Justice Across Space and Time: Year 2

Chapter 19

Now for a few side stories and set ups for larger arcs. Namely a few big ones that will lead to the eventual New My Villian Academia. After all, with the actual end of the series coming up I should be getting down to business on this tale. Just need to put the dominos in place and hope it's a better end compared to the first JAST. On with the show.

(No POV)

In a section not too far from the Endeavor Agency, various villains were causing some chaos. Started by one villain trying to tear apart the company he used to work for, by using his quirk that gave him power while he was embarrassed.

But his rampage was cut short, thanks to a quick blast of unseen energy to his side. The result of Hosino Kazuhiko or Airwave's radio wave cannon. "Impressive young man. I can see why Hawks has taken as much of a shine to you as he has." Endeavor himself says. While dragging two other villains behind him that he had captured.

Kazuhiko let out a strained chuckled and admitted that Endeavor still got more villains. "Maybe so, but I think you need to reign it in a bit more man. You did a lot of damage to….. what's that smell?" Nobasu said while reforming behind the pair. And also noticing an unsettling smell coming from Endeavor.

Who coughs a little before saying they had to take the villains to the police. Subtly taking out a bottle of water to take a quick drink from. And then eating a few breath mints. Though he does stumble a little while handing over the goons to the cops. "Sorry. Just a little dehydrated," he said, and a news station noted as a report came on at a TV shop as John was walking by.

"Huh. Has he been having issues for a while?" he asked the dark duo of UA. Tokoyami looked back a slightly smiled at the sight of Kazuhiko outpacing even his mentor Hawks. Before acknowledging Endeavor had seemed a little imbalanced as of late. "I'm not sure what's caused it, but he's been a bit more reckless and somewhat destructive compared to his usual self."

"Indeed. Tis as if he's been possessed or hath lost the restraint he once had." Kuroiro noted with an uneasy gaze. John hummed before shaking his head and focusing on the matter at hand. "So, who is this Odd-Eye character? I know I'm not big on your world's heroics, but I still haven't found much on him."

The dark duo hummed before admitting that they mostly knew rumors. "Mayhaps that is what our likely dark hero summoner intends. Agreed, he likely loves the feeling of being betwixt the realms of understanding from the public. And uses that to take the true dark foes off guard."

Justice had a painfully flat look on his face listening to all of the flowery speech the duo were spouting while making their way to Odd-Eye's agency. 'Or lair, or whatever cringy thing this nut probably came up with.' John thinks before saying, "In other words, he likes the feeling of being known but unknown because it plays into his childish fantasies. Which I acknowledge is ironic considering what we all do."

Tokoyami stops short and coughs upon the large hero saying that but doesn't disagree. Kuroiro though face faults a little before asking if Justice was in any place to really talk. "I just acknowledged the irony. Especially given I wear black for my uniform colors. Let's just get this over with," he said with a sigh.

And his annoyance grows upon arrival at the agency, with an almost obnoxiously ornate door upon it. "So, the chosen ones have come. With an imposing existence among you. I go by Odd-Eye within this realm." The hero then goes upon a spiel about heroes and the darkness each may hold in their memories and pasts.

"Oh, shut up you dimwitted manchild douche. You don't even know the first thing about other realms or worlds. You know little more than what you believe of the matter. And trust me, you know absolutely nothing about darkness trust me on that." Justice says with a bit of anger.

Odd-Eye's face drops before saying, "let us see if you truly know about darkness!" He rushes forward and puts his hand on John's head. "My quirk Mind Reaper let's me probe into the darkness of those I touch. Showing it to all and…. revealing…. What?!"

The hero's face falls even more as John was not revealing any of the past cringy things or anything like that in his past to demonstrate Odd-Eye's power. "Your mental barriers are still impressive our titanous friend. To think you can easily shrug off even his power." Vantablack said from the side he had ducked off toward.

"Indeed. I think I can see how such a skill would be useful. Though cannot Odd-Eye reveal the matters and history himself?" Tsukoyomi said while watching in trepidation. And the hero has a look that says he's trying but failing miserably. "It's as if I'm attempting to burrow through a wall many miles thick. I cannot see anything!" he shouts in frustration.

Justice swats his hand away before saying, "trust me, you couldn't even begin to handle what is all up here if you did try. There's no way you'd stay sane. And frankly I don't feel like entertaining an idiot any longer." As he turns to walk away, the Edgelord Hero asks him to stop.

He lets out a sigh before dropping some of his face and persona to be serious. "I will speak a bit briefly on this matter. A reason I wished to peer within was to find some weakness to exploit. After all, it is not as if you couldn't be turned against us." Justice was surprised by the more rational side this tool (as he saw him) had. He looked toward Tokoyami and thought back on the Training Camp and how even with his barriers, a telepath managed to get through.

'I've made them stronger since then, but still….. if they don't have someone like Izuku, Itsuka, and especially if they don't have Sahiraah, they won't stand a chance,' he thought with a slight sigh. He decided to throw the hero a bone and was willing to list a few of his weaknesses. "Hopefully, we never need such a weapon. But I thank you for providing the means to stop you." Odd-Eye says with a slight bow directed Justice's way.

"Hey, I'm just curious, what would happen if he could see inside your head?" a sidekick asked from behind his odd mask. The dark duo also gave John a look as if to say they were curious as well. And even if he did not voice the matter, the big hero of another world could tell Odd-Eye wanted to know as well.

John let out a breath before asking if there were other heroes could take care of the area the man patrolled and if they could take over for a while. "Because frankly, if you did get inside my head…. there is a good chance you might die or end up catatonic," he warned with a cocked eyebrow.

A large smile grows on Odd-Eye's face and he starts laughing at the thought of such a challenge. "Also he does it when he's actually really scared. So, hopefully he won't, and he's gone," a sidekick says as Odd-Eye rushed John again. Placing his hand on Justice's large chest, he started to probe into the hero's mind again.

And instead of the large walls he faced before, he could feel/see the barriers breaking down. Then saw the light of the past within. His smile on in the outside world growing as he made his way in.

Only for it to quickly drop upon being bombarded by the memories and past that Justice actually had. After all, he had assumed that John was only a teenager and only had maybe a decade's worth of memories to work through. But he is over a thousand years old. And Odd-Eye's mind was currently being flooded with all of the experience and knowledge the man had gained in that time.

The pro hero cackled as his eyes rolled back in his head and his mouth started to froth. Passing out in only a few seconds. "Perhaps you could have warned him about that?" Tokoyami said as they were making their way back to UA.

"Yeah, I guess I should have. He was just frustrating me with all of that stuff and trying to make a big deal out of his mystique when…. Well frankly he has none. And no offence man, but neither do either of you." John said with a minor shrug.

Tokoyami hums and then agrees. Noting, "I may be a true edgelord, but that really doesn't compare to one such as you. You have truly experienced darkness. In more than one way. We just…."

"Act like we are apart of it. Because it plays into our appearance, quirks, or just our personality." Kuroiro finishes while acknowledging the reality. He then asks if Odd-Eye would ever be sane again. And Justice can only shrug at what had happened. While the hero himself could mutter out some words while drooling. Namely: "daughter. Another dimension. Greater evil. Power beyond belief."

Before all of this, a number of other students had gone out on various Team Up Missions as well. Shoto, along with Kaminari and two from Shiketsu were heading to meet with a crusty hero to grow their skills. Melissa worked with Hatsume to develop a number of tools, and even a new special armor for emergencies.

But a major Team Up Mission was one being taken by Ojiro, Itsuka, and Toru. Who were on their way to the Terakoya Hero School. On an island near Okinawa, the little school for kids looking to be heroes eventually overlooked the sea.

"Heck of a view these kids have. But I wonder why they wanted us to come." Itsuka said while making their way up to the school in their hero costumes. After returning from Correya Town, she'd had her costume modified. Not only with more armor to protect her body, but also she'd had Melissa modify the gadget gauntlets to a thinner form. And a new belt with all kinds of gear in the various pouches and other sections. Plus a few hidden tools for just in case.

Ojiro shrugged and said, "not sure. We're supposed to give a lecture about heroics. But why us?" While he was saying that he adjusted a few of his own new additions to his costume. Namely he'd gotten some new gauntlets as well. Though not gadget lined, he went for more protection of his limbs and something special Sahiraah had suggested.

Portions of his gear were lined with metals and fabrics that would let him channel ki easier. And underneath his gi, he had a defensive chain mail shirt to better cover himself. Toru meanwhile was pouting a little. "You two's gear looks so cool. As much as I like my quirk, I wish I could do more with it," she said while walking ahead of the pair.

And she missed a rope trap strung across the path. "I got you! Awesome trap right!" a little boy with a horn called out from the tree branch he was sitting on. "Or wait did I get someone? There's…. gloves and boots inside?" the boy questioned while looking down at the net Hagakure was caught in.

Before any of the teens could ask what was going on, an adult voice called out, "Ikkaku! Not again!" The boy panicked before jumping down and scampering off. "That was weird." Itsuka said before tossing a shuriken at the rope holding the net. Only it didn't hit the first try. Or the second. She finally hit her mark on the third attempt.

"So what's with the ninja gear? You could've just used ki to free her." Ojiro asked with some confusion. Itsuka smiled before noting that she wanted to broaden her skills. "Ki is great when in a big fight. But it tends to draw a lot of attention. And it's hard to draw on in certain cases."

She reasons that she could use some throwing weapons and tools to take a few off guard before using normal strikes or ki. "Because as much as I want to get stronger, I don't feel like tearing my body apart. Like you or Jota- er John do." Itsuka said while thinking back. Covering up her blush and saying they should get to the school.

"She's still got it bad for him." Toru whispers to Ojiro after Itsuka ran off. The tailed teen chuckles and agrees before saying, "I think she wants to forgive him. But…. he did kind of leave in a hurry. Doesn't exactly look good." Toru nodded in agreement before they were called by the teacher and Itsuka.

The teacher apologized for Ikkaku before escorting the teens inside to speak to the class. Ojiro started out by talking about what they did and how they worked as heroes for UA. But the discussion quickly devolved into questions about quirks, wild rumors, and the like about them and the school.

Itsuka sighed before muttering to herself, "I guess this is what we were like as kids too. Obsessed with something we didn't need. Thinking that the only way to be a hero or strong was with a quirk. And wishing for ways to improve them. Pretty stupid after you learn more."

"What do you mean by that?" a kid in the classroom asked. The martial artist jerked her head up and noticed the larger ears of child who asked. Groaning about a hearing quirk before saying, "let's just say, the capabilities of a hero may not depend on a quirk that much. Or true meta powers. Or even magic."

All of the kids look at her funny when she says that. Some noted that true metas were just strong quirk users. Others said magic didn't exist. But Ikkaku was more interested in how she said that a quirk wasn't that important.

"Um, do these kids not know about what has been revealed over the last year?" Toru questioned the teacher. Who gulped and pulled his collar before admitting that most on the island didn't want to acknowledge or admit that there were new powers appearing. "They didn't want to disrupt the peace we've grown accustomed to."

Itsuka had an annoyed and growing towards angry look on her face as more of the kids looked on in confusion. "Alright. Now I think I understand why Present Mic might have sent me here. It's to make you face some of the truth. So here it is kids: quirks are relatively meaningless in the larger scheme. Frankly, they actually make all of you weaker than you may realize."

Ojiro facepalms while Toru has a (likely) panicked look while the kids are shocked. Itsuka types in a few commands on her gauntlet and shows John, Izuku, and Kazuhiko. Listing them each as a true meta and showing they could do much more than most any quirk ever could. "And all of them were quirkless before. They weren't handed out powers just by being born. Like many of you….. or I used to be."

"What do you mean miss?" a girl asked worriedly. Itsuka sighs before showing what her quirk used to be. "I could grow my hands to increase my punching power and strength. That was…. Until an accident that almost left me dead. Joh… Justice, the one I showed earlier, did something desperate to save my life. But it destroyed my quirk. I can't make my hands grow anymore."

"Then how could you possibly be a hero!?" an angry girl with what seemed like firecrackers sparking from her hair asked. Continuing by saying there was no way a worthless weakling like a quirkless person could be a hero. "And yet here I stand. A licensed hero, who had defeated many villains. Even a true meta that had wiped out over 20 pros by himself."

Toru confirmed what she said and noted that Itsuka had fought and beaten Ryukyu. By buying time and planning to turn her strengths against the dragon woman. "But that can't be possible!" the girl shouts again and all of the kids look like their world has been brought down around them.

Ojiro has a small smile, as he remembered how all of them talked about how simple and useless his quirk was compared to the other kids. "There's more to a hero than their quirk. And we have another way to show that. Right, Resolute?" he said with a slightly challenging smile directed at Itsuka.

Who returns it before saying, "let's take this outside Tailman. That'll be a good way to show them." As they made their way out into the physical education yard, Ikkaku was looking at the two of them with awe. 'If, if they really do have other powers that don't have to do with quirks…. Then maybe I can….'

As he is thinking this, Resolute and Tailman take their stances. Each subtly drawing upon the ki around them to empower themselves. "So, care to go first? Ladies first" the two banter a little before Resolute's smile grow. She brings her hand to her side before sprinting forward faster than anyone can see. "Saisho no Ken, Deki En!" she calls out with a fast chop of her hand.

Tailman's eyes widen in panic before he ducks backward to avoid the technique. Which lets everyone see what Itsuka could do with just her bare hand; cutting down a thick tree with a single teal colored move.

"That's sharper than usual. But let's see how you like my Spinning Burn Heel!" Ojiro says before going into a handstand, rotating his body for stronger kicks and tail smacks, all empowered by his burning yellow ki. Itsuka evades the first few kicks but has to block the fiery tail attack. Sliding backwards a few feet after taking the blow.

The first exchange of blows was shocking to all of the children as they looked on. The firecracker girl asked if they were using some sort of device or support gear to unleash the attack she saw. Namely, the Flare Shots, Mitsumoto-me no ken: uneru nami, and ken no nami attacks. "Nope. They can do all of this thanks to their training. The hard work to learn more than just to use a quirk." Toru said with admiration in her unseen eyes.

This made the faces of a number of children drop, while others looked on and wondered what else could be learned. Ikkaku though, he was ecstatic to see and hear this. His own quirk was pretty weak. With the horn on his head allowing him to sense some things around him at times.

"Can anyone learn that awesome ki stuff?!" he asked happily. Toru tapped her chin before noting that they could. "But…. well. You have to want it for the right reasons," she said with a slight smile. Not that the kids could see that.

A few take that to mean that they had to really watch or ask the right questions as Resolute and Tailman's sparing session was subsiding. After being pushed back by conflicting Storm Fist attacks, both charged up their strongest attacks. Tailman's being a new one Justice had helped him to refine while he'd been back.

Resolute raised her hand up and called out "Saigo no ken; Fuji no sakeme!" with a large teal blade appearing above her. Tailman meanwhile put one foot back and charged up a large amount of burning ki into it. 'Can't really do this with my tail for the extra power. But this should still hold up against her big sword!' he thinks before quickly rotating his hips and kicking with all of his might.

"Wildfire Wave!" he shouted before making a large flaming arc that went along the ground and impacted on Resolute's attack. Both techniques kicking up a windstorm all around them and dissipating the blows. As the dust settled, the two teens had smiles on their faces. Before relaxing their stances and bowing to one another.

"That's just one thing we've learned. Not only at UA, but also from those around us. And in my case, I've followed our school's motto and gone far beyond what anyone would believe is possible." Ituska said with a firm gaze and sense of purpose.

The kids were all shocked and dumbfounded by what they had witnessed, but many were hoping to learn anything they could from the two teens now. Most were asking how to make their own Super Moves like what the two had shown. Others were wanting to learn ki as a way to spice up their quirks or similar.

Ikkaku thought was the loudest in wanting to learn the true techniques. Saying, "I want to be an awesome hero and fighter like you two and All Might! With big flashy moves and epic showings of power!" The two martial artists look at the boy and then to each other before sighing.

"If that is your reason, then we can't teach you. Any of you. Because you don't really have what it takes or understand what it means to learn or use something like ki," the pair explained before the teacher told the kids it was time to go home for the day. Having to drag Ikkaku away while offering to show the teens where a treasure on the island was.

The trio of heroes relaxed in the teacher's room after, and they discussed why Ikkaku was so determined. "It's pretty clear that it all roots back to his quirk. His quirk probably doesn't let him do anything special. Right sir?" Ojiro noted with a look toward the teacher.

Who sighed before noting that it didn't have any special properties beyond a little extrasensory potential. "He's constantly doing everything he can to stand out. Because his quirk wouldn't let him. No different than you, or a handful of other simple mutant types. And with how our society favors flashy powers and presences, he's scared of becoming nothing."

"It's not much different for you Kendo-chan. Or a lot of people who are quirkless. And that's the fault of all of us with showy quirks and everyone who obsesses over them." Toru said with her head tilted downward.

The teacher looked at them funny before asking, "so why didn't you want to teach Ikkaku? If you sympathize, why not help him to become capable of "awesome" things like what you can do?" The two martial artists look to him, then each other before Itsuka first speaks on the matter.

"There was a point our mentor tried to make clear to us. Not to mention others who tried to learn this. This kind of power can be dangerously addicting. Especially when you've not really known what it really feels like to be powerless. I've felt it myself after I lost my quirk. I would have given anything to have any kind of power to keep on my path as a hero. I would have lost myself to some of the reckless factors to ki training."

Ojiro continued by noting there was a powerful technique they both "knew" by proxy. "But it's dangerous to use. It could literally rip you apart if you aren't careful. Anyone who could learn ki might be tempted to go down the rabbit hole of that power. And it could cost them their lives." The teacher's eyes were wide and he understood what they meant. As it was similar to how he tried to reign in the children at time from overusing their quirks.

While they were talking about this, Ikkaku was wandering around sadly. He had been thinking about looking for the treasure of the island as his own way to become awesome. But suddenly his horn picked up something. "What is that?" he said while looking out over the ocean.

What it was, was a fairly large boat with a number of villains aboard. "You are sure this place will be worth our time?" the scantily dressed villainess Dusty Ash asked. The one who responded was a newer villain by trade. A young lady with spiky purple hair smirked before asking if Ash had any imagination. She wore slightly more than the white-haired villainess. That being some dark purple, almost black, shorts, a black and white hoodie with a neon violet shirt underneath, and a pair of special sneakers on her feet.

"Besides a number of valuable things we can take from the town, there's a little hero school here. But none of the trainees are older than ten. Aside from holding them hostage, there are other valuable assets on this island. We just need time for me and the idiot over there to find it," she said with a head gesture towards a black bandana wearing grave robber and thief who was originally planning to search for a rumored treasure.

While his quirk let him reduce rock to dust with a touch, it wasn't useful in dealing with the newer villain. Who had quickly overwhelmed him to steal some items he'd stolen. And had him dead to rights. So to stay alive he let her in on the possible score of the island.

'And now there are others in on this. No way I can cut them out to keep the treasure for myself,' he thought while looking at the other two major villains. The strangest looking of them had to be Gust Boy. With his fan shaped head and huge hands and fingers that let him create gusts of wind by rotating his hands. In bursts anyway.

While he was strange looking, the boss of the volcanic crew was a massive man who looked a quite a lot like Endeavor. Even had similar powers as the man, given he could generate heat and magma from his cells. He even ran the risk of overheating from his quirk just like the hero. But while Endeavor could produce and manipulate flames, Volcano as he was known could turn his fat cells into lava and magma to be ejected from his body.

"Could be interesting. And if it lures in some pretty capable heroes, it might be worth a fight!" the large man said while charging up his power. The purple haired girl though sighs and asks him to hold back for a little while though. "We need to sneak in and more importantly buy a touch of time by knocking out communications. I'll handle that part," she said before noticing something.

Namely Ikkaku looking right out at them. Who had his phone out and seemed to be either calling or taking video. The girl curses before saying, "new plan! I'll take out communications first. You all move in after and cause whatever ruckus you can!"

She focuses her eyes on the beach head and lets her energy flow. Her eyes crackle violet before sprinting off and across the water. And right past where Ikkaku was calling in the trouble. At least before his phone was shorted out by the villainess's electricity. She rapidly ran around the island and caused similar incidents in the town. Before running up to the highest point on the island.

"Only done this once before. Hope it works!" she thinks aloud before charging up more electricity and rapidly dispersing it all over the island. Causing an EMP effect that shut down all communications for the time being. "Whew. Well that takes care of that. Now they just need to do the rest."

After the massive electric show, the other villains knew it was time. "Start us off Gust!" Volcano orders while charging up both of his arm cannons. The strange looking young man's smile grows as he points one hand forward to kick up a small tornado of water and sand. With Dusty Ash and the grave robber adding their own quirks to the mix to increase the debris.

Gust Boy stops rotating his first hand and starts up the second to keep the wind storm going. While the rest of the group run onto the beach as their boat makes landfall. "Time to turn up the heat!" the leader announces before using his right to unleash a scattershot of magma into the trees. And then his right to burn the upper layers of the island.

Which startles the speedster as the burning laser of lava made it's way toward her. "Hey not cool! Watch where you aim that thing!" she says after returning to the beach. Volcano doesn't apologize and just tells her to keep scouting the island. "You've got more work to do, Sparky."

"It's not Sparky. Well okay honestly I haven't chosen a name yet. But that definitely isn't what I'm going with!" the girl says before speeding off to cause more havoc. Havoc that the UA teens heard and had to follow up on. "Oh man! What do we do?!" Toru asks in some fear at seeing the small tornado.

Ojiro and Itsuka share a look before taking their stances to draw upon extra ki. Both feeling some of the pain from the storm they quickly built up within themselves. "Not sure it'll be enough, but it should dissipate that funnel!" Ojiro calls out as the two heroes start spinning. Making their own wind funnel that impacted on the one Gust Boy was making.

As they came off of the spinning, they saw Ikkaku running away as fast as he can. "There's a bunch of villains here!" he called out before pointing back to the beach head. The teens' eyes widened as they ran in the direction he was pointing. 'And here I thought this would be boring day.' Itsuka thought while hoping her costume would hold up.

Okay so, I know I just made up yet another new character. And there are a few reasons she is with this bunch of villains. Least of which being lightning actually does fit with volcanoes and the like. As for the grave robber, he's from the TUM manga and if someone has a name idea (other than having his name include the kanji for "crumble" because I'm already working with that), I'd be open to it. As well as a name for my new speedster.

And yes, she will have a bigger role in all of this later. Just need a bit of time. As for the Volcano Thieves, I'm having to ad lib a bit for them given they didn't have much presence in the games they were a part of. I'll add more with the next chapter.
