Lion 2: The Movie

—…

The day begins inside the Beach House, where Connie is just showing Steven and Vergil a movie trailer on her phone. Connie shows them the trailer for Dogcopter 3 on her phone. Today, Connie was wearing a white and green striped shirt under light blue overalls and red flat shoes.

Movie Narrator as they see scenes of a city on fire {Some people say…} People in helicopters fly in {You can't teach…} An evil giant robot attacks the city, as the helicopters approach it {An old dog…} A robotic dog looks up {New tricks…} The robot destroys the helicopters {Unless you're…} A girl and the dog look and nod at each other, and the dog sprouts propellers in its back {Dogcopter 3, in 3D!} The dog flies towards the robot and shoots a missile from its butt at the robot {This February, the fur hits the fan!}

"Whooaaa…" Steven was in awe as his eyes lit up. "I can see why this is your favorite film franchise."

The three of them were by the counter. Steven and Connie were sitting on stools while Vergil was putting different foods into the Cheeseburger backpack.

Connie adjusts her glasses. "That's right! In a world where humanity is pushed to the brink, it turns out that the one who is most human is a dog!" She proclaimed. "-Copter."

"And did you see where that missile came out of?" Steven innocently added.

Connie blushes and chuckles. "Haha, yeah. I just hope it stays faithful to the book." She looks to Vergil. "What did you think?"

Vergil just smiles at her. "Well, I honestly don't hate your pretentious but nerdy aesthetic." He told her.

"Hey, it's not pretentious…." Connie argued before pausing and smiling a bit. "But, maybe a little nerdy."

"Even so, it's still an aesthetic." Steven added.

Then suddenly, the Warp Pad activates and beams in. Now Connie is the one in awe. "Whooaaa…"

"The Gems are back." Steven noticed.

Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst appear on the warp pad in different poses. Still posing, Garnet spoke. "Greetings."

Vergil looked at them with amusement. "And they just love showing off."

Pearl opens her eyes and notices Connie with them before looking pleased. "Oh! Well, hello, Connie! What a surprise to see you!"

Vergil leaned closer to Connie and whispered in her ear. "I think she likes you…. Platonically."

Connie didn't react to the news and looked back and forth between him and Pearl for a second.

"We're gonna watch a movie about a wacky, flying dog!" Steven exclaimed in excitement. "Show 'em, Connie!"

"I mean, it's about much more than that." Connie said as she held up her phone to the Gems and replayed the trailer.

On the phone screen, Dogcopter barks with a caption reading, "COMING SOON". This made Amethyst chuckle. "Oh-ho-ho, that's easy!" She told the kids as she shapeshifts into Dogcopter and flew into the air.

"Whoooaaa?!" Connie gasped in awe again as Amethyst hovered in the air.

"Who needs to go see movies when you've got, magiiiiiccc!" Amethyst then shapeshifts her head into a boombox and starts playing upbeat tempo music. Garnet bobs her head to the beat while Pearl groans in annoyance.

Steven narrows his eyes at her. "Aw, Vergil was right about you guys showin' off, Amethyst." He commented while Connie stood there, jaw-dropped at what she was seeing. Vergil placed his hand on Connie's chin and helped her close her mouth. "Connie promises that this movie's even better than any magic."

"I did not say that." Connie immediately denied it.

"Yeah, well, it'll be our first time going to the theater." Vergil pointed out.

"Yeah, and check this out!" Steven walks over to the kitchen counter and points to the snacks on top. "We got our own snacks."

Connie then explained to Garnet and Pearl. "My parents say I'm not allowed to buy snacks at the theater, So we're not buying anything at the theater."

"Just don't tell her parents," Vergil added with a grin.

Amethyst shapeshifts her head back to normal and flies past Connie, Garnet, Vergil, and Pearl. "Nom Noms! Feeeed me!"

As she flies towards the snacks, Steven shields the snacks with his arms. "Hands off, Amethyst! These are for me, Vergil, and Connie to share at the movie!"

"Speaking of which, how are we getting to the theater?" Connie asked her two friends. "It's… kinda far."

Steven stuffed all of the snacks into his Cheeseburger Backpack and gave her a look of confidence. "Don't worry, I've got it covered. Today, we're gonna travel in style!"

Vergil nodded and told her. "Prepare to have your mind blown… Again."

Now they were outside Beach House and standing by the shore.

"Introducing the finest in luxury transportation… Lion!" Steven reveals Lion, who is standing at the beach, to an awestruck Connie. Lion looks at the children before yawning and lying down on the sand. "Aw, you little goofball." He presses his face into Lion's mane.

"You have a pet lion?!" Connie asked, slightly frightened.

Steven lifts his face out of Lion's mane. "Lion is sorta like a pet. He does his own thing most of the time, though."

The three of them heard a crunching and chomping sound and looked to see Lion chomping on something as sparkling feathers falls out of his mouth. Steven, Vergil, and Connie look over and see a half-eaten small crystal reptile by Lion's paws.

"See? Who KNOWS where he got that?" Steven gave an example.

"But there's no reason to be afraid." Vergil reassured her. "Despite his looks, he doesn't act like your typical lion, he's more like a fluffy, oversized dog." He explained.

"Wow, you guys. Everything in your life is so awesome and magical." Connie said as she picked up a stick nearby. "The most exciting thing in my life is tennis practice." She gets into a tennis stance and starts swinging it around. "Forehand! Backhand!" For the last one, she held the stick to the center of her body and brought it up before slamming it back down. "Overhead death strike!"

"Whoa! Tennis is rad!" Steven exclaimed.

"But I don't remember tennis having an Overhead death strike?" Vergil pointed out.

Connie picked up the stick again. "Well, I made up that last one."

Lion starts snarling to get their attention.

"I think Lion says we should hurry up and go." Steven guessed. "Or maybe he was just yawning."

"Knowing Lion, either one is possible." Vergil commented.

"Anyways, let's go to the movie! Steven raises his arms up in joy.

Steven and Connie get onto Lion's back, with Steven in the front and Connie behind him. Vergil stayed on the sand, though.

"And we're off!" Steven declared.

"Wait, what about Vergil?" Connie pointed out.

Vergil shook his head. "Don't worry about me. I have my own method of transport."

Vergil then held out his arms, and using his powers, he shapeshifted his arms into his black, feathery wings.

Connie's eyes lit up in amazement. "You have WINGS!"

Steven nodded. "Yeah, that was my reaction when I first saw them."

"Can you fly with them?" Connie asked, still surprised.

"More or less." Vergil replied.

"And now, let's go!" Steven declared.

.

.

.

Lion just stands there and stares blankly into space.

"Uhh… Lion, I want you to take us to the movie." Steven tried. After waiting a few seconds, Lion is still not moving. "Okay, you're not listening to me."

"I should have known." Vergil frowned. "Lion practically never listens to what you say."

Steven turns to Connie and chuckles nervously. "Yeah, well, Lion isn't trained very well. But I'm not trained very well either, so we're a—"

Lion's eyes suddenly widen, and he roars. This took them by surprise as the two of them hang on, and he rears up on his hind legs before he begins charging forward. Vergil used his wings to fly after them and moved at Lion's pace. After the surprise wore off, they all laughed as Lion runs along the boardwalk, before changing direction, and starting to run toward the ocean.

"Whoa!" Steven Connie gasped.

Vergil's eyes widen. "That's not good."

"Waaait, Lion! Don't go in the oceeeeeaaaaan!" Steven yelled before he and Connie screamed. Lion leaps forward to the ocean, falling towards the deep end as the two children brace for impact. However, surprisingly enough, when he lands on the water's surface, Lion is standing upright, as if he is on land.

Connie adjusted her glasses as Steven looked at his pet in wonder. "You can walk on water?! Why don't you tell me you can do these things you d—" Lion starts running again. "-ooooo?!"

Lion continues to run on the water with Steven and Connie riding happily on its back. Some seagulls join in to fly alongside the group Vergil flies with the seagulls as if he was one of them.

"Hahaha! Flying is great, but a lion that can run on the ocean is a close second." Vergil commented.

"It sure is!" Steven agreed, enjoying himself.

A fishing boat with people on it comes into view as Lion runs past it. They were close to the side of the boat. Steven waves at the shocked sailors on the boat. "Hey-o!"

Vergil joined and smiled at them. "Happy sailing!"

The three of them begin to laugh. The shadows of two whales can be seen underwater as Lion keeps running out to sea. Connie soon notices they are getting further and further away from Beach City, and Connie becomes worried. "Uh… Are you sure he knows where he's going?"

"Maybe it's… a shortcut?" Steven guessed, not sounding sure.

At that point, Lion's eyes begin to glow white as he emits a magical roar. The roar shoots across the water and shifts around a bit before it then transforms into a white portal with a pink edge. Lion runs right towards it while Steven and Connie scream as Lion dives into the portal.

"Wait for me!" Vergil shouted as he hastily dived into the portal as well, and it closed up behind him.

The group was now warping through a dimensional transport space with a starry blue and white background. Steven and Connie continue to scream as Steven clings onto Lion's mane while Connie has her arms wrapped around Steven's waist. Vergil seemed to be getting the worst end of it as he was screaming, and he felt his body being pulled and stretched by the space they were in.

"Is THIS what being High feels like?!" Vergil shouted in dismay.

"Has he ever done this?!" Connie asked, hanging on for dear life.

"No! This is new!" Steven answered, trying to keep a hold of Lion's mane.

Their time in the portal soon ended as the portal opened up in a cave location with a huge circular platform in the center of a shallow lake. The group emerges through the portal, Lion skids across the water, and Vergil emerges from the portal a second later. The portal then closes.

While Vergil crashes into the shallow water and shapeshifts his wings back into arms, Steven and Connie groan in awe from the excitement. Lion then sits down, causing Steven and Connie to fall off of him and into the shallow water near Vergil.

Steven shook the water off his head like a dog and looked at Connie. "Are you okay?"

Connie pushed her wet hair off her face and quietly said. "That was really cool."

Vergil spat out some water and got up. "It sure was, but where are we anyway?"

Lion, now atop the platform, growls at them to draw their attention and begins walking to the center of the platform.

"Lion!" Steven climbs up after him to the platform. "Wait! Where are you going?!"

Steven stops at the top and gasps when Connie, looking around distractedly in wonder, bumps into him. Vergil then walked up the platform as well and looked surprised as well.

"Whoa! Is this one of those magic Gem places that you guys told me about?"

"It must be, but I've never seen anything like it." Vergil noted, looking around. "We've never gone on a mission where we went to a place like this either."

The platform itself didn't seem to have anything on it aside from a spiral-like pattern in the center, looking similar to a rose. The three of them start walking toward the center of the platform when suddenly, after stepping on the pattern, the ground suddenly lights up in light pink beneath their feet. The light zooms in towards the center of the platform and becomes a short beam, with Lion standing next to it.

"Yep. Magic Gem place." Steven confirmed.

They watch as the beam fades away, and a hand-shaped pedestal with Rose Quartz's symbol rises out from the platform. Steven, Vergil, and Connie run over to inspect the pedestal.

"Lion, normally I'm all about this stuff, but this is not the movies." Steven told his animal friend while the other two inspected the pedestal.

Lion growls in response.

"What does that me, Lion?" Steven asked incredulously as he threw his hands up in exasperation. "What does that even mean?"

"Hey Steven, you might want to look at this." Vergil told him, looking at the top of the hand-shaped pedestal. "This mark on the hand is the mark of Rose Quartz."

"My Mom?" Steven asked, surprised as he looked as well.

After examining the pedestal, Connie took notice of what he said and sat up. "Wait, what?" She asked, surprised. "Steven's Mom?"

Vergil nodded. "Yeah, I've seen that mark enough times to know it's hers."

"So then, this place belonged to my Mom?" Steven asked, not knowing how to feel about this.

"There's a very good chance." Vergil told him.

"Steven… What if he brought you here… For a reason?" Connie wondered.

"Well, maybe, but if we don't hurry, we're gonna miss the commercials." Steven complained and began to count on his fingers. Connie stood up, placing a finger on her cheek in a thinking manner. "And then we might miss the previews, and we still have to find the perfect seats, seats…" She then picked up one of Steven's hands and placed it on the structure. "…Near the front but not too close…"

He stopped when, after his hand was placed on the structure, it began to glow—Making Vergil, Steven, and Connie gasp. The platform began to glow white now as the young girl looked around at the glowing platform. "Hey, I think it likes you!" She said loudly.

"Huh, guess it's activated by touch." Vergil took note of it.

Steven tries to take his hand off the pedestal. "Ah! AAAH! My hand's stuck! It won't… Come off!"

"Hang on! Vergil, help me!" The two of them try to help Steven yank his hand off the pedestal, with no luck, as it really felt like it was stuck. "Man, that's really stuck on good. I guess we'll have to chop it off." Connie suggested.

"What?!" Steven incredulously asked.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a pink pillar rose up from the platform a few feet away. Reveal a white case that opened to reveal many swords in a straight line.

"What the?" Vergil blinked with confusion.

Connie puts both of her arms close to her body in an excited gesture. "Hey, Swords!"

Steven became panicked and suddenly shouted. "NO!"

The swords retract back into the white case and back into the platform.

"Whoa, calm down, would ya? She was just kidding." Vergil told him.

"How'd you do that?" Connie asked about the retracting swords.

"I don't know." Steven admitted.

Connie starts shaking Steven in excitement. "Do it again! Do it again!"

"Calm down already." Vergil put his hand on her shoulder. "Geez, what is with you two? Anyways, I think it responds to what you say, considering the swords came when Connie said, "Chop it off," and they went away when you said, "No"." He theorized.

"Then what do I say now?" Steven asked.

"I don't know, just… Try anything. Go nuts." Vergil guessed.

"Um, okay." He begins straining his arm and grunting, trying to make something happen. However, nothing happened, and he stopped. "Anything?"

"No…" Connie shook her head.

"Try using syllables and sentences next time." Vergil said deadpanned.

Connie placed a hand on Steven's shoulder, looking over to her right before looking at Steven. "Here." She pinches Steven's arm.

Steven flinches. "Ow! What are you—" Connie then pulls Steven's ear. "Hey!" After she let go, Steven faced her. "What are you doing?"

"Good question. What are you doing?" Vergil asked as well.

"I'm trying to see if I can create a reaction through touch instead of direct commands." Connie explained.

Vergil raised a brow. "So… You're just going for broke?"

"It's worth a try." Connie reasoned before going back to Steven. "Maybe if I do… This!" She pokes Steven sharply on his side.

Steven jerks and hunches over the pedestal, giggling. "Wait, I'm ticklish!" He cried out. Connie smiled as continued poking Steven in his side, causing him to laugh uncontrollably. "Wait. Stop. Stop. I'm gonna pee!"

Connie kept poking and turned to Vergil. "Vergil, help!" She requested, enjoying herself.

Steven also looked at him. "Vergil, help." He pleaded through his laughter.

"I am so confused right now." Vergil said, watching them.

Suddenly series of armor suits rise out of the platform all around the group. The armors were all different styles and from different regions of the world and had a pink square floating above it.

The three of them looked at the armors in amazement. "Whoa, look at all this armor!" Connie exclaimed.

"There's a different set for almost every region in the world." Vergil admired.

"Press my nose! Press my nose!" Steven insisted.

Vergil pushes a finger against Steven's nose. "Boop!"

The suits of armor retract back into the platform. Three laser light cannons attached together then emerge out of the platform. Steven gasped. "Are those Light Cannons?"

"Laser Light Cannons." Vergil corrected.

Connie grabs the corners of Steven's mouth and pulls them. "Next!"

A bunch of axes rises out of the platform.

[Axes!] They all exclaimed.

A statue of a woman with her arms outstretched, and three spikey chain balls hanging on each arm then rises out of the platform.

[Spikey chain balls!]

A giant bronze coin follows out of the platform, much to their confusion.

[A giant…?] They started before pausing.

"…...Penny?" Steven said as if it was a question.

Connie took her hand off Steven's shoulder and pondered. "Does that mean it's worth more than a regular penny?"

"Well, that would make… "cents"." Steven joked with a wide grin.

Steven Connie while Vergil raised his hand. "First of all, bad joke. Secondly, Gems don't use money, so it actually doesn't make "cents"."

Lion proceeds to lie down on his side at the edge of the platform, looking rather bored.

"This is so great, but…" Connie's excited expression begins to change into one of worry. "I get the feeling, though, I'm not really supposed to be here."

"Well, technically, neither of us is supposed to be here." Vergil told her as he looked at Steven. "I think I know where we are now."

[You do?] Steven Connie asked.

"I remember Pearl once telling me that the Crystal Gems used weapons besides the ones they kept in their Gems back in the day. Rose Quartz, in particular, had a secret armory where she kept all her stuff." Vergil explained to them. "I wasn't sure at first, but after seeing those Laser Light Cannons—Something that belonged to her, I'm sure this is Rose Quartz's armory."

"So all this belongs to my Mom?" Steven asked in amazement.

"Correction, all this belongs to you now." Vergil corrected. "Since you were able to turn the thing on, that means it recognizes you as the owner."

"Then, I guess that means we shouldn't be here?" Connie said, looking down.

Vergil shrugged. "That's right. Truthfully, only Steven should be here."

"But I want you two here! I mean, I don't want you here." Steven said, gesturing to the cave. "I guess Lion wants us here. But I want us to be at the movies! And I want to see lots of explosions."

Connie looked reassured, while Vergil suddenly looked startled. "Wait, there might be a problem with saying—!"

Before he could finish, the pedestal and platform suddenly stopped glowing. Steven, his hand now freed, stumbles back onto Connie as the pedestal sinks back into the platform. A whirring noise is heard as a wide glowing white circle appears on the platform, and something new comes out of it. A robot that resembles a Polynesian tiki rises out of the wide circle on the platform. The robot turns around to face Steven, Vergil, and Connie. Steven and Connie gasp while Vergil summons his weapon as triangular walls begin to rise all over the platform.

"Should we be worried about this?" Connie asked, clearly worried.

"Uh…" Before answering, Steven turns to look at Lion, who is yawning and napping. "Lion doesn't seem to be worried."

"But knowing our luck, I'd say we're in trouble." Vergil pointed out.

The triangular walls begin to glow white, and the robot glows yellow. A crackling sound can be heard as the robot generates a ball of electricity from its cannon.

"Run!" Steven yelled.

Vergil, Steven, and Connie scattered in opposite directions as the electricity ball exploded behind where they were just standing. Vergil hid behind one of the triangles as the robot turned its lower half started glowing blue in various places, and floated after Steven.

Steven was running and gasping as he yelled. "Connie!"

Connie was running as well. "Steven! Look out!"

Steven spots the robot in front of him, halting in his tracks. As the robot was about to fire at Steven, Vergil ran out of cover and jumped high into the air. With his sword raised high over his head, he brings it down on the robot's right head.

"SKYFALL SLASH!"

The slash hit. However, it didn't cut the machine, and the sword simply knocked it down to the floor in a crash. When it regained its altitude, the robot fired an ice beam at him, but Vergil ducked behind another triangle as the ice froze where he was previously standing.

"Vergil! What do we do?!" Connie yelled.

"Just keep running!" Vergil told her.

The robot moved its lower half again and, this time, began to glow orange. Steven and Connie looked up at it with looks of intense fear as, this time, turns their attention to Connie.

Connie was visibly frightened. "Ah!"

"Connie!" Steven tries to run forward Connie but slips on the ice. "Ah!"

"Hang on!" Vergil yelled as he ran forward.

The robot starts shooting fireballs at Connie. Fortunately for her, Vergil grabbed her, dodged, and jumped out of the way. Steven gets up and helps Connie up on her feet. The robot floats over and prepares to shoot another fireball at the trio. Steven and Connie held hands and closed their eyes in fear, whilst Vergil stood firmly in front of them in a protective manner with his sword in hand.

However, Steven formed his protective bubble around himself and the two with him. But when the fireball hit the bubble, the bubble exploded, and the force sent Vergil, Steven, and Connie up into the air. They are then surrounded by a ring of fire and visibly hurt.

Steven groins in pain. "Ugh… My bubble."

"What the fireball even is that thing?" Vergil grunted as he sat up.

Steven then notices Lion approaching him. "Lion! Get us out of here, Lion, please!"

Lion stares at Steven for a brief moment before lying down on his stomach. Steven and Connie quickly get on top of Lion's back. Whirring and crackling noises can be heard as the robot, glowing yellow, aims another electric ball at the group. Lion jumps off of the platform and into the water, dodging the robot's attacks, before roaring another portal open and diving through it.)white. The robot began to glow yellow in its various openings, and a crackling sound could be heard. The robot formed a ball of electricity and fired it at the humans. Lion roared and opened another portal, which he jumped through while bringing out his wings and flying after them.

When they came out the other side of the portal, Lion skidded across the road, and Vergil landed safely, this time outside of the movie theater that they'd been trying to get to the whole day. The lady working in the ticket booth looked surprised at the very beat-up-looking Vergil, Steven, and Connie.

"What?" Steven looked at the theater and threw his arms out in anger. "Now you take us to the movies?!" Lion just closed his eyes and sat down, causing his passengers to fall off of his back.

Vergil goes over to them. "Is everyone okay?"

"I think, Ugh!" Steven groans and sits up. "Connie?"

Connie touches a burn on the side of her face. "Ah."

Steven became startled at that. "Connie, here. I have something for that." Steven pulls a soda can out of his backpack and hands it to Connie. "Sorry. They're not that cool."

Connie accepts the soda can and presses it against her cheek, looking sad but smiling weakly. "Thanks."

Steven has a can of soda pressed against his cheek too, while Vergil sighed and sat down. "And to think, this morning we were just planning to go see a movie, and now all of this."

"Does this happen often?" Connie asked.

"Like you wouldn't believe, most of the time, doing the simplest of things can lead to major issues." Vergil said.

Steven looked up at the theater. "Well, we're here. Shall we go in?" He asked.

But unlike Steven, Connie looked down sadly. "That's okay. L-let's just forget about it."

Steven and Vergil glanced at her with surprised expressions. "What?/Huh?" They both asked.

Steven reached a hand towards Connie to comfort her but put his hand down with an upset expression. "I-I'm sorry!" he said in shame before putting a hand on his head in frustration. "Ugh! I ruined everything, didn't I? I don't know why the two of you hang out with me. I mess stuff up all the time."

While the girl looked at him with surprise, Isaac sighed and said, "Oh, come on. You know that's not… entirely true."

"And I don't know why you hang out with me!" Connie exclaimed. "I'm so much more... less interesting than you two! And obviously, you and Vergil have some sort of magical destiny." She stared down sadly, and her voice became softer and more depressed. "Why would you even care about something like Dogcopter?"

The young boy was surprised by her statement. "Why?! Because it's Dogcopter!" He exclaimed, thrusting his body forward in excitement. "He's a dog and a helicopter and a cop! He shoots missiles out of his butt, and he's gonna save the world!" Steven yelled, throwing up his hands and getting stars in his eyes, his signature look of excitement. "Dogcopter is very cool and important…" He looked down shyly. "…To me."

The girl looked at him for a moment before averting her eyes in shame. "Well, I'm no Dogcopter."

Vergil sighed. "Seriously, how awkward can you two be?"

They both looked at him as he went on. "You two are overthinking all these this. Destiny, Dogcopter, what does it even matter what's more interesting or important?" He asked them nonchalantly. "If you ask me, you're both just overthinking things."

"But… You and Steven have magic, and go on adventures, and protect the Earth." Connie listed down. "Compared to all that, all I can do is practice tennis and go to the movies." She pointed out, still upset.

"But Dogcopter is a Dog, a cop, and a helicopter!" Steven exclaimed with insistence. "How can anyone ever pass that up."

"You know? there's an old saying: Someone who spends all his time looking at someone else will never know himself." Vergil quoted. "Connie, because you've only lived like a normal human your whole life, all this Gem stuff seems overwhelming to you, and what was normal for you seems small in comparison, right?"

Connie averted her eyes but nodded. "Yeah, that is how I feel."

"On the flip side." Vergil then looked at Steven. "Because we—Or to make a point, Steven has known only Gem stuff his whole life while hardly ever experiencing most of the ordinary things most people enjoy all the time. Things like going to the theater are all new experiences, and that's why they all seem so amazing to him, more so the actual magic, right?"

Steven happily nodded. "Magic is magic, but Dogcopter goes beyond that."

"The point is, what's important to someone depends on how they see things; Gem stuff and going to the movies can both be important if you think they are." Vergil reasoned to both of them as he stood up. "So instead of worrying about what is or isn't, why not just enjoy ourselves and do what's fun?"

"Yeah, you're right." Steven agreed as he stood up, too.

Connie remained sitting until she looked at them, and they both smiled at her. She then smiled back and stood up as well.

BOOM!

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a fireball hits a car behind Connie, and it explodes.

"What the—?" Steven yelled before hearing Lion snarl. They turned around and stood beside the giant lion.

"Oh no!" Connie gasped.

The robot had followed them through Lion's portal and had gotten stuck in it. "It's the robot shooty thing!" Steven yelled as the robot began to glow in all different colors.

"Are you telling me the portal's been open this whole time?!" Vergil asked, frustrated.

Steven looked at Vergil for help. "How are we supposed to beat it?" He then turned to Lion. "Lion, what do we do?"

Lion's eyes suddenly started glowing white. Then his mane started to glow as he leaned down until his head was near the ground and something stuck out of his forehead. This turned out to be the grip of a sword that had a slightly dark pink with a hint of red pommel resembling a rosebud with a Rose Quartz embedded in it. The guard and knuckle bow of the sword were pink, with the guard having an image of a four-petaled white flower in the middle. The grip was dark pink, and the grip, guard, and knuckle bow were inscribed with a twirling thorn design.

With eyes widened and his iris turning to stars, Steven grabbed the sword and began to pull it out of Lion's head as Vergil and Connie watched in awe. "Uh... This is weird, right?" He asked unsurely.

When Steven finally pulled it out, he held it above his head. The sword's cupped hilt and broad blade with its tantō tip were reminiscent of a 17th-century military cutlass. The blade was bright pink, and at the base of it, the rain guard was shaped like a pink rose, with the two outer petals being dark pink.

"You have a Sword in your head?!" Steven asked Lion incredulously. "Why don't you tell me you can do these things you do?!"

The robot began to move again and managed to get through the portal.

"It came through!" Connie yelled in horror.

The robot then started to rotate quickly and rapidly, firing balls of many different elements in all directions, smashing them into various places. Even the surprised ticket booth lady had to duck down to avoid getting hit by an elemental ball.

The robot continued to fire at things, causing a sign from the movie theater to fall right in front of Vergil, Steven, Connie, and Lion. "What do I do with this?" Steven asked, not knowing how to use the sword he was holding.

"Watch out!" Connie yelled at him. Grabbing onto the sword with him, they held the sword in a tennis-like move that deflected an oncoming electricity ball—sending it back inside the robot. When the two kids saw this, they exchanged happy glances.

Vergil summoned his sword as well and looked at them. "Cover me."

He then dashed forth towards the robot as it shot a fireball at them. Vergil evaded it as it went to the other two.

"Forehand!" Connie yelled, and they swung the sword from left to right, deflecting the fireball

"Backhand!" Steven yelled, throwing a fist in the air, and Vergil dodged an iceball while they swung the sword right to left, deflecting another iceball.

He closed in and jumped as the kids did before getting ready for the final blow.

[Overhead… Death Strike!] They both roared, bringing the Sword up and then swinging it down. With his immense strength, sending the fireball launched at them, flying right back into the robot.

The impact caused the robot to let out a whirring and clanging sound as it started glowing red.

Seeing the perfect opportunity, Vergil brought forth his blade and struck at the center.

"PIERCING DRIVE!"

The impact of the strike, along with the fireball, was too much for the robot to take as it flailed around before violently exploding in the air.

Connie and Steven stared at the destruction of the robot menace with awestruck faces. "Just like tennis practice." she whispered.

"Magical destiny practice." Steven then whispered.

Riding the aftershock of the explosion, Vergil landed on the ground next to them and placed his sword back in his Gem. "Ha, let's see Prince of Tennis do that."

Meanwhile, the ticket booth lady stood up again and peered out to see if it was safe. With nothing better to do, Steven, Vergil, Connie, and Lion stood in front of the booth. "Hi!" Steven said, looking happy and innocent as a flaming tire rolled by. Connie was standing next to him, holding the sword that came out of Lion slung on her shoulder. Vergil was standing beside her with his arms crossed behind his head and a relaxed expression. And Lion himself was peaking at the side of the window.

After briefly scanning the fight scene, the lady smiled awkwardly. "Uh, hello."

"Three kids and…" Steven paused to look at Lion as he was staring into the ticket booth and snorted on the glass, causing it to fog up briefly. "…One lion to see Dogcopter."

The ticket booth lady stared at Lion for a moment and then back at Vergil before leaning in slightly. "Um, do you have a rewards card?"

"Whoa! Was that in the book?" Steven asked, looking at the screen in amazement with Connie as an explosion went off in the movie.

The three kids and even Lion were sitting in the theater and wearing 3D glasses. Steven was eating popcorn, and Connie was drinking a soda. "Eh, they're taking some liberties."

"Maybe, but you can't beat animation." Vergil added.

A star iris, parodying M.G.M. films, zooms in on Lion wearing 3D glasses, too. Lion growls softly as the chapter ends.

And that's the chapter. First of all, I know this chapter is late, but sadly, I've been sick for the past few days. I'm still sick now, but I've gotten better enough to get out of bed. And I just wanted to get this chapter out as soon as I could.

This wasn't a very epic chapter, but we got the Sword and the armory shown as well, and they got to spend more time with Connie, which is something I always enjoy.

Anyway, thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed. If you want more, then be sure to leave a review. If you like the story, click follow or favorite, and as always, have an awesome day.
