World: AU (but hopefully in character)
Couple: Sonamy (Sonic and Amy)
Summary: I daydream a lot, and some of those daydreams are at the computer, and I go, "Eh, why not?"
Prompt:
Amy, wandering into the forest which played with ones thoughts, came to test herself, as she waited for her greatest fear to take shape and form.
She wondered slightly what it would be, before hearing rustling behind her.
Turning around, her eyes widened.
"…Of course."
Sonic's figure stood behind her, his eyes hidden in darkness.
"…My greatest fear… used to be every thought you ever had of me…" she turned to face him directly.
He smirked, "Heh."
"Every doubt I ever had.. every ill-thought of the future that could be ruined… how you thought of me… but now.." she stepped more towards him, as he gestured a hand out.
"Hey now, I haven't even said anything yet." he seemed to mock her courage.
She stood directly before him, looking stronger than ever before in her life. "I doubt my doubts… before I doubt Sonic." she narrowed her eyes, showing her conviction.
He removed his hand that he used to gesture with, and looked away, still smiling.
"Well, you defeated me faster than I thought." he then moved his hand up to his chin. "However…" he stepped forward, into the light.
"I'm not your greatest fear."
Amy gasped, seeing Sonic's green eyes, and realizing he wasn't a mirage made by the forest.
"S…Son-"
"I guess we both had the same thing in mind." Sonic turned to look deeper into the forest, "To test ourselves… and see if we really were as strong as we thought."
She didn't know what to say… she had really supposed…
She looked down, almost feeling guilty, and put a hand to her heart.
"…" he stared at her for a moment, "…Well, whatever your fear is," he began, gesturing out to her again as he spoke, before walking on ahead of her. "At least I know you can take it on. Headstrong!"
"…Sonic…" she turned to follow after him, still looking sorrowful that he had to witness her say all that. It wasn't like it was bad… but she so readily believed he was what the forest made to be her greatest fear…
He must be feeling-
"I'm just glad…" Sonic continued to walk, but suddenly….
dropped his head down, only revealing his mouth lose his smile.
"That whatever your greatest fear is… it's not my fault."
(I feel so heartbroken now, awwww…)
