So it's been *checks dates* almost two years?! OMG... It's what I get for focusing more on my art and other books instead of this. Not to mention the hyperfixation HEAVILY dropped, but it's back, at least for now.
Anyway, Season 4 dropped and I LOVE that we got more Obanai and Giyuu content. I even got a bit more popular on Twitter for talking about them. It all reminded me of this, and I have a sudden urge to continue, especially with how much attention this thing is still getting.
That said, I reread what I have done so far and uh ... yikes. Then again, I always cringe at my old stuff. With that being said, I do feel like my writing style has improved, so I can't wait to show you all how far I've come.
I still have some requests to work on, so I'm gonna be focusing on those. Updates are still gonna be slow, but I'll try my best to at least be a bit more consistent. Really it depends on how long this hyperfixation lasts.
I still have five requests to work on, plus two ideas of my own that I want to write after that. Until I get caught up with those, I'm going to close requests.
Repeat, REQUESTS ARE NOW CLOSED!
I will let you know when they are open again, though, promise.
Also, I recently hit 500 followers on Twitter and it's thanks to these gays, woo!

Marry Me?
To say Giyuu was nervous was a severe understatement. In fact, he was terrified.
Tonight was a potluck for the Demon Slayer corp. It was just a nice little get together with food, hanging out, and celebrating another year of protecting innocent civilians from demons. It was being hosted by Tengen this year, so a flashy get together was guaranteed.
As much as Giyuu hated social situations, he still was going to enjoy the food, and he was going to hang out with Obanai, one of the few people that actually charged his social battery. The social interactions were the least of his concerns, though. Right now, the source of his worry was, in fact, Obanai. His boyfriend.
Or should he say, his (hopefully) future fiancé.
The two had been dating for quite a while now and Giyuu felt like they were finally ready to make themselves official. He had a ring picked out and a plan set in place. He didn't want to propose in front of everyone. Neither of them would like that kind of attention. He planned on proposing once the event was over and they were back at home.
He pulled the small box out of his pocket and opened it, inspecting the ring once more. It was black with a swirling teal pattern. It wasn't anything too fancy, but Giyuu figured Obanai was going to like it.
But so many questions of doubt were racing in his mind. What if Obanai says no? What if they break up? What if Obanai thought the question was too early? What if it turned out this several-year relationship was nothing more than a cruel prank? What if-
"Mr. Giyuu, are you getting in your head again?" Tanjiro suddenly asked, pulling Giyuu out of his thoughts and back to the current situation. The two, along with Nezuko, were walking side by side to the Uzui household. Each were carrying a tray of food for the potluck. They had agreed to walk together and meet the others there, mostly so Giyuu could have a little pep talk with the Kamado siblings.
"How did you know?" Giyuu replied.
"You zoned out with a worried expression on your face," Tanjiro explained.
Giyuu sighed. He could not deny that. "I'm just nervous."
"I know you are, Mr. Tomioka. But you two have been through so much together. He's bound to say yes!" Nezuko chimed in, assuring him.
"But what if he says no?"
"He's not going to," Nezuko insisted.
"But what if he does?"
"He's. Not. Going to," Tanjiro stubbornly echoed.
"You can't know that for sure."
The two siblings suddenly stopped walking and whipped around to face Giyuu. "He's going to say yes. You've rambled to us yourself about how he's your everything and how he's told you that you are his. You both love each other very much and he has no reason to say no. Got it?" Tanjiro ranted.
Giyuu was taken aback by the sudden assurance, but he needed to hear it. He knew he could count on them to help him with his self doubt. He knew Tanjiro was right, too. He gave the young slayer a smile. "You're right. Thank you."
"Of course, Mr. Tomioka!" Tanjiro beamed and the three continued walking.
Soon the trio arrived at the Uzui place. The former Sound Pillar was happy to greet them. "Ah, Tomioka! Kamado one and two! Come on in!"
"Hi, Mr. Uzui!" Tanjiro greeted.
"Hello!" Nezuko greeted, too.
Giyuu simply nodded and the three went inside.
Other members of the Corps were inside, idly chatting. Some of them already had food in their hands. Music was quietly playing in the background on a gramophone being cranked by one of the crows.
The trio found the long table where the others had placed their dishes. They added theirs and went to see who else had arrived. Tanjiro and Nezuko were quick to spot the rest of the Kamaboko Squad and raced over to join them. Giyuu found himself softly smiling as the friend group ran off to enjoy their own antics. He looked around, searching the room for somewhere to sit. He soon spotted Obanai talking with Sanemi in the corner. He walked over to join them. "Hey."
"Giyuu! You made it!" Obanai greeted. He got up on the balls of his feet to give Giyuu a kiss on the cheek through his mask. Kaburamaru hissed in greeting and gently nuzzled his other cheek.
"You were the one that talked me into it," Giyuu replied, kissing Obanai's forehead and giving Kaburamaru's head gentle scritches. That, and one other reason. He silently added to himself.
Sanemi pretended to gag. "You two are so sweet with each other, it's sickening," he grumbled.
Obanai gave him a mock glare and flipped him off, which Sanemi returned before the two laughed. "I'll leave you two to catch up," Sanemi said as he left the two alone. As he left, he leaned in to mutter in Giyuu's ear "Don't fuck it up," knowing what was going to happen after the potluck. After all, Sanemi was the one that figured out Obanai's ring size when Giyuu asked him.
Obanai noticed Sanemi whisper something to his boyfriend, which was odd, but he shrugged it off. Once it was just the two of them, Obanai pulled Giyuu in for a hug. Giyuu was slightly taken aback by this, but he hugged back. "What's with the sudden affection?" he asked. "Not that I'm complaining."
"I've missed you. I haven't seen you all day," Obanai murmured into his chest.
Giyuu felt his heart skip a beat with adoration. "I missed you, too," he said. "How was your day?"
"Just the usual training," Obanai sighed, pulling away so they could have a proper conversation. "Kinda sore from it and glad to have a break. Yours?"
Completely spent last-minute rehearsing the proposal. Giyuu thought, internally cringing as he recalled him practicing what he wanted to say aloud with the Kamado siblings' help. "Uhhh ... training." That's technically not a lie, right? Rehearsing is just the performance version of training, right?
Obanai gave him a skeptic look. He was always able to tell when Giyuu was lying. Usually Giyuu was more open with him, so what gives?
Giyuu cleared his throat, changing the subject. "So, I'm gonna go get something to eat. Wanna come with?"
Obanai decided to shrug off the lie and nodded. The couple went over to the table of food. Giyuu grabbed a bento box and started filling it with food. Obanai trailed behind him, watching.
"I know you probably ate before you came here, but if you ever change your mind, I'm willing to share," Giyuu said.
Obanai's eyes widened in realization. So that's what I forgot to do. He thought to himself. Every year, without fail, he always made sure to eat before the potluck so he wouldn't have to worry about taking his bandages off. But this year, he was caught up with training with Sanemi, getting cleaned up, and then coming over that he forgot to eat. Thinking about it now, he realized he didn't even have time to eat. "I ... actually forgot to," Obanai mumbled.
Giyuu stopped in his tracks. "Really?"
Obanai nodded.
"Grab a box and get some food. We can find a separate room to eat," Giyuu suggested.
Obanai nodded again and obliged. He didn't add a lot to his plate, but it was still something. Once they both got their fill, they slipped off towards the hall to see if they could find a room with no one in it.
"And where are you two off to?" Tengen suddenly asked.
Startled, Giyuu and Obanai whipped around, Kaburamaru letting out a startled hiss. "We were just looking for somewhere to eat," Obanai quietly said.
It was then Tengen noticed Obanai having food with him for the first time at this event. He immediately got the message. He recalled what Obanai had told him about his past and could understand why he wanted privacy. "Okay, you can eat in the guest room." He gave them a smirk. "But that food better be the ONLY thing getting eaten in there."
The couple's faces immediately turned red at that last comment. "UZUI!" they shouted in unison.
Tengen laughed in response before walking away.
Still flustered, Giyuu and Obanai hurried down the hall. They soon found the guest room Tengen was talking about and slipped inside. They closed the door behind them and took a seat on the floor, facing each other.
Obanai slid his bandages down, avoiding eye contact with Giyuu, and focusing more on his food. No matter how many times he took his bandages off around his boyfriend, he always felt shy about it. It always made him feel vulnerable and it usually unsettled him. Especially in a situation like this where someone could potentially walk in.
Giyuu couldn't help but watch as Obanai started eating. They've eaten together on so many occasions by this point, perfect opportunities for the Water Hashira to admire the Serpent Hashira's scars. He always viewed them as cool and a symbol of Obanai's strength and survival instincts. Giyuu could also always tell when Obanai was feeling self conscious about his scars. This was definitely one of those times. He reached over and gave Obanai's shoulder a small squeeze. "It's okay. I don't think Uzui would let anyone down here."
Obanai relaxed under Giyuu's touch and gave him a small smile. "Thanks, Gi."
Giyuu nodded and the two started eating. As the taller one ate, he realized he made a good point. They were alone. Tengen wasn't going to let anyone barge in. Perhaps he can ask the question that's been taking up his mind all day now. That familiar nervousness filled him up again and he shifted a little to try to shake it off.
Obanai noticed his boyfriend was now the one looking on edge. "Are you okay, dear?" he asked.
Giyuu's face immediately turned pink. Should I do it? This is the perfect chance. Nervously, he swallowed. "Yes. Yes, I'm okay."
Obanai didn't seem convinced. His mind went back to when Sanemi said something to his boyfriend and how Giyuu dodged his question about what he did that day. "I find that hard to believe."
A sigh left Giyuu. He should have known his boyfriend would see right through him. "Okay, fine. There's just something I need to talk to you about."
Obanai and Kaburamaru exchanged looks. The former felt a pit grow in his stomach. He did not like the sound of that. "Okay," he said, trying to remain calm. "What about?"
Setting his food down, Giyuu stood up and gestured for Obanai to do the same. The shorter man hesitated a moment before doing the same. Once he was on his feet, Giyuu took his hands and nervously looked down at them. "Obi, I love you. We've been together for a while now and I've enjoyed every moment."
"I love you, too, Yuu. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." Obanai brought up one of Giyuu's hands to his mouth and tenderly kissed his knuckles. He could still sense the nervous energy radiating off of the Water Hashira. "But ... where is this coming from?"
Giyuu nervously chewed his lip and pulled his hands away. "I should just get right to the point." Taking a quick breath, he reached into his pocket and dropped to one knee. Obanai audibly gasped when he saw him pull out a small box. Giyuu looked up at Obanai and opened the box, revealing the ring. He gave him a hopeful smile. "Obanai Iguro, will you marry me?"
Obanai was at a loss for words. He certainly wasn't expecting this! Kaburamaru hissed excitedly, nudging their best friend and encouraging him to answer. Obanai's eyes welled with tears from the sudden burst of emotion and he nodded. "Yes," he managed to say. "Yes, I will!"
Giyuu's smile turned into a bright grin as he stood up. He took the ring out of the box and slid it onto Obanai's finger. Obanai took a moment to admire it. It was a really pretty pattern. He smiled up at Giyuu before pulling him down a bit to kiss him. Giyuu immediately kissed back, hugging him tightly. Kaburamaru wrapped themself around the couple, giving them a congratulatory hug.
The couple pulled away for air and smiled at each other. Kaburamaru returned to Obanai's shoulders. "I can't believe this is real," Obanai said, smiling down at his finger. "I never would have thought that I would-"
Giyuu cut him off with a kiss. "Don't start with that. You know what I'm gonna say," he murmured.
"I know, I know," Obanai said, laughing lightly. "I'm just really grateful you showed me what I'm worthy of having."
"And I'm grateful you're by my side and that I'm not alone," Giyuu replied.
They went in for a kiss again before holding each other close, enjoying each other's embrace.

Later on, the two had finished their dinner. While they ate, they were talking and laughing and really enjoying the event more than usual. Once they finished up, they went back out to the main area. Obanai purposefully adjusted his sleeve so that it covered the engagement ring. They didn't want that to be revealed just yet. Not while the proposal was so fresh.
Turned out, he hid it for nothing.
"There's the happy couple!" Tengen shouted and the Corps erupted into applause.
"Woah!" Giyuu said, clearly confused.
"What's going on?" Obanai asked, just as confused.
"We're just congratulating you on your engagement!" Mitsuri exclaimed. "We're so happy for you!"
The pair of fiancés' jaws dropped as their faces turned red. "How did you know?!" Obanai demanded.
"I overheard," Tengen said, nonchalantly. "Didn't mean for the others to find out. I only told Rengouku because he asked what I was listening to, but then he went and blurted it to the whole room in shock."
"My apologies!" Kyojuro boomed.
The couple inwardly groaned. At least the cat was out of the bag, though.
But then everyone started talking at once.
"Do you need a wedding planner? I can make it the flashiest wedding anyone has ever been to!"
"I'm gonna be the Best Man, right?"
"Oh no, Shinazugawa, I believe I will be the Best Man!"
"Like hell you would after revealing they got engaged in the first place!"
"Okay, but I'm hoping I'll get to be the Maid of Honor!"
"You would make a lovely Maid of Honor, Kanroji!"
"Thank you, Kocho!"
"Can I be the Ring Bear?!"
"It's pronounced Ring Bearer! How do you even know what that is?!"
"I'm smarter than you think, Monitsu!"
"Need a Flower Girl? Nezuko would be more than happy to do that!"
"Yeah, being the Flower Girl sounds like it would be fun!"
Obanai and Giyuu awkwardly watched as everyone started animatedly talking about the wedding. Obanai rolled his eyes and leaned in to whisper in Giyuu's ear. "Come on, let's leave while they're distracted."
Giyuu nodded in agreement and they snuck off.
"Aaaah, it's going to be so much fun!" Mitsuri squealed in excitement. Then she realized something. "Oh! Iguro! Can we see the ri- wait, where did Iguro and Tomioka go?"
The room fell silent and everyone looked around. Sure enough, the couple in question was gone.

"That was a lot of excitement for one night," Obanai said, once they were outside and heading to the Serpent Estate.
Giyuu nodded in agreement. "I'm sorry. I probably should have waited until we got back home."
"No, don't apologize. It's not your fault the others were like that," Obanai said.
"I was just really looking forward to asking you. Nervous as all hell, but excited. I saw an opportunity and I took it."
Obanai smiled at Giyuu and took his hand. "I love you. Despite suddenly being the center of attention, I had fun tonight. Thank you."
Giyuu gave Obanai's hand a squeeze. "It was nothing. I'm just happy you said yes."
Aaaaand that wraps up a new part! Man, it feels good to write about these two again. As always, favs, follows, and reviews are appreciated! Have a great day/night and stay safe!
