Ronnie Anne looked at Lincoln and she knew where he was getting at " Your not coming back with us are you?" She asked with sadness in her voice.
The bridge became silent as the clones who were operating stopped and looked at each other and pack up top the Loud's and everyone else looked towards the two wanting to see what the answer that there brother was going to give them.
Lincoln took a deep breath and looked at her " I'm not going back to earth" Lincoln said to her. That was the answer she had hoped he wasn't going to giver " Why?" She simply asked him.
" What?" Lincoln asked her " Why!? Why are you staying why can't you just come home with back earth. Do you have any idea what's life been like since you went missing !?" She asked him loudly as she was panting trying to catch her breath " Ronnie Anne look I do want to return home but's not that easy like you guys think it's complicated " Lincoln said to her.
" Oh Yeah and it has nothing to do with being a hero in this war?" Ronnie Anne asked with her arms crossed " No it's not that Ronnie Anne I just don't want earth to get caught in the crossfire or see you or anyone of you guys see what I see everyday" Lincoln said to them.
This caused all but one to look at him with a raised eyebrow " What does that literally even mean Lincoln?" Lori asked with an upset tone since she heard her brother say that he was not going to return with them.
" I know what he means" A voice said the group turned to see Albert Lincoln and his siblings grandfather looking at them with a expression that he had never shown before. " Wait you know what Lincoln's talking about?" Stella asked the grandfather of the loud children.
Albert let out a sigh as he nodded his head "It happened long ago in the jungles of Vietnam" Albert said.
South Vietnam 1968
" I was young hell everyone of us were young." Albert said. Bell H-1 Huey's were seeing flying over the landscape " Dagwood 5 this Alpha company we are in deep shit we need medivac Now!" A soldier shouted over the radio " Copay that Alpha were moving in now eta five minutes" The pilot told the soldier over the Radio.
" Alpha company need back up and move the wounded but it go as planned hell nothing ever did during that war" Albert told them.
The armada of Bell-1's were seen nearing the open rice as those who weren't wounded by enemy fire were doing the best to hold " All right boys this a hot LZ Be ready to jump out door and load the wounded as quick as you can" The pilot told them.
" Shit were taking Heavy ground FIRE !" A pilot called out from another chopper as soldier were shooting the mounted M60's at the jungle " Where the fuck are They!" A solider shouted " Just shut up and keep shooting!" the pilot shouted as the choppers flew
" Barely a minute past when we got there and-" Albert stopped to catch his breath and keep him self together "Everything just went to shit" Albert.
A young Albert watches as on of the Huey's crashes " AL!" a voice shouts as a man about his age grabs him by the shoulder " You need to snap out of it and help loaded the wounded or were all dead!" The man shouts at's him.
" Johnny good kid he was from Chicago Illinois he was my best friend from boot camp both are old men fought Europe on the Beaches of Normandy we thought this war would be are legacy oh how wrong were we" Albert said.
The young Albert helps carry a wounded soldier to the chopper as the surrounding area's were taking heavy fire after loading another wounded solider on board the pilot turns to them " That's it we can't take anymore!" A pilot tells Albert " Bullshit there's still room!" Albert shouted " We can't take any more we're almost out of fuel we have to go NOW!" The pilot shouts as he flies the chopper upward.
" Were the hell are they going!?" Johnny asks Albert just as he was about to answer there was an explosion Albert looked up to see the Huey explode as a rocket hit the chopper. The choppers that weren't damaged lifted off with the wounded while others were grounded and used for cover. Others were destroyed like Dagwood 5.
Albert watches what remain's hit the ground " Al Snap out of it" Johnny yells as he shakes the young man. Al looks at johnny " Come on you wanna go home alive don't you" Johnny asked him the two grab there rifles and fire at NVA Soldiers attacking them " Command this Alpha Company We need air support I repeat we need-" The commander was shot in the head.
" Medic!" A soldier shouted as Albert reloaded his rifle. Albert noticed an APC with a machine gun mounted " Hey!" Albert shouted at soldier who was tending t to a wound soldier " HEY!" Albert shouted even louder over the sound of gun fire " WHAT!?" the medic asked as he looked at Albert " THE 50 CAL ON THE APC IS IT STILL GOOD?!" Albert asked over the sound of gun fire " Yeah but you have to be crazy to use it snipers will take you out the minute you use it!" the medic told Albert.
Albert turned to Johnny Don't even think about !?" Johnny shouted at Albert " Cover Me!" Albert shouted at Johnny. " So what did you do if you don't mind me asking sir?" a clone naval officer asked Albert.
" I did what I had to" Albert told him. Albert loads a round into the 50 Cal and open fires. As Albert is firing the remaining officer in charge was on the field radio taking cover " this Alpha Company were in deep shit! I need air strike on my Location BROKEN ARROW! I REPEAT BROKEN ARROW!" The officer said.
Johnny heard the order over the sound of gun fire as he looks in the Sky to see three F-4 Phantoms Flying towards but he notices the APC that Albert was firing the 50 Cal. was in the way of the bombing run.
"ALBERT!" Johnny shout his name and started running towards him as fast as he could it seemed as time slowed down as he climbed on top of the APC and threw Albert as hard and as far as he could.
Albert saw his friend on top of the APC as the F-4 Phantoms came down and dropped there napalm then everything went black.
" What happened Next Pop-Pop?" Lana asked her grandfather. Albert stopped as he looked down and wiped some tears from his eyes " I woke up"
Albert's eyes shot open as he grabbed his M16 and looked around the sun was still up " Johnny!" He shouted but got no answer " JOHNNY!" Albert shouted not caring if the NVA could hear him " Al" A weak voice said to him. Albert turned to see a Johnny with a large piece of metal going into the front of his chest and out the back and his face half burnt.
" Johnny!" Albert shouted as he ran to him " Johnny ah Jesus Hold on" albert said as he grabbed a some smoke grenades and set's it off causing it to release purple smoke . Albert looked to see some of the others who survived were trying to patch up the wounded " Albert" Johnny said as he struggled to speak as blood was coming from his mouth.
Johnny let out a small chuckle " shit l-looks like this is th-the end for me" Johnny said to him " Hey don't say that okay" Albert said to him as he looked " MEDIC I NEED A FUCKING MEDIC!" Albert shouted . " AL" Johnny said to him.
" It's okay. We both knew that this was gonna happen someday after getting of the plane when we came to this shit hole." Johnny said as he placed a bloodied hand on AL's shoulder " Looks like's it's my time kid Live your life to the fullest not just for me but for every guy who didn't make it back" Johnny told Albert as he drew his last breath and his hand went limp.
Albert removed Johnny's hand and placed his hand on the ground and closed his eye lids. Albert cried as the sound of choppers could be heard.
" At the Funeral I Could feel the hate filled looks his Family I couldn't blame them they trusted me to look after Johnny and I failed then later on down the line finding out that me, Johnny, and every other last kid that was sent over there fought a war that we couldn't win it made me feel even worse that Johnny died for a lie." Albert stopped to catch his breath as tears were rolling down his face.
" Your mother Rita id what kept me together and prevented me from putting a bullet in my brain" Albert said.
