Chapter 3

Italics mean in the dream

When the rest of the League and the team got back to the mountain, they were surprised to see the building all fixed.

"Sweet, this means that we don't have to work on anything now." cheered Wally

"Where's Dick? He was supposed to meet us here." questioned Kaldur

"Superman, you and the rest of the team return to the Watchtower and get Shayera checked out. I will return in a little bit." commanded Batman. Following Batman's orders, Superman and the rest of the League left through the Zeta tubes.

"See you for training," Black Canary called out before being teleported away.

"I can't believe that babe," Wally stated grumpily, "after everything we went through today, we still have to train."

"Of course we still have to train." A voice echoed through the cave, flying down, Dick appeared in the middle of the room, "Why did you think that BC would let you off the hook?"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe because we just found out that you have wings and magical abilities!" Wally raised his hands in the air for emphasis.

"Whether you like it or not, you will start training again." Batman added. Ending the argument before it even started, Batman sent the rest of the team off to be bed. "Dick, are you okay staying here alone. If you aren't, I can simply take you back to the Batcave." Batman asked in a concerned tone of voice.

"Bruce, I'll be fine."

"Alright, but if you don't want to stay here, call me anytime, and I'll come get you. Also I want you to alert me if anything else happens. Am I clear?"

"Crystal." Batman then walked through the Zeta tubes and got teleported to the Watchtower.

Dick's POV

As I headed to my room, I kept thinking about everything that had happened today. It's not everyday that you wake up, and you find out that you have wings and new powers. "Dick," turning around I saw that M'gann was floating by her door. She seemed to be worried about something, but I didn't want ask. As I walked towards her, my wings dragged behind me. It is definitely something to get used to, but if I really think about, it feels as if they have been there forever. "What's up M'gann?" I asked.

"Do you like having wings?"

"Yeah, I mean I think so."

She let out a short, sweet laugh, "You seem really confident about that."

"I mean, It's cool having wings, but..." reaching down, I started to rub my hand against the soft feathers. "I just never saw myself having wings, but when I got them, it felt like something that came out of a dream.

"What about your powers?" She asked, her eyes full of wonder, "Was it hard for you to control them? You certainly seemed like you got them down."

"Yeah, like everything, it's hard when you start out, but something about having these powers," I said as I lifted up my hand, "it feels like something so familiar to me. When I flew out of here, it felt so easy. It was like my wings had a mind of their own, and no matter what I do, they would never let me crash, I trusted them, and I felt like they trusted me."

"Well, I really like your wings, and I'm glad that they put up a fight." Smiling, she continued, "Do you think that it would be alright if I touch them, I have never really felt feathers before."

"Sure." holding out my wing, M'gann carefully stroked the back of the wing.

"They are so soft." she whispered excitedly. Drawing her hand back, she wished me a goodnight, and we left the quiet halls.

For me, sleeping with the wings weren't all that hard as you think it would be. It's nice to have your own personal blanket that no one can steal. As I drifted off to sleep, my mind was racing about everything that I had experienced the last two days. The pain I remembered vividly, but the magic and thrill that I felt when I took flight for the first time was the best thing I have ever felt in a long time. But of course there were always the bad thoughts that come into my mind. What if I had lost control and hurt, or worse, killed Zatara. What if, I wake up and find out that this was all a dream. What if my powers didn't protect my wings, and I ended up losing them. There were so much that went on inside my head that night, but I tried my best to not let my anxiety take over the good parts of the day. So with that, I drifted off to a peaceful and dreamless sleep, or at least that is what I had hoped for.

After my eyes shut, I was completely overwhelmed by darkness. Like always, when in a strange and dark room, I started to search my surroundings. The thing that caught my eye was a door that looked like it was taken from the Renaissance. From what is looks like, it was made out of pine, it had bars of iron overlapping the wood. There were two torches, one on each side, of the door. In a way it looked menacing, but it was the only door that was around, so pulling on the handle I opened the door. Light flooding into the room, I was soon transported to another place and time.

Looking around, I saw that I was in another room, but unlike the other one, it was as big as the grand hallway at Bruce's house. The moonlight was streaming through the giant windows, and through that moonlight, I was able to see two women walking through the room. Ine was completely covered in black and had horns, while the other looked like w young girl, couldn't be older than Artemis. I was about to walk up to them but then I heard the sound of chains being rattled. I was about to warn them, but I was too late. The chains fell right in top of the lady with horns, while the othr girl ran over to try to get the cahins off. It seemed like the chains were burning the woman. The room was then filled with men dressed in iron. As they pulled the young girl away, they began stabbing spearsd and swords at the woman underneath the iron net. Looking through the chaos, I could see a raven pecking at one of the guards, but suddenly it started to turn into a massive and terrifying dragon. The dragon grabbed the net with it's mouth and threw it off of the woman underneath. I heard her yell to the girl, "Run Aurora," watching as the other girl ran up a flight of stairs, the room was then lite up with flames. Following the young girl, I saw a door to her right. she would've ran right past it, if I hadn't grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the other room.

"Let go of me!!" she screeched as she cotinued to claw at my hands.

"Shut up, just listen. I grabbed you, since you were going to run right past this room. My name is Dick, and I just wanted to help you."

As she looked up, I saw her expression change from anger to wonder. "What are you looking at?" I asked

"You're one of them. You're one of Maleficent's fae."

"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked now a little annoyed.

"You're a-a-a Dark Fae. Look at your wings."

Looking down, I saw my wings draped behind. I also saw that I was in a dark attire. It had a sword on the side. Meanwhile on the front, it had a belt draped across it, with ninja stars hanging on the side.

"Could you tell me what the heck is going on downstairs? Why are those men beating that woman? And who is that woman?"

"It seems as though my father has decided to attack. The woman is Maleficent, she is my godmother. It seems as though she casted a curse on me when I was young, but as you can see it was..." there was suddenly the sound of rustling coming from the corner of. As Aurora ran behind me, I grabbed the sword, ready for anything. But as I looked, I saw that the sound was coming from a cabinet, that appeared to be holding a set of wings.

" I can't believe it." Aurora said astonished, as she walked out from behind me

"What is it?" I asked

"Those are Maleficent's wings. We have to get them out."

Runnning up to the cabinet, both Aurora and I started to push. With a loud bang, the cabinet came craching down. Through the debris, the wings started to fly up and out of the room. Following the wings, Aurora and I ran out onto the balcony that overlooked the giant room. There was then a bright light that shone throughout the room. Watching Maleficent, I was able to see that there the wings that were now attached to her back. I watched in awe as Maleficent flew through the room, dodging the arrows shot at her, picking men up and throwing them. But before I turned towards Aurora, I heard her scream, then I felt a sword piercing through my chest. Letting out a cry, as whoever stabbed me, pulled out the sword. I felt my power surge through my body, there was then a bunch a vines growing around me and Aurora. It covered us with a protctive dome. As I felt my power leave, I then felt my eyelids become extremely heavy.

"Hold on, Dick. I'm going to try to stem the bleeding." she said worriedly. But as she put pressure on the wound, I gently closed my eyes.

Regular POV

As the night went, Connor, M'gann, Artemis, Wally, and Kaldur, unbeknownst to the others, all decided to check on their little bird. Tiptoeing, Artemis was almost at Robin's door, but then she felt another body run into hers.

"Baywatch! What the hell are you doing?!" whispered, yelled Artemis.

"Me? What the heck are you doing walking down the halls in the middle of the night?" Wally retorted

"Well if you must know, I was going to check on Robin. You?"

"Same. Since we're doing the same thing, why don't we go together."

"Fine." Making their way, together, Artemis and Wally eventually got to the bird's door, but they wern't the only ones there.

"It looks like we aren't the only ones that was worried about Rob." Artemis remarked staring at the shapes of M'gann , Connor, and Kaldur.

"Don't be mad, we just wanted to make sure that Robin was alright." M'gann quickly said, trying to justify her actions.

"Why would we be mad?" Wally countered, "Arty and I are doing the exact same thing."

"Well, are you just going to stand there, or do you want to take a look in Robin's room." Connor mumbled, before turning the doorknob. As the rest of the team surrounded the entrance, Kaldur broke in, "Should we really be doing this. If we do this, then we would be invading Robin's privacy."

"Look, Kaldur, it wouldn't be exactly invading Rob's privacy. We would just be checking on him. Is it really wrong to be concerned for a friend? Besiddes people do this all the time." smirking, Wally turned his attention back to the door. Opening the door, the team looked in to see Robin's wings wrapped around him in a protective way. Walking in, the team loooked at their teammate's face. There was a small frown on his face. Before the team left, a ear piercing scream escaped Robin's lips. Just after Robin screamed, vines and roots started to grow through the walls.

Running over, Wally tried to wake Robin, but had no success.

"I can hear his heartbeat beating slower than usual!" announced Connor

"I'm going to alert Batman and the League!" Kaldur said before dashing off to signal the League

"M'gann try to get into his head. Try to wake him!" Artemis commanded as she continued helping Wally with trying to wake up Robin.

"Connor, keep those vines away from us!" shouted Wally

Just as Connor finished with strangling another vine, Kaldur, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and Martian Manhunter.

"What in the blazes is going on in here?" questioned Flash before getting tackled by vines

"Uncle J'onn!" M'gann yelled.

"John, get into my son's head and try to wake him up." commanded Batman. Rushing over to his son, Batman leaned his son's head against his chest and began talking quietly.

"I shall try my best." Martian Manhunter replied. Touching his temples, both Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian dove into Robin's mind to try to free him from the evil that is keeping him back.
