As Kenji was being escorted back to his cell he yelled for the ANBU to duck. Above them came a massive fireball that scorched the walls. Because of the narrow corridor there was nowhere for them to go. Kenji immediately fell into old habits & began to issue orders to his ANBU unit. "Boar earth wall, Dragon break a hole into this wall for more open space, Turtle water bullets to match whatever katon jutsu they use next & Dog once you get an opening strike. Down the corridor three of Danzō's Root ANBU stood at the ready. The female in the front who released the attack went through more hand's signs. "Flame Murdering Bounty" was yelled by Dog as he immediately recognized the hand sings. Boar thickened the wall he had created while Turtle released a suiton Water Piston Two Handed Magnum jutsu releasing a barrage of water bullets. Turtle's attack not only nullified the Root ANBU'S attempt, but the barrage hit the one in the middle causing her to fly into the wall. The steam created by the attacks allowed Dog & Dragon to attack with Dog attacking from the ceiling with his tanto drawn & Dragon forgoing destroying the wall to punch the last Root member in the face. When Dragon's fist cracked the mask it immediately started to make a hissing sound. Kenji screamed for them to get back while Boar poured all his chakra into strengthening his barrier. The following explosion rocked the surrounding area, bringing more ANBU & the police force. Once the scene was clear Kenji & his ANBU exited the area while Danzō thank God that he had the foresight to enhance the suicide tags to incinerate the entire body that way no one but the survivors knew that Root tried to kill Kenji. Once Kenji was in his cell the Third Hokage, his elders & the Fire Daimyo came to see him. Danzō waited for the accusations & had every possible explanation & counter to anything that Kenji had to say. To his surprise Kenji simply smiled at him. Danzō knew that there was no way that Kenji wasn't going to tell them, he had to. Kenji had to throw his name & the story of Root & Danzō would once again discredit him by throwing the fact that he had no proof, just like with Orochimaru. This would hopefully take away all of Kenji's credibility in front of the Fire Daimyo leading to Orochimaru taking the Hokage seat no matter what Hiruzen said. Only the Fire Daimyo could override the Hokage & Danzō wasn't going to lose his chance to tear down the now former ANBU Chief. But the smile never left. "Say something damn you". Was running through Danzō's mind. "One statement, one threat, something to go off of". Even though Danzō was emotionless on the outside, inside the man was screaming. "What happened?" ask Hiruzen. "The prison hallway looks like a mini warzone & none of your escorts are willing to explain what transpired. There are signs of katon, suiton & doton jutsu's being used as well as what seems to be scorch marks on the walls." Kenji looked at Hiruzen & said "We were walking & then there was an explosion, once we got out of the corridor to safety we saw that the police were coming & waited for help." The look on Kenji's faced showed complete surprise & Danzō's stone façade nearly broke as he looked at the man in the cell. Hiruzen knew what had happened, he knew that Danzō had sent Root to assassinate Kenji. The three scorch marks were probably the remains of Danzō's unit as far as Hiruzen was concerned. Kenji said nothing more & asked when his banishment would begin. The Fire Daimyo gave Kenji 1 week to get all of his affairs in order. By the next morning Kenji had disappeared from the ANBU Cell & could not be found anywhere within the borders of the Leaf Village. As Danzō walked into the hidden bunker housing his Root ANBU he noticed it was quiet. Even for an undercover operation there were usually sounds of movement, but today there was none. No one was watching the perimeter & no one was doing security checks. As Danzō made his way through the building he decided to check into the barracks. Inside he found himself to be more shaken than the war hawk would ever allow his subordinates to be. Inside the room nearly every member of Root was lying dead in their bed. Those who weren't were missing all bore a variety of fang marks all over their bodies. Danzō knew at that point Orochimaru had lost all faith in him & was more than likely going to become a missing-nin. Do to the position that Kenji had the Hokage & Fire Daimyo gave Kenji two years to get everything in order so that while he was banished there would be no lapses in the protection of the village & Land of Fire. Kenji worked until Hiruzen passed the mantle of Hokage to Minato Namikaze. The following day Kenji left the village.
