T52: Police Brutality.

Brooklyn sat in her convertable car in the countryside, thinking about Cameron, Rocco and Leo and wondering if they were alright. Since the family learned of their disappearance and reported them missing yesterday morning, she hadn't had a moment's peace. She kept expecting something to happen that would out here knowledge of the wearabouts of the boys.

"Brooklyn?" Came a female voice, startling Brooklyn.

Brooklyn looked to see Alice standing by her side, with her rented car parked a few feet away from her.

"Whoa, it's just me." Alice said.

"Sorry. It's just that...i keep expecting the family to call or show up and tell me they've found the boys. Are they any better this evening?" Brooklyn said.

"Um...not so much. The idea that the boys went missing at Monica's house while there were so many adults there in kind of driving everyone crazy. I mean, i cannot believe this happening." Alice said.

"Yeah...neither can i." Brooklyn added, secretly riddled with guilt. For the past 25 hours, she had kept the truth of the boys' were-abouts from both the family and the police. She could not believe she did that. But what was she suppose to do? She couldn't out her little bother and his cousins. The family was already flipping out with worry because the boys ran off. If they found out she knew where they were this whole time, they would never speak to her again. They would probably never even let her see the boys again. How did she let herself get tangled up into this? She should've told the family and the police about the text she had gotten from Leo. And she should've shown the cops the text so they could trace the boys' exact location and bring them home. What was she to do now?

Keep pretending like she didn't know where the boys were, she guessed. Because the moment something happened to prove to the family and the cops that she knew where the boys were all along, they were gonna put it together on where their exact where-abouts were. So she would keep pretending like she didn't know where they were for as long as she could. But the family and the entire police department was searching all over town for the boys. She was surprised that neither party had figured out where the boys were already. The sheriff shows up the day before the boys disappear, asking the family if they'd seen his missing step-son, then the next morning the boys were gone? They were bound to figure it out sooner or later. Later was alright. Sooner could be a disaster. If the family and the police found out that she knew where the boys were all this time, the next time anyone would see her was in a cell.

"This is all such a mess." Alice said.

"I know, i know." Brooklyn said. "It'll be alright. I promise."

Just then, the sheriff's 70s police car pulled up and stopped a few feet away from Brooklyn and Alice. Sheriff Scar got out of the car on the driver's side, slammed the door and stormed toward Brooklyn and Alice.

"Sheriff? What is it? Did you find the boys?" Alice asked as Sheriff Scar stormed up to her and Brooklyn.

Rather than answer her question, Sheriff Scar pushed Alice aside and grabbed Brooklyn and pulled her out of her car.

"What?! What?!" Alice said. "Stop it, what on Earth are you doing?!"

"I'd like you to tell me where my step-son, Will, is...or i'm gonna kill you." Sheriff Scar said to Brooklyn as he firmly held her in his arms.

"(Gasps)!" Alice gasped. "Don't you dare!" She said as she stormed toward Sheriff Scar and Brooklyn.

"Get back, Alice, he's crazy!" Brooklyn said, making Alice stop in her tracks.

"She's right." Sheriff Scar said before getting his black hand-gun out the right side of the holster. "So you better start talkin'."

"You want me to lie to you? I could do that. I could tell you some garbage about where your step-son went so you don't kill me. Is that what you want, Sheriff?" Brooklyn said.

"No, i want the truth." Sheriff Scar said.

"No matter what you tell yourself...or what you do with that gun...it's not gonna change anything. I don't know where your step-son is." Brooklyn said.

"I don't believe you." Sheriff Scar said.

"Well, maybe you'll believe me. Huh? Could you do that? Could listen for two seconds?" Alice said.

"Sure, Alice, tell me what you know." Sheriff Scar said.

"Not until you let her go and get that gun back in the holster." Alice said.

Sheriff Scar released Brooklyn and she ran over to Alice.

"Oh, my gosh. Are you okay?" Alice said.

"I'm fine." Brooklyn assured.

The two young women watched as the sheriff placed his gun back in the right side of it's holster.

"You're not gonna be fine for long unless you start talking." Sheriff Scar said.

"After you just dragged me out of my car and pulled a gun on me...i think i'm beginning to understand why Will ran away. And i think i know how he feels about you." Brooklyn said.

"I'm not interested in a lecture about how much Will hates me." Sheriff Scar said.

"I don't think he hates you...alright? I think he loves you." Alice said.

"You think Will loves me?" Sheriff Scar asked.

"Yes." Alice said.

"Seems to me he's got a funny way of showing it." Sheriff Scar said.

"Alright, well, how would you feel if someone was going to kill your pet and cook it as one of the dishes for Thanksgiving dinner? I talked with your wife about the situation, so you can't deny it." Alice said.

"Don't start to compare." Sheriff Scar said.

"Will loves that Fox too. He loves him and just wants to keep him safe, you just don't get that." Alice said. "He didn't wanna leave...but you didn't give him any choice. Okay. I promise that we do not know where Will went. But i do know that it hurt him to leave his mother behind with a man like you. He loves Katie. He loves her very much, she's his Mom. And he loves you. If you find him-"

"When i find him." Sheriff Scar corrected.

"Tell him that you understand how he feels about his pet Fox...or you're gonna lose him all over again for real." Alice said.

"Maybe you're right. Maybe i wasn't understanding enough." Sheriff Scar said.

"See, if he could just hear you say that...then maybe he'd think differently." Alice said.

Sheriff Scar then walked over to Brooklyn's car, got her purse out and started going through it.

"Hey-hey, what are you doing?" Brooklyn asked. "That's my stuff! You got no right!"

Sheriff Scar soon found Brooklyn's cellphone and got it out. "Why don't you want me going through your purse?"

"Because all of my personal belongings are in there." Brooklyn said.

"Yeah?" Sheriff Scar said. "Let's see here." He then clicked on the text icon, logging into it, revealing one of the text's she had gotten yesterday morning. "And you've gotten a text from Leo it seems."

"What difference does it make?" Brooklyn asked.

"What's gonna happen if i have one of the 9-1-1 dispatchers trace this text? Where's it gonna lead me?" Sheriff Scar said.

"Sheriff-"

"Where's it gonna lead me?" Sheriff Scar asked, cutting Alice off.

Brooklyn didn't answer.

"WHERE'S IT GONNA LEAD ME?!" Sheriff Scar shouted. "Where's it gonna lead me?!"

"If you find Will...you need to tell him...that you understand why he ran away with that Fox. Tell him you understand how he feels about his friend." Brooklyn said.

Sheriff Scar clicked on the text from Leo, opening it and revealing what it read.

On our way to the forest of the Tofte mountains with a friend to help save a life. Please don't tell anyone.

"Sheriff?" Alice asked.

"Tofte mountains...here i come." Sheriff Scar said before placing Brooklyn's phone back inside her purse and throwing it back in her car, followed by walking past Alice and Brooklyn, getting inside his car and speeding off.

"What was all that about?" Alice demanded.

"Alice...i have something to tell you?" Brooklyn said.

"What?" Alice asked.

"That text i got from Leo...it was sent to me yesterday morning." Brooklyn answered.

"What?!" Alice said.

"Look, Alice, i was just tryin' to help Leo and the boys and their mystery friend." Brooklyn said.

"How could you be so stupid?! You know you shouldn't have kept this from me and the family!" Alice said.

"Look, i know, Alice. Leo told me not to tell anyone. I mean, i didn't mean for it to go this far. I didn't even know that it would get this serious. I'm sorry, Alice." Booklyn said.

"Sorry? My son, nephew and cousin-YOUR little brother-could be in danger because of you." Alice said.

"Look, i know, Alice, that's all i've been thinking about for the past 25 hours. Look, you gotta believe me, i didn't mean to hurt you." Brooklyn said.

"Yeah, well, you did. You hurt me and you've hurt this whole family!" Alice said.

"I know, Alice. I mean...there were times when i really wanted to tell you and the family, but i didn't want to break my promise to Leo and-"

"Well, welcome to the real world, Brooklyn! That's not an excuse, it's never an excuse!" Alice said, cutting Brooklyn off.

"Alice-"

"You were lying to us this whole time." Alice said, cutting Brooklyn off.

"Yes, but i-"

"You know, i'm so use to media people pretending to care about me since the carnival incident with Cameron in Paris, Texas." Alice said, cutting Brooklyn off again.

"I wasn't pretending-"

"But i really thought you were different." Alice said, cutting Brooklyn off for the third time. "But you're just like everyone else in the media who's lied to me over the last four months. You comforted me upstairs in the boys' room...knowing full well where they were the whole time. Trick's on me, huh?"

"I was just trying to-"

"Save it for your YouTube channel." Alice said, cutting Brooklyn off a fourth time. "I know this ordeal has given you a lot to talk about." The blond woman then stormed off for her rented car, leaving Brooklyn behind, who began to cry.

Since she got the text from Leo, Brooklyn always feared that something would happen that would out her knowledge of where the kids were. Her worst fears had come true. Now Alice hated her. And soon the whole family would hate her as well.
