Heated Tension in South Ice Home
Troops of the Northern Tribe are marching through the streets telling the citizens to remain in their homes until further notice, but the Southern Tribe citizens aren't liking the North coming into their homes acting like they own the country.
Southern Waterbender soldiers are also at the dock blocking the way so that no ship could leave the country got Mako and Korra concern watching this from the palace.
"Uncle, why did you bring your troops down from the North?" Korra asked.
"Now that you've opened the Southern portal, we need to protect it from the people who would do the spirits harm." Unalaq explained.
"But the way you're having your troops come in all of a sudden is just going to make the people unease, they'll think you came here to take over." Mako pointed out.
"I can assure you there is no conquest in this, all I want is to unite the two nations as one such as it was long ago." Unalaq said though Mako can sense there is something else going on here.
"Okay, so how do we go about uniting the water tribes?" Korra asked raising an eyebrow.
"There is another portal, in the North. Once you open it, spirits and man will be able to move freely between the North and the South in a matter of seconds." Unalaq revealed Korra's next task.
"But the solstice is over. How am I going to open it?" Korra puzzled.
"I think you can with your spirit energy stronger now." Mako detected that part in her.
"He is right, the spiritual energy in the North Pole is also much stronger there as well." Unalaq nodded.
"With both portals open, our tribes will be united again." Korra realized this a little.
"The world will be united again." Unalaq smiled.
But that is when Mako sense that dark feeling within Unalaq for a second or two though he can definitely tell this means his goal has a darker purpose, and he needs to get Korra away from him for a while to talk this out with her and some others.
"Hey Korra, why don't we go check on your dad? I'm sure this isn't settling well with him." Mako suggested.
"Yeah, better go make sure he doesn't break any walls at the house." Korra said with her hands on her hips.
"Go on, I shall call you when the time comes for to make our way for the North Pole." Unalaq said.
"Great, we'll catch you later. Bye!" Mako rushed out pushing Korra from behind.
"Korra, I felt it again. That small dark feeling from your uncle." Mako whispered.
"Alright, we'll talk about this when get to my parents' house." Korra nodded as they walk out of the palace.
Unalaq stroke his chin thinking there might be something going on with those two, especially with that young man being sharp in the mind that makes him a little worry for his plan.
(With Tenzin's Family Vacation)
Tenzin is seen sitting in front of the Southern Air Temple with Pema next to him whole Rohan both feeling relax while Kya is sitting on a rock feeding some lemurs thinking they look cute and all.
"So, still think I don't know how to relax, big sister?" Tenzin asked sarcastically with a smile.
"I have to say, this is the most relaxing thing I see you doing in… well, a long time." Kya shrugged.
"Oh yes, I haven't felt this at peace since—" Tenzin's sentence was interrupted when Bumi enter the scene with his robe open and in his underwear. "Aaand, it's over." He sighed.
Bumi to the top of the rock Kya is sitting on much of her shock seeing her older brother dress like this even in this early in the morning, he takes in a deep breath getting all that fresh air.
"Gooood morning, Universe!" Bumi shouted exciting.
"Bumi, please, cover yourself." Kya covered her eyes and turning her head away.
"Well, lookee here, "Vacation Tenzin" has finally decided to join us." Bumi teased.
"Yes, he has. It's so nice to get to spend more time with my family. Isn't that right, my little Rohan?" Tenzin smiled at his youngest baby son in his arms.
"And I've really enjoyed having you two around. Reminds me of all those great vacations we took as kids with Dad." Tenzin mentioned.
"Uhh, I think your memory's a little foggy. Bumi and I weren't on those great vacations. It was always just you and Dad." Kya said looking a little sad as Bumi frowns too.
Hearing this from his older sister made Tenzin shock to hear that Bumi and Kya never went with him and their dad on any of the vacation places they go to.
"No, that can't be right. What about the time he took us to Kyoshi Island to ride the elephant koi?" Tenzin tried to remember right.
"Nope, we weren't there." Kya said shook her head.
"…Not even Ember Island where we made sand palaces?" Tenzin asked again.
"You mean, you built? We never saw the place." Bumi said.
Thinking back on those vacation times back when he was a kid, it was becoming clearer to Tenzin that it was all becoming true. When he and his father went on vacation together, neither of his older siblings ever went along with them and he also started to realize that they never brought mother with them as well which is odd.
"Oh, so… it was just me and dad." Tenzin said.
"Took you long enough to notice, huh?" Bumi asked sarcastically and Kya let out a sigh.
Then Jinora and Meelo came in riding on their air scooters with Poki following them with his wings.
"Morning, kids!" Bumi greeted as he and Kya got down from the rock.
"Morning, Uncle Bumi!" The kids greeted back, and Meelo looks at Bumi fat belly.
"Do you have a baby in there?" Meelo asked causing Pema, Jinora, and Tenzin.
"Told you to go easy on the snacks." Tenzin chuckled, but Pema notice Ikki is missing from the group.
"Where's your sister?" Pema asked as she walks up to them.
"Who?" Jinora pretended not to know what her mother is talking about.
"Ikki. About this tall. Talks real fast. I'm sure you know her." Pema said giving a look.
Jinora felt uneasy of telling her mom what happened during the time before coming back where with Ikki, but then Meelo butted in giving a not realistic answer.
"There was a lemur fight, but the bison told us not to worry because a giant was coming. Then we almost got eaten by a shark-squid!" Meelo said exciting.
"The shark-squid? He's here? It appears my old nemesis has found me." Bumi feared, thinking back on his "glory days" with the army.
Pema just ignores him and ask her oldest daughter the obvious question.
"Jinora, were you and Meelo teasing your sister again?" Pema asked.
"I don't know… Maybe… Yes…" Jinora gave in telling her mom the honest answer and Meelo decided to confess too.
"She ran away." Meelo said causing Pema's face to turn red in anger.
"Honestly, I don't know why you kids can't just get along!" Pema said upset that her kids are being like this even though they're young and full of energy as anyone at that age would be.
"It's all right, dear, Ikki couldn't have gone far. I'll find her." Tenzin offered to go find their youngest daughter and handed Rohan back to Pema.
"Commander Bumi reporting for duty! Search-and-rescue missions are my specialty." Bumi saluted, volunteering to help find Ikki.
"What do you say we all go together?" Kya suggested with her arms on their shoulders.
"Sure, I'll certainly need the help." Tenzin smiled.
"When I get back, we'll come out with a plan to take down that shark-squid once and for all!" Bumi said to Meelo.
"Yeah!" Meelo grinned enthusiastically.
"You know, I was always worried about Bumi joining the military." Tenzin whispered to Kya.
"Like accidentally blowing up his camp, same here." Kya nodded.
(Wolf Cove, Tonraq's House)
A dozen people or so of the Southern Water Tribe has been gathered within Tonraq's home along with Asami and Varrick attending, Korra and Mako are here as well to talk about the recent activate of the Northern Tribe coming here because of Unalaq.
"Thank you for coming, everyone. I know these last few days have been very troubling." Tonraq said.
"More like ridiculous, sir." Mako commented.
"Troubling? Ridiculous? Troubling is when I get that itchy rash that won't go away, and Zhu Li's not around to scratch it. This is shocking. But these kale cookies? Opposite." Varrick said before turning to Zhu Li.
"Remind me to get the recipe later." Varrick said and Zhu Li nods.
"What's your point, Varrick?" Tonraq asked.
"My point is, Unalaq's already booted our chieftains out of their palace. How long before he starts telling us what kind of cookies we can eat?" Varrick asked while getting himself some more cookies.
"Probably a few days." Zhu Li answered.
"Rhetorical question, Zhu Li, you gotta keep up." Varrick said before turning his attention back to the gathering.
"Not to mention, I've got a cargo ship full of halibut that's rotting thanks to this harbor lockdown. Who wants to buy a ship full of stinking fish? Seriously, it's not rhetorical. I need to sell these fish." Varrick complained.
"Chief Unalaq is here to help the South. He wants to show us how to restore balance with the spirits, so they'll stop attacking." Korra tried to talk them down.
"The only spirit I'm interested in restoring is our spirit of independence. Am I right, people?" Varrick asked and they agree with him.
"Look, I know what my uncle is doing may seem like he's out to make the South his rule." Korra shrugged.
"Oh, oh, he definitely wants that! He wants control of our wealth. My wealth. And I like my wealth. If Unalaq doesn't pull his forces out, then we have no choice but to fight for our freedom!" Varrick stated and the gather agrees with him in anger.
"You want to start a war? Are you crazy?" Korra asked shock.
"Unalaq started this, not us." Tonraq pointed out, earning a glare from Korra.
"Look, you all have the right to be angry about this recent change without even getting a heads up and Unalaq forcing himself onto you was uncalled for but going into war may not be the best idea and you could end up falling into his hands." Mako stated.
"You think he want us to start a war with him so he can seize control of this nation more?" Tonraq asked.
"I don't know for sure, but he is definitely up to something more than just wanting to bring the nations together as one by opening the spirit portals." Mako said with a hand on his chin.
"To be honest, I agree with Mako on this one." Korra crossed her arms under her breasts.
"But the only thing I can think of knowing is to go talk with Unalaq in person though I'm not sure if he'll tell us anything." Korra concerned.
"Do what you can with him but know if he doesn't see reason with how this is making the South unease then I'm afraid we may end up going into a civil war." Tonraq warned.
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that." Mako said.
(With Bolin and the Northern Twins)
Bolin is seen pulling a rickshaw with Eska and Desna inside enjoying the ride, or least he thinks they're enjoying the ride on the inside with the outside still looking emotionless as they've always been, but she seems to doesn't mind Pabu on her lap and petting his head.
"I will hate to leave this quaint tribe." Eska said.
"Is that true, Eska?" Desna asked.
"Of course not, Desna, I will not miss it at all. I hold immense dislike for the South." Eska said and the twin do an awkward laugh together which Bolin did as well.
"Sorry, should I be laughing with you guys too? I can't tell." Bolin asked.
"It's fine, we have arrived." Eska pointed ahead.
Bolin stops and use his earthbending to make floating staircase for the twins to climb down with Pabu jumping back onto him.
"So, I hope you enjoy the time we have together, and by that, I mean getting to know my brother." Bolin grinned.
"The journey we had was enjoyable despite being short, it was something else like none I have ever felt before." Eska said.
"You did look happier with Mako being around, it was like your heart was beating faster and about to explode." Desna noticed that as well.
"A million times if physical possible." Eska admitted.
"(All that from some small talks they had?)" Bolin thought confused, not really sure how this girl works with her feelings and such.
But he decided to try encouraging this for his end to help Eska get closer with Mako.
"Well, I can definitely tell he's grown a liking to you as well and he would he thrill to have you as a third lover. I mean, he has two girlfriends together, so that means he's fine with having another or more, meaning you got a chance with him." Bolin stated cheerfully.
"Hold on, Mako is dating both girls? Why did you not tell me about this?" Eska asked with fire in her calm eyes.
"I… thought you knew seeing how he is mostly with Korra and Asami together, it was kind of obvious." Bolin pointed out.
"Calm, sister. Perhaps this is a good chance for you, to make the monkey man complete your heart or whatever line from those cheesy love stuff and all." Desna pointed out.
"Hmm." Eska stopped for a moment doing some thinking.
"Alright, I shall take it." Eska nodded.
Eska turns her head to see Mako flying down from the sky close to them.
"Hey Mako, ready to head back to the hotel?" Mako asked then Eska walks up very close to him face-to-face.
"Are you doing anything tonight?" Eska asked.
"Well, me and Korra are gonna see Unalaq soon, and we're gonna have dinner with Asami at this one restaurant, then head to our room." Mako explained though feeling a bit nervous, and his heart racing a little.
"I'm coming with you for the dinner, and after that, I want you to come to my room. No delay." Eska said before walking away into the building with Desna.
"Huh, Bolin, what just happened?" Mako asked his little brother.
"Well, I think you're about to get yourself a third girlfriend thanks to me, I think." Bolin said as he is also a little confuse of what is going on right now.
"What? But I thought you wanted her to be your girlfriend?" Mako surprised.
"Oh yeah, we were having a good time getting to know each other, but it turns out she's not the girl I'm looking for. And let's be honest, she's too dark and edgy for a bright and awesome guy like me!" Bolin bragged.
"I don't know, she seems alright with me and she's also good with poems even though they would scare most people into vomiting." Mako stated.
"But not you, right?" Bolin asked with a grin.
"Well, one thing I do know is that when she wants something, she intends to get it no matter what and want to keep it close to her cold heart forever." Bolin explained.
"Okay, that's good to know." Mako raised an eyebrow.
(Throne Room)
Mako and Korra arrived at the throne room to speak with Unalaq about the soldiers and the citizens.
"Korra, our next training sessions isn't until tomorrow." Unalaq said.
"I'm sorry to interrupt. It's about our conversation this morning." Korra said and the uncle decided to listen.
"Sir, we think it was wrong for you to bring the troops here because it's making the people unease and scared that you have come to take their home away." Mako stated.
"Such nonsense, I am their chief. I'm uniting, not invading." Unalaq assured.
"I know, but I'm just afraid if something doesn't change, there could be a civil war." Korra warned.
"If the Water Tribes were at war, the other nations would take sides. The dark spirits would thrive off this negative energy, and the world would be thrown into a battle between spirits and man. That would be catastrophic." Unalaq pointed out.
"We know that, but we also know that you might have a hidden motive of this unifying of yours." Mako said with a slight glare.
"Hidden motive? Are you suggesting that I'm hiding secrets from you or something? I've been honest with you all from the beginning." Unalaq surprised to this from Mako.
"That maybe so but let just say Mako has a sharper sense of knowing if someone is hiding something deeper than most wouldn't even notice at all." Korra explained.
"So Uncle, either you tell us exactly what you intend to do with the spirit portals or this Avatar is leaving you." Korra threatened with a glare.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
Things are really heating up within the cold continent of Korra's homeland as she and Mako are confronting Unalaq to find out for themselves what he really wants, and it looks like things get heating up within Tenzin's family vacation as well.
