INM 6: Left on read
"How long until i ascend into heaven?" You asked.
"You do realize thousands of people and pokemon die every single second right?" Arceus told you.
"...maybe..." You reply.
Arceus sighed in disappointment.
"The process is usually done automatically without me having to interfere but for some strange reasons you haven't been taken into your afterlife appropriately..." Arceus told you.
You frown.
"I'm gonna have to research more indepth into this issue.." Arceus was pondering.
"Uhhh..." You look awkward.
"Nevertheless, let us continue with reading my book!" Arceus looked happy.
"Do we have to read these stories?" You ask.
"I don't have anything else to do, do you? oh wait you don't cause you are dead!" Arceus giggled a bit.
"Bruh." - You.
"...Ahem, next story..." Arceus used her tiny reading glasses and began reading the book.
(Alola Region - Ula'Ula Island)
It was a warm tropic morning in the most hawaiian of places, Alola.
Many children were having fun playing around, adults tanning in the sandy beaches, or hikers climbing the large mountain ranges.
But out of a small humble apartment we see a certain Lurantis come out, she didn't say much and just kept to herself.
As she walked through the streets it was almost as if everyone purposely ignored her, of course this was not the case but still.
The Lurantis made her way to Malie City where she worked at the library, always having a soothing facination with books.. she thought this was the best logical place to work after her... experience in the game had ended.
She was kinda bored however, all she did was scan books into library and check them out, someones she reorganized books that were in areas they weren't supposed to be on, like certain pranksters putting the womans rights book in the fiction area.. ugh must be that sneaky Trapinch again...
She did this exact same routine for months now, her love for books was even starting to dwindle a bit, after all in modern times barely anyone used the library anymore, they're all just hooked on their phones for whatever information they need.
Lurantis was usually all by herself in the library, just boredly scrolling through old DMs on her own phone reminiscing, when she saw someone that caught her eye, Mike Urkchi.
She tapped it to see what their last conversation was.
Tina: Hey it's Lurantis from Alolan Olympics
Mike: Oh hey
Tina: How have you been after the show has ended?
Mike: Good
Tina: How is Marina?
Mike: She's okay i think
Tina: That's good! Do you think maybe we could meet up and catch up again?
Mike: Sure.
Tina: Nice, when do you think we can do that?
(Left on Read)
Lurantis frowned seeing that, it had been a couple of months since she last texted him.
Truth be told, she had developed quite a crush on him while she and he played the Alolan Olympics game, his no nonsense attitude, strength and intelligence were all things she admired of him.
Maybe if she had a quarter of what he had, she could've stood up to those bullies Tsareena and Ribombee, but it's far to late to live in the past.
She decided to text him again, not like she was losing anything by doing it anyway...
Tina: Um excuse me but did you get my last text?
Mike: I didn't sorry, i was busy
Tina: Doing what?
Mike: Work
Tina: Oh well it's been a while, how have you been?
Mike: Tired, work is stressful.
Tina: That's a shame i hope you feel better soon :)
Mike: Thanks
Tina: How is Marina?
Mike: She's fine, she went to pick up the kids at school rn
Tina: You have kids?!
Mike: I didn't mention it before?
Tina: No i don't believe you did, how are they?
Mike: They're pretty good, I'm glad we have them
Tina: That's so sweet, I'm happy you have such a wonderful family!
Mike: Yeah, it's nice, what about you, how is your life after the game? You have a nice family too?
Lurantis frowned, she glanced around the empty library and thought of her even emptier apartment near Malie City.
Reluctantly she decided to just be honest and say the truth.
Tina: To be honest, i haven't met up with anyone after the game ended, i just been working in the Library over Ula'Ula
Mike: Dang
Tina: Yeah, i could really use some friends but i don't know anyone here and I'm just not confident enough to initiate a conversation...
Mike: You're doing pretty good with me tho
Tina: It's different with you silly, I've known you from the game show, remember?
Mike: Right... i guess that makes sense.
Tina: I had a crush on you back then lol man how times have changed
(Left on read)
Lurantis suddenly realized what she typed and her eyes widened, she tried deleting the text but just couldn't.
She was blushing so much she looked like a new species of shiny Lurantis! How could she be so foolish to tell him that, he is married and has kids for Arceus sake!
She needed to think of a save and fast.
Tina: I was a weird teen back then sorry lol
(Left on read)
Bruh.
Lurantis was panicking even more, she didn't know what he thought of her now, how could she ever show her face to him ever again.
She still liked the Rowlet but respected his marriage with Mareanie, nevertheless the heart cannot be contained in the law of love.
Lurantis had to give it one last try.
Tina: Hey how about i go meet your kids and Marina, i bet that would be nice?
(Left on read)
"Welp, that's it for that i guess..." Tina faceplanted on the library reception desk.
She felt so stupid for saying something like that to him in the first place, what must he think of her now that she's a creep, that she's a dirty homewrecker?
Lurantis decided to close the library early since nobody was coming in anyway for the last couple of hours, she walked to her tiny apartment which was tidy.
As she sat there on the bed scrolling through cat pictures she got a DM text and instantly clicked on it.
Mike: Sure.
Lurantis smiled in happiness, she was still in the friendship game!
She began to rapidly text him back.
Tina: Great! Were you busy before?
Mike: My kids were fighting and Primarina came to visit us, we are having lunch with her right now.
Tina: That sounds so swell! I'm glad you are all having fun!
Mike: Yeah
Tina: I heard Primarina has been trying to be a popular pop star after the game ended, how is she doing?
Mike: She's realizing, it's more complicated than she thought.
Tina: How so?
(Left on Read)
Tina: Hello?
Lurantis frowned, he was mid typing when it just stopped and he disconnected.
She just needed some new friends to feel less lonely, she didn't want to admit it but she almost missed being the underling minion of the evil queen trio alliance, at least there she felt she had a purpose.
Sure her purpose was just being an extra vote to those jerks but at least she was doing stuff and competing in games daily, now in life she just felt stuck there was simply nothing to do at all anymore just nothing at all-
That's when in a millisecond, Lurantis was teleported to a white void, where there was truelly absolutely nothing other than whiteness around her at all.
A monotone voice kept saying names and adding players.
Lurantis noticed Rowlet looking panicked and confused, Mareanie frowning and a bunch of strange characters like humans and objects around her.
Despite the eerie situation she was on, Lurantis was actually a bit happy she was teleported here, her life had been so mundane after the game had ended, she genuienly yearned for something else, something that would give her a purpose.
And maybe just maybe, now that she finally had Rowlet a couple of feet away from her, she could finally talk to him and not be left on read.
