(Hoo… that is a lot o kooky characters to work with… Ah, who am I kidding!? So are Sonic characters!)

Prompt:

"If he doesn't get his peanut butter and jelly soon…" Cream worriedly turned to Big, who was puffing up as his cheeks were about to explode.

The family slowed sank down, as Emerl got an idea. "Tails is an inventor!" He exclaimed, robotically gesturing and lightly pushing Tails into the center of attention.

"What are you doing!?" Sonic pulled Emerl over to him, as Emerl sighed and continued, "The kid needs his confidence boost! This could work!"

Amy looked worriedly, before nodding in the desperate plea. "Do you think you could fix it, Tails?"

Tails, nervously twiddling his fingers, looked to Sonic and Emerl.

They gave him fake encouraging smiles, trying to hide their plan, as Sonic whispered over to Emerl– "This better work…"

Once he was finished, Silver quickly looked over to Big, "Hurry, Uncle Big can't take much more… We're running out of time!"

Attaching it to Emerl, Tails took a deep breath, "Go, Emerl."

Emerl let it rip with confidence it would succeed… however…

Chuck and Ella looked on excited, before the PB&J gun malfunctioned and sprayed everywhere.

"No, no, no!" he covered his face, ashamed once more as memories of the science fair flooded back into his mind. He wiped his eyes, hoping to not cry in front of this amazing family and give any further reason to be embarrassed.

"I didn't know how… this place is so futuristic- so, I… I…"

"You failed!" Chuck cried out enthusiastically.

"W-what?"

"A marvelous failure!" Cream sprang up, overjoyed.

Knuckles swung his arm up cheerfully, "And it was awesome!" Silver continued, "Exceptional!" while Chris chimed in, "Outstanding!"

Metal Sonic held up his voice-automated Omochao, who he seemed to control, stating, "Ah… I've seen better."

"From failing.. you learn. From success, eh… not so much."

"If I gave up everytime I failed, I never would have reconstructed the Master Emerald!" Knuckles lovingly stroked his miniature Master Emerald, having been shrunk down in previous experiments.

Amy strode in, "Like my dear brother always said!" She happily moved over to Tails, placing a hand on his shoulder, "Keep moving forward."

That resonated with Tails, as he looked down, and to Sonic.

He weakly smiled again, but looked happy to see Tails thinking about it.

What Tails didn't know was he was responsible for this future. This kooky family was because of his successes giving them a better life. And he had to stop that Egghat guy!

Froggy strode up in a zombie-like movement, on two legs, wearing an egg on his head towards the family as they celebrated.

Eggman, consumed in jealousy and having taken a full black and tattered look to disguise himself– giddily commanded for Froggy to take the fox boy! His feet pressing up on Tails's future time-machine, with Silver and Blaze's added crystals to fuel it.

"…Ribbit." Froggy swayed his little arms out. "Ribbit?"

Eggman realized the little frog couldn't possibly take down a human, and smashed his head against the dashboard, groaning.

"….Ribbit?"

After a chase scene of epic portions by a killer whale being controlled by Eggman, Sonic recognized Eggman! But it was a bit too late…

The family had taken the ridiculous hat off of Tails, and realized he was Miles Prower!

"Sonic!" Amy turned to Sonic, Tails's future best friend. "What have you done!?"

Sonic sheepishly leaned away with a best 'apologic' smile he could muster… Wanting to live out his glory days, he tried to use the time-machine, but Eggman in disguise had stolen the more finished one while he was out.

"S-so what if I'm from the past!" Classic Tails quickly jumped in front of Sonic, "You said you would adopt me… I could be part of this family… Does it really matter? Look at us! Silver is from the future!"

Silver looked around, his eyes shifting, and nervously laughed to try and loosen the awkward tension; sinking down as he did so and almost out of sight.

"Why can't I still be part of everyone…"

Tails never had experienced friends or a family, and Sonic knew that.. but without that science fair experiment going well… he may never meet them at all…

That was how Tails learned he wanted to go into building and electrical stuff! Sonic knew he had to motivate Tails to return home.

And so did Amy…

"I'm sorry, Tails… I… You have to go home."

enraged and feeling once again betrayed, Tails left and was captured by Eggman.

Sonic and the gang defeated Eggman of the past, helping him in the future with his 'later years' and incorporating him into the family, where Tails learned that Amy's so-called 'brother' was actually himself!

Fixated on making sure he would have that future, Tails agreed to return, he won the science fair, he found Sonic, and the rest… is history~3
