Chapter 2: Beginning of a Black Tail (Part 2)

A/N: To get the ball rolling with the real story, we're gonna get Lullaby arc started. After this arc, we'll do the Dungeon Exploration arc where the real changes to the story start forming. I'm not sure what to do about Nero and Mirajane in terms of relationships. I'm probably gonna pair Nero with Asta, but I'm not 100% sure, and I'm leaning toward pairing Mira up with Natsu, but I already have him with a lot of girls (with one being her sister), plus they'll both be getting another girl who will be revealed way later, so it just feels weird to me. Comment on whether or not you want them involved in the harems, or if you want something else, maybe something weird like Mira X Yuno or something. Also, Lucy, Asta, Yuno, Noelle, and Mimosa are all 18 here and Natsu is 19.

6 months later…

August of X784

Two girls were out in the middle of the forest during the dead of night, trying to get better at their magic. One girl is a young woman with a slender build, pink eyes, and silver hair. The other has a voluptuous build with long, wavy vermillion hair on her head with bangs on her forehead. These were Noelle Silva and Mimosa Vermillion (try and guess who's who), two childhood friends and grimoire holders who were on a journey to prove themselves to the world. Noelle is currently trying to gain control of her unruly water magic but is finding it difficult to focus her magic how she wants it to go.

"Damn it!" She cries out in frustration as she misses another tree and leaves more craters in the ground, "Why won't it go where I want it to!" As she does this, flashbacks of her family and their cruel words flash through her head.

'How could I have made a failure like you.'

'She can't even control her magic'

'That grimoire must be fake, no way it has four leaves'

'You're an embarrassment to our family, just leave already'

'I'll make them acknowledge me!' She inwardly cries while focusing her magic, only for it to suddenly go haywire and summon a giant blue sphere that shot a dozen water tendrils across the area. Mimosa, who had been nearby while this was happening, cried out in horror as the tendrils began tearing up the landscape.

"Noelle, what's going on!" Mimosa shouts as she tries to dodge the water, but Noelle can't respond as she is currently drowning. As Mimosa continues dodging the water tendrils, she's about to pull out her own grimoire to try and protect herself before she trips on a branch and falls. Looking up, she can only cry out in desperation as a water tendril shoots towards her, "Someone please help us!"

Before the tendril hits, a silhouette appears over here and blocks the tendril with a swing of a giant rusty sword. As she stares in awe at the short white-haired swordsman, taking note of the glove over his right arm, he looks back at her with a bright smile and say, "Don't worry, I've got this," setting her heart aflutter. He then turns back to face the silver haired damsel and rushes towards her, blocking every tendril with a swing of his sword. After dodging and parrying for a bit, he runs up a tree in an effort to reach Noelle. Once he reaches a high enough point, he launches himself off the tree with such force that the tree shatters from where he leapt, and then proceeds to cut the giant water sphere in half, wielding the giant blade one-armed while using the other to grab her as he flies through the orb.

As Noelle opens her eyes, she finds the short swordsman as he is clutching her in one arm and simply asks, "Hey are you okay? That was scary." This blunt interaction causes her to blush before realizing a much greater issue. "WE'RE FALLING OUT OF THE SKY!" This also makes Asta realize it too, as they both begin falling to the ground at a rapid pace, hurtling towards the ground. Before they actually hit the ground however, a gust of green wind catches them and softly drops them on the ground.

"Geez Asta, couldn't you have waited a bit for me to get here? What if I wasn't there to catch you?" Yuno asks as he emerges from the shade of the trees into the clearing.

"Well maybe if you hurried your butt up you could've saved these cute-looking girls before me and taken the credit!" Asta yells out in an annoyed response.

As the two begin to bicker (or rather Asta yells at him, while Yuno gives a reaction so detached, he gives a brick wall a run for its money), the two newly saved girls blush as they take in the words Asta said about them. 'Cute-looking…' Asta then remembers the two girls exist and rushes to check up on them.

"Hey, are you two alright? What happened and what are two fancy looking girls like you doing all the way out here near the forsaken realm?" He asks curiously. The two girls recover from being stunned at his comments for Noelle to nervously reply, "Well, we were trying to get to Magnolia, but we kept getting on the wrong bus and eventually just decided to walk the rest of the way there. We stopped here for the night and were just trying to get better at our magic before…" She trails off, not wanting to embarrass herself by admitting that she lost control of her magic, causing the incident in the first place.

The two young men glance at each other in understanding before Asta asks, "Wait, why were you going to Magnolia?"

"Because that's where the number one guild Fairy Tail is." Mimosa replies, to which Asta replies with a goofy grin, "What a coincidence, we're going there too."

One week later

Joining Fairy Tail was the best decision Lucy ever made besides leaving home, but sometimes she regretted it for a second because of two reasons; one, her new partner and his talking cat have been breaking into her house pretty much every night and eating her out of house and home; and two, she sometimes found the energy of the guild to be a bit too much compared to her quiet life back in her father's mansion The thought only made it more appealing to her, imagining her father fuming at her having a good time with new friends instead of suffering in the empty atmosphere under his eye.

While she was thinking about this during Mira's explanation of the guild system Natsu, the aforementioned partner, and his talking cat son Happy, snuck up on her in attempt to spook her. "BOO!" After she calms down, she then punches the two of them in the face. As she starts to yell at them for annoying her, Loke runs and frantically yells, "Erza is coming!"

After a pregnant pause, the entire guild starts freaking out and frantically tries to start cleaning up the guildhall. Lucy looked around nervously at the fear that everyone had at just hearing her name and imagined a giant woman with draconic features spitting out fire at everyone. 'Nah, she's not a dragon like Natsu.' As she was ruminating on what she must have been like, the doors to the guild hall explode open, revealing the red-haired weaponmaster of Fairy Tail and its (currently) undisputable strongest woman, Erza Scarlet aka 'Titania.'

As Erza began to criticize the complaints she's heard about them, Lucy was entranced by the swordswoman's natural beauty and was simply staring at her until she realized Erza was talking to her.

"So you're the new member Natsu brought into the guild, nice to meet you. My name is Erza, I hope I didn't unnerve you," Erza humbly said.

In response, Lucy's brain only had one thing running through her head: 'OH MY GOD A BEAUTIFUL GIRL IS TALKING TO ME!'

While Erza stared at her confusedly, Lucy fortunately managed to gather up enough particles to form a sentence. Unfortunately, she didn't hear what Erza said and just blurted out her first words.

"You're really hot."

…

Everyone else in the guild swore their ears were smashed by the bluntness of Lucy's words. No one had ever tried to hit on Erza except for Leo, and that ended up with him in tears. As everyone else was staring wide-eyed at her, Lucy realized what she said and began frantically searching for a way out of this situation - until Erza started laughing.

It started off slow, until it eventually grew so hard Erza's eye started tearing up. As Lucy and everyone else stared at her until she eventually calmed down, just as Lucy was about to get so red of embarrassment, she was sure she'd be hotter than Natsu's flame.

"Amazing! I can definitely see that Natsu brought you into the guild for your spirit. While I am flattered, I'm not currently on the lookout for a relationship, but I would gladly like to know more about you some other time," Erza said with a casual smile on her face before it hardened and she looked at Gray and Natsu seriously "Gray, Natsu, I need your help on a mission."

After the water sphere incident a week ago, the two groups decided to travel together to Magnolia together and join the Fairy Tail guild together. The boys gave them their backstory of being orphans from a village in the Forsaken Realm and about their dream of being the Wizard King. Asta also showed off his five-leafed grimoire and the two swords inside of it, the giant broadsword and the other one of a much more normal size. He displayed how the big sword reflects magic, the small one absorbs magic, and both can nullify magic that they cut through. He embarrassingly explained that he figured out those powers completely on accident because he interrupted Yuno's training. Twice.

While traveling, the group got to bond a lot, especially Asta and the girls. He would tell them all about his intense training he did and about the orphanage back at his home, which the girls found quite interesting because of their well-off background. On their travels, Asta ran into a merchant selling robes that he thought were cool and got 4 of them, 2 gold for Yuno and Mimosa, and one black for him and Noelle. When asked why he picked the colors for them he stated, "I thought they looked really cool on me and Yuno, and that they would look really pretty on you two." He also got a magic wand for Noelle as a way for her to focus magic. These actions caused them both to blush and begin stammering, much to Asta's confusion, and then shock once he realized that was the last of his share of the jewels that the village saved up for him and Yuno.

As they eventually end up in Oshibana Station as the final stop right before Magnolia, Asta hurries to the bathroom while the rest wait for him to finish taking a dump (hopefully they don't have to deal with any more toilet problems when they reach Fairy Tail). While waiting for Asta, Mimosa and Noelle are by themselves and start a private conversation.

"Hey Noelle," Mimosa nervously begins while twiddling her fingers, "I have a problem and I need your help."

"What is it?" Noelle asks. Mimosa mumbles out an answer to which Noelle says, "can you speak up, I can't hear you." Mimosa then takes a deep breath to build up her courage before saying in one rushed sentence "It'saboutAstaI'mprettysureI'minlovewithhimbutIdon'tknow whattodoaboutit!"

Noelle takes a second to figure out Mimosa's sentence(?) before realizing what she said and freaks out.

"You're in love with him?!" She exclaims in an excited yet hushed tone, "Why that short, stupid, loud, back-country, frustratingly charming, annoyingly endearing, reliable, hunk of stupid muscles…" Noelle begins to trail off as she realizes the words she's saying and how desperate she sounds to hate him.

"Yes, all of that, it's part of his appeal, all of that life in such a modest body," Mimosa dreamily replies before realizing what Noelle said about him. "Wait, does that mean you're also in to him Noelle?" She asks.

"What, no I mean there's no way I mean how could I, a noble of House Silva, be in love with him?!" Noelle vehemently denies, before Mimosa's next words stop her in her tracks.

"Why do you still care about the dumb rules of your family?"

As Noelle stared at Mimosa, trying to figure out how to respond to her, suddenly the station's alarms blaring loudly. People began to loudly flee the station as guards also started storming towards, much to the confusion of the three mages, until the entrance exploded, revealing a large group of mages lead by one with silver hair floating on a scythe.

"Ladies and gentlemen, if you would be so nice as to please leave the station, as me and my friends here have now taken control of this place," Erigor, the grim reaper looking man said, "Otherwise, you will look like these men back here." He points backward to the soldiers laid out across the floor behind him.

The fear of the civilians only increased as they flee, pushing over each other as they flood out the building. Our three mages, however, realize that Asta is still in the bathroom, and refusing to leave him behind, rush to find the bathroom he's in, hoping to help him escape.

As Asta is finishing his business, he is about to open the door before it slams backwards, squashing him into the wall.

"Asta, where are you?!" Noelle yells out looking for Asta until she hears a muffled voice behind the door. "Oh, there you are."

"What the hell guys," Asta groggily says as the door's being pulled off him, "You're acting like someone's attacking the station."

"That's because there are people attacking the station!" Noelle exasperatedly yells at him.

Asta's eyes widen at this, before he smiles while pulling out his giant sword and saying, "Why didn't you just say so?"

Lucy did not wake up today thinking that she would have to fight an entire dark guild without Natsu by her side, but Erza's presence definitely helped alleviate that (and technically happy). While Erza was wiping out waves of Eisenwald dark mages and Lucy sent out Cancer to take care of some, even getting in on the action with her signature 'Lucy Kick' (she thought it sounded cool), but eventually her luck was bound to run out in her first big brawl.

While she was distracted by Erza fighting in her Heaven's Wheel armor (Happy was right, it did look really beautiful when she cut people), a goon had snuck behind her with a sword aimed at her back. Happy noticed and called out, "Lucy, look out!"

Lucy turned with a terrified look on her face towards her attacker, but before the attack lands, a gust of green wind shouts out and blows him away, making a crater in the wall. Everyone looks around, confused at who else used wind magic besides Erigor. That's when they heard loud voice call out, "Hey, you guys need some help!"

Everyone turned to see Asta, Yuno, Noelle, and Mimosa, all with their grimoires open and prepared for battle.

"Because I'm sure as hell ready to bust some heads!"

I was gonna try and get the whole Eisenwald arc done in one chapter, but this seemed like a good place to stop. Next chapter we'll finish up the first arc of this story, and finally get to see our two casts first interactions, especially Asta and Natsu, those two idiots will be fun to write for.

In the future I'm gonna use the end of chapter just to vent my feelings about whatever, whether that be a new game I'm playing, new chapters of manga I'm reading, or something weird in my life.

Today I'm just gonna say read God of Highschool, it's my favorite story ever made.
