Chapter 4
Hinata washed her face with cool water in a futile attempt to dispel her blush.
Ino-chan is so mean sometimes. Thought the Hyuuga as she acknowledges her weakness when it comes to the physical aspect of intimacy.
Hard may she try; she just cannot shake the shyness that overcomes her when thinking about it. Not that she was all that clueless or innocent, but she was raised to be a proper prim young lady.
She shook her head and took a deep breath, after all she had a job to do and as Ino previously said a group of new shinobi to educate.
I do not break them in rough! she thought scowling at Ino's harsh assessment.
Walking down the corridor she found a congregation of shinobi in standard uniform; green vests, black pants and sandals. The only one who stood out was the raven-haired man leaning against the wall, arms crossed over a black shirt that probably had the Uchiha emblem proudly displayed on its back.
Seems Sasuke-san will be observing today.
He greeted her with a simple nod and she responded with a small smile, glad that she felt more comfortable around the intimidating warrior day after day. Although their interactions had been minimal, they were always amicable.
Straightening her posture and tilting her head slightly up, she took one last deep breath before clearing her throat and addressing the small group.
"Good morning everyone, my name is Hyuuga Hinata and I will be your instructor for the day." The kunoichi said with an unwavering voice.
All those meetings representing her clan's interests in foreign lands seems to be paying off, as she no longer felt intimidated by public speaking.
Some of the shinobi present seemed to pay attention to the pretty medic in front of them while other barely suppressed a groan, their only reason for being here was because they were too afraid to skip especially since the commander of the Anbu force was for some reason in charge of this assignment.
"I guess we will be babysitting today" Whispered a shinobi to his friend as he took the sweet demeanor of their instructor, assuming (like a certain Uchiha did previously) that she treated kids.
Hinata's eyes sparkled with mischief as she caught the comment.
Ino-chan was right, this batch needs a rough break-in.
"Unfortunately, Pediatrics is way above your level right now. And I do not believe you'll be able to handle such a hard specialty at the moment" Hinata answered with a smile at the flustered demeanor of the shinobi once he concluded she overheard him.
"Might I also suggest not saying that to Shizune-san's face as she might take offence" Her smile widened a fraction as his face blanched. For although, Shizune wasn't as renown as Sakura Haruno she was still Tsunade's apprentices and probably shared the same temperament when angry. Hinata refrained from correcting that assumption.
Sasuke smirked from his position against the wall.
Seems the show is about to begin. He thought with amusement.
"My specialty is more aligned with the goals of this program. Today we will be going over some medical basics that'll help you either save a comrade's life or prolong a fight until back up arrives." She continued "Now, follow me."
She led the way without checking if they were following as Sasuke joined her at the front. They walked in a comfortable silence until they reached a double door, stopping for everyone to gather.
"Welcome to the Emergency Room, more commonly referred to as the ER" she pushed the doors and stepped into her happy place.
It was in one word chaotic.
Medics and nurses running everywhere. The beeping of machines and the green glow of the mystical palm filled the space.
None of the shinobi present could've known that the ER was actually working efficiently and that this scene is considered mild compared to others.
Organized chaos was the norm here.
Hinata loved it.
Nothing can take her mind of off her troubles like this environment can.
"As you can see it is a bit crowded here, please try not to get in the way of the staff as every second counts to save someone's life" Hinata said, it seems her sister's flare for the dramatics was rubbing on her.
She made her way to the nurse's station greeting the nurse in charge with a pleasant smile. She was one of her favorites; nice and very good at her job.
"What do you have for me Akane-san?" She asked, hoping for a case that meets her needs for teaching. She decided to begin with a hands-on approach for this particular group.
"I haaave a crush injury on a civilian…. A second degree burn on a baker and a dislocated shoulder on a drunk. Take your pick." The nurse answered aligning the charts on the counter "fair warning though the drunk is a sexist pig!" she continued scowling at the third chart.
Hinata's smile fell "What happened?"
"He kept calling me sexy little nurse and grabbed my ass"Akane huffed.
"I'll take the dislocated shoulder" Hinata's simmering anger not reaching her face. It seems she will be teaching more than one lesson today.
"As you wish. Oh Hyuuga-san , there's also a girl with heart palpitations in room 4. Mind taking a look before I find you another case for you to teach on?"
"Of course" She picked up both files and motioned for the group to follow her.
This should be interesting. Thought Sasuke as he took his usual place against the wall.
Nothing was more entertaining than a pissed off Hyuuga princess defending someone.
She moved to stand before the man who was slumped on the bed, reeking of alcohol as the rest of the group filled in.
"Hello Riko-san, I will be your medic for the day. Do you mind if those guys observe? I'm obligated to teach them" Her smile so sweet you would never know she was picturing cutting this man's hand of for daring to touch her favorite nurse.
Riko raised his head to look at the girl in front of him, she appeared to be a couple of years younger than him, and she was well….smoking hot and she was smiling for him. Maybe he'll finally get lucky tonight( he didn't notice it was daytime) He gave what he considered to be a seductive smile.
"Anything for you doll. Now what's a place like you doing in a girl like this."
"I help upstanding citizen such as yourself" Her smile not faltering "it says here that you dislocated your right shoulder, what happened exactly?"
"I got into a fight at the bar with some dude because his woman couldn't take a compliment" Riko answered rolling his eyes "Women such as yourself pretty little doll should know when they look this good, am I right fellas?" He finished with a laugh
No one joined him.
Sasuke kept monitoring Hinata's facial expression curious about how she'll handle this drunken fool. It didn't even cross his mind to intervene, for she had that look in her eyes that said; go ahead test my patience, see what happens.
He almost expected her to hit him with a Juken in the face.
No that's not really her style
All Hinata did was continue smiling before facing the group of chunin who kept silent, since their instructor didn't seem bothered at the least with the man's attention.
" When on a mission you might find yourself in a situation where you need to continue fighting despite getting injured. A dislocated limb is an easy fix especially if you have a teammate to set it back for you" The Hyuuga said now once again in lecture mode.
Sasuke noticed from the corner of his eye that the drunk man was leering at the medic's ass and was about to lunge to grab it.
The Uchiha twitched slightly just as Hinata took a set out of the other man's range.
He was starting to get annoyed.
"When set back, you should be able to regain 60 percent of your limb's function which can make a difference between life and death in some situations. And with adrenaline coursing through your veins the pain should be dulled enough to continue fighting." The medic continued speaking as if she wasn't being harassed.
Sasuke doubted that she wasn't aware of what almost happened, she was probably biding her time.
"There are two ways to do it, I'll be showing you the classical approach for those with minimal medical training" She faced her patient with that oh so familiar smile, who was disarmed instantly not noticing the vindictiveness in her eyes.
"Riko-san do I have your consent to do it without pain medication for the sake of authenticity?" The Kunoichi continued smiling "As you know consent is very important, and I doubt such a virile and strong looking man like you can't deal with a little discomfort"'
Huh, so that how she wants to play it. Who knew the Hyuuga was so vindictive?
Sasuke smirked as the fool puffed his chest, falling completely for the innocent act and ego stroking.
"I doubt you can even hurt a fly, little doll"
"Wonderful!" She positioned herself beside his right hand "now when setting a dislocated shoulder there are two steps; the pull and the pop"
Hinata pulled not so gently at the man's arm who immediately screamed and then let go of it as it hung now completely out of its socket.
She turned to the group; some were cringing, other had wide horrified eyes.
"You saw how the motion was done, don't be afraid to pull with the necessary force" seemingly ignoring the crying man behind her
"And then all you have to do is pull it back" She ignored his pleas to stop "and pop it back in"
All the chunins winced at the sound that the bones made.
Hinata then put his arm in a sling, and finally addressed the weeping man
"Now that wasn't so bad was it?" She turned around and handed him a box of pills
"Medication for the pain" Hinata smiled "A piece of advice: You should really ask permission before touching someone, it'll a save you from having a dislocated shoulder or a broken arm or maybe even an amputated hand."
Sasuke suppressed a grin at the terrified looks on both the man and the shinobis.
"Have a lovely day!" Finished the indigo-haired medic cheerfully as the man all but ran.
The room was eerily quite for a few minutes. Hinata winced mentally. Maybe I overdid it.
"This maneuver should be done quickly and in one motion…for minimal pain. I did it step by step so you may understand easily" She blushed sheepishly "One of you will try it on the next patient…With sedation of course"
Sasuke took in all the different looks of the group: they ranged from respect, awe, fear to arousal.
He couldn't technically blame them. There was something extremely attractive about the violence displayed by the Hyuuga princess.
Once he gave the shinobis time to recover. He pushed of the wall.
"Should we move on to the next one." It was more of a statement than a request.
She jumped slightly "Yes! Let's go to room 4" Once she shook off her embarrassment "This one isn't really on the agenda today but it won't hurt to observe. It'll be quick, until Akane-san finds us a good case to study on"
Sasuke once again joined her at the front, looking at her from his periphery he could see she was slightly regretting her treatment of the grabby asshole. She shouldn't really.
If it were up to him, Sasuke would've probably broken his other arm too.
There was nothing he hated more than assholes who harassed women.
Lost in his thoughts he didn't noticed they arrived to their destination. The group entered one by one to find a girl about Hinata's age swinging her legs on the bed bored.
Once she saw him, she straightened up and brought her hand to her chest.
"Hi I'm your medic for the day. What seems to be the problem?"
The girl completely ignored the kunoichi, turning to him "My heart is beating so fast and I'm feeling flushed, maybe Sasuke-kun can give me an exam" She said batting her eyelashes
Sasuke cringed internally. Great a fangirl.
"I'm afraid Uchiha-san is not a medic, however I'll take a listen" The Hyuuga answered taking off her stethoscope and examining the girl even though she kept moving trying to get a good look at Sasuke
"Everything seems in order, you're probably just under a bit of stress. You may go, I'll have the nurse give you a calming herbal tea" Hinata said blocking her view, annoyed at the situation.
"Now listen here, I said I'd like Sasuke-kun.."The girl stopped talking once she saw the medic's face.
Hinata cut quite the terrifying figure, Byakugan activated, icy eyes not amused.
"I can see your heart beating normally. Nothing is wrong with it" The Hyuuga continued with a whisper, her voice soft but carrying through the silent room "Leave. Now"
Sasuke could clearly see that the kunoichi was suppressing her anger again. I wonder why?
No one paid attention to the fleeing fake patient.
Hinata slowly turned around facing the chunins and walked towards one of them. Byakugan still activated.
"What's your name?" She asked
"K-Kai, Hyuuga-sama"He managed to stutter out, his sweat dropping.
"Kai-san , there are two chunins stationed on the roof of the hospital. Do you mind fetching them for me? Tell them the medic in charge of the ER wants a word" She spoke with the same soft voice still filled with authority.
"Yes, Hyuuga-sama" Kai straightened before going to execute her order, because although it was phrased as a request it was definitely an order. Especially since the Uchiha who outranked them all didn't intervene.
"Can we have the room please" The blue-haired kunoichi asked as she deactivated her Dojutsu.
No need to frighten anyone. It was a bit late for that.
As the room emptied, she made her way towards the bed and hopped on it. Whether she was unaware of Sasuke's eyes following her or simply decided not to pay attention to him at the moment wasn't clear.
The raven-haired shinobi retreated to an obscured corner of the room and suppressed his chakra. Curious about what the princess had in store.
He had a feeling it was best to conceal himself and observe for now.
Two bored shinobi dressed in standard uniforms walked in a few minutes later.
"You needed something?" one of them asked not thrilled of being brought here.
"Yes. We had a breach of security. Again. This is the fourth one this week." The girl said with a polite quirk of her lips.
"It's not as easy as it seems" answered the other getting defensive.
"hmm. Maybe it will be easier if you spent more time paying attention and less time playing cards on the roof" She said
Ahh. So that's why.
"How did you…" The first trailed off as he took a good look at the medic, she was a Hyuuga. He swallowed hoping he was wrong about which Hyuuga was addressing him.
"I of course am not part of your team for this mission, and there for have no authority on your actions" The Hyuuga continued as if she wasn't interrupted
"However, I am the one who commissioned you for this task, this makes me your client." She hopped off the bed and walked towards them " You have jeopardized the safety and comfort of my staff"
Both shinobi stood still , sweat dropping as they seemed to realize the gravity of the situation.
"Now as I see it, we have two options; you can either take your mission more seriously and do your job or I can inform the Hokage about your incapacity to complete a simple C-rank mission and get you taken out of the active mission roster" She said faking a frown "it's a shame really, since there are rumors about promotions coming soon. Either way, the choice is yours." the Hyuuga finished with a smile
"i-i..N-no..Hyuuga-san. It won't happen again" Stammered one of them
"Good. Then we have an agreement" Hinata answered looking at the group of curious chunins watching the scene from outside.
After a few moments of awkward silence, the shinobi concluded they were dismissed and hastily left.
Sasuke lost his battle against his smirk, he came out of his hiding place.
"Would Naruto even go as far as taking them out of the mission roster" He said startling her. She seemed to have forgotten he was there.
"No. But they don't know that."
"I didn't know you were worried about me Hyuuga" His smirk widened.
"I take the wellbeing of all that work or are here seriously. I will not have anyone get harassed. You are also under my protection." Hinata answered automatically before remembering who she was talking to "i-I m-mean not that you need my protection or a-anyhting. Y-you are you. M-most people need protection from you"
Sasuke raised one eyebrow amused by her babbling
"N-not that you would do anything b-bad. Most people are already intimidated by y-your anbu s-status…"She trailed off, her cheeks flaming at her blunder.
Sasuke stopped walking once he faced her, hands in his pockets.
She was just adorable.
"Anbu status huh? You don't seem to need it to do your share of intimidation" He said as she raised her head confused."One can even say you used the standard Anbu intimidation techniques"
" I-i don't know what you're talking about" mumbled Hinata, looking at the ground again.
"Let's see. You started by showing this group of morons that you are not someone to be trifled with , when you treated that drunk" Sasuke smirked as her cheeks continued to glow "then you used your Byakugan to remind them that you are a ninja in your own right. Just because you wear scrubs doesn't mean you're any less threatening. And finally, you let them see your authority over two of their comrades who did look like they were about to piss themselves. Asserting dominance at its fines.t"
He waited for her to get her blush under control.
"So Hyuuga, should I be concerned that Neji might be leaking s-class information to his little cousin?" Sasuke continued teasing her, knowing how fiercely she protected her big brother.
"The Anbu department clearly stole those techniques from various clans. These are standard leadership techniques that can be found even in the public library" The Hyuuga tilted her head up again, he was after all taller than her.
"Hn"
"Plus when you are young and look like me; meaning.." Hinata continued
"As threatening as a bunny" he interrupted, amused by her fleeting look of indignation.
" A certain amount of fear is necessary to earn their respect" She finished, her cheeks regaining that pink hue once she noticed he was looking at her intently.
"well played" Sasuke smirked
"Come, we still have a class to teach" He walked past her, putting his hand on her head as he did so. Her blush only intensified more at the gesture
"And do try not to terrorize any more innocents" Sasuke said his back to her.
All he heard was a small "Eep" and the sound of her hurried footsteps behind him.
Absolutely adorable.
AN: i couldn't help myself , i had to make hinata kinda badass behind her innocent demeanor. what can i say i like my heroines smart and a little sneaky.
