Back at pride rock, Prince-Consort Taka was lying down with his daughter sleeping peacefully in between his paws. It has been a long day and he wanted to talk to Mufasa and let his mate rest but Sarabi thought better of it. Instead, she went to talk to his brother-in-law about missing his niece's presentation.

In a way, Sarabi was right. Mufasa never forgave him for his and Sarabi's mother, Queen Eshe taking his title away and gave it to Sarabi.

The late Queen Eshe, his mother-in-law always knew that Mufasa wasn't fit to be king.

The sound of approaching paws caused the brown lion to lift his green eyes to see a familiar dark cream lioness approaching. Her greenish eyes glowed from the slight darkness of the cave before dimming the closer she got to the father and daughter.

"Sarafina, what a pleasure? Did you get to see the presentation?"

Sarafina gazed at the princess with a soft smile before looking at the Prince-Consort. "I'm afraid not, your majesty. I was assisting Malene and your mother. Malene gave birth to a healthy male."

"That's wonderful! Sarabi would be excited to know," Taka exclaimed happily before frowning at the forelong expression on his friend's face. "Sarafina, is everything alright?"

Sarafina pinned her ears flat against her head. "My lord, to be honest, no I am not alright. Everyday I am afraid of my son's future. Little Malka is safe since he's technically the Eastern kingdom's heir as well as your nephew. But what of my Mheetu? What will happen to him?"

Before Taka could respond the two friends turned their attention to the cave entrance to see the queen entering with a shadow over her.

"That brother of mine really gets on my nerves," the dark beige lioness growled lowly.

Taka cleared his throat before smiling at his mate. "I'm guessing your talk with Mufasa went well."

Sarabi huffed as she laid down by her mate. "I do not want to discuss my pain of a brother."

The brown lion nuzzled Sarabi before looking at the dark cream lioness. "I apologize 'Fina. But I can assure you that Mheetu will forever have a place amongst the Pridelands as long as he wants."

Sarabi sat up and looked at her cubhood friend with concerned filled orange eyes."You're worried about Mheetu? Why haven't you said anything?"

Sarafina lowered her head. "You were busy with the mess Mufasa made after he destroyed the Lion Guard, then Queen Eshe's death as well as the birth of the princess. It never seemed like the right time."

Sarabi frowned before standing and walked over to the dark cream lioness, once close enough the queen embraced her friend. "I'm really sorry, 'Fina." Sarabi stepped back, smiling at her friend."But I believe I know something that will help the both of us."

Sarafina and Taka shared confused expressions, both wondering what the queen had in mind.

~TLK~

Across the Pridelands, at edge of the kingdom was a large cave. Where currently a young orange lioness with a scruffy orange tuff on her head and a teenage creamy brown lioness with dark spots on the back of her legs, where dragging a zebra in.

Once the young lionesses dropped the carcass a dark tan with a dark brown stripe going down the back of her head stormed over.

"What took you two so long!"

The orange lioness rolled her hazel eyes. "If you wanted it a certain time you should have hunted yourself."

The dark tan lioness snarled, her dark red eyes blazing. "Tama, so help me you better be glad you're my sister or you would be swimming with the crocodiles!"

"Zira, pipe down!" a dark brown lioness sneered as she approached, her orange eyes full of annoyance.

"Avana," Zira growled. "I don't know why he keeps you around. You're useless! You already attached with a brat!"

"Do not disrespect me, Zira!" Avana roared. "Remember, you're just Mufasa's concubine! I am his mate, you're lucky I don't snatch your throat out!"

"Ladies!"

The lionesses all looked and saw Mufasa entering the cave. As the gold lion approached the four lionesses many lionesses on the side of the cave stood and bowed.

Once he stopped in front of the group. He turned his orange eyes on the teenage creamy brown lioness.

"Doa, you're dismissed!" Mufasa sneered at the young female who dipped her head before dashing away. "Zira, take Tama and your brother and hunt something for the hyenas. I know they're restless but I have nothing yet."

"Of course my king," Zira bowed before glaring at her sister. "Get Nuka and meet me at the watering hole."

Tama nodded before heading deeper into the cave, once she and a young tan, small black mane lion walked out of the cave Mufasa turned to his mate.

"Avana, I don't need you and Zira going for one another throats!" the large gold lion slumped down to the cave floor with a dissatisfied grunt. "I need you two to be at your best if I'm to take back what's rightfully mine."

Avana lowered her head. "Of course, my love." the dark brown lioness laid beside her mate and nuzzled into his red mane. "How did today go? Did you go to the presentation, like you promised Sarabi?"

Mufasa snarled. "Of course not!" the large lion stood and began pacing as Avana sat and watched. "And top it off, that wrench named her spawn after Eshe,"

"Your mother..." Avana started but was cut off by Mufasa's roar.

"That wrecthed lioness was not my mother!" Mufasa snarled. "She deemed me unworthy to be king! Her, when she shouldn't have been queen at all! It's foolish having females in power, that was one of the mistakes my grandfather Mohatu ever made."

"So, what are you going to do?" Avana asked curious about her mate's plan. "We know that Sarabi must die. But now she has a mate and an heir? How would we get rid of them?"

Mufasa growled lowly before sighing. "I don't know."

Avana stood and walked over before nuzzling her mate. "In due time, my love. You'll figure it out and you will finally be king as you were meant to be."

Mufasa smiled before rubbing his head against the dark brown lioness'. "You're right, in due time. Just got to have some patience."

As night fell over the quiet Pridelands, the mates looked at the moon half covered by the clouds. Knowing one day soon, they will finally have what they deserved.
