Civil War Between Water Brothers

Korra is seen waiting for Mako to come to her parents' home since they agree to meet them here in the morning, and it's already past 8:30 am.

"Are you sure that Mako will be able to get the information about my brother's plan from his daughter?" Tonraq asked.

"Trust me, dad. When Detective Mako is on the case, he won't rest until he cracks it and see it through to the end." Korra promised with a confident smirk.

"You know, it wasn't that long ago when you first introduce us to Mako on the time you wanted a vacation time away from Republic City." Tonraq mentioned.

"Yeah, you were trying to be very intimidating to scare Makoto off and make me dateless." Korra said sarcastically.

"Wait, that was not my intention!" Tonraq stated, feared that his daughter may have gotten mix feelings about it.

"I'm kidding, I know you were only looking out for me." Korra chuckled with a light pat on the arm, then notice how sad and anger her dad looks right now.

"Upset about finding out that your own brother planned your own banishment all those years ago?" Korra asked.

"Still am, but at least I'm toning down my rage… For the moment." Tonraq answered honestly with his arms cross.

"But I can't deny the fact that I am furious of my brother doing such a thing to me, to his own family. And t what end?" Tonraq asked, clutching his hand onto his arm.

"Don't worry, dad, we'll figure something out and put Unalaq in his place." Korra promised with a determined look.

"Still though, whatever Uncle Unalaq has plans must have something to do with the spirit portal he had me opened and the other one too. And I'm no detective like Mako, but it also seems like he's trying to do all this in a hurry like something is coming soon." Korra stated.

"Sounds big, something my brother would always go for." Tonraq commented.

"And it's gonna be even bigger than you think." Mako said as he flew in, with Eska literally on his back with her arms around his neck.

"I take it the information gather went well?" Korra looked over at her daze cousin Eska.

"Oh, we exchange more than words." Eska chuckled with a dark expression look in her eyes.

"Korra, I think I'd like to have a word with that young man later." Tonraq said with a firm tone.

"Easy dad, let just go inside and talk it over." Korra chuckled nervously.

"Did you have to bring Eska?" Korra asked.

"I was going to leave her back at her home, but she wouldn't let go of me no matter what I do. So, against my better judgement, I brought her along even though we are against her dad." Mako explained.

"My dad's big dream is little matter to me, I just wanna experience some things I never had before and probably enjoy some darkness too, but being with him is just as great." Eska giggled and kissed his cheek.

"You really went all wild with her, didn't you?" Korra asked.

"Let just go inside." Mako said as his cheeks are blushing, and they went into the small house.

Mako sat Eska down leaning against the wall as Senna brought her a small plate of snacks for her in case, she wants any, and the family gather around the table.

"So, what have you been able to find out?" Senna asked.

"Well, turns out Unalaq definitely have big plans for the two spirit portals to be open when something called the Harmonic Convergence that only happens every 10 thousand years." Mako started explaining everything he was able to get out of Eska.

"Harmonic Convergence? I don't think I heard of that before, and I have a feeling Tenzin might not know about it either." Korra said.

"Apparently during the Harmonic Convergence, the planets around ours are align causing the spiritual energy like Spirit Bending to be amplified greatly which will also causes the North and South Spirit portal to merge, while an aura of spirit energy envelops the Earth." Mako explained some more.

"So, Uncle Unalaq wants to cover the earth in lots of spirit energy." Korra said.

"I don't think it's only reason Unalaq wants with this Harmonic Convergence, I feel like there is something else within that event that he wants." Tonraq said crossing his arms.

"And you are right, Unalaq wants to the two portals to be open for the Harmonic Convergence to free an ancient spirit that was been imprisoned within the spirit world, a spirit named Vaatu." Mako informed shocking the family.

"Okay, I have no idea on who this Vaatu is, but he sounds like a really bad spirit." Korra commented.

"That's because he is, or at least that's the kind of impression I got when dad told me and Desna the story." Eska said, getting their attention.

"He actually told you, his plan?" Senna asked surprise.

"Yeah, dad wanted many supporters on his side to help him achieve his big goal to "purifying the world by bringing back the spirits" and all that other stuff." Eska said quoting the words with her fingers.

"So, what exactly is Vaatu?" Tonraq asked.

"And what did you mean by bringing back the spirits?" Mako added another question that got him curious too.

"Well, a long time ago, there were two major spirits that were, like, above all other spirits in the spirit world and these spirits have been battling each other countless times for the Harmonic Convergence. One of them was Vaatu, the Spirit of Darkness." Eska explained.

"Yeah, I am really not liking this Vaatu guy." Korra said.

"I think you would hate him more since it was his dark nature to make the negative emotions within spirits to go Dark Spirit crazy with his essence or whatever." Eska mentioned.

"That was all Vaatu's doing?" Mako asked shock.

"Maybe not entirely, spirits can be swayed to negative emotions if there are like, I don't know, a room full of people with negative emotions and such." Eska shrugged.

"Vaatu is a dark spirit who craves for chaos and destruction, and according to my dad, he was the one who first cross over to our mortal world long before humans came into existence and broke down the barrier between the two worlds." Eska mentioned.

"Wow, sounds like this guy is a handful." Korra commented.

"He is, and there was also this other great spirit known as the spirit of light and Peace, I think her name was Raava." Eska said.

"Light and darkness, two sides that always exist together to balance everything in the universe as one cannot co-exist without the other." Mako said, sounding like a wise old man.

"You sound just like Kame right now." Korra surprised.

"But wait, if Vaatu and Raava are the opposite spirit of each other then how did the bad spirit end up imprisoned?" Korra asked curiously.

"It was something about the Avatar from long ago since the last Harmonic Convergence, he battled with Raava to defeat Vaatu and sealed him away." Eska answered, trying to remember the best she could.

"Then that means there was an Avatar from 10,000 years ago." Mako said.

"Korra, have you ever spoken to any past Avatars from that long ago?" Mako asked his girlfriend.

"No, I don't think so, I've never really gone that far back when I wanted to speak with one of my past selves before. Like a forgotten deep in my memories." Korra said, getting a weird feeling that might be the case.

"Then maybe you can do some meditation to get in touch with all the Avatars, even going to the very first Avatar that ever existed." Mako suggested.

"Damn, I never really done that kind of meditation before, but I'm willing to give it a try if that will help us understand more of Uncle Unalaq's plan and put a stop to him." Korra said, deciding on going along with that plan.

"Eska, do you mind if I ask you one more question?" Tonraq asked his niece.

"Sure, I'm pretty sure dad will consider me a traitor since I gave away so much important information to the enemies." Eska shrugged.

"I'm sure he'll just ground you until your ninety." Tonraq stated.

"Anyway, what I want to know is why is my brother who seems to have planned everything up to this point in order to unleash the spirit of darkness and destruction? The Unalaq I know would never resort himself into doing something that dangerous unless it was what he believes to be right." Tonraq asked the big question.

Mako and Korra were a little surprise to hear that Tonraq is almost sounding like he was defending Unalaq's action unless he knows for sure, must be the big brother thing for a man like him to do.

"So glad you've been thinking of me lately, brother." Unalaq said sarcastically.

Suddenly the entire igloo of Korra's parents' home has been lifted and thrown away as the group turns to see Unalaq with some of his forces and Densa right next to his father.

"I take it this is more than picking up your daughter?" Tonraq asked as he stands up.

"Yes, and she is so grounded until she's ninety." Unalaq stated that he is angry at his daughter right now.

"Look like you called it, Uncle Tonraq." Eska said.

"I also know about you setting those bandits to go into that sacred forest all those years ago, just so you can be chief of the Northern Water Tribe. As another step of your plan." Tonraq glared at his little brother.

"Indeed, it was all necessary to correct the world. To return it to the true state it was before it was forced to change by the decision of the Avatar." Unalaq admitted without hiding himself anymore.

"Come on, whichever Avatar you're talking about who kicked Vaatu's ass, definitely didn't want the world to end up in a world of darkness and other fuck up stuff to happen upon the world." Korra stated.

"Oh Korra, it would seem you have yet to know the truth of the Avatar. THE Avatar, the one who sealed away Vaatu and merged with Raava in order to fight against him." Unalaq said.

"Wait, merge." Korra confused.

"I might as well tell you this much before we get to me forcing you to come open the spirit portal at the North Pole." Unalaq decided as he took a few steps forward.

"The Avatar I speak of was the one who started it all, the who started slowly making this world plain and unstable because of his so-called wise decision, the one who went against the natural order of the world." Unalaq glared at his niece.

"(I have a feeling this is gonna be like a truth bomb that he's about to throw at us.)" Mako thought tried to mentally prepare himself for whatever's about to come out of that guy's mouth.

"The Avatar I'm speaking of was the very first Avatar, the first to have been born into this world ten thousand years ago." Unalaq revealed which shocks Korra as she never knew that kind of history about the Avatar until now.

"(The very first Avatar!)" Korra thought shocked.

"I'm surprised you even knew about the first Avatar since that legend was never spoken throughout the centuries for the past 10,000 years." Mako stated.

"That Avatar's legend fades a long time ago when the cycle of the Avatar being reborn into a new life and that legend has begun after the first several or so, but I have been studying much deeper of our world's history and discover things have made me feel disgrace of that Avatar's decision." Unalaq said.

"What's so wrong about sealing away a crazy spirit who wants destruction and covering the world in darkness?" Mako asked.

"Young man, you have yet to understand fully of what I have intended on doing for what is best for the world." Unalaq proclaimed.

"Is that really what you believe, brother? Or are you just trying to convince yourself otherwise?" Tonraq asked with a fierce glare.

"That is something you should be worried about second because I'm going to take you all in and force Korra to open that portal." Unalaq said.

"Not on your life!" Korra glared as she gets into her fighting stance.

"I fear you would resort to brutal measures, just like your father." Unalaq taunted with a serious glare at his older brother.

That felt like the last straw for the father of the Avatar as he charges forward and moves his arms forward to unleash a snowy-turn-ice attack at his younger brother who quickly blocks it with his own ice wall.

And thus, the battle of the family has begun.

Korra went took off to fight against Unalaq's soldiers as they try to fire some ice daggers and some water whips at her, but her flying capability gave her a big advantage to dodge most of the attacks and even redirecting them back with a few Ki blasts to knock them away.

Mako also joins the fray as he blitzes at several soldiers, knocking them down each with one blow from his fist though five soldiers were able to blast him with some water from the snow and turning all of the water into ice to trap him inside, but the monkey young man easily broke up with a burse of his Ki shockwave that also knocked away the soldiers.

Unalaq and Tonraq are having their own battle of waterbending as they have not fought each other in a long time, only when they were doing training back when they lived together.

Tonraq unleash a flurry of ice blocks and swipe kick for a water wave attack for the feet, Unalaq dodges the ice blocks and forms an ice ram to jump over the water wave and form two water walls to crash onto his older brother only for him to jump straight up with a water boost.

Unalaq quickly form a tentacle water to grab his foot and slams him down to the ground and comes down to splash some big water hard, but Tonraq was able to block the incoming attack by forming an ice dome above himself, then thrust his palm forward for an ice pillar to strike Unalaq in the stomach to send him flying.

Korra zooms down toward her cousin Densa who is showing some ice bladed disk at her and quickly form an ice wall, but that didn't stop Korra's hand from breaking through and grabbing him by the throat.

"Are you really okay with your dad freeing a crazy spirit that could end up destroying the world?" Korra asked.

"Dad is not going to destroy the world; he's going to unite the humans and spirits like before the first Avatar cut off that connection. Also, he found a way for him to become powerful together with Vaatu." Densa stated.

"But don't you think he's going too far just for that goal, innocent people could get hurt from his ideal or worse, killed." Korra pointed out.

"Densa, I know we don't always see each other eye-to-eye, but even you must see that your dad isn't in the right." Korra said.

"Sorry, but I'm following my father. No hard feelings." Densa said.

Korra sigh, it was at least worth a try to convince another of her cousins to go against his dad.

"Same." Korra said before she headbutted him away and slide right next to Eska.

"So, how was sex with Mako?" Densa asked.

"Amazing. Pounding his rode of flesh into my sacred temple like a beast seeking something to eat for the fill of his heart." Eska described in a weird, loving way that got Densa to puke a tiny saliva and probably his breakfast.

"Gross. And congrats for you." Densa said.

Tonraq pushes Unalaq away and forms the biggest ice wall he could muster before turning to Korra and Mako.

"You two! Go back to Republic City and find get us reinforcement from the United Army." Tonraq ordered.

"Are you sure? We can take them." Mako said as he punched one soldier unconscious.

"I know, but I fear that Unalaq may already send men guarding the spirit portal of the North Pole. We'll try to fight him off here and you guys go after that portal." Tonraq stated.

"Damn it, I'm afraid he's right." Mako cursed.

"Korra, we gotta go." Mako called out. Korra knew that her dad wants them to go.

"We'll be back for you once we finish business in the South Pole." Korra promised before flying off.

"Hey bro, now that I'm a traitor to dad, I'm gonna go with them." Eska said as she stands up.

"Sure." Densa said, not in the mood to stop his sister.

Eska snow slides to follow Mako and Korra as she got an idea of where they are going while Unalaq finally gotten through the ice wall as he glares angrily at Tonraq and notices that Korra is gone, this set him off boiling mad on the inside.
