"What're the chances Eda and Oum will have destroyed something?" Bee asked Raine as he drove them and their granddaughter to Willow Bark mall. Said granddaughter was looking at the window of the car, taking in the sights of a California Summer.

"Hmmm…." The former Bard head, recalling Willow's reaction to learning 'the great indoor shopping place' was named after her, postulated. "Well, Eda did bring some Apple-Blood…"

"Ah, so 50-50." Bee guessed.

"Honestly? I think they'll just glare at each other and drink themselves silly. Even if they do scrape, nothing we can't fix." Raine continued.

Bee kept a thought to himself; the last time his wife and Eda had had a few drinks together….That thought was put aside when he spied a parking spot and drove the car in.

"In a way, I'm…grateful for their rivalry." Raine confessed. "Never realty had many friends aside from Eda…which I'm not complaining about! But…it is nice to spend some time with another full-on music fan."

"Even if most of my favorite music comes from videogames and anime?" Bee asked.

"Anime?" Ami called out, excitement clear.

"Sorry sweetheart, nothing yet." Bee called out. "But if you see one you like at the mall….?"

The one-year-old, seemingly satisfied with this, returned to watching the scenary…which was not nearly as fun as when the car was in motion, but her grandparents were moving to get out, so she could be patient.

"To answer your question; yes." Raine smiled, delighting in Oum's shocked look. "While their may be some merit in the critics of it, Bard magic is all about using ANY kind of music for any reason. Sides, as the other parent of the Owlet and lover of the Owl Lady, there is a sort or….expertise and expectation set on me."

"And you're getting to be okay with that?" Bee asked.

"Hey, as long as I don't have to give lectures!" Raine joked, getting a chuckle out of the two as they got out the car.

"…Oh no." Bee realized as soon as he stepped out. "I left the stroller and carrier at home! Abort mission! ABORT MISSION!"

"Bee, they have strollers inside." Raine reminded the Thai man as they cradled Ami in their arms.

"…Oh. Right. Forgot." Bee sheepshily chuckled as Raine rolled their eyes.

"Grandpa's silly, isn't he Ami?"

The toddler just giggled and waved to Bee, who motioned his best 'Boiling Isles' friend to lead them in, Ami already squirming and reaching for the door as another realization came to the duo:

"…Whew, what're Anne and Ollie feeding her?" Raine asked, grateful when Oum took Ami.

Paying $1 for the stroller, the trio made their way inside, their one certain stop being Sunrise Records, which was a bit of a walk away. Otherwise, Bee and Raine were content to just walk around, beaming with pride at any cooing onlooker Ami got.

Bee was delighted; remembering walking with Anne when she had been a baby; her curosoity, her rambunctious nature…the fact she escaped her stroller to wonder into the toy shop (which he never told Oum about) and her first ice cream cone.

While Bee was down memory line, Raine was imaging what could've been. They'd always felt a little saddened they'd missed out on Olivier's childhood; they still recalled the one picnic he's snuck into when he was about Ami's age now; his beaming smile, adoration of his mommy and enthrallment in the music. And sure, Olivier still considering them his 'Rad'….and according to Eda, had considered them the only person worthy of his mother…

But it still filled them with sadness, knowing they'd missed out on Olivier's first words, first spell, meeting Willow, Amity and Luz. Titan, even 'the incident'….And of course, Anne and the events in and around Amphibia.

Now, it wasn't too late for them and Eda to try for a child, in all honesty. Given Eda's track record of raising/adopting kids, there was no doubt any child they had would not only be adored but powerful. And while the idea was intriguing? Well, with Ami and their careers and lives truly taking off? They were okay for now.

"Bue!" Ami called out, spying a little boy walking by with a balloon. "A Balloon!"

"Oh, you want a balloon?" Raine guessed, stepping forward with a smile with a $50 already drawn. "Grad's got it!"

"…Grad?" Bee asked.

"Grand Rad." Raine explained. "Come on, that's obvious."

A few minutes later, Ami was delighting in her ocean blue balloon, when something else got her eye:

"Teddy!"

The baby was pointing at 'Construct a Carnivore', which seemed to be having a special on winged creatures.

"You want a new teddy?" Bee smiled, picking her out of the cradle. "Grandpa's got this one!"

"Have fun you two!" Raine beamed as they decided to head to the record/movie shop in the meantime.

Ami happily played with her creation: a creature with the ears of a cat, snout of a snake, wings of a falcon, a wolf's tail, body of a penguin and feet of a chameleon.

Bee had snapped a picture of the toy and forwarded it to his daughter, who adored the picture. Olivier then responded in kind on his phone, pride in his baby girl's work. He then forwarded the picture to Luz, Amity and Gus, who all saw bits of their Palisman in the baby's creation.

Bee and Raine had found several CDs at a good price, with Bee explaining the lore behind several of the games some had come from.

Raine had also listened to a bit of the soundtrack of something called 'Wicked'; a prequel to one of humanity's greatest movies. The songs were okay, but the story seemed to try too hard to make certain things flow when even the Bard knew that probably wasn't what happened. Still, they made a note to maybe get one of two songs online later; run by Eda.

Ami didn't seem to find anything of interest at the shop this time; so, with some more money in their budget, Bee and Raine splurged on two collection DVDS; a few Thai Rom-Coms Oum had always wanted to see and a few comedians for Eda.

"That should help soothe things over." Bee smiled hopefully.

By now, it was dinner time, and the trio were in line for some quick burgers and shakes.

"Oh, no worries." The cashier said, suddenly declined Bee's card and pointing to the side. "She offered to pay."

Bee and Oum looked over to see a young blonde woman with a small scar and beauty mark, wearing a trench coat, shades and dress.

"Sup, Mr. B? Raine?" She smirked, delighted at their shock.

"Sasha!" Bee beamed, giving the girl a hug. "Its been a while! How're you?"

"Pretty good; just got a space for my office here." Sasha Waybright beamed. "Been organizing all day, figured I'd grab a quick bite…"

She the looked down and kneeled at the cradle, getting the baby's attention.

"And then I spied you two with this little cutie."

"Asha! Asha!" Ami beamed, reaching for the blonde

"Hey, sweetie!" Sasha smiled, nuzzling Ami's nose and pecking her forehead. "Look at you, getting so big! And is that a new monster?"

Ami nodded, growling for her toy. Sasha playfully growled back and snuck in a little tickle before she turned her attention back to the grandparents.

"She'll be a real heartbreaker when she grows up."

"Just like her parents." The adults all mused.

"Say, where are those two, anways?" Sasha mused, glancing around before realizing. "You two babysitting?"

Bee nodded.

"Well, us and Eda and Oum." Raine smiled, getting a hug from Sasha.

"And by that you mean…?" Sasha guessed, getting a nod and chuckling.

Eda Clawthorne was, much like she was to Luz, Sasha's heroine; sassy, bold, proud and able to flaunt her good looks and be respected as a leader in her field….But unlike Mrs. Boonchuy, Eda was more of a free spirit.

"Anne and Ollie have conferences at the Hilton this week." Bee explained.

"Oh yeah!" Sasha realized, lightly smacking her forehead. "There's a seminar I want to go to tomorrow; I almost forgot!"

Just then, their orders came up.

"Would you like to join us?" Raine asked.

"Hey, I could never say no to a little more time with you guys and Ami." Sasha smiled.

And thus, with a meal and good company, Ami's first day with her grandparents came to an end.

OWLPHIBIA

Ami was sound asleep when Bee and Raine came home. They found Eda asleep on the couch with an empty bottle of Apple Blood and Oum in what used to be her 'workout room'; she'd converted it into an 'Ami and Anne' room.

Raine gently tucked Ami into her crib and tucked in with Eda, while Bee picked up his wife and took her to bed, tucking in with her as well.

One day down, six to go.

To be continued…

A nice, sweet chapter with Bee and Raine having fun with their granddaughter and each other. Nothing too exciting and for that I do apologize, but this was in my mind and I honestly feel Bee deserved a little praise.

Bet no one was expecting Sasha, am I right? A little bit that came to me as well.

And yes, I did sneak in a 'Wicked' reference, couldn't help it. I have not yet seen the movie, so if you feel I was being harsh in how Raine/Eda would feel about it, feel free to correct me.

And in case any of you are wondering about what happened the last time Eda and Oum drank? Refer to Owlphibia Brought toa Boil chapter 17.

Next time, Oum decides to have a beach day with Ami and Eda decides to spice it up.

Again, if you have suggestions for how Luz and co can get in on this? Let me know in the reviews!

Until then? Stay safe and warm!
