I woke up with ease and turned my alarm off before jumping out of bed. First day back at school and I'm up at the crack of dawn. Had to get back into my routine somehow. So this is my morning routine…
I got up at the crack of dawn and got changed into a pair of black Mesh Insert ¾ length Sports Leggings With Phone Pocket and a long sleeve running shirt with hood and thumbholes. I grabbed my under armour black and white running shoes from under my bed before tying my hair back into a high pon. After I put my shoes on I grabbed my wireless headphones and phone armband.
I then quietly left the cave and went out on the beach. The sun was just a smudge on the horizon. I basked in the beautiful view before finally starting my running playlist and finally starting my morning run.
I tend to go out for morning runs a few times a week and always this early. I am going out this time because the city is still waking up so there are very few people around so I can run at full speed and not worry about being seen that much. I sometimes go running with Wally in the school holidays out in the central city flatlands so we can both just let go. At first, that's what I ran for, to let go, but ever since the training exercise that went wrong, I run to keep my mind clear from the memories of Petrovia.
Anyway, I managed to run all around Happy Harbour and back by 06:30.
When I got back to the cave I could smell bacon, eggs and pancakes being cooked. As I approached the kitchen I took my headphones off and said
"Morning you two" I stopped as I heard scampering from the kitchen. I waited a second before going in. Connor was leant against the counter with a mug in his hand and M'gann was facing the stove. Since they've opened up about their relationship I have to make my presence known when I come back just in case because I've caught them once and I'll never forget that…
Anyway, I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge before walking past M'gann and saying
"Smells good" She looked up, smiled and said
"It'll be ready soon" I took a sip of my water and said
"Just gotta get showered and changed first"
"Alright," I then began walking towards the door.
"Morning Connor" He looked up and said
"Morning Wynonna" Just as I crossed the threshold of the door I said
"Oh and Connor"
"Yeah?"
"Your shirt is on inside out" I heard him spit his coffee out as I fully left the room...
Happy Harbour High January 4th 15:30 EDT
So the first day back at school went off without a hitch...Almost.
Slightly before the end of the last period, I got called down to the principles office. When I got down there I was told to wait until my 'guardian' to show up before going to talk to the principal. So when the school bell rang I was left sitting there waiting.
I was left there for 30 minutes before a familiar voice echoed through the halls followed by heeled footsteps
"What have you done!?" I looked up at Dinah before saying
"Nothing. I know just as much as you do" She sat down beside me and said quietly
"So you haven't been using your powers at all in school" I whispered back
"No. Whenever I use them when I'm not with the team, I make sure no one is around. I swear" she went to say something else but was cut off when the door to the office opened.
"Ahh Miss Lance, Miss Smith shall we?" Dinah and I got up and joined the principal in his office.
We sat down in front of his desk as he said
"I just want to make something very clear from the off. Miss Smith, you are not in trouble" I flinched slightly as he called me Miss Smith causing me to say
"It's just Wynonna, Please" Dinah then said
"Sorry but if Wynonna isn't in any trouble what is this about?" he opened his desk draw and pulled something out before saying
"3 years ago this school reached out to a school abroad to arrange an exchange programme…" He placed a leaflet down and said
"and finally we came up with an arrangement. This trip will be fully paid for in all aspects. And the trip will only include straight-A students… Wynonna's name was at the top of the list...
2 hours later~
Nothing much was said as we walked back towards the cave. However, instead of actually going into the cave, Dinah led me down to the beach. She stood at the water's edge as I sat down on a rock. After a couple of minutes, she said
"You're very quiet" I looked up and said
"Just thinking" She looked over and said
"About the programme?"
"Not exactly" She realised what I meant and said
"Ahh, you're thinking about telling the team?" I just nodded in response.
She walked over and sat down next to me before saying
"You should tell them, just rip the bandage off" I sighed and said
"Easier said than done, besides I don't even know if I'm going to go" she then stood up and said
"Well if it helps, as your legal guardian, I'll sign any consent forms. Now…" she turned to look at me before saying
"I've got a training session with the team. You're excused. I'll leave to think about what you want to do" she turned and started walking towards the cave. However, she stopped and said
"Wynonna, you've probably been through more than anyone on the team. You always put others before yourself. Maybe for once put yourself first…" She then proceeded towards the cave.
Once she was gone I just sighed and laid down on the rock, thinking about everything...
It took some time before I finally bucked up the courage to go back inside. I mean come on, after everything I've done as Phoenix, I'm scared to talk to my own team. This feeling sucks...
Anyway, I walked back inside and found the team finishing off their training session. As I walked in, Wally looked over and said
"Look who decided to show up for training. So what happened at school? Did you get expelled?" Dick elbowed him as I said
"No Wally, I did not get expelled" He folded his arms and said
"So come on, what's going on?" Dinah then said
"I'll leave you to it. Good work today, team" She then swiftly made her way over to the zeta tube.

Once the golden light faded away, I looked back at the team and said
"Maybe you should get changed" They looked between each other briefly before Dick took a step towards me and put on his hand on my shoulder before saying
"Okay… Nonna you're starting to freak us out a bit" I had to force myself to take a deep breath before I shrugged his hand off, took a couple of steps back and said
"Just get changed, then we'll talk" I didn't say anything else as I turned and left the room.
I made my way back into the lounge and jumped up on the kitchen counter after I grabbed a drink. I had my school bag next to me and I couldn't stop playing with my hands.
15 minutes later the team joined me in the living room.
As Artemis sat down behind Wally (who sat on the floor between her legs), she said
"Come on then, spill. We promised no more secrets" I jumped off the counter and grabbed the leaflet out of my bag. I threw it down onto the table before saying
"Happy Harbour High is taking part in an exchange programme and are looking for a group of straight-A, American students to swap places with a group of Japanese students. My name was at the very top of the list." a shocked expression crossed their face, I sat down in the armchair opposite them and said
"It's all completely paid for, travel, living accommodation, everything…" I hesitated for a moment before saying
"Dinah has already given me her permission as my legal Guardian"
Dick was the first to pick up the leaflet. As he read through it he said
"How long is the programme?"
"Minimum... a year" His head shot up as he said
"A year!" After he said that Zatanna placed her hand on his thigh as a sign of comfort. I had to push the twang of jealousy in my heart when I noticed the slight side-eye she was giving me. Kaldur then said
"Moving across the world, it's a huge thing and a massive responsibility on your part" Dick handed Wally the leaflet as I scratched my head and said
"Yeah but It's a once in a lifetime opportunity"
Artemis then ran her hands through Wally's hair and said
"You're being abnormally quiet, Baywatch. It's kind of concerning" Wally took a breath before finally speaking
"I think…" He hesitated before looking up and continuing
"I think I miss you already"
