(7) Thanksgiving: The Fox And The Boy

While on Thanksgiving vacation with the family at his Grandmother's house in Trofte-Minnesota, Cameron, his pup, Mickey, and his two cousins encounter a boy who has run away from home with his pet Fox to keep it from being killed and made into a Thanksgiving meal by his stepfather, the sheriff. And they soon find themselves hiding the boy and fox out at Cam's Grandma's place.

54. T53: The Journey Continues

T53: The Journey Continues.

Cameron, Rocco, Leo, Will, Mickey, the squirrel, the Racoon, the rabbit and the Moose walked through the forest, with Todd in Will's backpack, with his head poked out. They were close to making it to the mountains. Now all they needed to do was make it there, get to the fox village, release Todd and their mission would be accomplished.

"Do you think our families are gonna freak out? You know, when we return home?" Cameron asked Will.

"Why would they?" Will asked.

"Will, when we return home, they're gonna be upset." Cameron said.

"Hey, nobody's gonna be upset about anything. Okay? They'll understand once we tell them. We ran away to set my pet Fox free in the fox village in the Tofte mountains." Will said.

"What are we gonna say to the cops?" Rocco asked.

"Well, we'll just explain to them the same thing." Will said.

"But we still lied to the sheriff. Or at least i did anyway." Rocco said.

"Well...i ran away to save Todd from becoming Thanksgiving dinner. And you guys came with me to set him free in the fox village in the Tofte mountains." Will said.

"Okay, well, i can't say that i can see the cops understanding why we lied to them about your where-abouts...or ran away with you because your step-Dad's the sheriff." Cameron said.

"Yeah, same here." Leo added.

"Okay, then what can you see happening after all of this is over?" Will asked.

"Well, i can see either one or two of three things happening to us: Being grounded until college...shipped off to military school...or Juvi until we're 20." Cameron said.

"Well, that's very comforting." Rocco said sarcastically.

"But then again...i can see our families being understanding about the whole thing once we tell them why we ran away." Cameron said.

"See? You're good at this." Will said.

"Well, as long as we tell the truth, we'll be able to keep ourselves out of parental and legal trouble." Leo said.

"We can do it." Will said.

"So what are you gonna do once all of this is over?" Rocco asked.

"Um...i'm not sure. I'm making this up as i go." Will said.

"I asked him the same thing last night. Got the same answer pretty much." Cameron said.

"Well, i guess we'll have to think of something then, won't we?" Leo said.

"I guess so." Will said.
