A Collection Of Other Adventures

Ancient Corruption

Date: September 28th, 1921

Let us begin with a short tale of Twisted Land's Terror World Halloween event. Since 2021, nightmares from the past, present, and future have converged onto various areas of the theme park where many innocents lost their lives annually. The magic of Twisted Land revived these nightmares for they were destroyed after their time to kill was over. A saw mill once stood where the park's Distorted Hotel is located and before that, a seemingly innocent explorers cabin. Where a stage and queer cafe currently sit, there was the concert of rock n roll that rocked so hard it killed. Let's not forget the 3 most infamous ones. An ancient house was excavated but after being explored, it was the site of an unsolved tragedy before being destroyed by a volcano. Then there's the farm a good distance away with a small wheat field, walkthrough hay entrance, and large barn. Finally, an incident with Minecraftia's magnetic field changed the magnetic North Pole to what would become Twisted Land theme park.

Santa moved to Twisted Land for the time being but then he vanished without a trace. Years later, he appeared again looking different with a slightly suspicious looking workshop. These are just tastes of some of the horrors you will get to read about. The changing season to fall annually brings the spirits of those who once or will one day kill to the present year. Alien silverfish from the future, a serial killer rockstar from the 80s, and much more. Watch your step if you visit the park during that time of year, you don't want to be left with anything more than chills down your spine. Trust me, dying by someone else's hand is a painful and terrifying way to go especially if you're very young. The spirits aren't out to kill you but they can get a little carried away sometimes. They once would have wanted to kill you but after failing in their own times, they're not really willing to try again. That and they're different as they classify as different spirits now. Ignore their comments, it's all part of the show. Netherite armor would prove most useful.

Warning: This short story will get quite gruesome, I will avoid mention of blood but this is going to be morbid. Now let's begin the first story in a series of many where villagers, players, and more lose their lives to the wrath of evil spirits, zombies, aliens, and more.

It was a chilly day in Minecraftia's Southwest Quadrant, the sky was cloudy with a secret chance of death. The year was almost 100 years before Twisted Land was founded. An ancient house was uncovered in an archeological dig on a strange mostly block shaped island where the terrain cut out at the edges. It's like the island was cut and pasted from elsewhere. From the ocean by what would become Christmas Land, you could see coal and iron ore exposed as part of the edge of the island. The small bay the island has was distinct as one for the sole reason its dirt and pretty shallow floor greatly contrasted with nearby ocean floor that is much deeper and covered in stone, gravel, ores, seaweed, and more. The excavation began with an explorer and scientist named Phill Dye. He was a furry from the world of Kohnanix and would live a long life, dying in 2030 at the age of 138. A temporal anomaly that may or may not have something to do with the calamity in time of 2020-2021 sent him to Minecraftia. He was found by local pirates near the future site of Twisted Land unconscious. Luckily for him, he was going to go exploring anyway. The pirates shocked him with their friendliness, their wonder at his appearance must have caused them to back off or maybe they're just pirates who attack the rich capitalists. At any rate, he wakes up to find them and asks where he is. He's told that he's in Minecraftia's Balavel Islands chain.

Realizing that he's stuck on this world, he makes the most of it and is told about the island that would become Twisted Land. He goes there by boat and in the plains on the island, he's looking for any signs of life but doesn't find much. A farm in ruins is off to the distance but Phill Dye doesn't check it because there's almost nothing there. But then out of the corner of his eye, he finds an exposed block of sandstone: "What is that? Sandstone doesn't belong in a plains biome. I haven't seen much sandstone, not even back home in Desanden." The scientist begins touching the stone: "It's so smooth. Almost like it was carved by a people whose existence has been lost to history. I need to find an archeology team. I can't do this alone." He walks back to Kanoka Bay where his boat is waiting, careful to not step in the flowing lava of the Kanoka volcano. Phill sails all alone for days in search of a continent. By the time he does, he's thirsty and starving. "Is that a port over there? Perfect, I might be able to talk to somebody who would know where and how to put together an archeological team." In time, he finds a restaurant and orders a meal. The restaurant didn't ask for anything in return, he looked in bad shape, they wanted to help him. To make things better, the owner of the place informs Phill Dye that there's some big exploration going on to the strange island he was just at, it was a bit of small talk.

"What luck, this might be my luckiest and most unlucky adventure ever. I hope I can find a way home after seeing what that sandstone was about." The air around them seemed to get stiffer and more chilly. After thanking the owner, he went outside. The sky had become much darker: "How weird. It's the afternoon and yet it's like it's evening already! What's going on? This can't be the winter solstice, it's not cold enough and there's no snow. Oh well, I have to convince my way into an expedition anyway." He fumbles around, trying to find a ship full of explorers. That's when he sees a pretty large ship that is compensating for something with a group of adventurers heading inside: "That must be it." Eventually, he convinces the guard blocking the entrance of the ship to let him pass. There's no way Phill Dye could miss out on this opportunity. After that, he found the leader of the adventurers explained his story. He even brought up the mysterious sandstone: "It's strange. Sandstone underneath the plains." "I agree. We'll look there first if you can tell us its exact location once we arrive." Our brave focus character gets to know all of his shipmates during the 2 day journey. But they had no idea that this would be the last time the vast majority of them would be both alive and happy. It was midday, exactly noon but the skies now made it look like it was midnight.

Phill gets nervous: "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. What's with the sky?" A shipmate who calls himself Stone Testificate for some reason replies: "It must really be getting close to Halloween. This year, I will be a corrupted iron golem to scare everyone." Stone Testificate is a villager with gray clothing, blue eyes, and a little silver hair. "Give it a rest will you, Daniel? This is serious, weather patterns don't just change like this. It's odd, this started happening after I found that sandstone." "Must be by chance! This is going to be awesome." The leader of the adventurers, Lovalis yells: "Be quiet! There are rumors that there's a hidden village in that volcano over there or somewhere else nearby. We cannot risk being potentially ambushed by the locals." His deep green eyes, blonde hair, and magenta clothing commands respect instantly. Hardly anyone could stare at him face to face without being willed to do something else. It's too bad that that won't work on the new "friend" they're mere hours away from meeting. After getting to the sandstone, everyone does their part to dig around it. When that's finished, they actually look and see an ancient home.

Phill gets excited: "It wasn't natural after all! This will help a lot with your world's history! Such a discovery will be groundbreaking." Before anyone can even prepare a reply, harsh whispers cut like a chainsaw into the peaceful sounds of water dripping, soft footsteps, and more: "Come in. It'll be fun." "Don't be shy, a party is about to begin!" "Why don't you come inside, it's warmer here." As they hear that, the sky somehow gets even darker, their lanterns which they had used to navigate barely even worked against the suffocating darkness. Meanwhile, the blowing wind went from barely noticeable to roaring. The cries of that wind chilled the party to their bones. Leaves nearby started flying all over the place. Now was the time to get inside to "safety". To their surprise, there's a small passage waiting for them. Dust accumulated over thousands of years is disturbed by their movements and it get all over them. Each one started coughing quite heavily. Their hair was caked in it, their shoes were filled with it, and their lungs suffered a lot. But still, they ventured deeper at a slow place to reduce the amount of dust they moved around.

The harsh wind was now a muffled noise to them as they had shut the door behind them. Waiting for them is a strange looking room with an even stranger face statue facing a long stair like bench. Cobwebs covered the walls: "Yuck! I hate cobwebs! But shouldn't there be spiders?" A warped and distorted voice drowns out every sound and sense everyone had. Its anger and hatred raises the fear factor in everyone by 10: "You dare disturb the last remains of my glorious empire? I will make you regret it! But I should thank you first. You will allow me to finally get my revenge on the players. They destroyed my empire and made my own citizens turn against me. My last moments of life were being burned alive by my former royal advisor! I will return to power and spread darkness over the whole world!" Eve, a black haired and brown eyed player with the basic Alex shirt on, shakes in fear but replies: "Who are you? We won't let you succeed!" The voice laughs: "I am King Despair! Like you have any choice in the matter of if I succeed or not. Cling onto that pathetic hope while you still can. Maybe it will give your final moments some meaning."

Phill Dye exclaims: "We need to get out of here!" "No you won't." Despair replies through the statue and soon, black stuff overtakes some nearby blocks. He opens the mouth of the statue and it eats up Eve. She screams while the others freak out and go hide from Despair. They notice some stairs down in the next room, leading to an ancient storage room. It's lined with shelves, heads, and more creepy cobwebs. But they aren't any safer. As they cower down there, Eve is taken to a dark space which lights up a little due to an old candle that flickers for her. An evil laughter is heard as an ancient sacrificial blade appears and acts like it's sentient or possessed. The blade accelerates into Eve's heart, cutting right through it. One final scream is emitted through her vocal cords before it is sliced up into multiple tiny chunks. She's still alive but doesn't have much time left. That time lessons greatly when the blade cuts through her tongue, gums, and skull right into the brain. Brain fluid spews out and her eyes become white. Eve's body collapses onto the floor and is further mangled. Despair chuckles: "This will be so easy. Now to begin making myself a new body after I make her an example." The nightmare sends her body hurling into the storage room the 7 still living adventurers were hiding.

Phill Dye nearly faints at the sight of the corpse, his heart rate intensifies as his breathing becomes more labored: "He killed her. He killed her! Despair showed no mercy! This is far more horrifying than anything I've ever seen in my profession! Body fluids just continue to come out. And is that her spine ripped from its normal location?" Lovalis replies: "This must be some sort of trick! Someone must be playing with us using those radios that are all the rage these days. That body? We might be dealing with a really fast mannequin creator!" Stone Testificate gets a smug look on his face: "Whatever he is, I can take him! Let's get this sucker!" "Hahaha fools. All of you are such fools." Lovalis suddenly screams as a rotted hand puts itself on his shoulder and the room gets full of more black stuff. The recoil sends that hand which is attached to an equally rotted arm flying. A splat is heard from the wall. And if that wasn't frightening enough, the hand and arm jump to Eve's corpse after some goo oozes out. A mouth forms in the palm of the hand and begins to devour her in seconds. Not much is left of her after: "You will not stop me. Your friend's noble sacrifice has helped me get closer to my revenge! She was deliciously gooey and crunchy." The smell of body fluids, dust, and decomposition fills the room in time for the next individual to pay an early visit to the afterlife if there's even such a thing. Despair with a restored but floating hand, arm, and right shoulder grabs Lovalis with a firm grip.

The villager's screams are silenced as his ribs and bones are cracked all over. The cracking noises continue for a whole minute. Survivors run out of the storage room and go upstairs. What they didn't see was how Lovalis was killed in the end. Despair began to choke him after taking care of his bones, ribs, and cartilage: "Oooo cracking bones is so much fun! It's better than popping your silly balloons or whatever you call those sad excuses for fun objects. Now to finish you. I can see your memories. You have a habit of accidentally getting crushed don't you? It's only fitting that I crush everything about you, leaving you to beg in your mind for mercy!" Blood vessels popped from all that crushing, limbs were disfigured, the feet became globs of flesh with broken bits of bones and such inside, and the head became very concerningly flexible. You'd think Lovalis would be dead by now but no. He runs out of oxygen after struggling to breathe and dies right before his entire heart was crushed by just one of Despair's fingers. He grossly twists the disfigured body of Lovalis into a long and thin spaghetti noodle like shape. Then, he literally slurps the corpse up his handpalm mouth and thus gains more body. He gains a left shoulder and neck. The vengeful ancient tyrant spirit is becoming mortal again. Meanwhile, the archeology team is more scared than ever. If you could smell emotion, you'd detect them reeking of fear instead of just the sweat and bacteria. "I got this! I will crush that creep with my strength! Yeah!" "Stone Testificate, I'm terrified your overconfidence isn't helping. Stop being a buffoon, we are going to die if we can't find a way out of here! Wait, is that a ladder? I should have noticed it sooner. I'm a scientist after all." They mad dash to and up the ladder.

But waiting for them is Despair. His hand palm mouth is gone but now his new neck has a really cursed and creepy mouth, its smile is haunting. That's scarier than Siren Head, that's for sure. "Going somewhere? Do you want to go home and cry to mommy? Sorry but you can't escape from up here! You're bound to this building by a curse I've been creating. It's the same curse that is letting me eat your friends, be one with the building, and corrupt it all. See that fence? You can't jump it! And look around, the skulls of my other enemies are all up here. It's so delightful!" They all run but Stone Testificate falls down, bringing down another adventurer named Cerhey with him. Cerhey's normal brown hair has paled to gray, the warm magenta eyes he had look broken and almost colorless while his yellow jacket is covered in all kinds of things. The other 4 got back downstairs to find another exit after regrouping but that won't protect them from hearing more of their friends die. "You. Tough guy. I'll kill you first. You'll be perfect for what I want to do next." The stars in the early night sky vanish as the sky becomes both purple and black. Menacing red eyes even appear directly above the excavated house. Stone Testificate screams as a sharp pain overwhelms his entire nervous system. The responses of pain between neurons travel really fast in large numbers.

Despair just touched him: "Are you sick of me making you and the others suffer? Why don't I fix that by making you feel sicker than you've ever felt! Now to deal with your pal before he runs away." Stone Testificate tries to act confident but his skin starts to turn black, a sign of necrosis. He staggers to the floor just as Despair grabs Cerhey to tie him tightly to the fence along the perimeter of the roof they are on. The tough guy's body starts to change in other ways too. His skin dying is far from the only problem now. "Aaaaaa! It hurts! So much! I can't feel my hands!" Blisters emerge from dead skin tissue, swell, and pop like crazy. Warts grow on the fingertips, toe tips, armpits, buttocks, and lips before falling off to create large gaping holes that must hurt a lot. Stone Testificate's immune system stood no chance against this mysterious condition. Body fluid gathers in the skull, causing his head to expand quite a bit. The resulting pressure strains his brain greatly. "I'm going to die! Save me! Please somebody save me!" To put the nail in the coffin, a massive abscess forms on his right leg, it just keeps growing and leaking like some cancerous tumor. Yuck. The abscess erupts. And the force generated by that causes all the dead skin to come peel right off. What's left of Stone Testificate is a mess of bones, organs, and other things. Despair sadistically summons a large fork. With that, he takes some time picking up and eating what remains of Stone Testificate. Due to this, he gains the upper chest portion of his body.

Cerhey is frozen in shock and fear: "Don't worry. I didn't forget about you! Not even for a second. Do you like sculpting something? Well I don't care but I'll enjoy sculpting your demise!" The villain pulls out a bunch of metal rods from who knows where and puts a gag like the ones they use in wrestling in Cerhey's mouth. One by one, he stabs Cerhey with the rods with intent to impale the poor fella. Lots of sound is generated from this and yet somehow, Cerhey is still holding on but barely. That's when Despair pulls out the metal rods and Cerhey quickly dies from all the holes cutting through many vital spots including parts of the brain. "That was fun and kind of anticlimactic. Oh well." Upon consuming Cerhey, Despair gains his whole back and lower abdomen. As this all happened, he secretly magically blocked the entrance to the final room his remaining victims haven't gone to yet. But he had to let the magical block go after getting more body parts as he lost a bit of power to do that stuff. But in any case, he easily gets to the final 4. "Hello, reckless mortals! I will be your reckoning! I dare you to go to the kitchen! There's an exit there but I don't intend on letting you leave alive as your own individual selves. You will become part of me!"

The 4 save their breath on running so that's exactly what they do but 2 of them are forced back. Despair captures them with a tongue that apparently can stretch very far: "No no no! I need you 2 dead to raise the stakes! With you gone, I will have my other arm and my right leg back!" The house gets even more covered in that black stuff. The room Despair and those 2 are in is meant to be a living room like thing. There's places to sit, cobwebs, and a coffin encased in sandstone. He releases one of them from his hold, a villager woman with blonde hair, hazel eyes, and a white coat named Calfela: "You're dying next! Witness as I make a puppet show out of you! I've seen all the memories of your foolish deceased friends, I know all about your little pointless societies." String comes out of his hand in several separate strands, each one cuts through a different part of Calfela's body: "What have you done? I can't move!" "Of course you can't. You just couldn't take the hint! This will be very entertaining!" Despair acts out a really twisted and cringey scene with a cursed made up voice and Calfela's body: "Oh look at me, I'm pathetic little Calfela! I'm such a loser. What's the point of living when I'm so dumb? There's only one solution!" Calfela is forced to watch as her body is made to inflict massive amounts of blunt force. Her head hits the sandstone several times and her feet crash into things so many times they might as well not be called feet anymore. Let's just say that.

Calfela can't even speak or scream for herself. She's exactly where he wants her to be, totally helpless, unable to stop her puppeted body from being made to hurt her. In seconds, she loses consciousness while swelling and bruises appear all over. Despair laughs again: "And for the grand finale! Now I just need a volunteer! Oh look, I already have one. My brand new about to be dead puppet! Isn't this awesome and magical and exciting or what?" He moves the strings around expertly as if he used to do this to his oppressed citizens. After pausing for dramatic effect, Despair pulls all the strings in various directions at the same time. This literally pulls Calfela apart into many pieces. She is now dead. The one who was forced to see all this happen is a player named Bob, he has black hair, grayish blue eyes, and a brown cloak: "Good, you're still watching. Good victim. I almost want to reward you for doing so but then again, I will kill you! *He proceeds to eat the scattered parts of Calfela's body* With my other arm returned, I can really start having fun! I believe your name is Bob. But more importantly, enjoy what remains of your sad life!" Despair summons up a giant bucket of acid, large enough to fit in Bob with all the acid inside. Then, he lets go of Bob to drop him into the acid. Immediately, the sizzling caused by chemical reactions fill the house along with the muffled sounds of struggle and fear from Bob. He sinks down to the bottom of the bucket as the acid literally eats away at him. The stuff is so strong not even his bones survive.

As a result, Bob is now dead with every part of his body completely dissolved into the acid: "That was nice." Despair proceeds to literally drink every bit of that acid in order to absorb the components of Bob's destroyed body. The acid doesn't faze him even just a little bit. It just goes into his system. His left foot and leg appear at last. Now he has enough power to take over the entire house and make it a part of his physical form: "Yes! Now I can evolve to another level." In a flash of dark light, skin from his back stretches and sticks to a nearby sandstone wall. Now that he's merged with the house, he can move his body through it seamlessly. Phill Dye and the other one left, a player with orange hair, purple eyes, and a green shirt known by the name of Glorboots have been trying to escape. The exit is right there but when they try to get to it, it just gets further away as if the fabric of reality were being stretched thin. So after failing, they are hiding, powerless to stop Despair: "Glorboots, thank you for being such a good friend. I'm scared. We've only known each other for 2 days but let's hope that was long enough for us to survive." "I'm shaking all over. When will this nightmare be over?" That's when Despair slowly and creepily walks into the room, the sounds of soft footsteps alarm Phill and Glorboots: "The nightmare is only over when I say it's over. It's time for you to fucking die, you foolish adventurers."

Despair's skin is black and purple, his height is over 7 feet, the clothing he wears looks Ancient Egyptian except for the white in that style of clothing being replaced by black, a hole exists where his head should be, the foot and hands look grotesque, he is the definition of a nightmare. Suddenly, an axe appears in his left hand. The villain pins Glorboots to a stool in the kitchen with no roof, zombie heads, wither skeleton skulls, cobwebs, redstone torches, a counter, storage, and some cooking device: "Let me go! What do you want to do to me? Please let me go! No no no. Don't tell me!" Phill in a last ditch effort to escape starts by hand digging through the sandstone floor to make a tunnel. He can't watch his friend die, he doesn't want to. But he severely hurt his paws very quickly, slowing down his efforts. Meanwhile, Despair keeps Glorboots in a tight situation before bringing down the axe on him with his free hand. The sounds of screaming and pain echo throughout the entire island. Squishes and cracks are emitted as Glorboots is decapitated, his head comes cleanly off. It falls and rolls over to Phill Dye's location.

The dying expression of Glorboots terrorizes Phill. Lots of stuff leaks out. All that force also caused lots of damage throughout his body and severed head. Not even waiting for the leaking to stop, Despair eats the body of Glorboots before snacking on his head. His other foot and leg are spawned from this action. Phill gives up on escaping: "Damn it! My paws! They're too injured to break anything more! I'm doomed!" "That's right! You're my final victim for now. I'm going to make it special." Laughter fills the air as Despair manhandles the scientist and turns on the fire in the kitchen. Its glowing embers match the final roar Phill would hear before his death. As he's thrown into the fire, he says: "Aaaaa! I'm burning alive! I'm burning! This wasn't supposed to happen!" In the dark sky, his burning fur lights up like a giant torch. Screams and more are heard as Phill is reduced to ash. The temporal warp that brought him to this world gave him a 2nd chance at life in Kohnanix. He never stepped foot in Minecraftia again.

Despair took great delight in swallowing Phill's ashes. He now has a head with blue hair and piercing gray eyes along with pointy ears and an evil crown: "I'm baaaack, Minecraftia!" Several days pass for the captain of the ship that had unknowingly take the adventurers right to their demise. Body fluids left multiple colors on the floor of Despair's house permanently. The island becomes eerily silent and the darkness remains. The captain gets worried and informs the mainland after 4 days. The country of Bestocal which at that time controlled that port they departed from responded by sending in 2 surveyors with explosives just in case. They arrive and immediately spot the house. It still has some easy to see sandstone so they head there: "That must be what the adventurers found. But where could they be?" The one who just spoke watches in horror as Despair's body emerges from within the house and eats his companion alive. That companion doesn't get to scream for long as he is killed in not even 20 seconds, all chewed up and swallowed by the villain's new mouth on his face. A creepy grin unnerves the guy left so in an act of desperation, he throws a backpack full of explosives at the house: "Trying to blow me up, are we? Too bad that won't work as you can't even detonate it with that feeble controller you have there that I just bent with a wave of my hand." He then throws the explosives right back at the guy and gets them to explode with magic.

As a result, he has killed his 10th victim in the 20th century. What Despair didn't know was that his time was up. The Kanoka volcano erupted without warning. The explosion was so big that all of future Twisted Land was changed for good. The villain couldn't even say a victory speech before the lava and explosion killed him. It would be 100 years before he would return, the only reason he did was because his spirit was destroyed by the volcano and then restored by Twisted Land's magic. But he doesn't seek killing anymore, he says he does for entertainment but that's behind him as he's literally a different and new spirit by definition. That volcano ceased to exist for several months longer, it came back in May 2022 by being built as the home of a Twisted Land roller coaster.

Outro: Thank you for reading my first try at horror in several years! Twisted Land's series of spooky things will appear as different short stories throughout future additions to this collection. You will also get to learn all about the Kanoka volcano alongside many other things. In comparison to horror films, the graphic content here was quite limited but still quite unsettling. I will get better at writing this stuff by doing this for sure. See ya next time.
