Hello everyone, Storm here with a new story in the new year! This is one that's been in the works for a while and it's now finally ready, and it's a very interesting one. Here we'll be seeing Naruko again in a very changed Elemental Nations, one that's inspired by Arcane while still being recognizable as the Elemental Nations. As for what happened to cause such a change in the Elemental Nations, we'll see how in this first chapter and seeing just who Naruko will be in this changed world. So, without further ado.

"Thousands of years ago, there existed a tree…"
"A tree larger than any other in the world, tall enough to reach up to the sky. Humans worshipped this tree, known as the Shinju, believing that it nourished the land and helped it thrive. The truth of it though, was much worse than anyone could have imagined it to be."
"The people worshipped the Shinju for what they believed it to do, and it was believed that every thousands of years the Shinju would bear a fruit, a Chakra Fruit. With it being considered taboo to eat the Chakra Fruit. Fearing it would bring the Shinju's wrath down upon them."
"Until the day it was eaten by a young woman, Princess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, breaking the taboo and eating the Chakra Fruit. Granting her god-like powers and while using said newfound powers, Kaguya united the land under her rule. Bringing an end to the wars that plagued the nations. With her power and help in bringing peace, Kaguya was worshipped as the Rabbit Goddess."
"Time passed as Kaguya maintained her enforced peace on the land, as many revered her strength. Though it soon came to pass that Kaguya would give birth to twin sons, Hagoromo and Hamura Ōtsutsuki, the first humans to be born with Chakra. At first Kaguya loved her sons and raised them, but upon realizing they had inherited her Chakra, Kaguya had changed. Her desire for peace becoming warped and twisted, viewing the world as her nursery for her to decide what is right for it. And that all Chakra belongs to her alone and all those that take it are thieves."
"Gone was the revered Rabbit Goddess and in her place was a Demon."
"It wasn't until Hagoromo and Hamura learned of their mother's true nature, the secrets she kept hidden of how she maintained peace, that they worked to put a stop to her. With the help of the toad Gamamaru, the brothers were able to harness their Chakra and gain a new power, Senjutsu. Allowing Hagoromo and Hamura the chance to face Kaguya and free humanity from her control. Upon learning this, what affection Kaguya had left for her sons vanished, refusing to tolerate such a betrayal. Leading her to merge with the Shinju and becoming the monstrous Jūbi."
"For days they battled, reshaping the land from their clash before eventually Hagoromo and Hamura succeeded in sealing the Jūbi away. Separating its power and sealing it within Hagoromo while its powerless husk was sealed within a large satellite, they propelled into the sky that would then become the moon."
"With their mother stopped and the people freed, Hagoromo and Hamura parted ways each with their own goal and purpose. Hamura remained on the moon where he and the rest of the Ōtsutsuki Clan would guard Kaguya's body to ensure no one would seek to free her. While Hagoromo remained on Earth, traveling across the Elemental Nations while repairing the damage done in their battle."
"It was during his travels that Hagoromo gathered many followers, teaching and guiding them in the ways of Ninshū, teaching them to better understand themselves and connect with others. In order to do this, Hagoromo shared with his followers his Chakra to help better connect with each other. As he traveled, Hagoromo's reputation grew, with many revering him as a god. Becoming known as the Sage of Six Paths and the Savior of the World for his part in stopping the Jūbi."
"After he had completed his goal of repairing the damage to land, Hagoromo and his followers returned to his homeland, the Land of Ancestors, which became the headquarters of Ninshū. It was here that Hagoromo had his own sons, Indra and Asura Ōtsutsuki, who inherited Chakra like their father and uncle."
"When the brothers came of age they had begun their education under their father, learning history and Ninshū. And even from an early age, Indra displayed skill and mastery of his Chakra unlike anyone had seen before, developing and discovering new ways to use Chakra into what soon became known as Ninjutsu. Asura on the other hand lacked his brother's natural talent. Being incapable of replicating the same feats Indra could do seamlessly."
"And it is here…a change occurs."
"In one world, Asura was revealed to be a late bloomer. Discovering his own talent in his later years and his innate ability to connect with others. Forming powerful bonds with all those he met, soon proving himself worthy to succeed his father and inheriting his power. While Indra walked his path alone, seeking new power and believing himself the rightful successor of Ninshū. Putting the brothers at odds with each other in a conflict that would span generations amongst their descendants, never ending until peace was made between them."
"But here, believing he would never have the same talent and abilities as his brother, Asura instead dedicated himself to finding a new path. One that would let him help others just as his father did. Leading him to discover other ways in which Chakra could be used to better the lives of people."
"Eventually discovering how Chakra could be used as an energy source to power objects that would require external sources. It was this discovery that Asura began his own work, where he would eventually go on to present his discoveries to his father."
"Revealing crude inventions that he had developed and powered with his Chakra. Devices that could gather moisture from the air to water crops or extinguish fires, devices that could produce light brighter than any flame. These and several others he created to help the lives of others, allowing many tasks to be performed with ease."
"It took time, but soon Asura's inventions began gathering attention. With many being pleased at the help with many day-to-day tasks, being able to complete a days' worth of tasks in just a few hours. Before long, people all across the Elemental Nations had learned of Asura's inventions and wished to have them, with many more hoping he would have even more inventions to help in their lives."
"Many praised Asura for his creations and the help they provided, none more so than Hagoromo. The Sage was proud of his youngest son's resourcefulness in showing how Chakra wasn't a weapon, but a tool that could be used to build and help improve lives."
"Though happy at the success of his inventions, Asura still believed there were ways to improve them. More ideas he could create to help even more people, and with time he began creating more marvels to improve and help the lives of many. Yet Asura also sought to teach others to do the same, believing anyone with Chakra could create their own inventions."
"And as time passed, they did. With Asura's teachings many more inventions were soon created. Newer, more advanced forms of technology. Each one new creation helps to improve the lives of all. What had once been seen as an amazing power capable of incredible feats, Chakra soon became viewed as a power source. A means to activate devices and make new ones. Something that had relieved Hagoromo, having feared the day that Chakra would soon be turned into another weapon used to wage wars."
"But…not everyone was happy at this development and what Chakra was reduced to."
"Indra, though originally happy for his brother for finding his own path and his own talents, soon grew resentful and angry. Left to watch as Chakra was reduced from a great power to little more than fuel for his brother's creations. No longer was it being used to control the elements, to improve strength and speed, or even to heal the wounded. No longer did he even see anyone using their Chakra for anything beyond energy for the devices."
"Believing it to be an insult, Indra sought to further develop his Ninjutsu. Wishing to remind everyone of the power that Chakra possessed, of what it was truly capable of."
"Yet despite his efforts, Indra soon found no one interested in what they could do with Chakra. Instead, only what Chakra could do for them, much to his growing frustration. Which was only further fueled in moments he was alone, joined only by the whispers of a strange being."
"Until the day came Indra could no longer tolerate seeing what Chakra had been reduced to, leaving behind both his family and the ways of Ninshū. Now seeking out his own followers, those that would treat Chakra as the great power that it was meant to be. Ensuring his own descendants would understand what it truly was and the strength it gave them."
"Though saddened at the departure of their son and brother, Hagoromo and Asura continued on. With Asura becoming his father's heir to Ninshū and granted his power. With which Asura was able to improve even more on his creations, both old and new ones."
"Years passed, decades, centuries, until thousands of years had passed since Hagoromo's time. With it now being regarded as nothing more than myth & legend. With his sons fading from history and the minds of others, yet their impact on the Elemental Nations was felt for generations."
"Indra's descendants, the Uchiha Clan remained true to their ancestor's teachings. Mastering their Chakra and Ninjutsu, made even more impressive with their Dōjutsu, the Sharingan. Being a nomadic clan, selling their services to anyone willing to pay. With many regard the Uchiha Clan with fear and distrust for their Ninjutsu and Sharingan."
"And Asura's descendants, the Senju Clan were viewed as the best thinkers and inventors in the world, creating inventions that no other nation had thought possible. Viewed as the most brilliant were Hashirama Senju and Tobirama Senju, both of whom helped to engineer many incredible creations. With the Senju and their allies helping to build and develop a thriving village known as Konohagakure. It not being long until it later developed into a town and then a bustling city, all while gaining a reputation for welcoming all seeking to live their lives free of conflict or suffering."
"While a distant cousin to the Senju Clan was the Uzumaki Clan, filled with their own brilliant inventors, but also those who used Chakra and Ninjutsu. Believing both ideals could be joined together to become something even greater. With their knowledge of Ninjutsu allowing the Uzumaki Clan to rediscover something that was thought to be lost since the Sage of Six Path's battle against the Jūbi, Fūinjutsu."
"Many more clans rose up through the years, each with their own unique inventions and thinkers, as well as with their own unique abilities granted to them via Chakra. Allowing them to branch out with their own inventions."
"But…despite Hagoromo's hope that Chakra would no longer be used as a weapon…it did not stop those who used Chakra to build their own weapons. Terrible, powerful, destructive weapons that were used to wage war by clans and nations, seeking to steal the ideas of others for themselves."
"Wars were waged where hundreds, thousands, died, men, women, even children were not spared the horrors that were unleashed on the battlefields."
"Though there were those who sought destruction there were also those who sought peace, including Hashirama himself. Wishing to bring an end to the seemingly endless wars and fighting, to create an era of everlasting peace."
"Reaching out to Madara Uchiha, the Uchiha Clan Head, Hashirama hoped to invite the Uchiha Clan to join Konoha. Where they might work together in order to bring an end to the fighting. As well as allowing the Uchiha Clan to have a home amongst everyone in Konoha, to no longer worry of having to be constantly traveling or being on guard at the possibility of being attacked."
"And yet despite such an offer, Madara refused out of the belief that by joining Konoha, the Uchiha Clan would be reduced to little more than attack dogs for the Senju Clan to command. Something he refused to let happen, despite many in the Uchiha Clan wishing to accept the offer. Resulting in many within the Uchiha Clan choosing to leave to join Konoha, weary of living their lives on the road. Always fighting, always desperate to survive, never having a moment of peace."
"Madara didn't fault those who left but believed them to be making a mistake as he and those that remained continued their travels. Growing more secretive and hidden from the public eye until soon the Uchiha were rarely seen again."
"While those who chose to join Konoha were welcomed as citizens of the city, finally granting them the long-awaited peace and home they desired. With their arrival, giving Hashirama hope that peace would be achieved between the nations in time."
"However, despite Hashirama's best efforts he was unable to achieve the peace he desired for his entire life as the fighting continued. Only ending when all sides grew tired and weary, needing to rest and heal until the time came when it started again. Leading to a seemingly endless cycle."
"As more time passed, new generations rose up and with them new thinkers and inventors. New creations that were used to help improve lives and new weapons that helped end them."
"With Konoha remaining at the forefront of technological advancements, much to the envy of many nations and villages. Bringing in many new travelers and those seeking a better life away from the fighting and find new opportunities. Where they could be safe, free and happy."
"But within Konoha, many soon learned not all lived safely and happily in its walls."
"Known for being the forefront in advancements, few knew of the many resources required to help in developing such advancements. Resources that required many workers in order to gather and deliver them into Konoha, including gathering resources deep underground."
"Leading to many being regulated to workers, many of which were sent to the mines to gather stone, metals, coal to be sent up to Konoha in the surface."
"As the demand for materials grew, so did the workload. Leading to many workers being forced to remain below ground to keep up with increasing work. Building homes, shops, businesses from the left-over supplies those in Konoha tossed aside. It soon grew into a community, one that survived on the scraps of those above them while being left with nothing but the runoff from Konoha. Leading to many growing sick and ill as a result."
"Many resigned themselves to this life, including the members of the Uchiha that chose to join Konoha. The majority of whom found themselves as workers, thanks to their active Tenketsu granting them improved physical abilities. Making them perfect to work on gathering resources and materials."
"Time passed on as more battles raged and with them, more supplies were needed and more work was placed on the miners. And the more they worked, the more their resentment grew until soon it reached a breaking point."
All over a bridge fires raged with debris scattered everywhere, with smoke and ash filling the air leaving it difficult to see anything. The only thing that could be heard were screams and gunfire as animal-masked people emerged from the smoke holding their weapons, ready to open fire on any and all threats. Stopping whenever they saw one of the attackers on the ground and shot them, ensuring anyone still alive was put down.
While on the other side of the bridge, two young girls walked across it with the older girl holding the younger girl's hand along with having her cover her eyes. Not wanting her to see what's happening. With the older girl also having her sing to try and block out the screams and gunshots being fired.
"Dear friend across the river
My hands are cold and bare
Dear friend across the river
I'll take what you can spare
I ask of you a penny
My fortune it will be
I ask you without envy
We raise no mighty towers
Our homes are built of stone
So come across the river
And find…"
When she felt they had stopped the walking, the young girl paused her singing and looked up at the older girl. Lowering her hand to see why they stopped. But when she did, she gasped at the sight of numerous dead bodies scattered across the bridge. It left both girls frozen in fear at seeing the aftermath with the older girl holding the younger ones tightly, wanting to try and reassure her everything would be alright.
Though seeing what had happened, she wasn't sure herself if everything would be alright or if they should even be here. But she knew they needed to be here, they needed to find their parents, to make sure they were alright. Before they then heard the sound of a fight happening nearby, making the older girl quickly move the younger girl behind her. Just in case whoever's fighting isn't friendly or if the winner comes after them next.
The fight was close enough they could see the silhouettes through the smoke. Seeing one of the fighters punching the other before throwing them on the ground and stabbing a blade into their head. When they stood up, the person looked over their shoulder, spotting the two girls through the smoke.
Freezing at being seen, the older girl pushed the younger one behind her. Ready to shield her and do anything she can to make sure she can get away. Only to relax slightly when the person approached them, no longer being obscured by the smoke with both girls recognizing who it was.
It was an adult man with fair skin, silver hair that spiked upwards and dark-colored eyes. With him wearing dark blue boots, blue pants, a gray shirt, a black jacket over it and a blue facemask covering his nose and the lower half of his face. While in their hand a short sword, a tanto, covered in blood, with there also being some blood stains covering the rest of his body and clothes.
Both girls knew this was Kakashi Hatake, a friend of their parents, something that gave them hope that if he's still alive then their parents must be alive too.
Looking around, hoping to see them through the smoke only to see no other figures moving or fighting, the older girl looked up at Kakashi. Hoping that he knew where they were, if they were safe or hurt. Hust something that could help reassure them that they were okay.
Kakashi could only look at the girls sadly, knowing who they were and why they came here.
The older girl was nine-years old with fair skin, short, messy bright red hair and greyish-purple eyes. With her wearing a dirty, tanned shirt, black shorts with a brown belt around her waist, black shoes and a black cap on her head.
And the younger girl was five-years old with fair skin, short, messy hair like the older girls. With her hair being blonde instead, with two tufts held together by makeshift clips in small pigtails and bright blue eyes. She was wearing a dark blue long-sleeved shirt with a dark orange vest over it, brown pants and brown shoes.
They were Tayuya Uzumaki and her younger sister Naruko Uzumaki, and Kakashi knew them both very well. Having been around since they were born, helping look after them whenever their parents had to work.
'Damnit…' Kakashi thought while closing his eyes, not believing Tayuya and Naruko came here all alone but knew why they came here, and he didn't have anything good to tell them.
Knowing there's nothing he could say to help them, Kakashi merely looked to his left. Fully aware of what they were going to see when the smoke cleared.
Looking to where Kakashi was, the sisters looked, hoping to find their parents. But when the smoke cleared, they saw something they never wished to see. Two bodies were lying on the ground, one a woman with long bright red hair and empty purple eyes as well as a man with spiky blonde hair and empty blue eyes.
Tayuya could only look at the bodies in disbelief and pain, gasping when she found it hard to breathe. Opening her mouth only for no words to come out. The only thing she felt was her entire life falling apart around her at the sight of her parents' bodies.
With Naruko feeling the same pain, however she was looking at her Tayuya. Her sister, who never cried, she'd always seen her never back down from anything or anyone. But now looked as if she didn't know what to do next, leaving the blonde Uzumaki to simply lean against her. Trying to offer any form of comfort she could until Tayuya collapsed to her knees, unable to stop herself from crying anymore. That they'd now lost the only family they had. Not even reacting when Naruko wrapped her arms around her neck, trying to help her sister the only way she could think of.
All while Kakashi could only lower his head, looking around sadly at all the death and destruction. People he'd known most of his life that had fought just to try and make things better for themselves…for their families. Only for it to amount to nothing but more of them dying than those they were fighting…
'No more…no more…' Kakashi thought before looking at his hands and sword, knowing he helped contribute to this and he didn't want to keep fighting only to see more friends die.
Dropping the blade, Kakashi went over to Naruko and Tayuya, getting their attention when he knelt down beside them before picking the sisters up. Both girls clinging to him as he began walking away from the bridge, knowing there's no point in trying to fight, not when everyone else is gone.
Though as they left, Tayuya opened her eyes. Looking across the bridge only to clench her fist when she saw the animal-masked soldiers. Narrowing her eyes when they watched them leave, before turning back as well once they saw the fight was over.
Tayuya could only glare at them as they left before glaring up at Konohagakure. The shining, perfect city where everyone lived without worries or problems. The same city that took everything from her and her sister.
She swore they'd take something from it, no matter how long it'd take.
So, what did you think, good. Yep we see the backstory of how Chakra was introduced to the world, with Kaguya, her sons and Hagoromo's own sons, everything being the same. Up until Asura and Indra begin their own training, with Indra developing Ninjutsu while Asura doesn't show the same talent. Leading to him making a drastic decision, one that would cause ripples throughout history. As Asura dedicates himself to using Chakra s an energy source, powering new technology.
Something that soon catches on with the rest of the world after seeing how much simpler their lives can be with it, which also soon leads people to using Chakra only to power technology. Something that pleases Hagoromo that Chakra wouldn't be turned into a weapon. Indra on the other hand isn't pleased at seeing what Chakra is reduced to, that such great power is reduced to little more than a battery.
Which soon leads to Indra leaving, forsaking Ninshū to continue developing Ninjutsu, gathering his own followers that share his beliefs and ensuring his descendants never forget the power they wield. While Asura's own descendants continue advancing the world with new ideas and technology, leading to a more technologically advanced Elemental Nations.
But while Chakra isn't used as a weapon, it's still used to create far more devastating weapons used to wage wars, which could be seen as even worse than the canon wars.
We also see how the Senju Clan still founded Konoha, which grew much faster into a sprawling city, as well as how the Uchiha Clan are some of the few practitioners of Ninjutsu. Staying true to Indra's teachings, while remaining as a wandering nomadic clan, before going into hiding until they were rarely seen. Except for those that had chosen to join Konoha, growing weary of living their lives on the road, with no home or place to go back to.
Only to soon learn that life in Konoha isn't the best for everyone, with many living far below the surface, working to mine resources for Konoha and its inventions, being left with nothing but the city's runoff. With many having resigned themselves to their lot in life, but not every one remains as accepting of being looked down by those in Konoha.
Finally we go to the present, finding Naruko and Tayuya, who's her older sister, trying to find their parents at the end of a rebellion against Konoha. Being found by Kakashi and their parents dead bodies, much to their devastation at losing their family. With Kakashi bringing an end to the fighting, no longer wanting to lose any more friends and comrades than he has already. Bringing Naruko and Tayuya back home, with Tayuya swearing to one day take something from Konoha like it did to her and her sister. So, for those that like the story, thanks for your support. For those that don't or at least don't like the direction taken, you're more than welcomed to drop the story. But thanks for giving the story a chance anyway.
Storm out
