Danzō obviously did not expect the attack but the consequences were better than he ever thought possible. Sarutobi was now sitting in a meeting with the fire daimyo. The Fire Daimyo was known to be very indecisive on many things but Kenji had the favor of the old man due to his years of dedication to the Land of Fire. With this in mind Kenji's sentence was brought before not just the council of the Hidden Leaf but also the Fire Daimyo's Court. Kenji knew his decision while justified was the wrong one. Danzō needed to be stopped before he destroyed the village from within, but to attack him in public was foolish. Regardless of his secrets Danzō still held an undeserved favor with Hiruzen Sarutobi & he was an advisor appointed by the Fire Daimyo. His actions were erratic, undisciplined & everything that he was not. The more Kenji thought about it the more he realized that his actions were not normal for him. Everything about him at the time was more wild, more unhinged, not the actions of an ANBU especially not one of his ANBU. Had he let his guard down at some point? What could have happened & why was he now feeling more focused. Kenji looked at his wrists & realized that his cuffs had a chakra suppression seal on them. "When the hell?" was all that Kenji could ask himself & who in the world would be crazy enough to put him in a Genjutsu. The Kurama Clan was well known for specializing in Genjutsu but so were the Uchiha. But out of habit Kenji never looked an Uchiha in the eye without his glasses & the Kurama were to timid to do something like this. He needed information, unfortunately he couldn't get any locked in an underground cell. When he was brought before the combined court Kenji saw a heavily bandaged but smiling Danzō sitting with the advisors. Kenji didn't say anything but listened, the fear mongering from the civilian council members about his actions stirred the Fire Daimyo's court to sympathize with Danzō & curse Kenji's actions. "On his turn to speak Kenji asked two questions "Who is going to be the next Hokage". Hiruzen looked at Kenji & said that he was choosing Minato Namikaze as the 4th Hokage. At that instant Danzō stiffened but it was the massive dose of killer intent that every shinobi felt. Orochimaru snuck out of the meeting cursing Danzō & Kenji. The point of all of this was for him to become Hokage & use his new power to achieve his goals. Danzō guaranteed his that if Kenji was taken out of the equation, he would become the next Hokage. Now that bastard Namikaze would take the mantle, he had to speed up his research Minato was too "good" of a person to allow his work to go undisturbed & there was no way he would turn a blind eye like Hiruzen even if Danzō was whispering in his ear. The Area of Effect Genjutsu was a masterpiece that Orochimaru had mimicked from watching the Kurama Clan training in their secret atrium. The snakes he summoned were immune to Genjutsu & mimicking the signs they saw were easy for the intelligent reptiles. The only clan who could possibly sense the technique would have been a clan member & Sota Kurama was too scared to reveal anything. The AOE Genjutsu was an experimental technique they had yet to even finish, to state its usage would be tantamount to accusing one of his own clan members of interfering in a meeting they were not even supposed to know about. Finishing & utilizing the technique was easy for Orochimaru, but now it was pointless. As Orochimaru walked away, Danzō seethed in his seat. Hiruzen had to make that decision while he was away. How could he reverse this, in what way could Danzō fix his village so that another tree hugging "will of fire" weakling wasn't tearing down all the work he had done. Root was just the start, Danzō had hundreds of plans & without Orochimaru to be the face of his goals Danzō was going to have to work harder to become all powerful. Kenji watched as the room settled from the release of killer intent. Hiruzen immediately sent a group of ANBU to search the area with the specific instructions to locate Orochimaru & to verify if he was the source of the power he felt. Kenji locked eyes with Danzō & understood that he had no idea what happened as he was on guard just as much as everyone else. After a few minutes for everything to settle down, the Hokage restarted the trial of Kenji. "For the crime of attacking a council elder without cause you are hereby banished from the Land of Fire" Hiruzen stated. He hated to do it, Kenji was a family friend & he grew up idolizing Kenji for the kind of man he was. Before anything else could be said Hiruzen smiled & added "for 10 years". The entire room went silent. Danzō stared at Hiruzen as if he had lost his mind. Ten years was not enough time, he needed Kenji gone for good. With a smile on his face the Fire Daimyo stood up & said "15 years banished from the Hidden Leaf but only 10 years from the Land of Fire". The room fell silent. Banishment was usually a lifetime sentence. There was no time sacked on to it. For a brief second if anyone had actually paid attention to Kenji they would see the smile on his face & a brief nod of understanding between the three men. Both knew Kenji could not be allowed to stray too far from the Land of Fire he was a keystone that they were not yet able to function without. Danzō on the other hand while looking very calm was already planning to murder both Kenji & Hiruzen in their sleep. Once the Daimyo tacked on his portion there was no way it could be overturned. It had to have been preplanned, there is no way that it could possibly work out any other way. With the sentence decreed the meeting was adjourned.
