Around the city, the klub had been all over the city, looking for the green goblin. "Paging green goblin! Paging miss or mr green goblin!" Spider gal announced to the streets, hoping the villain would show, however to her disappointment nothing showed. "Great, how's the ground floor doing?"
Down on the ground, the klub kept scouring for the green goblin but with no sightings. "Nothing." "Nada." "Still no sign of the goblin. Though I was hoping to get another look at that dashingly dark and vile costume!" "Uh Juilan, you do know that they're the same creep that held the school hostage right?" Spider gal pointed out, "Yes but I am in love with that devilish costume!" Juilan giggled.
Spider gal simply groaned before spotting a nasty car wreck, she quickly web zipped to the scene and analyzed the area with her new technologically modified lenses. "Three victims of this accident." She said to herself, from her lenses, she saw two people trapped underneath a truck and one trapped in their car. First things first, she jumped upwards and landed on the side of the truck and ripped the door off, she grabbed the victim and carried them to safety before pulling the other one out of danger before the truck exploded. Now for the last victim, the arachnid then pulled out the multiple pieces of debris along with the car door, freeing the citizen from danger.
With the car wreck resolved, spider gal then web zipped away for the paramedics to take care of it.
At mcfist industries' genetics lab, Theresa had cleaned the lizard casings with Randy and Howard. "So how was the dance with Debbie Howard?" Theresa asked, "you know, before the whole green goblin thing…." "Oh it was nice…" Howard replied, "we danced a bit before I burped in her face and she stepped on my foot." Randy chuckled while Theresa rolled her eyes, "Theresa can you come here for a second?" Dr Connors hollowed. "I need your help for an experiment." The cheerleader then headed across the lab where the Dr was analyzing something through his microscope. "Hmm… surprisingly stable…." He said to himself, "You wanted to see me Dr Connors?" Theresa announced the Dr turned around. "Ah, Theresa! I'm gonna need your help for an extra important experiment!" "Sure uh what's with the reptiles?" Theresa pointed to multiple reptiles and vials of reptilian dna. "Oh these?" Dr Connors noted, "These are part of a serum I'm developing, using genetically modified reptile dna!" "And you need me to help organize them alphabetically?" "Actually I need a sample of your dna!" "Oh, I— wait my WHAT?" "I know it sounds insane, but it's essential to the formula!" "This doesn't involve dissecting me, does it?"
"No no, we're not dissecting anything!" Dr Connors assured. "I simply need the perfect cross species DNA and what better than the perfect cross species: spider gal!" Theresa immediately covered Dr Connors' mouth, "oh right, the whole secret identity thing…." "Why can't you just make the perfect cross species yourself?" "Cross species genetics isn't something that can easily be mastered, but it would save some time and skip to the experiments!" "I'm not sure that's a good idea…." Theresa replied worriedly, "Cutting corners doesn't always go well…." "Relax, I've taken every necessary precaution, all I need is a sample of your dna!" Theresa took a deep breath, pulled out a strand of her hair and gave it to Dr Conners.
The scientist then placed it into a tube connected to a small machine to which it scanned the hair and extracted the genetic code from it. Theresa looked at the Dr's fake arm. "So doc… sorry if this is a sensitive topic but…" she began, "what happened to your other arm?"
"Oh this? Well before I worked for McFist, I was a battlefield medic during the Vietnam war…" Dr Conners began, "the best of my kind… There was no wound I couldn't heal, disease or physical damage… but that all changed. While I was doing battlefield surgery I was caught in an explosion… When I woke up the Drs told me that my arm had been amputated in order to prevent disease. Without my other arm I had no use for the field anymore, so I was forced to retire, but it also made me feel less of a man… I've been researching for means of getting my arm back, so when I found out how some lizards can regenerate lost limbs, I made it my goal to use that info to not only help my arm grow back, but everyone who has lost a limb or was born without them! And evolve our species to an entirely new generation!"
Theresa was shocked by the Dr's story, he was a renown soldier who's life slightly went down the toilet… maybe this serum could actually work! "Alright, let's make history!" The Dr smiled.
The two began their experiments with cross species genetics, first with lab mice, using one slight injection into a three legged mouse, they waited for the effects to kick in. At first nothing, but then the mouse's leg grew back perfectly! No genetic mishaps, no erratic mutations, a perfectly grown limb!
"Now all we need to do is test it out on humans, and I know exactly how to test it…" Dr Conners said, taking off his lab coat and his prosthetic arm. "Whoa whoa whoa! Slow down doc!" Theresa urged, "we don't know what that serum could do to humans!" "Well you're right, I should probably settle for human testing later." Dr Connors replied, putting his arm and coat back on.
Later that night, Dr Connors stayed overnight to continue his experiments, he stared at his fake arm with disgust then a picture of his wife, then pulled out an audio recorder. "This is Dr Curtis Connors, date is April 15th, 2022." He began, "This is experiment 001 of the serum: L-63, test subject: Dr Curtis Connors. Beginning genetic infusion now…." With that he injected himself with the serum, at first nothing happened, but then the scientist was met with an immense amount of pain he screamed as his lost arm slowly grew back, first came the skeleton then several strands of flesh and skin covered it entirely. The doctor looked at his new arm feeling the flesh and skin of his fallen limb was amazing! "I-I did it!" He cheered at his success, he managed to regrow his own arm like a lizard! It's more than an achievement! It's an evolutionary breakthrough! He's made the cure for amputations possible! Things were going to change for the better….
The next day, the school was under siege by a monsterized version of Juilan, in which it retained his outfit, but it also made him more spider-like with blue skin and bulging eyes like Bucky. The ninja and her arachnid companion chased it down the halls and into the gymnasium. "Yo Juilan! Wall crawling's my thing!" Spider gal retaliated as Juilan crawled onto the ceiling. "You start spinning webs and I'm getting my spider lawyer!" Juilan simply hissed as he shot a web out of his butt, the two quietly dodged it as spider gal leaped to the ceiling and quickly webbed Juilan's hands and feet. "I warned you buddy…." She simply replied, "Yo ninja! Any clue on how to destank daddy long legs here? I'm thinking: hat!" "Hmm…" The ninja observed the mutated student, seeing a hint of funk emerge from his necklace. "Stanked necklace!" "Got it! Spider necklace grab!" Spider gal quipped as she web-grabbed the necklace and tossed it to the ninja, to which he ripped it in half, allowing the stank to escape from it, turning Juilan back to normal.
As the stank tried to return to the vent it was snatched away by none other than the notorious green goblin! "27 amounts of stankings in one week, I was right! This school is a gold mine of misery…."
Underground, the sorcerer groaned as his stank still hasn't returned yet, this has gone on for at least two weeks, it started to take a toll on his power. "27 amounts of stankings in one week and yet not a single amount has returned to me!" He groaned. "What's going on up there? Is the ninja trying to harvest my power? And they say I'm a selfish shoob!"
At the genetics lab Theresa arrived a little later thanks to a mugging across the block. "Sorry I'm late doc, I kinda ran into a…" she stopped seeing her coworkers staring at Dr Conners in awe. "Uh… what's going on…?" She asked before looking at what exactly they were gawking about: Dr Connors' arm had successfully regrown! How is that possible? Unless… "Did you use the lizard serum on yourself!?" "Well yes, but look at the results!" Dr Connors cheered, "I've got my arm back and I'm not some half-man half-lizard monster am I right!?" "At least you could have tested it on a sample of human dna!" Theresa retaliated. "Now let's not get hasty. I've made sure that I won't stick to walls or start eating flies…." Dr Connors assured, "now let's get to work people!"
Throughout the day, they continued to work on their experiments with Theresa occasionally looking at Dr Connors in unease, worried about what unforeseen side effects that might unfold with the dr's rash decision.
Later that night Dr Connors stayed overnight again while testing and observing various animals used for experimenting. But he then felt a sudden itchy sensation in his new arm. "Argh! Still itchy? Must still be the after effects of it regrowing…" he looked at his regrown arm, but to his horror, it was more reptilian than human. He was shocked in horror before the reptilian transformation spread throughout the rest of his body, the sleeves of his lab busted apart, exposing his now reptilian arms, his shoes and lower sleeves of his pants, exposing his now reptilian feet. Alongside a large tail jutting out his body, as well as several fins from his spine. His face elongated to look like a lizard snout filled with sharp fangs and his hair falling out. Throughout the process, he only convulsed and screamed in pain and agony as his body underwent the hideous transformation.
When his transformation was complete he simply roared as a feral animal before tearing through the facility and escaping into the night….
The next day at the school, Theresa headed for the outside with her friends, "So what I'm saying is that I'm worried about the doc." She continued. "I'm happy that he's cured himself of his arm but I'm worried about any nasty side effects it might bring, I mean he took an untested serum on himself!" "I'm sure it won't be too much of a bad thing!" Juilan replied. Suddenly Theresa's spider sense tingled as something big busted through the halls and caused the students to scream in a panic. She quickly went and hid to change into her alter ego.
The students of Norrisville high ran in fear as the monster ravaged everything in its path before the arachnid vigilante came to the scene. "Alright buddy, I got a big juicy grinder with my name on it so if we could make this— oh dear lord…." She stopped herself upon seeing her large reptilian foe. Soon the ninja followed suit. "Alright spidey, what's the problem?" "Looks like we're dealing with some kind of…" spider gal stuttered upon seeing their enemy: it looked like a large human-lizard hybrid dressed in a purple shirt and tattered blue jeans underneath a ravaged lab coat. "I honestly don't even know what this giant lizard is!" Spider gal continued flabbergasted by this monstrosity. "In fact that's what I'm gonna call it! The lizard! Because 'giant angry human lizard monster thing' takes WAY too long to say!" The monster known as 'the lizard' roared at the two heroes. "That and I think 'fin fang foom' was already taken."
The lizard charged at the two on all fours. The ninja slid underneath the monster with spider gal leapt over the lizard and grabbed its tail. "Look big guy, I don't know what hole you crawled out of, but how about you go back, ok?" The lizard retaliated by slamming spider gal side to side before separating its tail from it's body alongside spider gal. "Ok! I take it as a no!" The monster then crept forward with its tail rapidly regrowing back. Spider gal noticed that she was holding the old tail, which was still flinching in her hands. "Aw, that's just shnasty!" Spider gal gagged as she quickly threw the tail away. The lizard was about to pounce before it was caught by a familiar red scarf. "Ninja… lizard… snatch!" The ninja grunted as he tried to restrain the lizard. Spider gal quickly recovered and grabbed the lizard by the snout and flipped him over, but the reptile grabbed the arachnid and slammed her onto the ground, spider gal the webbed her reptilian in the eyes and quickly cocooned the monster from head to tail and fired many webs at it, locking the lizard in place.
With the lizard entrapped, the two observed their new foe, especially spider gal, where did this monster come from? Is it another cross species like her? She then took a closer look at the lizard, seeing what looked like a keycard on the lab coat, she quickly web snatched it and instantly knew who was in the picture. "This is Dr Curtis Connors' badge…." She realized, then looked at the lizard and instantly knew exactly what this lizard was or who the lizard was! "Wait a minute… Dr Connors was experimenting with reptilian dna! And now there's a giant lizard in the school! Do you realize what this means?" "THE LIZARD ATE DR CONNORS AND STOLE HIS IDENTITY!" The ninja shrieked, while the spider face palmed, "Or… maybe that thing IS Dr connors!" Spider gal corrected. "I told him that rushing the serum to human testing was a bad idea…!" She said to herself. "Dr connors? Is that you?" The lizard then ripped apart the webs and held its head as if it was in pain. "Can you understand me?" "S-Spi…der…gal…" The lizard growled, his voice was like Dr Connors' but more deeper and animalistic. "Connors?" The lizard's eyes widened and realized his friends were standing right before him. "Spider gal… sorry for attacking you, I wasn't myself back there." "Wait, you know this guy?" The ninja asked, confused. "Yeah but that's not important right now, what is that we need to cure you of this lizard situation you got going on!" "That can wait, I think I can help you with stopping a foe of yours: the green goblin!" The lizard replied, "that lunatic that attacked the prom just to get our attention?" The ninja asked confused, "how can you help us find them?" The arachnid superhero added. "I just need something that the goblin left behind and I'll track them down!" The three then left the scene but not before catching the eye of reporter Debbie kang.
At the construction site, the two heroes and the lizard searched the area, looking for anything that could help track down the goblin. "This is the last place I fought the goblin before they smoke bombed back to wherever hole they crawled out of." Spider gal Informed, the lizard began sniffing around the area until he picked up something. "Hmm residue from the goblin's glider, perfect." The reptilian humanoid then pounded from building to building with the goblin's scent. "Whoa whoa Conners slow down!" The two heroes quickly persuaded their mutated friend across the city. Swinging from building to building. "So how exactly is this helping us find the goblin?" Spider gal asked, concerned about what happened at the school. "I'm part reptile now, I've got a tongue for this kinda thing!" The lizard replied, occasionally sticking his tongue out to sniff for the goblin.
The chase continued until they finally ended at an old warehouse in a more secluded part of town. "The trail ends here, they're in there!" The lizard growled before twitching slightly, "Uh doc? Are you okay?" "I-I'm fine…." Dr Connors replied hastily. "Let's just find the goblin okay?" The lizard then pounded onto the roof and bashed a hole into it. The two heroes looked in worry about their friend, then followed suit into the hole.
Inside, they searched for the goblin only to find not just their equipment such as pumpkin bombs broom rockets and bat bullets. "We found the goblin's hideout, but are they home?" The ninja commented, "yo ninja take a look at this!" Spider gal alerted, the ninja turned forward to see what his arachnid comrade was pointing to: it looked like a map of the city, with red markings and circles around various parts of it. "I'm guessing this isn't a restaurant guide…." Spider gal commented, "the green goblin… these must be various places for some kind of plan… possible attack locations maybe?" "Not sure… but judging by the goblin's little attack on the high school, I'm guessing whatever these are aren't good." The ninja replied. "It's best for us to take a picture of it so we have a better understanding of whatever we're dealing with." Spider gal informed as the two took a picture of the map.
After that photo they heard the sound of muffled voices, they stepped forward and saw multiple jars full of stank, but also the lizard confronting the green goblin, "so let me get this straight, you an untested serum all because you wanted your arm back?" The green goblin laughed, "you! A great and wise scientist? Ha!" "At least I'm more sane than you was!" The lizard stuttered, "were, was, err…" "can you hear yourself mutant?" The goblin said, rising on their glider, "you took the brilliant mind of a scientist and turned it into a pee brain!" "Stop play games goblin! Who are you? Why are you doing any of this?" "I'm simply doing what mcfist couldn't." The green goblin turned before typing something on the computer. "Destroying spider gal and the ninja!" "You not get away with this!" The lizard growled, sounding more animalistic. "Says the man who turned himself into a freak!" "You want freak?... I'll show you… grr… freak…." The lizard then roared at it's green advocacy before pouncing onto them. The two tackled each other throwing hands around.
At The same time the two heroes observed this and became distressed by this. "We got to help them!" Spider gal whispered, "or we could let them kill each other!" The ninja replied. "Ninja!" "Ok we'll intervene!"
The two then kicked the goblin in the side as then stood in between both the goblin and the lizard. "Awe like an old married couple you two are!" Spider gal quipped, "stay out of the way spider gal…" the lizard growled. "I have this covered!" "Hate to break it to you Dr C but it looked more like you're gonna eat him!" The lizard roared and tail whipped them. "Now that's just unnecessary!" The lizard roared as he attacked his friends. "Connors, what are you doing?" "Don't you idiots get it?" The green goblin growled, "That's not your friend anymore, it's 100% reptile!" "He's not an 'it'! He's our friend!" Spider gal argued. The arachnid then swung around and tried shooting her webs but nothing happened. "Uh oh…" "uh why aren't you shooting!?" "My web shooters are out!" "You can run out on those things?!" "What? Do you think I just have unlimited webs?" " I thought those just came out naturally!" The lizard then screamed and pounded before being pushed into a wall, causing the structure to break and fall apart. The four immediately ran out before the entire warehouse fell apart.
Once they were outside the two heroes immediately began looking for the lizard, there was no way they were gonna let him remain as that monster. Throughout the city they searched for him, from the zoo to the docks. Fortunately they were able to find the lizard in a subway.
Inside they looked for their scaly friend where he was currently attacking innocent people. "Conners stop! This isn't you!" Spider gal urged, the lizard roared before pouncing onto them, "ninja little help here!" "Ninja rings!" The ninja then threw small rings at the lizard but only proved to be ineffective. "Don't hurt him! That's still Dr Connors!" "How are we gonna stop him if we can't hurt him?" "Just use your ninja scarf quickly!" "Ok fine Ninja lizard snatch!" The Ninja wrapped the lizard up like a present, unfortunately that proved to be ineffective as the lizard quickly pulled away the Ninja with his body, then ripped off one of the support beams with its teeth and hurled it at them. The ninja quickly sliced the beam in half. "Any idea on how to slow him down?" He asked, "hmm Wait… let me see your cold balls!" Spider gal replied, the ninja then gave her friend some of the cold balls and quickly threw them around the lizard. "You missed!" "Did I?" The two noticed the lizard started shaking and fell to the ground curled up, "Lizards are cold blooded, no heat, no movement!" Spider gal continued smugly before refilling her web shooters. "You know you could've refilled those earlier right?" Spider gal then face palmed.
Unfortunately the lizard had warmed himself up and ran away, only for a snapshot to blind him. The two heroes looked behind him to see Debbie Kang with a camera. "Kang what are you doing here?" The ninja asked startled, "what does it look like? I'm snapping pics of the lizard! Or Dr Connors!" Debbie explained proudly, "it's gonna be the NHGTWDPC online edition's biggest scoop yet!" She then ran with the camera before being webbed to the wall by the webbed, "Ahg! What are you doing?!" "Sorry to do this Debbie, but we're not letting you ruin Conners' life!" The webhead retaliated, "she's right, sorry Debbie!" The two then recaptured the lizard before returning Debbie back home and destroying any evidence to the lizard. Debbie only growled, she had an excellent scoop but it was thrown in the trash by spider gal! "This isn't over…."
After webbing up the lizard, the two heroes went to McFist industries to help work on a cure, they were just about to finish halfway through when McFist himself entered, "the ninja!? Spider gal!? What are you two doing here?!" McFist growled before looking at the lizard, who was currently strapped to a table. "And what in god's name is that!?" "Long story short: Dr Conners took an experimental serum to get his arm back but it also turned him into that!" "Well, is there a cure for this?" Spider gal then looked at the research and smirked underneath her mask. "I think there is…."
After a few hours of research, the arachnid superhero returned with a syringe full of a blue liquid then injected it into the lizard, his body then started to convulse and revert back into Dr Conners. "Ugh… spider gal…?" He groaned, recovering from his transformation. "Easy Conners… you just got back from a scaly situation." Spider gal replied, concerned, the Dr then noticed his boss beside him. "I'm guessing I'm fired…." "As much as I want to do that Conners, I'm letting you off the hook." McFist replied rather calmly, "I know what it's like to lose an arm and wanting to get it back…." He held his metal arm as the Dr smiled, "but don't you DARE try ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN!" "I understand McFist…"
At her house, Theresa looked at the photos of the goblin's map. What was the goblin's plan? Possible locations for terror attacks? Secret deals? And all that stank? What did they need it for? Still McFist seemed awfully less angrier than usual, not to mention what the goblin said before they fled during their first encounter… Could McFist be the goblin…?
