"Max, this pizza is lovely." Lisa was sitting at the small kitchen table and she took another slice of the spinach and ricotta pizza that Max took from his freezer and cooked in his oven.
"Thanks, Lisa." Max was sitting at the table with her and he took another pizza slice as well.
"And your apartment is lovely too."
"Really? Thanks." Max was very surprised. Though he was glad that Lisa was back in his life, he was very nervous about showing Lisa the apartment he had been living in Spring Falls for the last year since he left Mona after he discovered that she cheated on him. He was very nervous because he was worried if Lisa didn't like it and she thought he was a loser for living in a place like it. But when they did arrive very late in the afternoon, she actually thought it was very nice. Even though it was one of the very smallest apartments in the world, if not the very smallest, it had everything it needed, including two small bedrooms, a small bathroom, a small kitchen and a small sitting room.
"Are you sure it's not too small for your liking, Lisa?" Max asked.
"I'm sure, Max," Lisa replied. "I know I've only been here for four hours, but I already feel more at home here than I ever did at Daniel's mansion or even all the mansions I lived in with my parents."
Max really appreciated what Lisa said about his apartment and then he realized how different she was in his apartment now than she was at her mansion in Philadelphia. As he helped her pack her stuff up, he looked around it and he thought it was beautiful as it was vast. It also had a massive garden, a large swimming pool, two huge hot tubs and an enormous pool house that was as big as an ordinary house. But he noticed that Lisa was in a hurry to leave the mansion and she didn't want to stay in it any more than they needed to, especially when her parents weren't there but they could arrive back at any moment, and so he just helped her with packing her stuff and put it in her small blue car while she wrote a letter to her parents explaining that she was moving out of Philadelphia and moving to Spring Falls with Max and left her phone number and email address in case they needed to contact her for anything, though she really hoped that they wouldn't. She was so relieved when she and Max finally drove away from the mansion and how she was looking forward to never ever go back to it ever again.
As Lisa drove herself and Max to Spring Falls while he navigated, they talked. Lisa asked Max how their friends from high school PJ, Bobby and Stacey were and he told her that they were doing very well. PJ, who was still in his twenties, was a celebrity chef who owned three restaurants and had seven Michelin stars and he still was in a happy relationship with his beret girlfriend Lucy, who he met at Spoonerville College, and together they had twins, a boy and girl called Patrick and Penelope, whom Max was their godfather. Bobby owned a cheese factory and was in a relationship with two ladies. The first one was his ex-girlfriend Stacey and the other one was an African American called Lauren and he lived with both of them. Stacey was an attorney and Lauren was a doctor of medical research. All three of them were still in their twenties and they had very successful careers. And Bobby was the father of two girls called Sabrina, Stacey's daughter, and Regina, Lauren's daughter, and Max was the godfather of them as well as PJ and Lucy's twins. Lisa was delighted to hear that.
Then Max asked Lisa about her friends in Philadelphia and if she still remained in contact with her best friend from Spoonerville, Chloe. Lisa explained to Max that she had remained in contact with Chloe, mostly by emails. They called each other their email buddies. Chloe lived in Mouseton and she owned her own fitness center and it was very successful. Lisa did make a few friends while she lived in Philadelphia but they all left since they graduated university with her and they had successful careers and families of their own. There was nothing and no one left for her in Philadelphia but she couldn't escape until Max came back into her life.
That was why Lisa didn't mind Max's apartment, especially because of Max lived there himself. And she enjoyed seeing all of Max's achievements from high school, including all his basketball trophies, all the awards he won for his acting in those high school plays he acted in, all the talent shows awards that he (and Lisa) won, to his college achievements, including the nine College X Games trophies that he won in the twelve College X Games he took part in, all the college degrees he earned, which were majors in business, athletics and drama and were now in picture frames and hung on his wall and his college acting awards where he played the main role in Stephen Sondheim's Company in 1999, Jesus Christ in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar in 2000, Radames in Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida in 2001 and Leo Bloom in Mel Brooks' The Producers in 2002. And there were a lot of photos of his girlfriends from his college years, including Lola, Sasha, Charlotte and Annie. There were no photos of Mona because Max was still so upset about what she did to him that he wanted to forget about her. And Lisa was glad to see that there were still some photos of her with Max because this was concrete proof that Max never forgot about her just as much as she never forgot him. The only ladies that Max didn't tell Lisa about was when he had sex with his cousin Debbie and PJ's mother Peg on their South American cruise in Summer 1998 and he hadn't told anyone else about it and neither did Debbie nor Peg either.
"And of course you have a great job and you've got promotions and earning a lot of money. This is concrete proof of success. I'm very proud of you, Max."
"Thanks, Lisa," Max said. "But despite all the success I've earned, I feel like having you back in my life is the greatest achievement of my life, even if you just want to be friends."
"Well, we'll see about that in the future," Lisa said. "But I do know this. Even if we just remain friends, my life does feel better that you're back in it and I don't want to lose you ever again."
"You won't, Lisa," Max said. "I promise. And I don't want to lose you ever again either."
"Thanks, Max," Lisa said.
"Now, how about some ice cream?" Max suggested.
"Oh, yes, please," Lisa said.
After having some of the delicious ice cream, which Max had mint choc chip ice cream and Lisa had vanilla ice cream, they sat down on the small dark green couch and watched one of Max's recent favorite movies, which was The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Lisa had heard of the movie, but she never saw it and she was glad that Max encouraged her to try it because she really enjoyed it as much as every time Max watched it and she couldn't wait to see The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, but that would have to wait because it was time to go to bed.
Max offered the spare room to Lisa if she wanted to be on her own, but she didn't. She wanted to sleep with Max in his bed in his bedroom and have their special sexy fun. He was glad she wanted to as much as he did. He never forgot that they might just remain friends for the rest of their lives and Lisa might leave him for another guy when she would get a job, but he wanted to make the most out of her staying with him while it lasted and he was also glad that she wanted to, so they went for it. They really went for it like the good times they had when they were at Spoonerville High School.
