Returning to Republic City for Help
Mako and Korra finally arrive at the big yacht that is owned by Varrick with Eska surprisingly right on their tail, there Bolin and Asami are there talking about some business stuff and spotted the three.
"Hey, how did things go with Unalaq?" Bolin asked.
"Well, it was pretty great that we found out my uncle is trying to unleash an ancient evil spirit that was locked away by apparently the very first Avatar that I have no idea about! And now we have to get out of the South Pole to go back to Republic City for reinforcement and hope stop this whole crazy thing before it can even start!" Korra explained the best she could and talk a little fast too and breath again.
"So, not good." Bolin asked again, wanted to be sure he got all that right.
"We need to go, now!" Mako yelled a little bit.
"Maybe Varrick's boat can get us back to Republic City, but I'm not sure if it can go fast." Asami said.
(Varrick's Office)
"Of course, my yacht can go fast." Varrick smirked.
"Really? Was it in case of emergency to get away from some pirate waterbenders?" Korra asked as she and the others are looking at the rich man weirdly, minus Eska with her emotionless face as always.
"That and other stuff I rather not tell you." Varrick nodded.
"Great! Now we can get out of here!" Bolin smiled.
"Before that… Why are you hiding inside the stuff body of a platypus bear?" Mako asked the big question.
The scene finally shows the rich man that Asami became a business partner with him to help her company not going down to the ground and Bolin made a good impression on, is hiding inside the stuff statue of platypus bear with his head poking out of the mouth.
"I heard word that Unalaq is making his move to force everyone into his rule and have gone after the Avatar's parents for the start." Varrick explained.
"Wow, word travels fast." Korra surprised.
"Let just say I know a guy." Varrick smirked.
"Now I'm feeling a bit concern about you knowing people." Mako raised an eyebrow.
"Later, big brother! Let's get the heck out of here!" Bolin declared.
"You got it! Zhu Li, let's show everyone how fast this boat of mine can do!" Varrick announced with excitement, and Zhu Li's thumb up came out of the belly.
"Were you two doing something private before we came here?" Eska asked.
"Just waiting around for a while until we feel like the coast is clear, eating some cookies and milk, and we did try to do shadow puppets but it's hard in this tiny space." Varrick answered.
"So, you two didn't have sex?" Eska asked shocking Team Avatar.
"Why would you think we'd be doing that?" Varrick confused of the question.
"Just curious." Eska shrugged.
"Wait, isn't she the daughter of your uncle?" Varrick asked, starting to recognize the girl.
"Back to Republic City!" Korra shouted.
The yacht started moving away from the dock of the Southern Water Tribe town going at a normal speed for a moment until the speed increased, going about two or three times faster than it was going before as Team Avatar and Eska looks back at the city.
"Goodbye, Southern Water Tribe, I hardly knew you." Eska bid the country farewell.
"So, she's here with us… why?" Bolin asked.
"We spent the night together and I had her spill all the details about her dad's plan." Mako answered simply.
"Oh, I can see that." Bolin nodded and patted big brother's back.
"So, we're gonna ask the president to send in backup to help stop Korra's crazy uncle?" Bolin asked.
"To be honest, I think the president won't take the request for backup." Mako sighed.
"What makes you say that?" Korra asked.
"Because he has his own responsibility to run Republic City the best he can and doesn't want to get involve because it would mean that Republic City is choosing one side over the other, which could make people angry at the decision." Mako explained on what he thinks.
"So, he's hoped the South and North tribes will try to settle this diplomatically?" Asam guessed.
"Most likely, this Republic City was founded and made by the support of all Four Nations including the two water tribes." Mako said, stroking his chin with his hand.
"I may not a lot out diplomate stuff, but that sounds like things will only get worse with my uncle getting closer to his goal." Eska pointed out.
"Right! Which is why we need to explain everything about my uncle's plan and hopefully he'll provide us with the United Forces." Korra pounded her fist into her hand.
"And if not, we're gonna have to try stopping Unalaq on our own." Mako stated.
"Not unless you give him a reason to like, I don't know, deploy a small number of soldiers to go into the right with you." Eska suggested.
"Whatever the case, we need to get ourselves ready for the fight against Unalaq and we need to do it before the Harmonic Convergence." Mako clutched his fist and his tail waves a little.
"Great! And when is the Harmonic Convergence?" Bolin asked.
"I have no idea." Mako answered with a straight face.
"I know." Eska said.
"Good to know." Mako nodded.
Korra looks onward to her homeland where no doubt her parents are probably hiding away from Unalaq and waiting for another day to strike, but she is worried that her dad along with others who will probably join him in this civil war won't be able to hold off her uncle for long. She doesn't want to imagine the worse thing that could happen to them.
"They'll be okay, we just gotta believe." Mako placed a hand on Korra's shoulder and pulled her in.
Varrick's yacht went all the way to Republic City where the day has gone to the afternoon when the sun is almost about to set down into the horizon, and Eska looks on seeing the city with her own eyes.
"Huh, it's shinier than I imagined." Eska commented.
"Wait until you see it during the night." Mako smiled.
"I just hope Future Industry is still okay with me being gone for so long." Asami worried about her company and need to check if everything is still running smoothly.
"If we don't save the world first." Korra muttered.
"Oh, sorry Korra, this involves your parents and tribe." Asami apologized, almost forgetting about Unalaq and his evil spirit plan.
"It's okay, sometimes I wish I could get that out of my head for just a moment." Korra said.
"Hmm, I think I see Chief Beifong at the dock." Mako narrowed his eyes at the edge of the dock.
"Hopefully, she doesn't know about the whole civil war thing and doesn't blame me for starting it." Korra sighed.
"I'm sure that's not in her mind." Mako assured.
"And maybe she hadn't heard about what's been going on at the Southern Water Tribe." Bolin added.
The yacht parked at the dock, and everyone went off including Varrick who finally came out of the stuff animal since they are out of water tribe territory.
Lin Beifong is watching her men taking in two criminals into the police truck and turns around to see Team Avatar is back and with someone she seems to recognize as Varrick, she decided to walk over to give them a proper "greeting".
"Welcome home, Avatar. Thanks for starting a war." Lin said sarcastically. Yup, she heard about it.
"Okay, just how fast does word travel like that?" Bolin asked shock.
"Okay, first off: I did not start a war, it was my uncle and two: we need to speak with President Raiko as soon as possible." Korra said.
"Bad timing then, President Raiko is busy with some paperwork and won't be out until after a Southern Water Tribe peace march tomorrow night which I need Mako on standby to make sure things don't go out of hand." Lin mentioned a peace march.
"I'm all yours." Mako saluted.
"I'll go too. The people of both North and South need to know the Avatar will not take any violence among the two tribes." Korra volunteered to come as well.
"You should have seen her back there, Chief Beifong. Korra lay out some serious authority on some men from both sides and declared that if the North and South were to fight each other before a peaceful solution can be given, she'll fight both of them." Mako explained.
"Huh, I'll admit, I have expected Korra to do something crazy but this one feel alright. Good work, Avatar Korra." Lin smiled at Korra.
"Thanks, now I'm hoping for the save behavior in this peace march." Korra said.
"If it'll help, I can come with you. The daughter of the Northern Water Tribe turned traitor walking alongside the Southern Water Tribes should help calm them down." Eska volunteered to help.
"Aw, thanks Eska. That's actually the nicest thing you have ever done." Korra complimented.
"I know, it's weird… Yet I like it." Eska said.
"Well, if you really think it'll help out with the Water Tribes then be my guest." Lin decided to let this slide before walking away.
"That woman has a lot of sass, I like her." Eska smiled.
"Somehow, I knew you would." Korra said.
"To be honest, Korra. I was really worried about you going there and I was gonna tell you to sit this one out." Mako said honestly.
"For real?" Asami asked walking into the conversation.
"Yeah, worried about you being there blatantly supporting one side will only make things worse." Mako said.
"Didn't you just tell your boss about Korra not picking sides?" Eska asked.
"I was I was worried, okay!" Mako snapped a bit.
"Well, you don't have to worry about a thing because things are going to be peaceful in this peaceful walk and hopefully, I can get an appointment with President Raiko by then." Korra said.
"Zhu Li's already scheduled a meeting for us with President Raiko the day after tomorrow. We'll get them on board." Varrick informed with a confident smirk.
"Well, until then guess we can chill. I'll be at my desk to check up on some things." Mako said as he walked away.
"I'll see you two later, I have to check on my factory." Asami kissed Korra's lips and Eska on the cheek.
"Maybe you two could do a little family bonding together in the meantime." Asami suggested before walking away to her factory.
"So, um, what should I be doing?" Bolin asked as he has now idea on what to do.
"Just try have some fun like you always do, go check on the Fire Ferrets on their Pro-Bending training, and don't get into trouble." Mako suggested without looking back.
"Okay, I could do all of that." Bolin shrugged though not really sure. And that's when Varrick decided to help out his little buddy to enjoy the night.
"Say, kid, have you ever seen Republic City at night?" Varrick asked, leaning onto Bolin.
"Sure, I live here." Bolin said.
"Have you really seen it?" Varrick asked again with his eyes narrowing onto Bolin.
"Y- no?" Bolin wasn't sure where was this man heading and a little nervous to find out, but he couldn't say no to him for some reason.
"That's what I thought. Come on." Varricked excitedly drags Bolin to where he plans on taking him to show the kid some fun.
(With Unalaq)
Unalaq is looking over at the horizon over the Southern Water Tribe city knowing that his big brother who escape from their earlier battle is hiding somewhere, planning his next move against him.
"You will not escape me, Korra." Unalaq said to himself.
"Father, having trouble with your thoughts?" Densa asked, walking into the room.
"Is it that obvious?" Unalaq asked sarcastically.
"Sorry that my sister turned her back against you." Densa apologized on his twin sister's behalf.
"You don't have to apologize for her, my son. I should have known better than to let her get near that Mako boy, especially the kind of power I can feel coming off from him." Unalaq remembered the feeling of Mako's power.
"I can't sense power well yet like you can, but I could have sworn it felt… primal like a monkey man. More than the tail." Densa commented.
"You are correct. It as almost as Mako has a greater power hidden within himself, like a giant monkey beast concealing itself until the boy use that power." Unalaq stated of how that power felt to him.
"It really felt stronger than anything we have ever felt before." Densa pointed out.
"Yes, which is why we must find a way to get Korra over to the South Pole as she is the only one who can open that portal." Unalaq growled a bit.
"It's not going to be easy, but we also know that Korra is definitely gonna come back here to try and stop you. Maybe you can use that to trap her or something." Densa suggested.
"Hmm, that might not be such a bad idea. In fact, perhaps we can do one better for her." Unalaq smirked as he starts hatching a plan in his head that will surely get that girl to come over to him.
(With Mako)
"And that's all I have to report, ma'am." Mako finished his report to Chief Beifong about what has been going on in the South Pole and what Unalaq is planning to do.
"Good lord, now I'm worried if Korra's recklessness came from her uncle." Lin sighed.
"Except he's doing this that will harm and perhaps killed innocent lives." Mako feared.
"That's something we don't want, and what was all that "returning the world to how it was" nonsense he was going on about?" Lin asked, finding this whole thing to be one crazy mix if anyone ask her.
"I'm not really sure, all I know is that it has something to do with the very first Avatar from ten thousand years ago." Mako stated.
"And I take it Korra has no clue about this first Avatar." Lin guessed.
"Afraid not, but she is going to do some deep meditation on the subject, trying to connect herself all the way to the beginning. Maybe learn more about this Vaatu and how it all started." Mako hoped Korra will do some meditation on this.
"Guess all we can do now is wait, though something tells me Korra isn't going to wait for very long after the whole peace march." Lin said.
"Which may not be peaceful as there are bound to be people who will disagree with the march." Mako feared as he looks out the window.
"Think President Raiko will give up the United Force as backup against Unalaq? He might be willing to once he hears the story." Mako asked.
"Normally, President Raiko wouldn't want to interfere with the affairs of the Nouth and South Water Tribe if it was just them going into a Civil War, but this whole ancient spirit thing that even the Avatar might have trouble with. He might be willing to listen." Lin stated.
"We can only hope so." Mako said before walking away.
"Mako, one more thing." Lin said, stopping the boy from leaving.
"Try to be very careful with this case, you'll never know when there is danger right around the corner, especially to those who want to use the Avatar's power for evil." Lin stated.
"Trust me, I'm aware and we're going to put a stop to Unalaq before he could eve say hi to Vaatu." Mako promised with his emerald aura flicking for a second and then he walk away for real.
(Later)
"Korra, I came by to see how you're holding up!" Mako called out as he flew to the Air Temple Island, then he looks down seeing Eska waving at him, and he lands right in front of her.
"Hey Eska, where's Korra?" Mako asked.
"She's over there." Eska pointed and lead him the way to show Korra sitting in a position with her eyes close and being all quiet.
"So, she's going to do it." Mako said.
"Yep, she's going deep to learn our forgotten history." Eska nodded.
Korra is about to take a historical journey to learn everything she can about Vaatu, the other spirit named Raava, and the first Avatar.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
Now we are arriving to the part about Korra learning about the first Avatar much earlier than in the cartoon show, and she is going to be in for the ride of her life once she looks into the life of the first Avatar and everything that transpire ten thousand years ago too.
