Seishu was willing to help me with what I asked, but she had one small 'demand'. One that I was already growing displeased with as I found myself falling into the Dark World once I crossed the portal.
"Worry not, I will catch you~!"
While it was true that Seishu didn't like her son much, she wasn't exactly that doting towards her daughter, Senshu.
Igawa Senshu was, for a lack of proper 'flattering' terms, a bit of a problem for someone like me. And by that, I mean she is a Shotacon.
Either that, or she was anything-sexual for whatever her mother liked.
To put it bluntly, she is a femcel and one that really hadn't given up on trying to get her mother's affection despite who Seishu truly was.
Now, skipping on the woman trying to get her glowing fingers onto my masked ass, I have to say that the Dark World is even bigger than I had expected it to be.
Considering the hiccup-paced release of lore content in regard to world-building, this pseudo-Taimanin RPGx timeline sure had a huge dimension for all demons - the large land was split in various domains and each was ruled over by the noble families that had, due to a lack of a 'Demon King', became equal warlords between each other.
The land we were meant to approach was not one we specifically had in our map, but it was a general section of the Dark World where the Death Wraiths were known to have settled with.
The ruler was known as the 'Dark Wraith King', and was formally known by the locals as 'the Corpse Lord'.
I struggled a bit to fly and float about with my cape, but Senshu had her own plans in mind as she suddenly intercepted my frame, giggling and then directing us to a specific section.
"Got ya~."
Face upon her bosom, and hatred swelling intensely, I thought about why I hadn't gone for something more 'classic'.
And then I remember that Usagi didn't exactly have a grasp on her 'purging' powers. And there was a risk that, despite her best intentions, she may do more harm to Hotaru than not.
Even if the Sailors were to coordinate in saving Hotaru, the overall process was too risky. Especially if this forced Mistress 9 to pull a bullshit and cause more harm than good.
Within the current circumstances, I could make sure that I could do this without involving my sister into trouble once more.
Hell, the entire point I became Moon Knight was to lessen her burden - I don't need to fail on that role either!
As our descent picked up speed, we were able to shift the course of our 'impact' and safely (read safely as 'woody' due to a few trees) land on a small clearing within the dark forest leading to the Death Wraiths Tribe.
Despite their names and their appearances, Death Wraiths were not dangerous monsters if not provoked. In fact, unlike their unsightly appearance, they were particularly nice to speak with as Senshu remarked, admitting that her mother had a highly negative view of all demons.
So, even individuals as 'friendly' as Death Wraiths were seen as 'enemies to destroy'.
"But worry not. Auntie Senshu will make sure you are all safe and sound."
I am fucking loathing you so much.
I usually am not one that would say Seishu is right but... her daughter is a mess. And not a 'hot one'. I would go as far as to say that the reason this was indeed a 'win' for her was due to the fact Seishu knew a personal loss when she saw one.
Senshu was just unsuited for diplomatic shit if she got flirty even with someone like me.
That being said, she didn't exactly get touchy and gropy. She would look at me way too much, giggle whenever I stared back at her and... well, that's all about Senshu.
The real kicker was the next bit of this 'difficult' mission. After all, I expected a 'Quest' of sort to come up about this. I mean, I had this happen many times already and I had been eyeing some methods to get EXP now but...
I realized why that wasn't the case.
When we finally arrived at the Tribe, I felt a bit unnerved by the grotesque appearances of the Death Wraiths: Some were humanoid enough, but either had mutated limbs to allow them to fight with ease against fellow demons, or had two heads and multiple limbs. The rest was hardly humanoid. The pinky flesh revealed dark bones, almost charred, that appeared to be as alive as the rest of the body.
And while this sight was indeed worthy of a flinch or two, what made me cringe the most was their attitude.
"Oh, hello strangers. Welcome to the Death Wraiths' Village. I am Jill, how may I help you?"
The saccharine-sweet voice was truly a jarring trait for the multi-legged mutation with two crooked mouth-head-body to have. Still, Senshu was able to reply just fine while I just leaned away from this whole circumstance.
"Greetings, we are here as a unaligned party seeking your king."
I heard a huge sigh from 'Jill'. "The King? That idiot is currently brooding. Usually I would tell strangers to not approach if you don't want to be bored to death over how little human culture exists here, but I guess he wouldn't mind two... one human, and a Taimanin."
"That sounds fine."
Jill slumped left and right, the centipede of flesh making me shiver from time to time, a reaction that Senshu exploited almost immediately.
I was suddenly picked up from the ground and kept in a hug during the walk.
"Worry not, Moon Boy. I will keep you warm and safe for as long as needed~."
Fucking hell, Seishu. How come you raised a girl-failure like this one?!
Holding back my mouth on pelleting the bitch with foul words, I knew I had to behave politely even as some more 'feminine' Death Wraiths giggled at the sight.
After that grueling walk of infamy, I was finally released as we found ourselves standing before the Corpse Lord himself, the Death Wraith King.
The Corpse Lord, Death Wraith King ?
LVL. 100
HP: ?
And he was indeed brooding.
Sitting in a corner, glaring at a wall which made for... a rather amusing sight considering his size.
He was a mixture of bones, demonic flesh and a powerful armor that had skulls of his predecessors by his shoulder-plate over his bulkier arm. His 'thinner' hand held a large looking
"Ugh," He muttered. "What is it now?"
"Sire, you have guests. Humans."
Jill sounded annoyed more than supportive of her ruler, doing what felt like her own version of 'rolling' her numerous eyes and then stumbling away.
"He is all yours."
I was confused over this last statement, but I saw the King rising off the ground, turning to look at us and-
"YES~!"
He suddenly bolted, making both Senshu and I tense up as we saw how fast he was and... how quickly he slowed down to lean down and admire us.
"Humans! It's been so long I have seen one like you. Well, one as polite as the two of you."
...
"Hello?"
"Greetings, little one. I am surprised to find a child here actually. And a Taimanin- Wait, what are you doing here?"
"I am this child's guide," Senshu proudly remarked, "He seeks your guidance over a matter unfolding in the human world which you may be able to help him with."
"...Like what?" The King asked, turning to me with a confused look. "If it is some undead-related problems, there are simpler ways to-"
"There is a space-parasite called 'Daimons' that is corrupting people and taking over their bodies," I finally spoke up, mustering the courage to brave the ludicruous situation and ignore the outright absurdity of how 'chill' all of this was.
This was the Corpse Lord, one of the highest lords in the entire Dark World.
One that was meant to be second only to the Prime Minister of the Dark Kingdom, the former central government in charge of the Dark World. And he was talking as if this was a 'fun' thing and as if we weren't humans- actually, he looked even more delighted and more giddy that we were humans.
"Oh...?"
"One of those called Mistress 9 has taken over the body of a friend of mine due to her potential to become the 'Representation of Silence'."
I saw the Death Wraith King tense up at this, the blue flames he had for eyes glowing brighter. "S-Silence."
"You are... familiar with this matter?" Senshu inquired, surprised for the two of us on this revelation as it felt like the King knew more than we had expected.
"Silence is defined as a deity to us. We are 'Death Wraiths' and 'The Silence' is our very view of 'Death'. The end of it all, with only pure nothingness left behind," The King muttered in shock, then turning back to me. "Is it truly the case? Does 'The Silence' live once more?"
"She does. But she is dormant, hurting. And she is plagued by a parasite that may be too dangerous to safely remove with traditional weapons."
A growl came from the king as he leaned back, standing upright. "Such a slight shan't go unpunished. Yes, I will personally help you with this matter... but I wish for one thing from the both of you."
I was about to ask 'what' this was, but Senshu jumped first.
"I will surrender my body if this is what you seek, oh Grand King."
...
There was truly an awkward air as she proclaimed that, and I saw the King turn his gaze away and cough. "M-Miss, I am not sure you know this but..."
"Hm?" Senshu half-asked and then the king sighed.
"We Death Wraiths don't have penises and vaginas."
...
"Oh."
"So... the price?"
"Right-" The king shuddered then getting back to the right mood to resume his serious talking. "All I am asking is something we as a tribe are long yearning. We require... materials. From the Human World."
"Such as?"
"We... we wants those things you humans call... manga. And merchandise about those peculiar series."
I was... I was really regretting this visit. For my sanity's sake.
Thankfully, the Death Wraith King knew on how to make a portal to the Human World, so I could do just that in a hour or so. Once I was back, I had bags and bags filled with paid merchandise, booklets, and other stuff.
The king was literally jumping on his feet.
"Yatta! More Urusei Yatsura-!" He paused as he realized we were looking at him checking out that particular series and... he grew suddenly shy. "I-I mean! Thank you, Knight of the Moon. Your deeds shall be well-received by this tribe and we shall deem you a honorary member and a permanent friend!"
Ding! You obtained the perk 'Death Wraith Buddy'!
(Death Wraith Buddy) - Obtains a 15% Boosts while fighting beside the Death Wraith King.
Neat. I guess...
"Nonetheless, the price has been paid. Where is 'The Silence'? Let us- I mean, let me assist you at once!"
This was truly turning into more of an headache and a half but... I forgot that Senshu had yet to ask for her price. And hers... I doubt it was some ecchi manga for her private businesses.
AN
So, what will Senshu ask from Shingo? Will it be truly a depraved thing or... just something sad and pathetic? Or both?!
