Jayfeather lay upside down in his bed. He let out a sigh. It was 12AM. He was awaiting Breezepelt. A knock at the door startled him. Briarlight. She sat down beside him. It was like an unspoken friendship had formed between them.
"Hey," she half whispered to him, "Do you wanna go for a walk?"
Jayfeather nodded, "Yeah."
They both stood up and wandered out the door. Silently, with their heads down, they walked as if they were at a funeral. Jayfeathers' funeral. Where they were going, they didn't know.

They found themselves at the bar. They sat down on the stools. Of course, nobody was at the bar, serving, but a few more cats were sat at tables; Poppyfrost and Berrynose, Dovewing and Ivypool and Hollyleaf, Cinderheart and Heathertail.
"So," Jayfeather started, awkwardly, "Umm… What… err… is your… umm… favourite… food?"
Briarlight gave a little snort of amusement, then apologised, "Sorry, it's just, your being so awkward! Let me start. Who is your favourite couple?"
Jayfeather held back an eye roll, 'Girls!'. At least she hadn't mentioned the game, it was the thing he least wanted to talk about, "Umm… definitely Berrynose and Poppyfrost! It's really funny how they're crazy about each other."
"Yeah," Briarlight laughed, "Berrynose and Poppyfrost definitely are too crazy!"
Then she clasped her hand around her mouth, letting out a snort, "I hope they didn't here that! They'll be after me for over a moon," she had said it quite loud. When Berrynose gave them a funny look, Jayfeather whispered in her ear, still looking at Berrynose, "Uh, oh!"
That did it. They both went up in fits of laughter, Jayfeather accidently spitting Pepsi all over the floor. Berrynose walked over, "What's so funny?"
That just made the laugh more hysterically. He gave the two a weird look, then wandered back to his table. Poppyfrost was missing. He didn't seem bothered though; she probably had gone to the toilet. In that moment, a screech echoed through the villa. Jayfeather stood up, closely followed by Briarlight, their laughter stopping abruptly. Berrynose ran with them. Jayfeather could hear Breezepelt's voice from inside the girl's bathroom.
"Stay here," he growled to the others.
"No way!" Briarlight exclaimed, "Don't try to be the hero! You'll die!"
Jayfeather gazed at her, "I've survived him once before. I can do it again. I'm sorry…"
Without further words, he ran into the bathrooms and blocked the door with a large chair. He could hear both of them banging on the door and calling his name. Breezepelt was glaring at a cowering Poppyfrost. Jayfeather bolted in front of her, shielding her with his body, "Leave her alone, Breezepelt, your quarrel is with me, not Poppyfrost!"
"I would gladly kill you, but don't you realise what will happen if I kill you?" Breezepelt gazed at Jayfeather, his eyes glazed with hate, "Everyone will know it's me, but I have an easy victim right here. Plus, I don't want any other witnesses."
'Oh, Starclan, give me the power to save Poppyfrost,' Jayfeather thought, as Breezepelt lunged at him to try and force him back, 'Wait, power! That's it! The power Starclan gave me!' Jayfeather summoned his power, and Honeyfern (a Starclan cat appeared), forcing Breezepelt to run. But before Jayfeather could thank her, she disappeared.
"Is he gone?" Jayfeather remembered Poppyfrost was there.
"Yes, it's safe," Jayfeather offered out his hand to Poppyfrost, and she took it. He heaved her onto her feet and removed the chair from the door. It swung open, Berrynose flying across the room; he had been put all his weight on the door to try to push it open. Despite the fear that still clung to him, Jayfeather couldn't help but laugh. Briarlight giggled, and soon, Poppyfrost had joined in laughing. Soon, they were all laughing so hard, none of them could breathe. This broke the tension crackling in the air.

Jayfeather lay in bed. He smiled. Thinking of the laughter he had shared with Briarlight last night. But then his smile faded as he remembered the moment in the bathroom with Breezepelt. It was luck that he remembered the power. He couldn't hold Breezepelt back forever. As dark thoughts drifted through his mind, sleep washed over him like a wave of darkness.
