Prompt:
Usually, most every night, Sonic would go out on a long run to cool his mind off all the fighting and gloomy atmosphere.
It was intense, most days, and the battles with Eggman never seemed about ready to end.
One night, Amy was worried about him. It was almost midnight when she crawled out of bed, got a glass of water, but didn't return to her room.
When Sonic came back, he walked into the hub to see a pink head laying on the armrest of the couch.
Upon turning to see her, he noticed it was Amy.
In the darkness, he looked around, his face unable to be recognized, as he bent down and gently moved a bang out of her face.
It was drooped down due to the angle, and he saw her fast asleep, with small huffs of breath.
You could almost count it as snoring.
The light shone just right on his teasing smile, before he picked her up, kindly, and carried her to her room.
He noticed he had picked her up the wrong way though, since her head would be at the bed's end if he set her down.
"Hmm…" his small noise of thinking, followed by a few foot taps, showed he was searching for a solution.
He turned her around gently after setting her down, and let her rest, slightly tucking her in.
He appreciated the sediment, but didn't really think she should bother herself with it.
The next night, he stretched upon coming home, and again, noticed something off in the living room.
He walked over to once again see Amy on the couch, sleeping.
He made a face, though the darkness drifted over it as he moved closer to her, and bent down.
He seemed to hesitate, as if the moment was serene, before he disturbed it at last and picked her up again.
The next several nights, Sonic kept putting Amy to bed, as the two never talked about this routine to each other.
Amy would wake up and sigh, realizing that Sonic had come home safe and sound, and gladly got out of bed to greet the day!
One day… She stayed out late, simply drawing the landscape and night sky.
She smiled, glad with her oil painting of mostly black and white shadings, before looking at her watch and getting worried.
It was already morning!?
She quickly ran home, only to discover that a blue body was leaning on the armrest, before perking up and looking back to her.
She froze, a moment of silence, as Sonic looked forward, got up, and ran to his room.
The touching moment made her hold the drawing tighter, as she closed her eyes and smiled, nodding a thank you.
He cared too.
On another night, Amy woke up to Sonic putting her in bed, but pretended to be asleep.
She peeked an eye open to see him pick up her drawing, and she held her breath a moment.
He could hear the soft snoring stop and looked back but she closed her eyes.
Another night went by and she saw a picture by hers, another painting with a simple pencil it seemed, but it was a beautiful landscape she had never seen before.
She treasured it, knowing the small circle with three spikes at the bottom must be Sonic's signature.
There was a night that she woke up and was still on the couch, and in a frenzy of fright, ran to Sonic's room.
When he wasn't there, she woke up the whole team and then some, as they charged to save his life.
He was fine though, sleeping outside the night.
The teams returned to their normal duties, but Amy was upset the whole day.
Later, she confronted Sonic on it, crying from her worry and made him swear to come home or she'll wake everyone up again and go searching for him.
She didn't know if he agreed, but after a few nights, she awoke to something soft on her head, and then looked up to see Sonic had bent down, before lightly moving away.
A kiss..? Perhaps?
Either way, she knew they both cared about each other's well-being, and for once, Sonic came home and actually said, in his own way-
Goodnight.
(or would it be morning? lol, I can never get the time right, haha! XD)
