(Hi, guys, really struggling with preview art right now. If you have friends, or even yourself, that wouldn't mind me crediting your art to preview for my story, I would be very appreciative!)

Prompt:

After a huge skirmish in the middle of a race, Sonic and Jet were disqualified. The judge over the event stated that either Sonic and Jet- "Put aside their differences, or they shall never race again!"

The thumping of the judge's verdict left both Jet and Sonic flinching at the echoed sound of that decree.

They both glared with downward frowns, blaring their teeth at one another, before swiping their heads away and folding their arms with a 'hmph!'.

Later, Tails stated that by the verdict of the law, they needed to become sociable.

"Sociable?" Sonic leaned forward, hands on his hips. "He's the one that's been trying to cheat!"

"One time, Sonic! And- Grrrr….! Like I don't see you pretending your board is out of gas so you run to catch up the last few meters!"

The two locked foreheads, pushing and straining against the other before Tails pushed them away and out from each other.

"Stop it, you two! We've barely made it out from the courtroom and already you're-"

As he struggled, the two completely ignored him, before Jet looked over to see a loose can on the ground near the garbage and picked it up, denting it and then smirking.

"Don't-!" Tails warned but he threw it anyway.

Sonic looked surprised but ducked, as the can went flying into a man's hat, replacing it perfectly as the man walked on, not noticing.

The two suddenly snickered as Tails's whole face looked horrified.

"That man thinks that can is his hat!" Tails wanted to fly over and correct the wrong before he noticed something odd…

Sonic and Jet we're roaring with laughter.

Lifting their heads back.

Slapping their knees.

Clenching their stomachs.

Tails's boyhood also made him realize the humor of it and he slightly snickered behind his hand, thinking up his own prank…

"You two should pull some pranks together!" he cheered, liking the idea.

The two stopped laughing and looked at each other; in disgust, they turned away.

"Come on! You two share a lot of the same humor… you can't deny that!" Tails smiled.

The two suddenly rolled their eyes back to each other.

Then wicked smirks.

"Bet I can pull better pranks than you." Sonic urged.

"You're on!" Jet spun around, holding his hand out as Sonic gripped it with a firm shake of competition. "But I'll warn ya, Sonic! I'm the pranking champion! Not only do I know how to fly to the finish line, but I can soar to glory with my pranks!"

"Like I said before, Birdbrain." Sonic held a confident expression, "I don't' need wings to fly! Or prank better than you!"

The two were off at once, Jet making spit-wads and firing at kid's necks so they'll fight with their siblings or friends, and as the worried parents went to get up- WHAM! pie in the face and Sonic would slip a woopie-cushion under their seat for when they fell back, shocked.

The kids would laugh, and I'm not just talking about Sonic and Jet.

After a few eventful pranks, the two had their arms around the other's shoulder, wiping tears away at the laughs they've shared.

"Wooo.. you know? You're not half bad when you're grounded." Jet teased.

"You're not a sour-puss, yourself, Jet." Sonic grinned, before patting his back. "Haha! Or a sore-loser! I totally won that prank war!"

"What?!″ Jet's anger forced him to move away from Sonic, hunched with fists tight, "Are you suggesting you think YOUR pranks were better than my masterpieces?! I'm the brains to this! You're just the lackey!"

"Lackey!?" Sonic and Jet fought once more, about to have a physical 'wrestle' of sorts before the two saw Shadow zip by on his board with Rouge…

Suddenly, the two's heads followed behind closely in the direction he went off too.

Looking to each other, they smirked once again in their mischievous ways.

"Ulimate challenge. Winner takes all." Jet smirked.

"Shadow? No problem. Heh, the one that makes him the most ticked wins!" Sonic shook on it.

Shadow had a… odd… day.

He sat down to get a cool beverage when his straw was replaced by a worm.

He only looked at it, before flicking it away and drinking the drink.

Sonic and Jet above him, hiding on the drapped outdoor shade, we're stunned.

They 'grr'd as their ears swiped back, and slowly withdrew themselves out of view.

Shadow tried to get off his board, but he noticed glue all over its surface. He Chaos speared and destroyed his board, before fixing up a new one.

Again, he was completely calm.

Now they were just shocked.

"We've gotta make this one big!" Jet whispered, rubbing his hands together.

"Nothing seems to shake this guy." Sonic frowned, before rubbing a hand against his chin…

They both got light-bulbs at the same time. They turned to each other and grinned wildly.

The next second, there was a false announcement about a missing 'Maria' claiming to be looking for her friend.

Shadow's ears flicked at the name, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

Suddenly, in disguise, Sonic and Jet hid behind menus and talked about seeing a little girl by the lake.

Shadow, now finally phased, quickly looked out towards a park.

"Oh yes, dear~" Jet disguised his voice as they were both playing older women, "No parents. Just rambling on about her lost friend… Then that creepy old man walking after her..."

In that moment, the two saw Shadow leap to his feet, his eyes strained with concern.

Sonic started having doubts, 'Is this too far? Shadow is actually acting a good guy here.."

But when he looked back at Jet, he was whacked with the menu, "I'm not going to be the only one speaking like a sissy girl!" And Sonic felt he should continue.

He pulled the menu up over his face, "I.. I don't think we should make assumptions now…"

Jet cocked an eyebrow up, before nudging Sonic in the shoulder, "What are you doing!?" he whispered, "Get him to the lake!"

"Have a heart, Jet!" Sonic whispered back but with more anger this time. "I should have never told you to use that name!"

"Tsk. Forget you then. I'm winning this bet." Jet then cleared his throat, taking Sonic's menu and fanning himself as he continued the rouse. "Oh yes, you're right, silly me! I shouldn't assume the worse for that poor… innocent little girl.~"

Sonic ducked to avoid being spotted as Shadow took off to the lake.

As Shadow approached, there was a silhouette of something small in a blue, standing by the lake.

"…It.." he felt his heart stop. "It can't be…"

Then the figure dropped into the lake, a shadowy string attached to it.

Shadow burst through at lightning speeds, skating off the edge and grabbing the figure.

Falling into the lake, he guarded the head and went crashing in.

"Ah! He really did fall in!" Jet snickered, but Sonic held the string and looked away… ashamed.

"This isn't funny anymore, Jet." he dropped the string and raced to the edge of the lake.

"Huh? What's his problem? Wasn't he just onboard a second ago? Hmph." he folded his arms, not understanding.

Sonic looked over the edge of the lake, "Shadow! Are you al-" he felt his heart sink as Shadow came up from the water, holding the strung together bag of rocks with a smiley face on it.

He moved to the edge of the lake and got out, dropping it before staring with an intenseness at Sonic.

It occurred to Sonic then that he was dead.

The brawl started as Sonic tried to apologize.

He dodged, "Shadow! I-It's not what it looks like!"

But it was futile until finally Shadow gripped his neck and pulled him upward.

Sonic gripped his hand, "I'm sorry!" he breathed out, feeling the squeeze intensify before Shadow's eyebrow rose up.

"You really are a good guy… and you care about her… I'm sorry!" he was losing air quickly, but Shadow dropped him.

"I know you weren't foolish enough to think of this all on your own. Even you… have some decency." He looked around.

Jet was laughing his head off at Sonic's 'punishment' before looking out from the bushes and seeing Shadow's eyes set on him.

He ducked.

Shadow charged.

Sonic chuckled slightly as he caught his breath, watching Jet scramble for his life when Chaos Spears were launched on his burning tail-feathers.

"That'll show 'em." Sonic lightly breathed out… before smiling.

"That's enough pranks… for one day."
