Prompt:

Upon journeying once more to seek the aided aid of Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic accidentally unleashes a great evil upon his past.

Forced to protect his past and still have his little self meet all his future friends, Modern Sonic works behind the scenes and decides to not involved his littler self in this adventure.

The great evil seeks to destroy Sonic's past, and in return, destroy his future of ever having defeated him, but who is this menace, exactly?

Sonic travels through levels, finding old nostalgia amusing, before realizing this great evil's true dastardly plot!

Upon arriving in Palm Tree Panic, Sonic halts to survey the area. "Oh." He smiles, "I vaguely remember this place." He takes a second, as he is now accustomed to doing, and folds his arms to take in the place.

It's been a long time… as he faces away from a figure slowly creeping up on him…

He looks rather content, a warm breeze on his face as the palm trees and flowers sway, before his head turns to a noise, "Huh? Hey!" he quickly zips around, thinking it to be one of the great evil's forms that he takes. "Grr.. Show yourself!" he swipes his hand out, seeing something rattling in the bush.

He approaches it cautiously, before smirking and parting the bush, "AH-HA!"

A high pitch squeal rings horrified and scared from the bush, before a hammer flings out and smacks into Sonic's face.

He's disoriented and steps back, wobbly in footing as he tries to rip the hammer off his face.

His voice is muffled by it, but he finally rips it off, rubbing the side of his cheek. "Oww…. Huh?" he examines the hammer, moving it around in his hands. "This… looks a lot smaller than the one I'm used to… so that means…" he slowly shifts his head back to the bush.

"Aw, did I scare you? My bad." He rubs the back of his head, smiling sheepishly. "I won't hurt ya, you can come out now." He bends down, trying to peer through the bush, as a pair of green eyes in the dark shade stare back at him.

He smiles and tilts his head, trying to be friendly. "Hey there…"

But the eyes look frightened, slipping back into the dark.

"Huh? Ohh.." He looks a bit disappointed, before squatting down and scratching his head. "Hmm.. this isn't how I remember it at all." As he does so, he turns his attention back to the hammer.

With a sudden idea as he tossing the hammer up and catching it's handle, his eyes widen and he looks back to the bush.

"Don't you want your hammer back?" He gets up, excitedly, and turns the hammer's handle to her.

A weary hand reaches out for it, but he flips it up. "Haha! Come and get it!" he starts juggling it in a since, doing a funny dance with his feet to try and get her to come out. He then break-dances, incorporating the hammer by tossing it up, moving to spin on his hands, and then kick the hammer higher to finish it off by catching it and posing with flare. "Tah-duh!"

A giggle escapes the bush and he blinks towards it with eager anticipation.

Once again, being very kind, he approaches the bush again, going down to her level.

"I'm awfully sorry for scaring you, miss. Mind forgiving a big scary guy like me?"

Finally… a little pink head emerges from the bush.

She looks at her hammer in his hands, as he offers it to her, and she slowly begins to reach for it.

"Heh, kinda jumpy, aren't ya?" He shakes his head, "Don't worry. I won't try anything this time. Promise, I won't."

She smiles then with a big open grin, and takes the hammer back, hugging it as she steps out.

Sonic moves back, surprised to have such a rush of nostalgia as he chuckles a moment.

"I remember this." He snickers. "You used to have such an odd fashion sense. But I didn't mind." He moved up and stretched. "Now… there's this… uh… big bad wolf I have to catch." He decided against telling her the truth, and just continued to stretch for his long run through the zone. "So you should find a big strong hero to protect you until then, alright?" He nodded to her, waving sweetly, as though thinking her a pleasant surprise to walk into, but also not really being surprised since it was expected of Amy to find him anyway!

He was about to take off, but she cried out, whining a little and hugging her hammer tighter with her arms, swaying her body back and forth…

"Uh… oh." He came out of running formation, closing the gap he just made with his legs… "You can't come with me… you're too little." He smiled sweetly, "but I'm sure you'll find me again. In fact, I can count on it." He bent down and shook his finger with a wink in front of her, making her laugh again at his charms.

He got back up, tilting his head and smiling at how precious it was to see her like this again, before about to take off once more.

"Ah!" She leaped up and grabbed his foot, causing him to lurch forward and stop himself abruptly.

"Ahhh!" his hands flailed out in front of him, "Woah!" he kicked his back leg forward and that sent her flying. "AMY!" in panic, he raced forward and slid to her rescue, catching her and sighing in relief. "Always getting yourself into trouble." He shook his head to her, before she uncovered her face and smiled to him.

"Ughh… What am I gonna do with you?" He put her down, kneeling this time. "Look, Rosy… I can't stay. There's a bad guy out there with a grudge for blue hedgehogs." He tightened his fist, trying to explain it a little better. "So I can't play with you, alright? But I bet if you hang around here a little longer, you might find someone who can-!" he was cut off guard when he turned his head, figuring if she was here, his littler self would arriving shortly.

She hugged his neck, causing him to stop and look back to her, seeing the brightest and scared green eyes that only his memory had once forgotten, but not his heart.

He melted into the look and dipped his head. "Ohhhh, boy." He shook himself free of her, laughing, "You don't give a guy a break, huh? I should have figured…" he swung himself up, lazily, as if not being able to resist…

He flexed his finger for her to come up, "Alright, but don't get used to this…"

She beamed, and climbed up his arm as he hoisted her to his head. "All set?" he raised an eyebrow, as she settled in his quills and took her hands behind his ears, grasping on tightly.

She nodded cutely, and wagged her tail in excitement for takeoff!

"Heh." He flicked his nose, and got ready to burst…

He took off and got through half of the level, before meeting the transformed great evil in his newest, weaponized shape.

With the help of Classic Amy Rose, Sonic was able to defeat the great evil, as it scurried off again in shadows to try and hide out in another level.

"Yeah! We showed him!" Sonic raised a fist high, as Classic Amy bobbled a little on his head, happy to please.

"Oh…" Sonic suddenly blinked, hearing some noises in the distance.

He perked up his ears, and Classic Amy giggled as she went to tug on one of them.

"Hey." he shook his head, causing her to shake with it as she laughed, before he turned to see a streak of blue.

He was just watching for a moment… before a scary understanding coursed through his mind at blazing speeds—Amy!

"Oh!" He quickly took Classic Amy and placed her down, "Stay right here." He was about to head off, but she cried out for him, and with his leg still up, he hopped a bit and looked around. "Ohh, ooh.. uhh…" he turned around, dropping to his knees. "Trust me. You're about to meet someone. Someone… eh, kinda important." He fixed up her dress, then dusted off her poofy shoulders and licked his hand to make sure one of her bangs stood up a little straighter.

She 'ew'd and laughed at his doting, before he tapped her nose, "Bye~" he winked, taking off before hollering back, a hand cupping the side of his mouth, "Or rather… Hello!"

She seemed confused, wanting to race after her new friend before another, smaller blue hedgehog stopped in his path, turning around and seeming confused by her presence.

Love struck her heart instantly! Was it him!? She raced into his arms, startling the passerby.

Modern Sonic hid, away from the two, but eagerly looked back with an open grin, before winking and snickering to himself. "Talk about hooking yourself up." He faked a gag, sticking his finger in his mouth in a way of staying 'cool' about what he just said and took off.

"Good luck, kiddo! You're gonna need it..!" he whispered to himself, trying to stay quiet and sped off to the next level!
