Mt. Justice, 0740, March 24th
Borra, what do I have to do?!" Robin repeated, "What can I do so that Klarion would no longer be in power?!"
"Robin," Batman answered,"I had a talk with Borra, and I think that, you might not be ready for such a heavy burden. Maybe if we wait a few more years..."
"NO!" Robin shouted indignantly, "I am not going to wait for a few more years!! The longer we wait, the longer Klarion stays in powers. And the longer innocents get hurt!!"
"Robin, I do not think that this is a good idea." Kaldur interjected, "Perhaps Batman is correct. It would be wise that you would wait a little while."
"Are you seriously saying that I should just leave it alone?!"
"That's not what Kaldur's saying, you know that." Artemis warned
"Robin, we just want to make sure that you will be safe." Miss Martian added
"Wait, you're all on board with this?!"
"Yes," Connor said bluntly,
"My King, I know what you must be feeling," Borra approached, getting down on one knee so that he was at eye level with Dick, "but I must agree with Batman. I cannot risk losing you. Our kind has already lost Maleficent and your father. We cannot..."
"My father?!!" Robin interrupted, baffled, "What the hell does my father have to do with anything?"
"Your father was a Fae. He was supposed to train you, mold you into the king of the Moors. You were supposed to find out about your Fae heritage, you were supposed to be ready for when your wings and magic came in. But ever since that fateful day, your father had never been able to tell you. Then you were taken in by Batman, so you continued to know nothing about it. That was why you were so shocked about having wings. Then you hit the ripe old age of sixteen. Your wings came in and your magic awoke."
"You mean to tell me, that my dad was a Fae, and he was supposed to tell me about this. Why I have this God forsaken magic!! Why I have never been a normal kid! Hell, has everything I've been told been a secret or a lie!!" Robin said as he shook with anger.
"My king..." Borra was immediately interrupted by an explosion that hit the cave. As the force of the blast repelled the team, Batman, Robin, and Borra back, red smoke began to fill the room.
"Aww Crap! Not that stuff again." KF groaned, attempting to get up from underneath all the rubble
"What is happening to Borra?!" As Kaldur caught sight of Borra starting to disintegrate. Meanwhile, deformed and giant ogres came storming in.
"KF GET BORRA OUT OF HERE!!!" Robin commanded in between coughs.
"What about you?"
"I'll be fine, but Borra is slowly deteriorating. You need to get him out of here.." Interrupting Robin, a ogre came lunging for him.
Body slamming the deformed creature, Batman commanded,"Kid Flash, Red Arrow stay with Robin. All of you get out! NOW!!!"
Leaving no room for argument, Robin, KF, and Red Arrow dragged Borra out of the cave while Batman and the remaining of the team started to fight. As the more ogres and elves came flooding into the mountain, the harder it was to fight them. The ogre's skin was thick enough to deflect most of the batarangs that Batman threw, and the elves were small enough to climb onto the supers. "We need backup!!" Artemis shouted over the chaos.
"Good idea. Superboy, cover me." racing over to the monitors, M'gann called up the Watchtower.
"Is anyone there?! If anyone is there, please pick up!!" M'gann shouted into the monitor.
"Hawkwoman here. What's wrong?"
"The Mountain has been attacked. A fight is still going on!! Requesting back up immediately!!"
"Alright, sending backup. We will be there soon."
Recognized Hawkwoman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, and Black Canary (sorry that I didn't use their codes)
After entering the Mountain, the Leaguers were shocked to see that things that you would read from a fairy tale.
"Well, when I woke up this morning, I did not see this coming." Green Arrow muttered under his breath.
"Get your head out of the clouds!! There still a lot more coming!!" Batman shouted, dragging the heroes out of their stupor, continue to struggle against a dark elf.
Rushing to his aid, Wonder Woman flew over and punched it hard enough to cast it into next week.
"Great Hera!! What are these things?" She shrieked as another elf flung itself onto her.
"Dark Elves," Artemis replied as finally got free from a ogre's clutches.
"I call the big one!!" Flash exclaimed before speeding over to a giant ogre.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Black Canary warned. Releasing a Canary Cry, Black Canary turned her focus back to Flash, who was now about to get squished. "Shayera, assist Flash."
With the swing of her mace, Hawkwoman was able to knock out the monster. "And here I thought you could handle this." Rolling her eyes towards Flash, she continued to batter the fairies.
"Flash, try to find where these things are coming from!" Batman commanded
"On it," zooming away, Flash found himself staring at a dark red portal emitting the disgusting creatures. "Uhh, I found out where they're coming from." Flash spoke into his comm. "Meet me on the beach."
After a few minutes of waiting, Flash saw the figures of his friends coming towards him, followed by a swarm of ogres and elves.
Turning towards the massive swarm, Wonder Woman shouted over her shoulder, "Make it quick!"
"Okay, so if we could find out how to close this portal, then we could stop the flow of the creepy, deformed things."
"How are we going to that? This portal is made of Klarion's magic." Green Arrow inquired, while Black Canary warned the others, "We have to find a way and fast."
(Robin POV)
After the front of blast took down the wall, and the force pushed us back, my lungs started like they were burning. Opening my eyes, I saw the red powder, that we saw in the past, spill into the room. Crap. Grabbing my rebreather, I quickly appllied it to my face, but some powder still got into my lungs. Then I heard Kaldur yell something about Borra. It seemed like Borra was slowly disintergrating. But that was the least of our problems. As more smoke flooded, things started to rush in. I told Wally to take Borra. If we loose Borra, then we won't get any more answers. But, like always, Wally refused to listen me. I wanted to tell him that he should just leave me, that I would be able to help with the fight but before I got to say anything, Daddy Bats beat me to it. He told Arrow, KF, and me to take Borra and get out of there. It wasn't like I disagreed, I mean my rebreather was now barely fuctioning, and my lungs were literally burning inside my chest, but I didn't feel comfortable about leaving my foster father and my team to fight my battles. After Batman shouted for us to get out, we quickly grabbed Borra and left.
"What the hell happened?!" Red Arrow bursted out after we got out.
"Well..." KF started, scratching his head, "You know what, I got nothing."
Tearing off the mask, I started to cough, harshly. "Klarion." I rasped out in between coughs. My voice was dripping with venom.
"What do you mean Klarion?" Roy hissed
"Klarion can sense magic, like most of the sorcerers that we know." I explained as my coughing began to die down, "He must've sensed me when I used my magic, therefore he know's where I am, and where to send his army."
"So basically, if you use your magic, then basically, you're announcing to Klarion, 'Hey here I am come kill me'." KF gestured as he tended to Borra.
"Yeah. I need to stop this. Before anyone else could get hurt."
"Umm.. Guys, I think we have a problem with our buddy Borra." KF said with concern. Turning towards where we had set Borra, my eyes widened at what I saw. Back at the Cave, he didn't seem that bad, but now that we were out in the proper lighting, I could see that Borra slowly deteriorating was false. His wings looked like they were burnt to a crisp, and his skin was dry and chapped. "Borra, what the hell is going on?"
"The powder... is a iron powder... and tomb bloom mixture... it kills fairies." he explained, gasping with every breath he took.
"How do we help?" Red Arrow asked, knelling next to the fairy.
"No cure. My King... you must save the Moors. Try to remember what... your father has... taught you."
"We can't talk now. We need to get you to the Watchtower!"
"No time... I found you... I can die.. in peace... knowing that the Moors.. will be saved." Borra then closed his eyes. Seconds later, he turned into dust, and as soon as he did, a strange looking flower sprouted up.
"What is that?" Roy questioned, staring at it suspiciously.
"Tomb Bloom. It's almost like a tombstone, except it is made after a fairy dies. And since most fairies are immortal, these flowers are rare. There used to be a small field in the Moors, but it was raided by Ingrid's men." Wally said matter of factly. "What? I read about them while we were with Thistlewit. There were many fascinating books about Moor Flora and Fauna." Roy just stared at him incredulously, but I was staring at the flower. Tears threatened to swell up in my eyes, but I forced them down.
"I'm taking down Klarion down." I said through gritted teeth.
"Hold on Dick. You're deciding on a big thing here. We don't even know where Klarion is." Roy protested
"Well based on what we know, Klarion would most likely be still in the Moors." Wally broke in
"Either way, it's still way too dangerous." Roy countered
"Technically, Robin has dealt through worse, or are you forgetting the times when Joker tortured him."
"Wally, I swear to God, if you open up your mouth one more time, then I'll shove an arrow down your throat!"
"OK, ok!! Jeez. Are you sure that you haven't been hanging out with Arty?"
"Roy, I don't care about what you have to say. I'm going to help, if it's the last thing I do. And if I have to go through you, then so be it."
After staring at the sand beneath their feet, Roy let out a sigh, "I'm so going to regret this later. Dick, if you're going to the Moors, then at least one of us should come with you."
"I can't let you do that. This is supposed to be my mission. I won't let anyone else die because they were helping me." I replied. The last thing I wanted was to loose anyone that I love.
"Then you can't go. I won't hesitate, I will tranquilize you." Even though this could be a false threat, I couldn't risk it. So reluctantly, I agreed.
"Ooh, sweet, I call shotgun." Wally said with a smirk.
"Wally," Roy reprimanded, "this is more than calling shotgun for the front seat of a car ride, this is concerning Rob's sake and the sakes of every single fairy that's under Klarion's rule."
"You don't think that I know that. Trust me I do, but that is no reason to stop trying to bring some fun. But fine, you'll go with Rob to try to stop Klarion. I'll fill everyone in later and get there as fast as I can."
"Alright, but for right now, we have to look for a portal or something. If we know Klarion as well as we think we do, then, most likely, he set up a portal somewhere close by." I broke in.
"I think that I alreay found it." Arrow pointed out. Looking further up the hill, I saw what he was staring at. The portal, itself, was large enough to fill up the entire training platform.
"So what? Are you going to jump through that thing? Or are you going to find some other way?" KF asked dumbfounded
Ignoring his question, I pushed myself to go through the portal. "I guess we're going with option one." Simply shrugging, Red Arrow followed after the bird.
Normal POV
(After Flash found the portal)
"Flash, give me a damn answer!!" Batman growled.
"Okay, I think that I've got it, but I need to run a quick errand. Be back in a Flash." Zooming off, the rest of the Justice League and Young Justice was left to fight the oncoming horde. After what seemed like forever of fighting against the pack of ravenous fiends, the heroes' began to have less strengh behind them. "Where the hell is Flash?!" screamed Hawkwoman as she sidekicked a elf.
"I don't know. But by Hades, if he doesn't show up soon, I will personally make his life miserable." Wonder Woman snarled as she shielded herself form a club coming down on her shield. There was soon a flash of yellow and red that zoomed past her.
(Different part of the battlefield)
"Man, when there's no Flash around, then all things go to heck."
"Baywatch, what the hell are you doing here. I thought that you were supposed to be taking care of Robin?" Artemis quipped as she and Green Arrow stood back to back shooting everything, that wasn't their own, in sight.
"I was with Robin...," sending a punch to a elf's little face,"butthenhedecidedtofindKlarionandthenleftthroughtheportalwithArrow!"
"Hold on, what did you say?" Artemis asked flabbergasted
"Robin decided that he wanted to find Klarion, but, at first, Arrow objected, but he was okay with it, as long as someone went with him. So, while I got stuck here, Red Arrow and Robin went through the portal to the Moors."
"Wait, you mean to say that Robin and Red Arrow are at the Moors?! A place that we have no clue to finding!"
"Yeah, pretty much,"
"Idiot," Artemis growled whacking Wally's head, "Flash is finding a way to close that portal. If we don't stop him then we have no way of helping Robin."
"Well, I didn't know that part." Kid said sheepishly as he rubbed the sore spot on his head.
"I'll tell Green Arrow."
"I heard." Green Arrow interrupted. "Wally, find Batman and tell him what happened."
"Yes Sir." Giving a salute, Kid Flash was gone.
"That idiot." Artemis grumbled.
"Yes, he is an idiot, but he did what he thought was best. Now, come on, we have to catch up with Kid."
"I was talking about Rob."
(Back with Batman)
"Hey Bats, I'm back!!" Flash yelled
"Where the hell were you?!" Wonder Woman growled.
"I was trying to find Zatara." pulling Zatara out from behind him, Flash gave off a goofy grin
"How is he supposed to help us?" Hawkwoman hissed
"He is going to help by setting up a spell to stop and shut down the portal." Batman answered for Flash.
"Are you sure it's going to work?" Miss Martian appeared next to Batman.
"It has too,"
As Zatara started to recite the spell, Aqualad and Superboy started to hear the sound of Kid Flash shouting, STOP!! DON'T LET ZATARA FINISH THAT SPELL!!" Less than a second, a flash swooped in and knocked Zatara over.
"Kid, what is the meaning of this?" Wonder Woman asked
"If you close that portal, than you can say goodbye to Robin." Kid breathed out.
"What are you talking about?" Aqualad asked
"Baywatch, over here, let Roy and Robin try to find Klarion. And apparently, they went throught that portal. If you close that portal, then we would have no idea where the Moors are." Artemis explained
"How did you get here so fast?" Kid exclaimed.
"We went around the mob, insteead of through." Green Arrow chuckled.
"You were supposed to watching Robin!!" Giving off a Daddy Bat Glare, Batman continued, "Why didn't you stop him."
"Look, I know I may have messed up, but if Rob thinks he can do it, then I have faith that he will."
"Sure he may be able to do it, but has it ever occured to you that Robin could die from it!"
"Batman, I know that you are worried about Robin, but you, of all people, should know that Robin has a plan." Green Arrow assured
"Fine, Green Arrow, you and the team will go through that portal and try to locate Robin. As soon as you leavve we'll destroy the portal, clean up here, and try to track your location."
"Hold on, how come I'm the one that's going to the creepy fairy world?!"
"Because you were the one that opened your mouth, and I am the only one that has the technology to track you." Batman growled.
Agreeing reluctantly, Green Arrow and the Young Justice team disappeared through the portal.
"Zatara, get the spell ready." Restarting the spell, Zatara successfully closed the portal, therefore stopping anymore creatures to crawl through.
After closing the portal, the battle was able to be ended rather quickly.
"Bruce, I know that you are worried about Dick, but you have to trust that he will do the right thing." Diana whispered into his ear. Giving a grunt of approval, the Dark Knight left the area without a sound.
(Watchtower)
"How long has he been at it for?" Superman whispered to Wonder Woman as they cotinued to watch the Dark Knight work tirelessly to find Robin.
"He's been working for three hours straight." Wonder Woman respnded
"How much longer do you think he can continue?"
"He's not gonna stop until he find the Team and Robin."
"I though that he said that he had the equipment to trace them."
"Geez, Barry, don't do that!" Superman whispered yelled.
"For a guy with super-hearing, I would think that he would be able to hear me coming down the hall."
"Let's not insult each other this late at night." Diana warned.
"I agree." Spooking Superman and Flash, Black Canary and Hawkwoman appeared on the otherside of Wonder Woman.
"Just because Bruce has the tech for tracking, doesn't mean that it won't take a while for it to be up and running." Black Canary explained. As an awkward silence fell upon the supers, Batman turned around and gave each of the supers a terrifying Bat Glare.
"Yes. Canary's right. But it is also hard to work while others are interrupting you by talking."
"Alright, alright. We're leaving," Flash said, "but when you find anything, then alert us." Getting a nod of approval, Flash and the rest of the remaining Leaguers left. Turning back to what he was doing, Batman still felt the presence of one Kryptonian hovering around.
"Bruce,"
"What do you want Kent?" Batman asked, his tone laced with venom. Without turning around, the Dark Knight continued typing things onto the screen.
Feeling like Batman didn't want him there, Superman started to open and close his mouth, like a fish.
"If you have something to say, Kent, then just spit it out."
"If you need help then... don't be afraid to ask. It won't do anyone good if you can't fight because you pushed yourself to hard." After waiting a while, Superman left, leaving the Dark Knight.
"Don't worry, Dick, I'll find you." Batman whispered underneath his breath.
Klarion's Dark Fortress, 1900hrs, March 24th
(Red Arrow and Robin)
"I'm starting to think that I should've let Wally go with you." Red Arrow whispered.
"Why? Scared?" Smirking, Robin and Red Arrow continued to navigated through the Klarion's dark castle.
"NO!" Roy whispered shouted, "I'm just concerned, we have no idea what's here. And with you and your wings," gesturing to the large dark wings, that were joined to the boy's back, "it's pretty easy to get spotted. Not to mention that you are the one that Klarion wants, for God knows what."
"I know Roy, but so far we haven't been spotted yet."
"Yeah let's keep it that way. And remember no magic use. That would definitely blow our cover."
"Too late. Someone's coming." Robin warned, pointing to a group of shadows that were produced on the wall, that were coming , "And there is no where to hide." Getting into a battle stance, Red Arrow and Robin watched as the shadows came closer.
(Green Arrow and the Team)
"How long have we been here for?" Kid Flash whined.
"Don't know, but I am still thankful that we aren't in those uncomfortable garments anymore." Artemis replied
"Agreed." Connor whispered. As they continued to roam through the fortress, they began to loose hope that they will find Robin.
"Miss Martian, can you see if anyone is up ahead." Green Arrow asked in more of a command than a question.
"Of course." Going into camouflage, Miss M flew up ahead. Waiting, the Team heard Miss Martian emit a shriek of... Happiness?
"Guy's get over here!" she said over the mind link. Rushing over, ready for a fight, the rest of the teens were surprised to see a familiar bird and Red Arrow.
"Took you guys long enough." Red Arrow joked. Instead of getting an answer, Red Arrow got a hit on the upside of his head. "Ow!" Roy exclaimed as he rubbed the bump on his head, "Ollie, what the hell was that for?"
"That's for agreeing to let Robin go here without the League knowing!"
"Guys, hate to cut this reunion short, but I can here people coming!" Superboy alerted
"Alright, we should probably get going." Entering into the closest, unlocked door, Green Arrow and the Team found themselves in the middle of a creepy and dark throne room.
"The guards most likely left already," Artemis said, "we should probably get going."
"Oh you can't go now," a menancing voice sounded throughout the room, "you just got here. And besides, you have something that I want." Klarion then appeared suspended in mid air, while Teekl rested on his shoulders.
"Klarion!" Aqualad hissed.
"My, my. Who knew that fishboy didn't have manners. You shall address me as King Klarion. Now, all you have to do is turn over that fella with the wings, and I'll let you go."
"Oh Yeah. You and what army?!" Kid Flash threatened
"Me and this army." With the wave of his hand, Klarion created a portal that emitted an army of human soldiers.
"You couldn't keep your mouth shut, could you?" Artemis sneered at Kid Flash, while he was already receiving murderous glares.
"Get them!" Klarion commanded.
The soldiers charged at the Team. As Green Arrow released an arrow that emitted smoke, the Team fought off the soldiers that were closer. "You know, I don't understand why Klarion would send humans, I mean they don't even have powers." KF kidded. As if on cue, one of the guards created fire in his bare hands and hurled it at Miss Martian. "Hey, Baywatch, here's an idea, STOP OPENING YOUR MOUTH!" Artemis screamed as she tended to the now passed out Martian. As Robin dodged another pair of bolas, he watched as the, seemingly, human guards took down the clone of Superman, the second fastest man in the world, and an Atlantian. It was only him and Green Arrow left, since Artemis got captured while she was tending to M'gann. "Got any plans kid?!" GA asked as he shot another arrow from his quiver. "No!"
"Well better come up with something soon, cause I'm on my last arrow!" Catching a glimpse of Klarion's cat, Robin suddenly got the idea. "Arrow," Robin said in a dark tone, "aim for Klarion's cat. Teekl is the only thing that is anchoring Klarion to this world!"
"On it." While the smoke began to lift, Green Arrow took aim, while Robin was left with fighting the now magical soldiers. Releasing the arrow, everything seemed to be moving in slow motion, but just as the arrow was about to hit the cat, Klarion caught it. "How dare you try to hurt an innocent kitty." The Lord of Chaos roared. Knocking down GA with a blast of magic, Klarion turned his attention to Robin. "Take him and scourge him, then get him ready for the ritual. Once you are done, then take him to wait with his friends until the time comes. I would love to see their faces when they see their precious bird so broken." He said, while Robin continued to attmpt to get out of the guards grasps.
"Let me go, you bastard!" Robin hissed.
"Now, now, Robin. No need to get upset now, you should be grateful, we will help you reach your destiny." Klarion replied with a sick and twisted smile.
"King Klarion is correct. The time of falling stars is in twenty- four hours, and we still need to get you ready." walking out of the shadows, Queen Ingrid appeared. "Do not worry, pasăre mică, you are going to serve for a glorious purpose."
