Olivia heaved. She was extremely sick to her stomach.
"Liv? You alright?"
Olivia managed to flush and rinse her mouth out. She was still all sweaty when she opened the door.
"Do you think…?"
Olivia shook her head. "I don't know. But this damn case. It's disgusting. What I walked in on…" She shuddered.
"Do I want to know?"
"Cross statutory with incest… Do the math."
"Jesus." He crossed himself.
Olivia didn't last long before she was heaving again.
"Woah, okay…" Rafael knelt down and swept her hair back and out of the way. He rubbed her back gently and tried not to breathe much. When that round was over, he wet a washcloth and dabbed her face and neck with it. "Maybe it's time to take a test," he suggested. "Just to see."
"Rafa, it's so unlikely…"
"But not impossible."
"A bit early yet, too. But maybe in a couple weeks."
"Alright. Do you think that was the last of it, or do we need to set up camp?"
"I think I just need to brush my teeth a few times and bleach my brain."
"Okay." Rafael helped her back to her feet and then let her have some privacy. One way or another he would give Olivia that little girl, but for the time being it was nice to imagine she might possibly swell with his little girl.
Rafael was included in the office party for Fin and got to see a different side of him as he was introduced to his freshly adopted grandson. The kid was adorable and Fin's son and partner were beaming with new parental pride. He didn't miss the way Olivia occasionally brushed her hand against her own belly absent-mindedly, but wishfully.
He was happy to be amidst the team, although it came with questions and teasing. He was accepted, even as far as to get a turn along with everyone else to hold the little one, Jaden.
"When are you going to get one of those, Carisi?" Olivia teased, as he was the only one of them who wasn't a parent yet.
"O Dio mio, O Dio mio, hey, now! Got plenty of time before all that."
Everyone laughed. They enjoyed the company and were grateful for the phones to be quiet long enough for them to have cake. There were playful catcalls when Olivia took Rafael away to walk him to the parking lot.
"They are relentless."
"No kidding." Olivia looped her arms around his neck. "How was that for you?"
"It was fun. Like before, but even better."
"Amazing when people actually like you, isn't it?" Olivia teased.
"Hey, now. I wasn't that bad."
"What does that really mean on the spectrum of lawyers?"
Rafael chuckled. "Someone's sassy today. Shame I have to let her work."
Olivia kissed him. Once. Twice. One last, lingering time. She smiled at him. "Miss you already. Good luck with your client."
