Kyatsu quickly ran to her son's room. A chunin had come by to deliver a message. Eien was to go to the Kazekage office to meet his new team. Even though she was happy for her baby boy. Kyatsu couldn't help but worry. With him going in and out of the village so much, it would open to much opportunity for him to get Eien. Except she would except her son's wishes. He was skilled beyond his age and had the heart to change the Sand for the better.
"Eien." She gently shook her son awake, "Baby I have a message for you." Slowly he opened his eyes. The fogginess left his eyes. Looking around until he saw the scroll in her hand. Jumping up he grabbed the letter from his mom, "Oh my god! I get to meet my team!"
Getting out of bed he quickly sealed his puppets. Running into his closet all his mom saw was clothes flying out. She couldn't help but laugh at her son. Walking out his usual shirt was covered by a red vest. Putting black gloves on his hands with a grin, "How do I look?!" Ruffling his hair with a smile, "You look wonderful hun."
Wrapping her son in a hug and giving him a kiss on the top of his head, "My big strong ninja." Giggling he put his head band on, "By mama! I'll see you later!"
Eien ran as fast as he could through the village. He was so excited to meet his team. Since he was little he dreamed of this. Now he was a shinobi of the Sand. One of Sunagakure's soldiers. He was so happy and excited he couldn't stand it. Seeing the Kazekage Office made butterflies fill his stomach.
In pure size the building was incredible. It was a few stories tall anyway, not the tallest. It was topped with a round ball almost with a flat top. Walking in he looked around and saw the statues of the previous Kage. Each of the four showing a strength and power that fave way to the majesty of their power. Even the Fifth Hokage Rasa was powerful to. He'd seen him battle the Sand demon before.
Three Years Ago
Walking through the village, Eien was looking for something to eat. His mother was on a mission for the village. Being one of the few Jonin in the village made her to important to have stay to often. Kyatsu was a skilled Kenjutsu and Fuinjutsu konouchi. One of the best in the village. She had even offered to fix the seal on the Jinchuriki of Shikaku. Though Rasa hadn't trusted her yet and she hadn't asked to do it since.
Suddenly the scent of udon filled his nose. Feeling his mouth salivating he went over to the small little restaurant. The owner greeted him as he walked in. She was an older portly women. Her long black hair had gray strands throughout it. She wore a brown kimono and had a white bandanna in her hair.
"Well hello little one. I am Aika and welcome to Tomatsukage." She looked the boy up and down, "I don't know you but you look mighty familiar." Smiling he hoped to over to her, "Hello, I'm Eien Kingyo My mama is a ninja so you probably know her. Kyatsu Uzumaki?"
A fond grin formed on her face, "Oh yes I know your mother. I knew your father to." Waving him over to a seat at the counter she picked the small boy up and sat him down, "Now what would you like for dinner?"
"Um do you have maruten udon?" The old lady chuckled as she called a cook over and told him to fetch her a bowl of the cuisine, "Of course I do. I have very good suppliers you know." Getting to work he watched as the cook from behind the counter made his meal. Almost gyrating from excitement over the smell of the food. Before he knew it Aika was setting the food down in front of him.
A giant smile graced his lips, "Thank you Aika-sama! This is amazing!" Digging in to the noodles he almost melted. She couldn't help but chuckle, "So tell me what do you like to do for fun deary?"
In between bites he answered, "I like to train to be a ninja. With puppets and swords." She froze for a second only to shake her head slightly. Knowing just from talking to him, Eien was not another Sasori, "So you're mom trains you?"
"Yup!" Enunciating the p, "And my Great Granny Chiyo!" Now she saw it. He was much like Lady Chiyo when she was younger. Wonder and excitement, hopefully the world of shinobi won't make him dark and desperate like it did her old friend.
After finishing his food Eien tried paying only Aika wouldn't allow it, "You're mother is raising you alone and being one of our top jonin. I think I can afford this without you boy." Eien couldn't help but feel the joy of someone praising his mama, "Now go enjoy your day."
Going up to the rooftops he began heading home only to hear a roar. A few blocks away a giant sand Raccoon appeared. Sand shot out at the buildings smashing them into almost nothing. He heard screams in the streets below. All he wanted to do was run but his feet would move. He was frozen in place.
Tears filled his eyes as gold sand shot from the other direction. Smashing and wrapping around the tailed-beast. Trying to get out the monster swung it's tail smashing the roof he was on causing him to fall to the streets below. Watching as it's black and yellow eyes met his own. Stopping him from reacting to almost hitting the ground. Just before he hit though he felt arms wrap around him. They were wooden and strong. Looking back he saw Granny Chiyo her chakra strings pulling him back to her.
Present
Eien will never forget that fight. He had done well against Gaara in the exams. However he knew if that thing came out he never would have won. Not until he made something better. A puppet so strong that he could stop it just like the Fifth Hokage had. Or makes enough powerful puppets to even the playing field.
Seeing the other ninja that had passed yesterday. Most weren't all that memorable to be honest. Not that he thought he was better than them. No, they all thought that they were better then him. Just cause they were all older. Well except for Gaara, that boy was the same age as him.
"Eien Kingyo and Shira!" Stepping up they looked over the young boy. The ninja huffed before continuing, "You've been summoned by Kazekage-sama." Eien looked at the fourteen-year-old. He had spikey gray hair, light skin, and brown eyes. The boy wore a light blue collared shirt, with light brown pants, which was tied together with a gray sash. Everyone glared as the two boys made their way to the other room.
Walking in they saw two older genin. One, was easily recognizable to Eien. Kankuro Kazekage was another trained by Granny Chiyo. She said he was also a skilled puppeteer. Though she did say he wasn't quite as good as Eien. The boy hated him. Always said he shouldn't be allowed to be a shinobi. Not like anyone ever told him why though. Next to him was a girl with blonde hair. It was someone that he had seen with the Kazekage before. Usually during his speeches. Eien knew that she was Gaara's and Kankuro's sister, but he wasn't sure what her name was. What he did know was that she was a wind user. One of the many of the village as it was a common element here.
"Come in you two." Walking in they saw that Gaara was staring at Eien. His glare was strong and full of resentment. Finally looking away from the Jinchuriki, Eien turned his attention to the Kazekage, "Thank you for seeing us Kazekage-sama." Shira had no problem letting the puppet user talk.
Looking them over he nodded, "Normally I don't think much of low chakra taijutsu users." Shira bowed his head lower trying to avoid his gaze, "You however were impressive. So I'll give you the chance."
Turning his attention towards Eien, "Now you son of the red sand." Eien froze. Red sand? Did they mean Sasori of the Red Sand, "You showed much promise and no fear of my youngest. Which is why you two will be on his genin team." Looking over he saw fear on Shira's face. Not that he could blame the other boy.
"What?!" All three of the Kazekage kids yelled, "He is our brother he needs to be on our team!" Rasa gave a look that silenced them instantly, "I've made my decision. You two will be moved to Kyatsu Uzumaki. Baki you now are in charge of my youngest and his two teammates."
"Yes Kazekage. Come you three." Gaara followed instantly as did Eien. Shira trailed behind watching the sand user with nothing, but fear written on his face. Baki took them to a small ledge on the outskirts of the village. Looking down at the village he couldn't help but curse his own luck.
Turning around he faced his new team, "Alright. I'm Baki. I'll be your Jonin sensei from now on. You will do as I say at all times. Are we clear?" Gaara just stared at him. The other two both responded, "Hai!"
Rubbing his forehead before he continued, "I'm skilled in wind release and Taijutsu. I have no family, and I am skilled in Fuinjutsu. Though not to the extent of Eien's mother. Now you."
Eien and Shira looked at each other before Eien decided to go, "I am Eien Kingyo. I'm skilled in puppetry, Kenjutsu, and Fuinjutsu. I also have a hidden jutsu that is unique to my family." Without talking four golden chains came out of his back. Gaara's eyes widened. He felt a sort of calming when he saw them, but he heard his mother saying to not let them capture him.
After they went back Shira broke out of his trance, "I am Shira. I am skilled only in Taijutsu though I do have enough chakra control to walk up walls and water walk." Baki looked them over, "We will test your abilities now. Gaara, I know what you're able to do. I need to see the other two though."
"Shira. You're first." Dropping into a fighting stance he faced the gray-haired boy. Nodding Shira did the same, "Begin." Shira moved first. His speed was incredible. Dodging a kick set for his face Baki punched out. Though the boy to his surprise easily blocked. Shira sent fluid and strong punches and kicks trying to gain an opening. Baki blocked or dodged every attack. He wouldn't ever admit how much the attacks hurt though. This kid hit like a freight train.
Baki watched the boy's movements, however. Shira had a way of moving his body. Twisting in unpredictable ways but not giving up any of his power. It definitely gave him ideas of how to help this boy power up his attacks. He didn't have much chakra. Even he could see that but if he could get him to develop the little chakra, he had than he would be a terror in battle.
Catching the kick of the boy, he spun throwing him to the ground, "Good that's enough." Shira stood up nervously, "You have incredible Taijutsu skills. I know you don't have much chakra. Barely enough to form any ninjutsu." Shira's eyes filled with water, but he nodded in confirmation. Baki smiled though, "However I see why the Kazekage finally allowed someone like you. We will come up with something to help you become someone terrorfying."
Shira looked up at the man with a giant smile and awe in his eyes, "Thank you Baki-sensei." A small smirk graced Baki's face for a moment before turning to Eien, "You're up puppet user. I want to see this kenjutsu first."
"Yes sensei." Baki watched him closely. Eien was small. He had a carefree vibe to him. Just like Gaara he was feared in the village. Only most tried to keep the boy happy. Make sure he doesn't have any reason to turn from the village. His father has been a missing nin for years. A major threat to the Kazekage and the village. They couldn't have two of them out there.
When Eien stepped across from him though that care free attitude went away. The aura of a killer now stood in front of him. It almost made Baki freeze, "As I crank up the fight I want you to up your arsenal. Bring in what puppets you want."
Eien's tanto was strapped to his lower back. The handle coming off his right side. Reaching down he felt the grip in his hand and felt his confidence kicking in. Every other emotion faded into obscurity. He knew he was small. He knew that he was different. After hearing who his father was he felt anger. How could he not know? How could his mom not tell him? "Begin."
Drawing the tanto he defected the kunai from his sensei. Quickly retaliating with several small and swift movement. His body moved like water. Dodging and parrying the attacks of the much bigger shinobi. Slidding under his arm he barely dodged the attack. Baki was deceptively fast. His movements were quick and he was strong enough to knock Eien's arms out of the way.
Wind shot out of Baki's mouth sending Eien crashing into the ground. His tanto fell from his hand and rolled in the other direction. Rolling backwards back to his feet he looked to see Baki disappear. Pulling a scroll he summoned Byyako. The tiger puppet landing in front of him. Instinctively he had the puppet's powerful jaw bite down on the kunai shattering him. Baki was caught of guard for a moment.
Leaning back he dodged the claws before flipping away. Deciding he would break down the puppet, "Wind Release: Blade of Wind." Only a giant puff of smoke appeared as he was about to hit the tiger. Feeling the satisfying smash of something he grinned only for the tail of a wooden snake to hit him away. Standing he saw the snake coiled around Eien and the other puppet in a defensive manner.
Baki was impressed. This kids fighting instinct was good. His kenjutsu wasn't bad to say the least. Though he was low chunin skill. With his puppets though he was absolutely incredible. He hadn't seen anything like this with the other puppet users in the village. Outside of Chiyo-sama anyway. His skills were scary and his custom puppets were powerful.
It wasn't enough though. He wanted to see more. Byyaku charged towards him, smirking he went through the hand signs, "Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!" Eien was not taken a back by the sheer power of the wind attack. Losing the chakra strings to Byyaku as it went flying. Using his other chakra strings to hold him to the Kinja just to stay on his feet. Shira and Gaara both froze at the power of the attack as well. Gaara knew Baki was strong to but not to this extent.
Appearing next to him Eien's eyes looked to the side as Baki landed a powerful punch sending him back losing his grip of Kinja. Baki appeared again in front of him. His foot came up to land a hit on him. Out of reflex chains shot out wrapping around the man and smashing him into the ground. As they retracted Eien summoned Futsuumeichi. Dropping into a defensive position with a kunai in his left hand and his puppet attached to his right.
Eien could feel his body aching from that hit. Sensei hadn't held back with that attack. Baki stood up before whipping the dust of him, "Enough for now. I can see your resolve." Looking the boy over. The team gathered together, "Shira you're far behind you contemporaries. Both Gaara and Eien could easily compete with Chunin and even some Jonin. You however are behind. I expect you to work hard." The boy looked over at his team before nodding, "Hai sensei."
"Our team will be unlike others. Tomorrow we will start on C-rank missions." Eien and Shira nodded. Both seemed pretty happy to just be there. It was like the puppet user had completely changed, "Gaara, Shira you are both dismissed. Eien I need to talk with you."
Shira gave Eien a look of concern. The puppet user smiled at him before, "I'll be okay. I'll see you tomorrow Shira-kun." Nodding the taller boy walked away leaving the puppet user with their sensei.
Baki looked down at him. Waiting till he knew he was alone. Eien's demeanor changed to. Instantly becoming stoic. Almost inviting the challenge, "I wasn't for you becoming a shinobi." Eien felt his heart rate quicken, "In fact when the council told us of you and your mother I voted to have you executed."
He could see the stress on the boys face, "I don't understand why the Kazekage wants you to be a ninja. Why he'd give the chance to have you become a threat to our village." Eien clenched his fists. Tears were building up as frustration boiled under the surface. He wanted to yell at him. Punch him. It was overwhelming.
"However." Eien froze his glossy eyes staring up at the half covered face, "I may have been wrong. I saw you have the same look in battle as Sasori. Except you're not the same. Outside of battle there is a joy in your eyes. I may not agree with you being a shinobi but this is your chance to prove me wrong."
Walking past the boy he didn't look back, "Don't make me have to kill you in the future." Eien sat down and wrapped his arms around his knees. Hearing about who his father was not once but twice. How it was talked about killing him. He couldn't take it as he sobbed into his thighs. Tears pouring out covering his dry pants.
Gaara dismissed his sand eye. He listened to the whole thing, That boy was like him. An outcast to be used by his father. Nobody wanted him to be a ninja because of what he could become. 'He isn't like you. He may be the son of a monster. But no you are a monster. Get me his blood and prove your existence to me.'
Walking through the front door he saw his mother hadn't gotten home yet. She had another B-rank mission and should be back soon. Walking into his room he looked at his designs. Water started dropping from his nose to the desk. Getting up he started building a new puppet. This one had a feminine design. The design was a tall body with, had a white flowing robes. The face was similar to his Shinigami. The light mask had with brown lines connecting the eyes to the mouth. Long mantis blades were hidden int the arms. Ribbon on his own design wrapped around the neck and upper arms as well. If they worked the way he wanted them to they could be controlled throught the puppet with his own chakra.
Connecting his chakra strings to the body of the puppet he let it stand up. Smiling softly he let his chakra flow into the strings and through the puppet. Ribbon flowed up into the sky and wrapped around him. Warmth filled his chest before the betrayal started to seep in again. It was painful. Why didn't she tell him?
Shira got to his small apartment he shared with his dad, "Shira is that you?" Smiling at the sight of his dad, "Hey dad!" Pulling his son in for a bear hug, "So how was your new team?" Shira let out a small sighed, "They are both super scary. I'm on…...Gaara's and Eien Kingyo's team?"
His father paused before kneeling by his son, "What? Your on the the puppet kids team and that monster?!" Nodding he sat on a chair, "Gaara was really scary. Eien was different though. I think we can be friends as long as I don't have to fight him ever."
"Just be careful my boy. His father was terrifyingly powerful. When he betrayed the village, he killed the Kazekage. At least that's what they said."
"I'll be careful father. I promise." Grinning at his son he couldn't help but smile. His son was skilled and would become a great ninja. Even though the thought of the boys on his team terrified him. He'd still support his son though.
Thanks for reading if you did! Eien's puppets are actually from Naruto. Outside of Futsuumeichi they are all based off of Menma's summons. Also Shira is the man who
