his vitality, rewriting his life over his dying fate.
His original body was preserved by the Goddess of Wisdom, holding his essence in a place where he could one day return.
Without the Four Shades, her plan would have been impossible. Each had played a part. Phanes, the First Descender, had fought valiantly to buy them time but had fallen in battle.
They all had sacrificed something.
So now, please…wake up!
In the past, the Four Shades—without his presence, they would fall under Phanes' control.
Without his authority, they would be left to create their own fractured law and order.
In a world shattered by war and destruction, he had been their light, the one who gave them purpose and a reason to protect this realm.
Though they had once overtaken Teyvat by force, he had never condemned them for it.
Instead, he had taught them the path of true governance in a world without gods.
She had even accepted the hatred of the Seven Sovereigns, determined to atone for her past sins.
That's why…to repent their past sins - this cycle of samsara—the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth—had to end.
Victory in this final war would be his.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of approaching footsteps. She recognized the presence immediately. This would be her last farewell to another person she cherished. Retracting her hand from the pillar, she stilled the harmonious tune that had filled the air. Removing her veil, she turned, her lips curling into a soft smile as she faced her sister.
For one last time.
This time, she hoped with all her heart…
that the Heavenly Principles would listen to her.
If not…
No!
the Heavenly Principles must trust her.
The Heavenly Principles had to understand.
There would be no other chance.
After all,
This was the final Samsara.
"Sorry, Asmoday, this is the last time you'll see me."
Chapter 11:
His fated end
The Heavenly Principles despised many things, but none more than the unknown and those who dared defy her law.
The mere existence of one Naruto Uzumaki troubled her deeply.
He was powerful beyond reason—a force that defied explanation.
She had seen him clash with Andrius, the mighty Lupus Boreas, who fell effortlessly beneath his strength. It was undeniable that he was a candidate for the Seven, yet she knew almost nothing about him.
He had disrupted the natural order, an anomaly with enough power to defy her laws. He had saved Vindagnyr with Havria, the Goddess of Salt, an act of transgression that awoken her from her slumber. She had felt anger rise within her, a wreath at this intrusion. Yet, she had chosen patience, holding back her judgment… and perhaps that had been wise.
Istaroth, the Goddess of Time, stood at his side.
She shuddered at the thought—would Ronova, the Shade of Death, also on his side?
It was unthinkable.
No, she refused to entertain the possibility.
This was 'her' world.
He had no right to control it, to threaten the order she'd laboured to sustain.
Yet, there he stood—this man of shattered fragments, like broken glass, sharp and gleaming with danger.
What was he?
A young god with so much power?
The thought defied belief.
Asmoday couldn't understand why Istaroth regarded him with such loyalty, as though he were her saviour, her hope.
What did Istaroth see in him?
The Heavenly Principles' thoughts broke as the distant melody of celestial choirs filled the God's Palace—a song that shimmered with promises of the future. Her heart quickened as she moved toward the sound, yet when she arrived, only silence awaited her.
And then, footsteps.
The air stilled, and time frozen.
She turned and saw Istaroth, standing across from her, with veil lifted, and a gentle smile on her lips, she saw her hair cascading like silk over her shoulders.
"I know you're angry," Istaroth's voice was soft, carrying a sweetness that touched Asmoday's guarded heart. "And I understand that I may have overstepped your order."
With quiet grace, she watched the Goddess of Time stepped forward, wrapping her arms around her sister in a gentle embrace. "But this is my sin… for loving Teyvat and everything in it."
Love.
That emotion— those mortals threw around so freely, binding them together in ways she couldn't understand.
What did it mean to Istaroth, this love she spoke of?
"How many times must I tell you?" Asmoday replied, her voice taut. "Stop wasting time on these foolish notions." A shadow of disappointment clouded the Heavenly Principles eyes as she demanded, "What…exactly are you hiding, Istaroth?"
The Goddess of Time only smiled, releasing her embrace but keeping Asmoday's hands clasped in her own, her gaze soft and sad. "I can't tell you everything," Istaroth admitted, her voice carrying a weight of regret. "I'm afraid of making the same mistakes. But you and everything in this world…you're all fragments of something far greater."
Silence settled between them; a silence almost comforting.
Asmoday searched her sister's face for hidden intentions, but all she found was Istaroth's gentle smile.
"Will you trust me this time, Heavenly Principles?" Istaroth's voice wavered as she lifted her sister's hand to her cheek, seeking solace. She could feel Asmoday's warmth…so warm despite that cold demeanour.
In the distant past, countless realities had been spun into existence—all to protect him. And in each of those countless timelines, she had watched him fall, again and again, worlds ending in unbroken cycles of misery. For a god, even one as powerful as she, this reality was a burden—a suffocating, endless ache. With each cycle, she grew weaker, death inching closer, as if the universe itself was urging her to let go, to surrender to the darkness swallowing their world.
But she refused to give up. In this final reality, she had seen a glimpse of hope.
Havria's existence had changed things, and his existence here was different—stronger, somehow. Perhaps in this branch, they could finally break the chains of fate.
Seeing the confusion flicker in her sister's eyes, Istaroth let out a soft, almost wistful laugh. She studied Asmoday's expression—a mixture of curiosity and scepticism, almost vulnerable.
She reached out one last time, feeling the weight of this farewell.
Her time was running out.
"Sister, I need you to trust me," Istaroth said, her voice cracking, eyes filled with a longing that spoke of lifetimes spent waiting for this moment. "This is my decree…" she trailed off, her lips clenched before she shook her head. "No, this is my last wish as one of the Four Shades. He was once part of this world—a world that time itself has all but erased. He is the true Progenitor of Teyvat. Stand by him, sister. Guide him through this chaos and help him restore order."
Asmoday listened, her mind clouded by more questions than answers. A bitter smile twisted her lips as she pulled her hand back. "You're asking a lot from me," she sneered, her voice harsh. "And still, you won't give me the truth."
Istaroth's smile faded, but her gaze remained unwavering. "There exists someone far stronger than you or me. Trust him… and help him defeat her."
A grimace crossed Asmoday's face.
"Riddles after riddles." Asmoday noted out of annoyance.
Is it that hard to be honest?
But she swallowed her pride and forced herself to ask.
"Was it…the Abyss?"
Istaroth hesitated, even now unable to answer with certainty. The being could command the abyss, but was that being truly part of it? Only Naruto knew the truth, but for him to reveal it, he had to survive.
"The Four Sovereigns are on the move," Istaroth finally replied. "Guide him to them; he must destroy them all. It's the only way he'll reclaim his strength."
Asmoday's eyes narrowed as she considered her sister's words.
The Four Sovereigns—those wretched dragons who had once stood as gods in Teyvat.
Even weakened, they were fearsome.
"Why," Asmoday asked, her voice taut with frustration, "do you put so much faith in him, this…nobody?"
The fierce expression softened as Istaroth's cheeks warmed, her eyes gentle.
"Because I love him more than the world itself."
Asmoday's eyes widened, momentarily struck by the simplicity and strength of her answer.
Love.
Again.
Could that truly be enough?
Her thoughts were interrupted by Istaroth's gentle touch on her forehead, flicking it in a rare show of affection. "And he isn't a nobody," she chided, smiling even as her form began to fade. Her outline shimmered, flickering like a dying ember. "This is it, Asmoday…The power he gave me kept me here longer than I'd expected. But this is it, sister. I won't bother you again. Once it's over, you too will awaken from your slumber."
And then, just like that, Istaroth was gone, vanishing in a burst of golden light. The air was thick with her lingering warmth, her scent hanging in the stillness.
Asmoday clenched her fists, feeling the emptiness settle over her.
Alone again.
Left in the dark, haunted by fragments of a truth that eluded her.
But…
She was not as heartless as others believed.
"Very well," she whispered to the silence, her voice softer, trembling. "I shall honour your final wish my dear Istaroth."
For the first time, she let herself feel the ache, the quiet, piercing sorrow.
In that moment, she made her choice—
not out of duty,
not out of pride,
but for her sister,
for her final wish.
For humanity.
For…
.
.
.
..
love.
Ei slowly stirred from slumber; her chest tight as she struggled for breath. Through her blurred vision, she caught glimpsed a familiar shade of pink moving on top of her.
"Ei!" a voice cried, filled with relief and joy.
The electro goddess found herself wrapped in a tight embrace, and she gasped in pain as blood trickled from her lips. A firm hand playfully smacked the pink-haired figure.
"Give her some space, Miko," Saiguu scolded gently.
"But, Saiguu!" Miko protested, the remnants of dried tears still visible in her eyes. She whined as Saiguu tugged her away, leaving Ei slightly dazed and trying to make sense of it all.
"Are we... dead? Are these heavens?" Ei murmured, her eyes scanning their surroundings. She spotted Chiyo and Sasayuri resting nearby, their bodies battered, yet their breathing steady as they recovered from the brutal clash with the Sovereign.
That Electro Sovereign—calling herself Raijin, a title buried by the sands of time—had been more powerful than anything Ei had ever faced. An intense wave of despair washed over her as she clenched her fists, realization striking like lightning.
"Saiguu! What happened to Makoto?" Ei's voice quivered with desperation.
The silver-haired kitsune's ears drooped, her expression turning somber. Ei felt a hollow ache as she replayed the terrible moment of Makoto's fall, that final slash searing into her memory. Her heart burned with rage, but her body, drained and weakened, could do nothing but bear the weight of helplessness.
"I'm sorry, Ei…" Saiguu's voice broke, guilt thick in her words. "We were nothing but a burden. Our weakness… it cost Makoto her life."
Miko lowered her gaze, shame and sorrow clouding her young eyes. She had watched the battle unfold, powerless to help, haunted by her own helplessness. Tears began to fall, her shoulders shaking until Saiguu's comforting hand found hers, grounding her in her grief.
Silence filled the space, each of them lost in the despair of their failings, of what they had lost. Their sadness was a raw wound, laid bare as they mourned Makoto's absence. All they could do now was put their hope in the stranger who had saved them.
"But…There may still be a sliver of hope," Saiguu whispered softly, recalling how Naruto had saved everyone from their supposed to be demise. But Ei, lying back down, could only stare blankly at the wooden ceiling above.
"What hope is left without my sister?"
Before Saiguu could answer, a flash of golden light filled the shelter. The brilliance was almost blinding, and instinctively, Ei rose to her feet, preparing herself to engage.
"Saiguu, run!" she shouted, her voice laced with panic. She was ready to protect everyone, but in the next instant, something—someone—embraced her tightly.
"Ei… I'm so relieved," came a familiar voice.
Ei's eyes widened as she looked up in disbelief.
"Makoto?" She rubbed her eyes; fearing it was just an illusion. Just to be certain, she pinched herself hard, feeling the sharp sting yet she felt that wasn't enough
Makoto watched as hers' sister fist sailing on Ei's own cheek.
"W-What are you doing?" Makoto exclaimed; eyes widened in surprise.
"I... I had to be sure I wasn't dreaming."
Saiguu laughed, and with a gentle bow, greeted Makoto. Then she turned her gaze to the figure standing beside her.
"Thank you, Lord Naruto, for saving us."
Naruto's eyes softened as he nodded, then looked down at Miko, who ran to him and hugged him, her tail wagging. Saiguu watched in surprise at Miko's display of affection, while Makoto smiled and Ei frowned slightly.
"Who are you?" Ei asked, still wary.
Naruto smirked.
"It's only polite to introduce oneself first."
Ei's eyebrow twitched, and she answered curtly,
"I am Raiden Ei, the Shadow Shogun of Inazuma."
Naruto nodded, inclining his head. "I am Naruto Uzumaki... Inazuma's saviour."
Ei's brow furrowed, but before she could respond, Naruto turned to everyone.
"No matter what happens from here on, I don't want anyone intervening."
Confusion flickered across their faces. Ei's lips parted. "What are you talking about?"
He gave her a reassuring smile.
"Trust me."
The shinobi watch as Makoto placed a hand on his shoulder, her voice tense as she warned, "Be careful, Naruto. She defeated us with ease."
Saiguu standing behind them voiced her concerns, "About the civilians…"
Naruto placed a hand over his chest.
"Don't worry, as long as I'm here, no one will die."
With a reassuring nod, he casted them one last glance, "I will leave a clone here as well."
He could feel their worried, especially Ei's who was confused and the rage burning inside her.
The shinobi of course ignored that, walking out of the wooden hut, he cast the horizon one last glance. The sky was stygian abyss, with lightning flickering in the expanse of darkness, the scene reprimanded him of the Fourth Shinobi War; where the rain pouring down the heavens relentless. He could feel the wind brushing passed him, the gust was harsh and cold.
In the distance, he could feel the tension rising, blue chakra collided with golden, clashing onto each other; fighting over dominance.
The Sovereigns…cannot be trusted.
Istaroth had reprimanded him of that.
But he wished…at least…to know how they [the Sovereigns] truly feel about him.
With a sigh, he pressed his palms together, gathering his chakra as arcs of energy crackled around him, illuminating the darkened skies. Slowly, a translucent triangular barrier began to form above Narukami Island, shimmering with an otherworldly brilliance. The barrier expanded, spreading outward like wings, casting a protective veil over the city below.
"Wait, take me with you," Ei begged, rushing forward before abruptly halting in her tracks. Her eyes shifted to the sky, noticing the barrier he had created with his power.
So much power… just for a barrier.
Does that mean…
"You…" The shadow Shogunate frowned, watching as he entered the barrier.
He cast her one last glance yet refused to answered her.
Ei lowered her gaze, guilt weighing heavily on her.
A stranger had stepped into their affairs, forcing to bore their burden.
Her lips quivered, but no words came forth. She could hear his footsteps fading into the distance. Each second felt like an eternity, yet she couldn't force a single word past her lips.
Why…
Why would a stranger help them?
What goal does he have in mind?
Her heart churned with conflict.
She was the Goddess of Inazuma, their protector—but her title felt meaningless against the might of the Sovereign.
She had failed her people.
She had lost the battle…
But to trust him…
Is this truly the answer?
Why would a nobody risks their life for their small nation?
Her feelings clashed, leaving her speechless.
She was worried.
Worried for his safety.
What could a single person do against someone as powerful as Raijin?
And yet… a part of her whispered that she should trust him.
To lean on him.
Ei watched his back as he continue to walked away.
His words echoed in her mind: assuring her that no one will die.
That's why…
Just this once, she entrusted the will of Inazuma to him.
"Take care…!" she shouted, her voice trembling.
He raised the back of his hand in acknowledgment as his form fading away.
The shinobi gaze hardened with steely resolve as he took a single step back, bracing himself. The air around him thickened with a palpable energy, swirling as his chakra built to unimaginable heights, causing the very earth beneath his feet to tremble. His eyes sharpened, a glint of fierce determination blazing within them, and he could feel every ounce of his strength pooling into this one strike. He could feel the presence of those who trusted him, those he had sworn to protect, and he knew failure was not an option.
With one mighty leap, he soared into the heavens, chakra exploding around him in torrents of radiant gold and blue. The sky erupted with swirling winds and flashing lights as Naruto rose, his silhouette framed against the heavens in an awe-inspiring display of raw power. He gathered his hands together, molding his chakra into a Rasengan so immense it looked as though he held a newborn star in his hands. Its glow grew brighter, spiralling outward in a dance of blue flames and golden sparks.
"SAGE MODE ULTRA MEGA CLUSTER RASENGAN: VORTEX!" he roared, his voice echoing across the land like the thunderous call of a storm.
In a blinding rush, he launched the Rasengan forward, hurtling towards the heavens where the mighty Electro Sovereign had her attention elsewhere. The Rasengan blazed through the sky, tearing through the clouds with a vortex of power that expanded as it flew, becoming an unstoppable, spinning maelstrom of energy. The sheer force of it caused the air to split with a sonic boom, ripples of chakra surging outward like tidal waves, shaking the entire island and stirring the seas far below.
"I shall feast upon your body and reclaim everything you have stolen from me by force!" Darkness roared, her voice seething with fury, echoing across the battlefield at his taunting smirk.
The shinobi smirked, his expression defiant, and in a blur of motion, he charged forward.
Darkness mirrored his expression, her lips curling upward as though she had anticipated this exact move.
After all, this wasn't the first time she'd fought him.
And just as she expected…
He would create and delivered a Rasengan her way.
But before she could react, an unseen force struck her from behind.
A spiralling sphere of condensed chakra slammed into her back, its sheer power bending her barrier until it fractured, cracks spreading like spiderwebs through the air before it shattered in a thunderous explosion. The force of the attack tore through her defences, the shockwave levelling the ground beneath her feet and sending shards of rock and debris hurtling in all directions. The spiralling attack surged into her body, crackling with lightning as arcs of energy lashed out violently, scorching the ground beneath.
In a devastating crescendo, the sphere detonated in a brilliant flash of blue and golden light, the impact ripping a massive crater into the earth. The ground heaved and split apart, fissures racing outward as molten rock spewed forth from the seismic force. A towering plume of energy and debris shot into the stormy sky, blotting out the horizon for miles. The air itself trembled, a deafening roar reverberating across the battlefield as the surrounding landscape was obliterated in an instant.
Her body hurtled forward, propelled directly toward the shinobi.
He wasted no time, delivering a quick jab to her midsection before spinning into a devastating roundhouse kick that sent her soaring skyward.
"The sky isn't yours alone to command!" Naruto declared, his voice booming as lightning crackled at his fingertips. Raising his hand to the heavens, his chakra surged with raw power.
"Lightning Release: Spatial Shatter!"
The skies themselves seemed to bow to his will as lightning streaked from the heavens. The fabric of space around her warped and twisted before fracturing under the weight of his attack. The lightning struck her with impossible speed, cutting into her skin and piercing through the dragon scales this body so proudly bore.
Golden ichor spilled from her wounds, dripping like molten sunlight.
Time seemed to slow as Naruto descended like a thunderclap, his fist connecting with her stomach. A deafening roar of lightning reverberated through the land as a golden flash illuminated the battlefield. Darkness plummeted to the ground with crushing force, striking the already-scarred earth and leaving behind an even deeper crater.
Her vision blurred, her body battered and broken.
Dust clung to her tattered attire, and her form was wreathed in white steam from the sheer force of the blows she had endured. As her vision cleared, she saw him—hovering above the crater, his eyes locked on hers.
"What's wrong? Done already?" the Shinobi asked, his tone laced with mockery.
Darkness narrowed her eyes, catching sight of the translucent barrier that shimmered faintly around him. His smirk was different now—there was an air of dominance, of unshakable confidence.
Everything about him was different.
How could this be?
He was stronger—far stronger than any other version of him she had faced.
What's… going on?
Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to her feet.
Her open wounds sealed themselves in seconds, the golden ichor vanishing as her body regenerated. Neither side moved, their gazes locked as lightning raged above them. Chains of electricity lit up the storm-torn sky, each flash mirrored in their eyes.
"I will tear that barrier off of you," Darkness growled out of frustration, her voice low and venomous.
Naruto's grin widened.
"That's the spirit."
The storm howled in fury as the rain poured down with relentless intensity. Their overflowing chakra collided in a storm of pressure so immense that everyone in Inazuma could feel it, trembling in fear of the battle to come.
This fight would decide the fate of Inazuma.
And unknown to many, it would shape the destiny of Teyvat itself.
As thunder roared, so did their battle begin.
Darkness vanished, her speed blurring her form into nothingness. Tuning into nature itself, Naruto closed his eyes for a moment, sensing her movements through the flow of energy. He spun in an instant, catching her fist mere inches from his face. Her hand was cloaked in lightning, a miniature storm that detonated upon impact, consuming them both in an explosion of energy.
But when the smoke cleared, Naruto was unharmed.
"Do you really think you can win against me?" she spat; her voice laced with defiance.
Naruto's grin only grew wider, his gaze burning with determination.
"Of course."
Her lips curled into a chilling smirk.
Suddenly, her dragon-like pupils shifted, their form twisting into something ancient and terrifying.
"Those eyes…" Naruto's expression darkened, his instincts screaming danger as he covered his distance.
But Darkness raised her hand, her smirk widening into a predatory grin.
"Universal Pull."
'Even with this distance…!'
The shinobi's eyes widened as an invisible force yanked him toward her. Darkness smirked; her hand glowing with ominous black flames as she channelled her chakra into her fist. The flames surged forward, colliding with his barrier. For a fleeting moment, the two powers clashed, locked in a struggle for dominance.
But then he noticed it.
The flames… they were alive.
His chakra was being drawn into them, devoured as if the fire itself were sentient. The inferno grew larger, feeding on his energy, and with each passing second, its power surged. The barrier that shielded him began to melt, cracks spreading across its surface before shattering entirely.
The flames consumed him.
"I've won," Darkness declared coldly, brushing dust off her arm as she watched the fire continue to rage. Her gaze remained fixed on the silhouette within, crumbling to the ground and succumbing to the all-consuming blaze.
She never expected to resort to this technique, but it seemed underestimating him had been a grave mistake. Throughout countless realities, this was the first time she had revealed the Rinnegan. It was a tool of ultimate judgment, a cheat code existing solely in her domain.
After all, …
This was her jurisdiction.
Darkness tilted her head to the sky, her eyes catching the overlapping stygian clouds, flashing with chains of lightning that reminded her of her own tormented past—a reflection of the self she had abandoned long ago to reclaim her authority over this shattered world.
At last, it was over.
A smirk graced her lips as she closed her eyes, a wave of relief washing over her.
"It's done," she whispered to herself.
She turned her gaze toward the horizon, where she could see Celestia loomed in the distance, its ethereal form hovering ominously. Her eyes locked with those of Asmoday, who sat atop her throne like a queen of judgment.
"Didn't I tell you, Istaroth? Your attempts are futile," Darkness sneered, her voice dripping with defiance, mocking the Gods that had dared to stood against her way.
Asmoday narrowed her eyes.
For a brief moment, her elemental energy flared as bright as the sun itself. But then, she leaned back on her throne and chuckled softly, the sound carrying through the Palace whilst she repressed her thirst for battle.
"I'll leave the rest to you, Naruto Uzumaki," she murmured, her voice laced with amusement.
In this game of chess, she was merely a pawn awaiting Istaroth's next command. But when the order came… whoever this Darkness was, she would devour her.
Darkness turned her gaze back to the smouldering flames where the shinobi's body lay burned and broken.
He was dead.
And yet…
Why did something feel wrong?
Suddenly, the wind shifted.
It grew colder, more violent, and the relentless rain froze in place, suspended mid-fall.
The world itself seemed to cry out in warning.
Her senses flared, alarm bells ringing in her mind.
"What is this…" she muttered, extending her hand toward the flames. With a swift motion, she absorbed them, along with the essence of what had once been Naruto Uzumaki. His chakra, warm and radiant, clashed sharply against the cold void of her own.
But her expression darkened, confusion flashing across her face.
"What's this?!"
Her voice was sharp, her beautiful features twisted in frustration. He was dead. She knew he was dead.
So why…?
Why hadn't her authority returned to her?
"To think you possess the Rinnegan," a voice spoke from behind her.
Her eyes widened in shock, and she spun around to see him standing there.
"And that flame…" he smirked, pausing mid-sentence when he saw the expression on her face. His silence turned to a low chuckle, and soon, laughter echoed across the ruins of Inazuma.
"Sorry," he said between breaths, his grin widening. "That was just my clone. Shall we start round two?"
"You!"
A clone?
She had been battling a clone this entire time?!
"I see…" Darkness muttered, lifting her hand to unroll the long sleeve of her regal attire, revealing shimmering lilac scales. Naruto's sharp gaze followed them as they began to shed, one by one.
"I should never have underestimated you, Naruto."
One.
Two.
Three.
Three scales fell from her skin, clattering to the ground.
"You might recognize this technique," Darkness said, her voice cold. "After all, your predecessor was the one who created it. But unlike theirs… mine is no cheap imitation."
As the shed scales began to morph and take shape, Naruto's eyes narrowed.
"You humans," Darkness continued, venom lacing every word, "act as if you are gods. You defy the natural order, ignore the signs, dismiss our ancient texts as mere fairy tales, and cloak yourselves in false sainthood. But at the end of it all, you are all nothing but sinners."
Her voice rose, a divine judgment ringing through the air.
"I shall now judge you, Naruto Uzumaki."
A brilliant golden light erupted from her form, her chakra surging with unimaginable intensity. The shockwave tore across the battlefield, shaking the earth beneath them.
Naruto stood firm, his eyes locked on hers, even as the storm around them roared in defiance.
The first scale melted to the ground, a dark mass consuming it until it rose into the air, twisting and contorting as it assumed a humanoid shape. From its base, feet took form, then legs, and finally a lithe, elegant figure with pale skin adorned by radiant black markings resembling sunbursts. Long white hair flowed like strands of silver silk, moving unnaturally against the stormy winds. The being's face was delicate yet otherworldly, golden eyes glowing with intensity, and a third eye—dark and menacing—opening upon its forehead.
Two curved horns jutted from the crown of its head, curling back as if to emphasize its infernal majesty.
"You are…" the being spoke, its voice deep and resonant, carrying a weight of timeless authority. Its golden gaze fell upon the shinobi, recognition flashing in its predatory eyes. "The former Nine-Tails vessel… Naruto Uzumaki."
The figure lifted a hand, testing the limits of the invisible chains binding him.
A faint smirk curled upon his lips as he turned slightly to regard the woman behind him.
"To think someone could resurrect and control me," Momoshiki mused, his chuckle low and mocking. His sharp, golden eyes glared to the woman standing behind him. "Are you… perhaps 'Kami'?" he inquired of Darkness, though she remained silent, her expression unreadable.
His smirk widened.
"How amusing. Hahahaha… You always manage to intrigue me, Fox."
Naruto stood still, his expression mirrored the Sovereign, as he assessed the being before him.
Behind him, the Shinobi saw the other two scales began their transformation, each taking a different form.
The second figure emerged as a woman with a body pale as moonlight, her soft yet imposing features exuding a serene yet lethal beauty. Her long, flowing white hair swept like a silken river, her pure white eyes glowing with eerie calmness. Crimson lips curved into an enigmatic smile as two sharp, brown horns emerged from her head. The third eye opened upon her forehead, shimmering with dark power. Her bare form was quickly shrouded in a dense, black chakra that formed a regal, armoured carapace around her.
"How long has it been since I last graced this world?" her voice was calm yet filled with cold disdain as her gaze wandered skyward. "My chakra… it is gone. Tell me, Momoshiki," she said, her tone sharpened, "what have you done?"
"Me?" Momoshiki sneered, raising his hand lazily before pointing toward the shinobi. "Why don't you ask him? Surely, he's the one who brought us back into this mess."
The woman named Kaguya averted her gaze and narrowed her eyes on the Blonde-haired shinobi across her, he was standing perfectly still with a calculative gaze on his face.
"You are…my son's reincarnation." She spoke softly, recalling the event that has happened a long time ago.
Naruto's fists clenched, his teeth grinding as he recognized the two foes.
And the third…
His sharp eyes turned to the final figure.
The last scale transformed into a tall man with fair skin, strikingly blue eyes, and spiky blonde hair that waved gently in the storm's breeze. He wore a familiar Konoha uniform, complete with a green flak jacket and blue sandals. Draped over his shoulders was a short-sleeved, white haori emblazoned with red flames—the unmistakable symbol of the Fourth Hokage.
"Naruto?" the man spoke, his voice a mixture of shock and confusion.
Naruto froze, his breath hitching.
The Fourth Hokage—Minato Namikaze.
His father.
Before Minato could say more, Naruto moved.
In an instant, he closed the distance, aiming a powerful strike at the blonde-haired man.
But his attack was intercepted.
Momoshiki and Kaguya moved simultaneously, blocking him and sending him skidding back across the battlefield.
"How rude," Darkness purred, amusement dancing in her eyes as she watched Naruto recover. "To think you'd strike at your own father without hesitation."
Minato's confusion deepened. "W-what's going on? Naruto… why are we fighting?" His voice trembled as fragments of his last moments flashed through his mind—his farewell to his son, the peace he had finally earned in death.
And now…. here he is, fighting once more.
As opponents.
"Minato Namikaze, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, and Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki," Darkness declared, her voice cold and commanding. Black ethereal threads snaked out from her hand, latching onto the three resurrected figures. The threads coiled around them, pulsating with dark energy as they burrowed into their forms.
"I command you to kill Naruto Uzumaki," she said with cruel finality.
Their eyes swirled, glowing with unnatural light as her will overrode their own. Slowly, all three turned their focus to Naruto, their combined killing intent pressing down like a suffocating storm.
Naruto exhaled deeply, his face hardening into a determined scowl. He knew this was inevitable. His focus shifted toward Minato, his gut twisting. Among them, his father was the most dangerous.
He couldn't let the Reaper Death Seal be summoned.
"Ahhh, this is it!" Darkness laughed maniacally, her voice echoing through the storm. "I told you, Naruto Uzumaki, I will feast upon your corpse and reclaim everything you've taken from me!"
Naruto grinned, his confidence unwavering despite the overwhelming odds.
"You can't defeat me with your own strength," the Shinobi taunted, his voice sharp and cutting. "So you're resorting to others? How pathetic can you get?"
Darkness's laughter only grew louder as the storm intensified, lightning tearing across the sky.
The shinobi's gaze sharpened.
After all, this was just the beginning.
"That's… Vindagnyr?"
Charlotte's voice trembled as she spoke, her wide eyes fixed on the towering sight ahead. Her words broke the silence, but the awe in the air remained untouched.
Beside her, the knights struggled to comprehend the view before them, their gazes locked on the mountain peak. Even Havria, the Goddess of Salt, were frozen in her thought. Beads of sweat trickled down her temple as she stared, speechless, at the magnificent structure rising into the heavens.
On the mountain's summit, half-formed pillars of impossible scale clawed toward the sky. Against the backdrop of stygian clouds, these unfinished monoliths stood as ancient sentinels, emanating a power both timeless and immense. The surrounding peaks, once barren and lifeless from the unyielding frost, now seemed to bow in reverence to this colossal creation.
From their vantage point, the sheer audacity of the endeavor was palpable.
How could such monumental pillars, so intricately carved and majestic, exist in a place where nature itself seemed determined to snuff out life? Faint echoes of hammering carried on the wind, an ancient rhythm that sent chills through the group. It was as if the mountain itself had awakened to birth this masterpiece.
Andrius, bounding alongside the horses, broke the spell with his gleeful howl. His tail wagged furiously, generating a whirlwind that kicked up the dirt behind them.
"How majestic and grand! Such splendor is expected of my master!" the wolf god exclaimed, tongue lolling in excitement.
Havria shot him a sidelong glance, her lips twitching as she tried to find words. "I… I am as clueless as everyone else," she admitted, sweat dropping at his enthusiasm.
Behind her, Lady Amos clung tightly to Havria's waist, her eyes wide as they remained locked on Vindagnyr. The wind whipped at her hair, yet her astonishment remained unshaken.
"Are you certain…" Amos began hesitantly, her voice carrying a weight of doubt, "…that you truly need me on your side?"
The question caught Havria's attention. She turned her head slightly, offering a gentle but firm smile.
"Of course," the Goddess of Salt replied, her words resolute. "Your role here is indispensable."
Yet even as she spoke, doubt lingered in Havria's mind. The stories Jane had told her—of the man called Imunlaukr—echoed now more clearly. Could it truly be him? If so, how could such an impossible transformation occur in mere days?
Surely, something—or someone—else had intervened.
The group reached the grand gateposts of Vindagnyr, crossing an intricately carved stone bridge that spoke of newfound craftsmanship. Guards stationed near the entrance stiffened in shock at the sight of their goddess, bowing deeply before hastily ringing a great bell.
The tolls echoed ten times, reverberating through the valley and across Vindagnyr's peak. In response, a contingent of knights clad in newly forged armour emerged, marching in disciplined ranks to greet the visitors. At their forefront was a young woman whose confident smile and radiant demeanour outshone the frost.
"Welcome back, Lady Havria!" Jane called out; her voice warm yet formal as she approached. Her eyes swept over the group, her joy faltering for a moment when she noticed the absence of their Lord.
Nonetheless, she quickly masked her concern and gestured for them to follow.
"This way," Jane said, leading them toward the palace that was still under construction.
As they drew closer, the scale of the endeavor became apparent. The palace loomed, its foundation radiating opulence and ambition. Even in its incomplete state, it rivalled the most splendid courts of the gods themselves.
"What is going on, Jane?" Havria asked, her tone a mix of awe and suspicion.
Jane glanced back, her smile warm but tinged with unease. "This…" she began, gesturing toward the towering structures, "…was accomplished with the aid of Lord Imunlaukr, milady."
Silence fell upon the group. Jane's words hung heavy in the air as the knights exchanged uncertain glances. Havria, too, furrowed her brow, scepticism evident in her gaze.
"Within just a few days?" Havria murmured aloud, her confusion mirrored in Jane's eyes.
"It shouldn't be possible for mortals to achieve this," Amos added, her voice tinged with incredulity. She had always marvelled at humanity's adaptability, but this level of accomplishment bordered on the divine.
Jane hesitated, her expression tightening. "There's more to it than meets the eye," the Princess of Vindagnyr admitted, her gaze locking onto Havria's. "Lord Imunlaukr has… secrets. He insists they be shared only with you, Goddess."
Though her tone remained respectful, a flash of hatred passed through Jane's eyes as her gaze shifted momentarily to Andrius and the soldiers accompanying Havria. It was fleeting but unmistakable.
Andrius noticed it too. His ears twitched, and his lively demeanor dimmed slightly. He understood the source of that hatred.
Despite Jane's best efforts to conceal it, the scars of Vindagnyr's past lingered, and her anger toward the wolf god was a reminder of wounds yet to heal.
"Fine," Havria said at last, her voice steady. "Let's go."
It took some time for the group to reach the main entrance of Vindagnyr's grand palace. The construction was still underway, but the main structure was already completed, standing as a pristine marvel of white stone. The marble floors gleamed under the light, while the towering ceiling dazzled with intricate ornaments adorned with pristine diamonds.
Jane directed her knights to take care of the horses, while she led Havria, Andrius in his cub-like form, Amos the blacksmith, and Charlotte, head of the Gunnhildr clan, into the palace. The accompanying knights were shown to a nearby cabin to rest.
"Ohh my…" Amos breathed, her voice echoing faintly in the spacious interior. Her eyes wandered over the luxurious surroundings, every detail speaking of refinement and craftsmanship.
As they reached the main room, a single figure awaited them, seated on an ornate sofa: Imunlaukr.
"I greet you upon your return, Your Majesty," The man greeted them smoothly, bowing his head down in utmost respect.
Havria studied him carefully before speaking.
"You must be Imunlaukr."
The man nodded and clapped his hands once.
In an instant, a brilliant white light filled the room, and when it faded, the once sparsely furnished space was transformed. Elegant furniture now adorned the room, radiating warmth and opulence.
"What do you think, milady?" Imunlaukr asked with a slight smirk.
Havria said nothing at first, her sharp eyes scanning the room. Amos's mouth hung open in awe, while Charlotte's restrained excitement was betrayed by the stars in her eyes. Even Andrius hummed softly, his wolfish ears twitching.
"This… is ancient technology," Andrius remarked. His tone was measured but tinged with suspicion. "A lost art, one from times long forgotten. Where did you come by such a thing, human?"
Imunlaukr smirked, his confidence bordering on arrogance. "You must be the great Lupus Boreas," he replied, his tone dripping with mockery. "To think that the source of such calamity now bows before us."
"He is not a pet," Havria snapped, her voice firm as her eyes narrowed.
"My apologies, Your Majesty," Imunlaukr replied, bowing slightly. He then produced an object from within his robes: a symbol of an eye enclosed within a triangle. "But I find it fascinating—and pathetic—that Celestia allows such mutts to wield power comparable to the gods themselves."
Andrius growled low in his throat but remained calm, resting on Havria's shoulder.
In a low voice, he whispered to Havria, "That symbol… there's something sinister about it. Be wary."
Jane, standing off to the side, clenched her fists. The Imunlaukr she once knew—a kind, determined man—was gone, replaced by someone darker, colder, and far more dangerous.
"Before we continue," Jane interjected, forcing a smile as she approached Havria, "please, milady, allow me to guide you to a more comfortable seat."
She took Havria's hand and led her to a grand chair at the far end of the room. The others settled around her, with Imunlaukr taking a seat beside Jane.
Imunlaukr leaned forward, his hands clasped together. "The gods abandoned our people long ago," he began, his voice heavy with bitterness. "Celestia turned a blind eye to our suffering, leaving Vindagnyr to waste away in the eternal frost. I begged for their aid, prayed for salvation… but nothing came."
The room fell silent, save for the faint crackle of a distant fire. Havria's expression softened, her heart aching at the story, though suspicion lingered in her eyes.
"And so, I ventured beyond the blizzard," Imunlaukr continued. "I left Vindagnyr and travelled across Teyvat. I sought refuge in Mondstadt, but the God Decarabian caged us mortals like birds! I pressed onward, to Sumeru, where I found sanctuary… and enlightenment."
"Sumeru?" Havria repeated, leaning slightly forward.
"Yes," Imunlaukr said, his tone now reverent. "There, I encountered King Deshret, whose benevolence knows no bounds. He welcomed me into his city, a sanctuary beyond the endless sands. And there, I met Lady Apep." His eyes gleamed as he spoke her name, as though invoking a divine presence. "I now serve her cause: to bring down the false gods of Celestia and restore the true order. That's why I returned to Mondstadt, back to this desolate mountain, to invite you Lady Havria, join us! Help us overthrown the Celestia!"
An initiation?
Right out of the blue?
Andrius bristled at the mention of Apep, his fur standing on end and the certainty in his voice on recruiting Havria…is unacceptable!
"You're skipping details mortal," Andrius growled, voicing his annoyance.
"I answer only to my god," Imunlaukr replied coolly.
Charlotte was also intrigued by the knowledge; her curiosity got the best of her as she decided and asked with narrowed eyes.
"Who exactly is this Apep?"
"The true Sovereign of this destroyed world!" Imunlaukr snapped, his sudden fervour startling the room. "A true god, far beyond the pale imitations of Celestia! Not even you deserve to be standing as her equals Lady Havria!"
Havria eyes narrowed at the information.
The adoration in his voice felt like he was brainwash…
Would she be wrong to assume that?
What exactly is the goal of the Sovereigns?
"Calm yourself," Havria ordered, her voice cutting through the tension. "Charlotte is a delegate from Mondstadt and deserves respect."
Imunlaukr jaw tightened, but he exhaled sharply, forcing himself to relax. "Forgive me Milady, I am just irritated with how these ignorance fools worship a being that submitted to the one that had tried to destroy this world," he muttered with a sigh. "But before we proceed further, Lady Apep has sent you a gift."
Golden light engulfed the room, as a box with emerald ornaments appeared on his hand. Imunlaukr then walked towards Havria side and offered her to box, to which the Goddess of Salt took with great care. Havria watched as Imunlaukr returned to her seat, before she slowly opened the box. Her eyes stare at the necklace, its pendant glowing faintly with an otherworldly emerald light
Havria felt an unspoken pull, a temptation to claim it and put it on herself.
But before she could act, Andrius gently tapped her cheek, breaking her trance. Her eyes widened, and she quickly closed the box.
"Careful, I can sense that thing [Darkness] in it." Andrius spoke to her telepathically.
"Thank you."
Imunlaukr frowned when he saw Havria put the box down on the table.
"Before I can accept anything, I need answers. Who exactly is Apep? What did you truly encounter in Sumeru? And what of King Deshret?"
Imunlaukr smiled, bowing his head. "Of course, Your Majesty. Let me tell you of the Throne of Apep… and the Sovereign's plans for this world."
He spoke great length about…
The Throne of Apep.
Her benevolence knows no bounds, some regarded heras a prophet whilst others considered her as a God.
Her mercy towards humanity were like that of a Saintess.
She was regarded as one above the Gods of Sumeru.
The Lady of heals.
Even the King of the Desert bows down to her and the Goddess of Flower were like her companion.
The only exception that refused to acknowledge her existence was the Goddess of Wisdom; Lord Rukkhadevata.
The Goddess of Wisdom was considered as an Outcast, one that received no favour from the Lady of Heals and even abandoned by her people.
Then came the Capital of King Deshret.
A city that defied the desolation of the desert, rising as a beacon of unity and knowledge. Its people, guided by the Sovereign's wisdom and King Deshret's benevolence, embraced diversity. Race, creed, and faith were not barriers but threads in the tapestry of their society. The Sovereign welcomed all who sought refuge, and in her gaze, they found enlightenment.
Here, humanity was taught the secrets of chakra, a universal energy that resided within every soul, young or old, strong or frail. Chakra was not bound by the elemental forces of Teyvat; it was an inherent essence of humanity itself.
"Chakra…" Havria pondered, the term sparking memories of her training with Naruto. He had introduced her to its fundamentals, yet he had called it ninshu, not ninjutsu.
The disparity puzzled her.
How did an energy with such profound potential diverge into different philosophies?
If chakra held the key to ascension, perhaps even godhood, was this a path Naruto himself had walked?
What would he think of this city and its teachings?
"This ninjutsu… can you demonstrate it for us?" Havria asked, her voice steady but inquisitive.
Imunlaukr inclined his head, reaching into his pocket and retrieving a handkerchief. Holding it up, he channelled energy into his fingers. The cloth shimmered faintly before splitting cleanly in half.
"This is but a basic application of chakra control," he explained, his tone exuding pride.
"How fascinating," Lady Charlotte remarked, offering a gentle clap.
Imunlaukr smirked at her response. "Would you like to learn, Lady Knight?"
Charlotte considered him carefully. His fervour was genuine, his words laced with reverence. Chakra sounded like a gift that could elevate humanity—and, perhaps, strengthen Mondstadt. But there was an undercurrent, a hidden thread beneath his eagerness.
Her gaze shifted to Havria, who met her eyes and gave a subtle shake of her head.
"What's the catch in learning this chakra?" Amos interjected, her practical mind cutting to the heart of the matter.
Imunlaukr eyes gleamed.
"What else but to worship the Father of the Heavens, Lord Naruto!"
Andrius sighed heavily, his lupine eyes flicking to Havria. "Lady Havria…"
Havria nodded, signalling her understanding.
The situation demanded caution.
"I believe we should tread this knowledge carefully," The Goddess of Salt said, her voice firm. "This is a power buried by the sands of time; its consequences unknown, not even me a Goddess knows anything about it. If chakra is to be taught, it must be under the direct supervision of Naruto himself. No one else. That is my decree."
Imunlaukr face fell into a frown.
"But, Your Majesty—"
"Enough." Havria's tone left no room for argument. "Now tell me, Imunlaukr, what do you truly know of the Sovereigns?"
The tension in the room thickened as the air seemed to grow heavier.
Imunlaukr lips curled into a smirk.
"They are the rightful rulers of this world," he declared, his voice filled with conviction. "The true Lords of the Heavens. Those wretched Celestia are nothing but usurpers."
The Celestia...were usurpers?
Havria's mind reeled at the claim.
Their brief encounter with the Heavenly Principles had yielded no answers about their origins. The Archon War, with all its devastation, often felt like a cruel game orchestrated by the Gods of Celestia.
Yet… the gods were not without care.
Havria's thoughts turned to Istaroth, whose face—full of love and sorrow—was etched into her memory. Their origins might remain shrouded in mystery, but their efforts for humanity could not be dismissed.
And still, everything circled back to him.
Naruto Uzumaki.
The rain was pouring down relentlessly upon the ruins of Inazuma City, a translucent, pyramid-shaped barrier shimmered faintly against the storm, isolating the battlefield from the outside world.
Inside, a scene of tense anticipation unfolded.
Four figures stood apart, locked in a standoff—a mortal against the mighty Sovereign, or rather, the possessed Sovereign.
The air crackled with unspoken challenge.
Whatever force had possessed her seemed to harbour an unrelenting hatred for the lone figure, a hatred so profound it felt like a curse etched into the fabric of reality itself.
It wasn't just a personal grudge—it was as if the universe demanded his demise.
Naruto stood motionless at the centre of it all.
The wind swept through the ruins, tearing at his tattered kimono-battle dress, which flared wildly as if sharing his unyielding resolve. His sharp eyes locked onto his opponents, taking in every detail, every nuance of their posture.
The silence between them was unbearable, like a bowstring pulled taut, waiting to snap.
His gaze lingered on the Sovereign's glowing Rinnegan.
He recalled all its abilities
But in case there's more to the eyes.
He should remain cautious, after all he couldn't afford to underestimate her. Nor could he lower his guard against the three other figures by her side. These opponents were once legend in their own time.
And yet, despite the gravity of the moment, a fire burned within him.
So, why?
Why did his heart race with exhilaration instead of fear?
For the first time since he had awakened in the cave, brought back to life by Havria, he felt alive.
Truly alive!
The thrill coursed through him like lightning, sharp and all-encompassing.
A laugh bubbled up unbidden from his throat, low and unrestrained, cutting through the stillness like a blade. The Sovereign's expression flickered; her curiosity piqued.
Her voice, cold and commanding, broke the moment.
"Do you find your 'fated end' amusing, ninja?"
Naruto's laughter deepened, a raw, untamed sound. He shook his head as if to contain the emotion, but his grin betrayed his attempt. "Amusing?" His voice was laced with exhilaration. "Perhaps...but I just can't help myself. This feeling…" He paused, the weight of his declaration hanging heavy in the rain. "I will defeat you."
Chakra flared violently from his body, radiating outward in a pulsating wave. The sheer force of it swept across the battlefield, causing the Sovereign to unconsciously take a step back. Her eyes widened in shock at the power that threatened to overwhelm even her.
It wasn't cold or oppressive.
It was warm—almost soothing—and yet it sent a shiver down her spine.
She despises this warmth…
It reprimanded her of her past…
One she had abandoned a long time ago.
Was this fear?
Does she fear this mortal?
Her gaze darted skyward for a moment.
The rain was still falling, unrelenting, as if nature itself mourned for what was about to unfold. She steadied herself, forcing a smirk to her lips.
"What's wrong? Afraid already?" he taunted.
That question again.
The Sovereign's smirk deepened.
"You fool could never make me feel fear." Her voice was laced with venom.
Naruto's eyes shifted to the figures behind her.
His attention lingered on two: Kaguya Otsutsuki, the Rabbit Goddess, and Momoshiki, the prideful Otsutsuki. His gaze finally landed on the third—a man who struck a chord deep within him. The Yellow Flash - Minato Namikaze. His father.
"It's been a while, hasn't it?" Naruto's voice was low, almost reverent.
But the silence from the man he once revered cut deep. No response came. The lifeless, puppet-like stares from all three of them confirmed what he already knew. They were not themselves.
Darkness broke the silence.
Her voice carried on the wind.
"Stop wasting your time, Uzumaki."
The Shinobi settled his gaze on her and she glared back.
Without exchanging another conversation, they moved.
Minato acted first, hurling hundreds of his tri-pronged kunai.
The kunai scattered across the battlefield, their metallic glint catching the sparse light of the storm. Another kunai sliced through the air, spinning toward Naruto, who watched it sail past.
In a flash of golden light, Minato appeared above him, Rasengan blazing in his palm. The swirling orb radiated power, its roar nearly drowning out the storm.
"Rasengan!" Minato's voice was sharp, precise.
Naruto shifted back a fraction of a second before the attack connected.
To which the Rasengan was slammed into the ground, detonating with a deafening boom. The earth shattered, sending debris skyward and creating a plume of dust that obscured the battlefield.
Naruto remained unfazed.
Through the haze, he felt them closing in—Momoshiki and Kaguya, their movements fluid and calculated.
Momoshiki struck first, his fist aimed directly for Naruto's jaw in a brutal uppercut. Naruto's hand shot up, catching the strike mid-air. Their chakras collided, the impact shaking the ground beneath them. Naruto countered with a powerful strike aimed at Momoshiki's face. The Otsutsuki tilted his head just in time to dodge, but his confidence was short-lived. A spectral fist emerged from Naruto's chakra, blindsiding him with devastating force. The impact twisted his neck unnaturally, sending him flying into the ground with a crash.
Naruto's momentary victory was interrupted as the ground beneath him trembled. Blackened bones erupted in a deadly forest, their jagged tips seeking his flesh. He leapt into the air, flipping with precision, his movements a dance of survival and grace.
But Minato was waiting.
The Yellow Flash reappeared mid-air, his punch aimed at Naruto's chest. The shinobi blocked it, retaliating with a Rasengan that struck his father's gut with thunderous force. Minato was launched backward, skidded across the ground.
Above, lightning cracked, splitting the sky.
The bolts rained down, aimed directly at Naruto. The strikes fizzled harmlessly against his chakra barrier, their light illuminating his resolute expression.
"Is that all?" Naruto mocked; his tone laced with defiance.
The air grew heavier, and Naruto's sharp gaze never left Darkness as she calmly stepped forward. Her voice cut through the storm like a blade.
"No, that was just a warmup."
Naruto's instincts flared.
She was calm.
Too calm.
What was she waiting for?
His eyes narrowed, scanning her for any indication of her next move. As if sensing his unease, she smirked, lifting her hand slightly.
"The battle starts now."
Behind her, golden flames erupted around Minato's body, consuming him in a chakra cloak that morphed into a full-length haori adorned with black markings. The sight made Naruto's heart skip a beat.
"That's…" He frowned as recognition dawned on him.
Kurama mode.
The familiar name echoed in his mind, and with it came a sudden, blinding headache. Memories surged like a tidal wave, overwhelming him. Scenes long buried clawed their way to the surface.
"This is goodbye kit. Take care of yourself… Naruto."
The words reverberated in his mind, dragging him into a whirlpool of grief and rage. The sacrifice, the bond, the irreplaceable loss—everything came rushing back. His lips tightened into a grim line as he clutched his temple, trying to steady his uneven breath.
Darkness noticed his moment of vulnerability, her smirk deepening. She raised her hand, and an invisible force crushed the battlefield.
Gravity.
The entire landscape quaked under its weight. Bones embedded in the ground flattened like paper, the ruins of Inazuma buckling under the pressure. Naruto's body was affected too, but he resisted, his muscles straining as he held his stance.
Then it doubled. Tenfold. A hundredfold. Thousandfold.
The oppressive force finally slammed him into the ground with a deafening crash. Pain shot through his body as the ground beneath him fractured, but he gritted his teeth and began to rise. The strain was immense, every motion laboured, but he stood, defiant.
Darkness raised an eyebrow, her calm exterior betraying a flicker of annoyance.
"Such stubbornness!"
Naruto didn't respond.
His focus shifted to Minato, who dashed forward. The shinobi noticed black flames coating the tri-pronged kunai on his old man's hand and then he shifted his gaze to look at the one scattering around him like a dangerous minefield.
He's setting up something…
The flashes began.
Yellow streaks lit the battlefield as Minato warped between his kunai, executing a seamless chain of attacks.
Left. Right. Above. Below.
Naruto reacted to the ongoing slaughtering, moving in tandem with the attack, his reflexes sharp despite the gravity pinning him down. Fists and kunai closed in from all sides, but he adapted. At first, Minato's movements were overwhelming, but as time passed, Naruto began to see the pattern in his attacks.
Finally, he countered.
Minato lunged, kunai poised for a strike, but Naruto sidestepped and slammed a Rasengan into his father's stomach. The golden haori flared wildly as Minato was sent skidding across the battlefield, landing in a heap.
Naruto's moment of triumph was short-lived as an earthquake reverberate across the ground, and a massive golem erupted from the Earth, its colossal hand crashing down toward him to which he blocked, creating a shockwave as the earth shattered upon the collision, debris flying in every direction.
Darkness took her chance.
"Planetary Devastation."
The ground around Naruto fractured as he found himself losing his footing, the Earth sunk, swallowed by the black sphere, the debris flying around to form. Chunks of earth, and ruins converged, trapping him in a makeshift moon.
Naruto gritted his teeth, the earth was latching onto him, struggling to free himself, and Darkness refused to let the chance go that easily, her eyes radiate with power as she amplified the gravitational force, pinning him inside the mass of rock. The black sphere climbed higher into the sky, visible to all.
The battlefield fell silent as the moon-like structure hung in the heavens.
Darkness allowed herself a small smile of satisfaction. But then—
BOOM!
Golden flames erupted from the sphere, shattering it into countless fragments. Naruto stood atop the rubble; his glare fixed on Darkness.
Her smirk returned.
"Impressive."
But the space behind him distorted.
Kaguya emerged from the void, silent and relentless.
Before the shinobi could react to the attack, he was caught off guard when Kaguya kissed him, whilst her arms wrapped around him. He could feel his chakra being drained by her. Then an earthshattering sound entered his ears as four wooden dragons emerged from the ground, their claws gripping his legs and pulling him down.
The impact of his fall created a crater as the managed to break free against them, but their grip was unyielding.
Across from him, Minato stood, his eyes cold.
The Reaper Death Seal.
The spectral figure loomed behind Minato; its hollow gaze locked onto Naruto. The Reaper's long tongue rolled out, gripping the cursed blade in its maw.
"You're done," Minato said, his voice devoid of emotion.
The Reaper swung its blade.
And for the first time in this life, he was caught in a checkmate.
When he opened his eyes, the battlefield was gone.
Instead, he found himself standing in an endless expanse of white. The Shinobi glanced around, searching for anything—any sign of life—but he was alone.
Am I… dead?
The question echoed in his mind, unanswered, as the only sound in this void was silence—an oppressive, grieving silence. Naruto clenched his fists, frustration bubbling within him as he grappled with the weight of his predicament.
What happened to me?
What happened to the world I left behind?
Perhaps there were answers somewhere ahead.
He took a deep breath before releasing them and began walking into the unknown, each step resonating with a sense of déjà vu. This space—it felt familiar, as if he had been here before, but he couldn't place why or when.
Minutes passed, or maybe hours.
Time seemed irrelevant here. When he glanced back, the path he had taken was gone, swallowed by an encroaching abyss.
Where am I?
How did I end up here?
Shouldn't I be dead?
What exactly is this place?
Naruto's thoughts spiralled until the space around him began to shift. The void twisted and churned, taking on form and colour. Landscapes emerged from the nothingness. A cliff appeared beneath his feet, and beyond its edge lay Konoha, sprawled out below him like a memory come to life.
Ahead, he noticed a figure seated at the edge of the cliff, his back faced toward him. The man radiated a strange familiarity and an overwhelming presence.
"It's been a while, hasn't it, mortal?" the man said, his voice reverberating through the space. He paused, then continued with a wry edge, "Or should I call you… the Lord of Life and Death?"
Author Note:
Chapter 11 is done; I'd love to share some insight regarding the previous chapter, and I felt like the reviews are...not that much. Was the story boring? Is there something that confused my dear readers? If you have some questions, feel free to ask in the review section, or...you can pm me the questions. I'll be happy to answer them. This was supposed to come out a week ago, but something held me up and my beta reader has real life schedule that forced me to edit this story myself...this includes the new Naruto x Hsr project; the chapter is done, just need to do a few edits on the grammar. I'll try to publish that tomorrow, it should be a Naruto x Firefly fic...there are also two more...and I will let the readers decide which to continue and to drop (by seeing the feedback [reviews, favorites, follows]. The other two will have a Naruto x Feixiao x Jingliu and the last one should be a Naruto x Himeko fic. I will have a busy once the stories are out but my priority for now should be the God of Shinobi, and the rest follows (Mentor's Legacy, Strongest Immortal etc etc). Let me know what you think regarding this chapter, I'll be happy to answer any questions, and once again, I repeat, please be kind and respectful.
Slave of Columbina: Thank you! I hope to see more reviews from you in the future chapters.
Madruga72: Thank you for the compliments! I'm glad you enjoyed the battle. To address the other issue, that's kinda strange, I wondered why did my story not showed up? Was it because of the lack of updates? Or was it because I asked for 'a treat in case you (the readers) wanted to support me'? Hmm, regardless to that, the one on Wattpad is something I had permitted the author fans (do I call him that?) to do, he asked for my permission to upload the story there and I allowed it, that's about it. Anyway, I hope to see your reviews in the future chapters hehe, stay tune for more!
Rick12: Glad you're enjoying it since I also loved writing it. I already answered your questions and hopefully it did clear your confusion in the Private Message, but for the other readers sake I decided to post the answer here too:
1. Do you remember the battle in the Fourth Shinobi War where Gai fought Madara in his eight gate forms? The attack which struck Madara and shattered his ribs? Had Raijin not used her power to countered Ei's slash, she would greatly gotten injured and worse scenario ended up in the same fate as Raiden Makoto (slashed in half). That attack is no joke, after all this is prime Raiden Ei, despite being young she is still a god that should never be underestimated by others, and Raijin never underestimated her opponents, she might toy with them to appease her lust/thirst of battle, but she would never underestimate her opponent.
2. Yes, this is the Raijin where she had lost her authorities to Phanes, her power might have been reduced greatly but even so in this confrontation of revenge against the Gods, she made a deal with the darkness. Her power right now is almost comparable to her prime self (keyword: almost), the darkness offered her a gift, boosting her powers and more, but there will always be a catch, and her being possessed/taken over is one of that side effect. If this confuses you, just imagine Neuvillette, the current Hydro Sovereign, he has regained his full strength after Focalor returned the gnosis to him. Raijin is in the same case, the difference Raijin didn't exactly get the power back from the gnosis instead she asked for a deal, and the darkness accept that offer.
3. The Sovereign was the strongest being in existence until the First Descender appeared on Teyvat, this means that a young God such as Ei and Makoto had no chance against her. After all, the seven sovereigns lost to the first descender who battled them singlehandedly before the creation of the Four Shades. Now, tell me how would a god...merely an archon stood a chance against a Sovereign who is almost back in her prime? Ei might be powerful; the Gods might be powerful but at the end of the day the power scale stood: Sovereigns Archons.
3. Raijin can heal herself. The Gods/Sovereigns/Dragons has the capabilities to do that.
4. Naruto created the Sovereigns with his power., this applied to the Seelie as well. I will implore on this in the future chapters so yeah, that's all I can say. Now regarding the timeline, yes, there are millions of realities, this is possible because Istaroth had the other Shades to help her, meaning this 'darkness' cannot be defeated hence the question Naruto asked her back then "Tell me Istaroth would you dare to challenge a big far stronger than I?"
"If that day ever happens, I want you to flee."
Naruto knew the danger the 'darkness' poised to Teyvat. He had the power to stop it, but he didn't, after all...he had lost many things (you will see what I mean in the future chapters).
Now then, in those realities, it contains either the same beginning and ending...or just entirely different. Hence the reason why Istaroth regarded Havria highly since she is the key to their victory since her being alive altered many things, perhaps even the ending itself. That's why she told her "Don't ever give in despair'. The timelines are pretty much like a samsara where everything repeated itself, however the difference is that its more akin to alternate timelines and once Naruto attained his lost memories - then everything will return to the original timeline where he shall finish the plan Istaroth started.
espindolathiago807: Bear with it, it should be out either tomorrow or the next day. Keep looking forward to it hehe.
Tuvanhuman17: Thank you for defending me, I'm relieved one of my readers tried to understand me. And thank you for the support, I just hope I can get through with this exam since I heard from people that has did the exams…are quite struggling on it huuuhuuu
Aruto-kun: Hmm I wonder what kind of respond I should give? As much as I wanted to update faster, I have things in real life I must do, so yeah, be patient, you acted like you were paying me so I must listen to your order, when you don't. This is a side-hustle I did without getting any payments whatsoever. I know you're excited, I know you're curious, and I know that you love this fic but please try to understand me…it's not much to ask, right? Or was I mistaken…That people don't care what goes on behind the author's screen?
ValianaLucifer: What do you mean? I always responded with my readers questions, that is the thing I wanted to hear the most, I wanted to create an interactive environment between the readers and the author…unless of course, you're toxic, like the people that did in my old works (give a look…most of them are abandoned because people being mean). Anyway, the harem I have in mind is something where their feelings blossomed slowly, not something rushed, since I wanted it to look realistic (even though this is a fantasy story). And no, Havria is the first wife whereas the rest will go according to orders, second wife, third wife etc etc. I wanted to write it where he considered each one of them is important, not where he vent his sexual desires…do you get what I mean? A husband with his wives where he treated each them equally with love, fulfilled their basic necessity and the list goes on. So yeah, not a wife and his mistresses. Did that clear thing up? If you have more questions, go ahead and ask, I'll be happy to answer them :D
Teemo (Guest): Thank you!
AetherialQ: Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it. Man, I thought you had dropped this story…but thankfully you didn't hehe. Now the thing with Wuwa is…I dunno, it seems to be a mess, the story wasn't great, and it was horribly rushed, comparing it to Genshin in the earliest day sounds like a sin since I did enjoy the version 1 (the battle with Dvalin alongside others), its true that it wasn't as good as the current one, but obviously better. I mean look at ZZZ, look how they execute the beginning of its arc…everything was perfect, even HSR did the same great job…wuwa however not that great. I get it that the gameplay was great, and the stories are improving but those are characters stories…not the main story (for example like the archon quests), and I feel since they failed in delivering their lores, they're currently patching things up by adding the story quests alongside the characters quest…aghh, it frustrated me to no end that the game I waited for a while ended up disappointing. I was so hype with wuwa but now I am not, it feels hollow whenever I logged in, sure as an f2p they did give tons of rewards…but the stories…ugh, c'mon, I can't enjoy playing a game when the lore is a mess! Forgive me for ranting, but I hope you understand why I feel so disappointed with Wuthering Waves, and forgive me if I offended you, it's just that I dislike game that has good combat but disappointing lores. The good side to this however you can skip the stories (which I didn't since I'm a lore kind of person)
naedinefebruary2.0: Thank you for reaching out to me, I did check your work, and they were great…but for now I'm not looking for a commission, maybe in the future, but for now…sorry to disappoint you friend
Shunraku: Coba jelaskan apa yang membuat dirimu bingung? Timeline nya? Cara penulisannya atau apanya? Mohon penjelasannya dari apa yang membuat dirimu bingung, biar bisa aku berikan jawaban.
N.E.D.S: Welp, how come that never crossed my head? Lol. To answer your question…hmmmmmmm, maybe wait for later…I am sure it will clear things up and gave you an answer.
Za Krucible: Thank you, I am glad you loved the fight, and yes this is the last fragment of his original self…but at the same time this is the strongest amongst his other self…meaning things won't end up the same as to what had happened to his other selves, that's why both factions will gamble on everything to win this final war. I hope to see more reviews from you in the future updates hehe.
Redlox2: You should play it, it's one of the best archon quests ever! Regarding the VA, give japanese dub a try, you won't regret it. Personally, I found the Western fandom a bit problematic (sorry if I offended you) since most of them complained about either LGBT, skin tones etc etc...you get what I meant right? Regardless to that, the Japanese VA is one...if not the best VAs ever existed...so yeah, give that a try.
Young Miko is indeed cute! hehe
It's like a bubble universe, where Istaroth with the help of the four shades split both Naruto and the 'darkness', this means everyone gambles on the possibilities to which Naruto finally won over it...as far as it stands, Naruto lost 99% of his battles against the darkness. I won't implore much since it might contain spoilers. But whatever happens in this timeline will decide the victor in the main timeline, meaning even if Naruto won against this being, that is nothing but the beginning.
With Havria alive, pretty much everything changes...
And as far as the main timeline story goes, I was thinking of making an alteration...to which the darkness managed to conquer Teyvat...and the archon has fallen to defeat or succumbed to the darkness will. That's why this timeline is a crucial battle, Naruto must win it to restore both law and order. I just hope I won't disappoint my fans once I get there since I do plan on having a time skip after either Natlan...or Snezhnaya to which the conclusion chapter will be about the Cataclysm of Teyvat then we shall return to the main timeline.
That should be it, don't forget to hit the favorite, and follows button if you are new! And, as always, keep the reviews coming! Until next time!
