Hi everyone, I'm back with the next chapter and again I'm sorry that it's taken so long.

I want to be honest with all of you for a minute, I've been having trouble writing for a little while now. Work's been stressing me out, I'm not getting much sleep and Saturdays are the only free day I have to do anything I want. I'm not saying this for pity or anything like that, I'm just explaining why it's taking me a long time to update and to ask that you all bear with me and be patient.

Don't worry though I'm NOT going to abandon this story, when I start something I see it through to the end no matter what.

I've got the basic plot for the next chapter which is going to be a bit of a filler and to get Ash and May to their next destination but before I start to flesh the plot out a bit I'm going to be writing a Halloween one-shot. It shouldn't take me to long to write that as I've got the storyline down I just need to actually write it and once that's written I'm going to start Chapter 24 of this. The one-shot will be published on Halloween night (England Time) like the other one-shots I've written.

Alright, I've prattled on for long enough time to get to the reason you're looking at the page.

Pokémon on hand -

Ash :- Pikachu, Lucario, Gardevoir, Ponyta, Bagon, Grimm (Absol), Typholsion, Houndour

May :- Glaceon, Blaziken, Vulpix, Spoink, Mawile, Lilligant, Mienshao, Delcatty

Chapter 23

From the Sea to the City

Holly shook her head thinking she was hearing things, when her attention focused back on Lucario she saw the confused look on his face.

"Sorry about that but I could've sworn I just heard you speak." She said, a small smile on her lips.

I did speak, I asked whether I could battle your Infernape. She looked to be a formidable opponent and I wish to experience her fighting abilities first hand. The smile on Holly's face wavered as a slightly scared look crossed her face, her hand slowly moved to her Pokéballs when she heard another voice.

"Lucario, what are you doing? Why'd you disappear like that?" The owner of the voice came into view as Holly turned around, she didn't recognise the man walking towards her but she did know the girl who followed alongside him. Lucario turned around, walked towards the man and bowed to him.

Forgive me Master Ash, I only wished to battle Lady Holly's Infernape. Lucario said straightening up. Ash's eyes flicked from Lucario to Holly and back.

"I thought we agreed you wouldn't talk to anyone unless we knew them." Ash said.

I'm sorry Master but I sensed that Lady Holly was leaving and my desire to battle was to great to withhold. Lucario hung his head in shame for letting his emotions get the better of him.

"It's alright, just let me know next time. Okay?" Ash asked, Lucario nodded and lifted his head. Ash turned to look at Holly and smiled, "Sorry about that. I'm Ash Ketchum, can I ask you to keep Lucario's ability to talk a secret?"

"Yeah, no problem. I'm Holly Howells." She replied holding her hand out, Ash took it and noticed a small spark of Aura jump between their hands before they met.

"So, any chance Lucario can have that battle?" Ash asked, focussing his Aura senses on Holly. He could feel a slightly larger reserve of Aura in her than most other people had which would explain how she was able to keep pace with Infernape during their Appeal.

"Sorry but Infernape's still tired from the Contest, I'll tell you what if we see each other again then we'll have a battle. Deal?" Lucario was noticeably put out that he couldn't have his battle but he wanted to fight Infernape at her best so he'd wait and when the time came for their battle he'd be ready. Ash looked at the Aura Pokémon to see what he thought, Lucario replied with a nod of his head.

"Deal."

"Can I ask you a question now?"

"Sure."

"Why does Lucario keep calling me Lady Holly? Not that I mind."

"It's just the way he is," May answered, "He calls everyone Lady or Sir, except for Ash, he calls Ash Master. Even though Ash has asked him not to, a lot."

You forget that I call you Mistress, Mistress May. Lucario added. May blushed and rubbed the back of her head, some of the powder left over from the Contest drifting off.

"Yeah, there's that too."

"Mistress? So I guess you two are together then." Holly said.

"That's right." May replied putting her arm around Ash's, leaning against him gently. A light smile played across her lips as she did so, her heart quickening it's pace ever so slightly.

"I'd like to stay and talk but I need to get going, I've got a train to Goldenrod I need to catch. Lucario, you and Infernape will get to battle, just be patient."

As you wish Lady Holly

Holly smiled and once again shook Ash's hand, the young Aura Guardian noticing the small spark of Aura again. Holly also shook May's hand before turning and waving as she walked away. Holly, knowing she needed to catch the train right after the Contest, had brought Full Restores and other medicine with her so she didn't need to take Infernape to the Pokémon Centre.

"Well, what should we do now?" Ash asked as he and May walked back to the Pokémon Centre, their arms still linked, with Lucario, Gardevoir, Pikachu and Glaceon walking behind them.

"I was thinking that we should take a break for a little while, I know we had a bit of a break in Vermillion with the Regions Festival but you had your Gym Battle to think about. It would be nice just to have a few days of rest, no Contests, no Gym Battles, no Training just rest and enjoy ourselves before starting out again." May said. She'd been thinking about this since they arrived in Porta Vista, apart from the couple of days they'd spent with Misty at the Cerulean City Gym they hadn't stopped. "Well, what do you think?"

"Sounds great, everyone's been working real hard so they deserve a bit of fun. Come on, let's go down to the beach." Ash said with a big dopey grin on his face as he started to pull May towards the sand.

"Ash, we need to go to the Pokémon Centre first. I want to take a shower and ask Nurse Joy to take a look at Mienshao."

"Okay. Hey, I meant to ask why didn't you use the Aura Link?" Ash asked as he and May walked back to the Pokémon Centre.

"When Julia said the Contest was made to show the bonds between Co-Ordinators and their Pokémon it made me realise that by using the Aura Link might be cheating. I asked Mienshao what she thought and we agreed not to use it and just do our best with the bond we already had." May replied. Ash nodded in understanding. When they arrived May went to take her shower and Mienshao was passed over to Nurse Joy to be checked out while Ash sat at the Vid-Phones. He'd called home to let his mom know how things were going and once that conversation had ended he dialled another number.

"Hello?" A voice on the receiving end of the call said before the screen flared into life showing who it was that Ash had called.

"Riley, it's Ash."

"Ash, what can I do for you? We only spoke a couple of days ago. How did the Contest go?" The elder Aura Guardian asked.

"May lost in the final round but it was really close. That's sort of the reason I called, the person that won the battle, I think they might be a potential Aura Guardian. When I shook her hand earlier I could feel the Aura inside her and it felt stronger then it should've been for a normal person." Ash answered.

"Did you tell her?"

"No, she was in a hurry. There wasn't enough time to try and explain everything."

"What was her name and do you know where she was going?"

"Her name's Holly Howells and she was getting a train to Goldenrod." Ash then described what Holly looked like.

"Good, I'm going to see if I can meet her there and see if she's Aura Guardian material. Give May my commiserations on losing the Contest. Oh, how did the Aura Link work?"

"She didn't use it, she wanted to use the bond that she already shared with Mienshao. The bond of their friendship and trust in each other. If you're going to leave Rota then I'll come back and guard the Queen."

"I can understand her doing that, let her know that all of Rota supports her and will be cheering her on when she gets to the Grand Festival. It'll be the same for you in the Pokémon League too. There's no need for you to return to Rota, I'll double the guards and Tula's due back from Kalos tomorrow so she can be on duty for a little while. I should only be gone for a day or two at most."

"I forgot about Tula coming back, she's been away for a few months. You'll get to see your wife again." Tula wasn't an Aura Guardian in the strictest sense, she could use Aura but only to increase her physical abilities like speed, strength and stamina but she couldn't use Aura to heal injuries or create an Aura Sphere. She'd been training with Riley for years and while at first they didn't like each other, feeling eventually emerged and they had gotten married the year before Ash started his Aura Training.

"It'll be good to see her again but she might kill me for not being here to meet her on her return."

"If you can, get her to kill you after the Pokémon League. I don't want to take your position permanently." Ash said with a smirk.

"I'll see what I can do." Riley chuckled. They talked for a couple more minutes before ending the call, Ash then went up to the room he was sharing with May and knocked on the door.

"May, can I come in?" he asked.

"Just give me a minute Ash." Came the brunette's muffled reply, Ash waited patiently and a few seconds later he heard the door lock click as May opened the door for him. He could see her hair was still a little wet as she took a towel off her head. "I'm ready to go when you are Ash." She said. May had done the same thing she and Ash did when they went to train on the beach, she was wearing her swimsuit underneath her normal clothes.

"I just need to get changed into my swimming trunks and then we can go." Ash replied walking into the room and picking up his bag before going into the bathroom. A couple of minutes later Ash came back out of the bathroom and put his bag down next to his bed. "Alright let's go."

Ash and May made their way out of the Pokémon Centre, collecting Mienshao as they passed Nurse Joy, and walked down to the beach holding hands. When they got there they released all of their Pokémon telling them just to have fun, Pikachu and Glaceon quickly started a game of tag with Ponyta, Vulpix, Bagon, Spoink and Houndour. Typhlosion lay on the sand relaxing with Lilligant and Delcatty, Lucario and Blaziken were having a friendly sparring match while Mienshao watched them, Gardevoir was building sandcastles with Mawile. Grimm had opted to stay in his Pokéball and out of the sunlight.

Ash and May stripped down to their swimsuits before alternating between playing with their Pokémon, swimming and sunbathing, occasionally someone would walk over to them asking for a battle or to congratulate May on her performance during the Contest. A couple of times someone would approach either Ash or May and start to flirt with them but May would let that person that she and Ash were together either telling the ones who came to her or kissing Ash on the cheek while he stood rigid and stuttering at a girl who flirted with him.

They spent the rest of the day there enjoying the sun's warmth on their skin and the sounds of the seaside. Eventually they dried off, got changed and recalled their Pokémon as the sun started to set before walking back to the Pokémon Centre. Pikachu and Glaceon were slightly ahead of Ash and May padding along side by side, their flanks occasionally touching. Gardevoir and Lucario were behind the raven-haired trainer and his brunette companion talking quietly with their arms linked.

A few minutes later they arrived at the Pokemon Centre, Ash returned Gardevoir and Lucario, passing their Pokéballs to Nurse Joy along with his others. May passed her Pokéballs over as well, Pikachu and Glaceon leapt onto the counter and then down to the floor on the other side following Nurse Joy after she picked up all the Pokéballs on the counter.

Ash and May then went up to their room to get showered, once they had cleaned the saltwater and sand off they changed into smarter clothes then their usual attire. While at the beach Ash had told May he would take her out for dinner to celebrate her performance during the Contest. It was actually Gardevoir's idea for Ash to do this, she also told Ash not to tell May that fact.

When they were ready Ash was wearing the same black short sleeved shirt he wore on their date in Cerulean City and his usual jeans, May was wearing an orange short sleeved blouse and a black knee length skirt. They left their room and asked Nurse Joy to keep an eye on their Pokémon while they were out. Nurse Joy agreed saying that their Pokémon would be well looked after, they left after Ash warned Nurse Joy that Lucario would probably try and escape from the Pokémon Centre to follow them. Nurse Joy nodded and said she'd keep a close eye on him so he wouldn't ruin their evening.

Ash and May walked along the beachfront looking at the various restaurants until one took their fancy, it was called Portly Vista, an all you can eat buffet. They went in and after a couple minutes wait were seated by a window looking out over the beach and ocean. A waitress came over and took their drink order before directing them to the buffet. Ash and May returned to their table with plates piled high with food of every kind imaginable, they drew stares from staff and customers alike but ignored them as they sat down to eat.

While they ate Ash and May discussed what they wanted to do over the couple of days they were staying in Porta Vista for. There was a Funfair on a pier which they decided to spend the following day at and on the last day they would do whatever they felt like doing. Ash wanted to exchange him Pokémon around and try a couple of new training ideas he'd had, May was going to do the same to try and find some new Contest combinations. This didn't mean they were going to spend the whole of their last day training, they wanted to relax as well it was only going to be a short period of time before letting their Pokémon rest. Ash especially wanted to make sure that Butterfree had some rest given the amount of training it sounded like the bug and flying type was doing.

As they spoke the piles of food on their plates disappeared and they went back to the buffet to get more food. Ash and May stayed there for a few hours just eating, talking and enjoying each others company, there was one thing that neither of them noticed when they walked to the buffet they were holding hands and a lot of the time they spent sat at their table talking their hands were connected across the table. After a few hours and more then a few platefuls of food Ash and May left the restaurant with Ash paying the bill, refusing May's offer of paying half. They then walked along the seafront, arms linked, enjoying the cool sea air and fading sunlight on the horizon, they didn't speak much just enjoying the walk and the sunset. May sighed and leaned against Ash resting her head on his shoulder, a sweet smile on her lips, Ash looked at her and couldn't suppress the smile that came onto his lips. Eventually they made their way back to the Pokémon Centre, collecting their Pokémon from Nurse Joy. May noticed that the pink haired nurse looked a little flustered.

"Is everything alright Nurse Joy?" She asked.

"Yes, everything is fine, though you weren't lying when you said Lucario would try to escape." Nurse Joy said with a sigh before she let out a quiet giggle. "He's quite a handful, in the end Glaceon and Pikachu restrained him."

"How'd they do that?" Ash asked.

"Pikachu knocked him over with Iron Tail and Glaceon used Ice Beam to shackle him to the ground. Eventually Gardevoir managed to convince Lucario to stay here till you returned, they've been sitting together quietly for about an hour now."

"Thanks for looking after them Nurse Joy and I'm sorry for how Lucario was acting." Ash said apologetically, Nurse Joy smiled at him.

"It's okay, I can understand a Pokémon wanting to be with their trainer. I'll bring them out for you now." Nurse Joy replied before turning around and walking through the doorway behind her desk, she returned a few minutes later carrying 12 Pokéballs and followed by Gardevoir and Lucario, who had their arms linked. Pikachu was sat on Lucario's shoulder while Glaceon was carried in by Gardevoir, Ash and May thanked Nurse Joy and Ash told Lucario to apologise for the way he'd acted. When they'd gotten back to their room May asked Gardevoir a question.

"Why were you carrying Glaceon? Is she ill?"

"Glaceon is in perfect health Mistress May, she just felt a little sleepy so I offered to carry her." Gardevoir replied, Glaceon jumped out of the psychic type's arms and trotted over to May. The Fresh Snow Pokémon rubbed up against the brunette's leg to shoe that she was alright and sorry for worrying her trainer. May crouched down and picked Glaceon up bringing her into a loving hug, May stroked the icy blue fur of her Pokémon while Glaceon licked her cheek making her giggle. Ash smiled at the display of love between the two of them and looked at Pikachu.

"I don't have to ask Lucario why you're on his shoulder, I already know you're lazy." He smirked, as Pikachu frowned at him before leaping at Ash with his cheeks sparking. Pikachu landed on Ash's face knocking him off balance and sending him to the ground, the electric type then released a low powered electrical field over Ash. The electrical field caused Ash to start laughing hysterically, the slight charge that passed through him was tickling his nerves and wouldn't stop. Ash had tears in his eyes as he tried to dislodge Pikachu from his face but to no avail, eventually May intervened and with help from Glaceon they managed to get Pikachu to leave Ash alone on the promise of a slight increase on his Tomato Ketchup ration.

Ash and May got changed into their sleeping clothes and spent the rest of the night watching TV, laying next to each other with May resting her head on Ash's shoulder. They both wore peaceful smiles right through the night just because they were together, they weren't watching anything in particular just whatever caught their attention as they flicked through the channels. Pikachu and Glaceon were curled up in their laps while Lucario and Gardevoir sat on the other bed. Gardevoir had put a bit of distance between herself and Lucario thanks to something May had said earlier.

A little earlier

While Ash was getting showered and changed May asked Gardevoir if they could talk privately so the Embrace Pokémon formed a telepathic link with May.

"There's something I've been meaning to ask you." May said.

"What is that Mistress May?" Gardevoir replied.

"Is there something going on between you and Lucario? And please don't call me Mistress."

"Wh..Whatever do you mean Mistress May?" Gardevoir replied jumping slightly at the question.

"I mean I've seen you and Lucario walking together and you've always linked arms. I was just wondering if something was going on between you." A reddish tint slowly appeared on the psychic type's pale skin, turning her face a shade of pink. May knew then that she'd hit upon something, now she needed to dig a little to see what came to the surface.

"I admit I have…a fondness for Lucario but that is all. It is simply because he helped me adjust after everything that happened in my past. I know what you're attempting to do Mistress May but I am empathic by nature, I can sense your feelings along with those belonging to everyone in the building. Lucario sees me as family and I am happy to be that." May had listened carefully to what Gardevoir had said and replied with one question.

"Does Aura interfere with your abilities?"

"A little, why?"

"Just wondering if he could be hiding his emotions, you know, because you're empathic." Gardevoir just stared at May before shaking her head.

"Though he may be concealing his emotions from me, I know him well enough to say that friendship and the bonds of family are all he feels towards me. Even if I felt something other then those for him, he wouldn't return those feelings." Gardevoir replied, a hint of sadness underlying her words.

"Okay, I'll drop the subject. That's all I wanted to say." Gardevoir was about to break the telepathic connection when May said one final thing. "It's just that Lucario looked happier then I'd ever seen him when you two had arms linked up." The Embrace Pokémon broke the connection between herself and May leaving them in silence as they waited for Ash to come out of the bathroom.

Meanwhile

While May was questioning Gardevoir, Ash had enclosed himself in a soundproof sphere of Aura so he couldn't be heard. He had messaged Adam's Pokégear while May was getting showered saying he needed to talk to him face to face and now had an X-Transceiver so he could video chat, Adam had messaged Ash back saying he was at the Pokémon Centre close to the Ruins of Alph. As soon as Ash had closed the bathroom door and encased himself in Aura he called the Pokémon Centre, quickly getting through to his friend.

"Hey Ash, what's up?" Adam said quizzically, usually when Ash called it was just to his Pokégear.

"I need your help." Ash replied.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know, I'm having this weird feeling in my chest and to be honest it's freaking me out." Ash was starting to sound a little panicked.

"Alright, just take a breath and calm down. When you're ready, tell me what's happened." Adam replied calmly. Ash took a few deep breaths before speaking again, Adam waited patiently to hear what his friend had to say. Once he'd calmed down Ash started to explain what he'd been feeling and what had happened since Adam had left himself and May, leaving out the events with Mewtwo in the forest. While Ash was speaking Umbreon appeared on the screen, leaping into Adam's lap. After a few minutes Ash finished talking and waited to see what Adam had to say.

"I only have one thing to ask you Ash and I need you to answer honestly. This feeling you're having, do you like it?" Adam asked, stroking the pitch black fur of the Moonlight Pokémon in his lap.

"I think so, maybe." Ash said hesitantly, Adam sighed and shook his head.

"There's no think, no maybe, it's a yes or no question. Do you like that feeling?" Adam asked again more forcefully. Ash was silent while he thought, eventually he had his answer.

"Yes." He whispered, Adam smiled, "Why are you smiling, what does it mean?"

"It means you're growing up." Another voice said, a head of blonde hair appeared at the side of the screen. "Hi Ash."

"Hi Cynthia, er, how much of that did you hear?" Ash asked.

"Pretty much all of it." Ash dropped his head, embarrassed. Cynthia smiled at him. "Don't worry about it Ash, your secret's safe with us."

"What do I do though?"

"Just stay the way you are and enjoy the feeling."

"But what's the feeling?" Ash asked starting to get a little angry.

"We can't tell you that. The answer will come in time" Cynthia said.

"Why won't anyone tell me what's happening to me?" Ash nearly shouted.

"Because you need to grow up." Ash just stared at the screen, shocked by what Adam had said. "Sorry Ash but you needed to hear that, you're still stuck in the same frame of mind you've been in since you started your journey. Pokémon, training, badges and nothing else, that's all you've thought about, there's a lot more in this world then Pokémon and you need to realize it. Ash, most people your age already have a good idea of what they want to do with their life, a job, a family, they have an outline for where they want their future to go but the furthest you think is the next battle."

"You can't really talk much." Cynthia said shoving Adam's shoulder, Adam shuffled over so Cynthia could sit in front of the screen. "You've only recently got a real, and if I can say very beautiful, girlfriend yourself."

"That's all very true but that doesn't mean I didn't think of the future." Adam replied looking the champion in the eye. "You appeared quite a lot." Cynthia blushed, Adam turned back to the screen. "Look Ash I know I'm being harsh then but you really do need to think about your future, past becoming a Pokémon Master. You have a lot of friends and from what you've told me they're closer to being your family, ask them for advice and help if you need it. Start with May seeing as she's there with you and do what you always do in a Pokémon battle, trust your instincts." Umbreon lifted his head up and said something to Adam, causing him to look at his watch. "Ash, we've got to go. Cynthia's only got a couple of days left before she has to go back to Sinnoh and she wants to take a look at the Dragon's Den Shrine in Blackthorn City. To be honest I'm getting anxious to challenge the Sinnoh Battle Frontier, if you want to talk again you know how to contact me. See you around."

"Bye Ash." Cynthia said.

"Bye Cynthia, Adam…and thanks."

"No problem." Adam said with a slight smile. Ash ended the call and quickly got changed and left the bathroom.

Back to the present

As Ash and May flicked through the TV channels they thought about the conversations they'd just had. May wondered how long it would take Ash to return her feelings and whether she was right about Gardevoir and Lucario, while Ash did as Adam and Cynthia suggested. He enjoyed the feeling that warmed his soul and caused his nerves to tingle as he gave a little thought to his future.

After a couple of hours Ash looked down at May and saw that she'd fallen asleep. He slowly and carefully moved her head from his shoulder picking her up bridal style and carrying her over to her own bed. Lucario and Gardevoir rose from May's bed, Gardevoir pulling the covers back as she stood and Ash placed the brunette into bed before covering her up again. May turned onto her side and curled into a ball while she slept, Ash smiled down at her and went to turn off the TV off when he heard May mumble something. He went back over to the bed and leant close to try and hear what May had said, he could see a smile on her lips as she slept peacefully and moved a little closer. At that moment Gardevoir gave May a small Psychic push causing her to turnover, this combined with Ash moving closer caused their lips to touch. Ash tried to move back but Gardevoir once again used her abilities to make it harder for Ash to pull out of the kiss. Just as Gardevoir started to release her hold on Ash she saw something she never expected, Ash stopped trying to get out of the kiss and moved his hand to May's face cupping her cheek, as his eyes drifted closed. In her shock the Embrace Pokémon stopped using her abilities, her eyes widened as did the eyes of the other Pokémon in the room, a couple of seconds after her hold disappeared Ash moved out of the kiss unconsciously stroking May's cheek with his thumb. When he opened his eyes and looked at May's face he saw a smile cross her lips.

"Goodnight May, Sweet dreams" He whispered as he felt the warmth in his chest burn a little stronger than before, he'd done what Adam and Cynthia had suggested and trusted his instincts. He turned off the TV and climbed into his bed, letting darkness overtake the room and the stunned Pokémon. Gardevoir was the first to snap back to reality and she brought the others out of their stupors. Pikachu and Glaceon jumped on to their trainer's beds and curled up next to them, Lucario moved to lean against a wall while Gardevoir settled into an armchair that sat in the corner of the room.

There was something that none of them knew, except for one, when Gardevoir had given May the small nudge to turn her over the Co-Ordinator had woken slightly from her sleep. Not thinking anything of it May kept her eyes closed to try and go back to sleep but when Ash's lips made contact with hers she was instantly awake but not wanting to interrupt the kiss she pretended to be asleep to see what Ash would do. She felt Ash trying to pull back and was confused as to why he couldn't, she suspected that Gardevoir had a part in it but wasn't sure. After the kiss has ended she couldn't suppress the smile that came to her. When May heard Ash getting into bed, she waited a few minutes before opening her eyes and raising her head from the pillow. Her smile grew as she lay her head back down, the room was soon filled with the soft sound of light breaths and they all drifted into a restful slumber, each with their own dreams of what was to come.

Next Day

Ash and May woke up shortly after 9 o'clock, they decided to only do a light work out before breakfast. Once they'd gotten changed and left their room with their Pokémon in tow. While they were getting ready Ash and May agreed not to go to the beach and just exercise on the fields behind the Pokémon Centre. It started out like usual, both trainers released their Pokémon before stretching and loosening their muscles so they could move on to their basic exercises. Crunches, sit ups, press ups along with a number of others, the Pokémon were doing their own exercises. Some were running laps around the field, other were using the training equipment around the field to exercise i.e. lifting weights, testing each other's strength by using a rope for Tug of War and a few were training against each other doing some light sparring.

They trained like this for just over half an hour before returning to their room, showering and changing into their casual clothes. Ash was wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans while May had put on a pink t-shirt and white knee length skirt. When they were ready Ash and May went down to the Pokémon Centre's cafeteria passing their Pokémon over to Nurse Joy so they could be looked over. After eating they collected the Pokémon from Nurse Joy Glaceon, Gardevoir and Lucario releasing themselves as soon as Ash's and May's hands made contact with their Pokéballs.

Together the group left the Pokémon Centre and started walking to the pier that held the Fun Fair. After walking for a few minutes they arrived at the gates of the fair and walked up to the ticket booth.

"Two please." Ash said, paying the man in the booth and passing a ticket to May. They wandered around at first just to see what was available to do before deciding where to start but when May saw an arcade she ran right to it dragging Ash behind her, the Pokémon followed them as their trainers started to disappear into the crowds. May giggled madly while swinging a mallet wildly as she played Whack-a-Drilbur, a couple of times Ash had to jump back to dodge the hammer as May brought it back for another attack. May won a few prize tickets from the game and moved onto the next one, then the next and the next until after a couple of hours she'd played all the games she wanted and exchanged her prize tickets for a stuffed doll, a Manaphy to be exact. Ash played a few of the games as well and with his prize tickets, he chose another stuffed doll, a Mime Jr, which he was going to send home to him mom.

Even the Pokémon played a few games, Pikachu and Glaceon played Whack-a-Drilbur using Iron Tail but not at its usual strength. Gardevoir had tried her luck with a one armed bandit and had to be guided gently away when it seemed that she was getting close to being addicted to the game. Finally there was Lucario who'd set new high score on the test your strength punching bag game though he did it accidentally, the punching bag had dropped down as he was walking past and out of reflex his fist shot out and hit the bag. Lucario kept walking as if nothing happened, not noticing the stares from the men surrounding the bag at what he'd just done.

The next stop they made was for a snack, Ash bought them some Candy Floss for himself and May along with some that was made especially for Pokémon for Pikachu, Glaceon, Garevoir and Lucario. Gardevoir used Psychic to hold the treat for Pikachu and Glaceon so they could eat it while they walked. After eating their Candy Floss they started to wander around all the different stalls occasionally they'd stop to take a closer look before continuing on their walk. They were just walking around to see where everything was then they'd go back to the places they wanted to play games or buy souvenirs. Some people they walked past recognized May from the Contest and asked if they could have her autograph, a few even asked if they could battle her. May politely turned down the battle offers and quickly signed the autographs with an embarrassed blush on her cheeks, even though she was well known as a Co-Ordinator and was unaffected by it on a stage she was uncomfortable being recognized when out in public. The news of Cynthia having a boyfriend had done the job of making everyone forget about who May was seen with back in Cerulean City.

It took them a couple of hours but they eventually managed to get through the crowds and see all of the Fun Fair, they went to get something to eat and plan where they wanted to go. While they ate they planned their route through the Fun Fair, they tried to make sure they'd have enough time between going on rides and eating from the food stalls they passed. Once they finished eating, Ash paid the bill telling May that she wasn't going to be paying for anything today as this was going to be his treat. May tried to argue the point saying she could pay her own way but Ash wouldn't let her so eventually she relented and gave him a quick peck on the lips to thank him.

The first place they went to was a shooting gallery, you had to use water pistols shaped like Clauncher to inflate a Qwilfish balloon the first person to do so won a prize. They both took hold of a water pistol each and aimed for their targets, when the signal to start was given they squeezed the triggers. It took them a few tries to get their aims right and to hold them steady but soon their Qwilfish started expand, Ash and May both came close to winning but another person managed to beat them by a couple of seconds.

They went to a couple of different stalls and stopped for a break because May needed to use the bathroom. While Ash waited for her he remembered seeing her staring at one of the prizes on a nearby stall, he told the Pokémon to wait for May and ran back to the stall.

The aim of the game at the stall was to get three balls into one of three baskets while obstacles moved around in front of it. Each basket was ringed in a different colour and had a different difficulty, the easiest basket only had a few slow moving obstacles, the next one had the same amount of obstacles but they moved faster while the last one had more obstacles which moved in sets of three with differing speeds each time they moved around the basket.

If you managed to get three balls into the red ringed basket you could choose one on the prizes on a low shelf, scoring in the silver ringed basket let you choose from the middle shelf of prizes and finally three balls into the gold ringed basket won a prize on the top shelf. The prize that May had seen was on the top shelf so Ash needed to aim for the gold ringed basket. Ash paid the man enough money for three chances and took careful aim. Even though he wanted to get back to the Pokémon before May did he needed to take him time and aim carefully, he was going to try and win on his first try but it was really just going to be a test to see how to score in the gold ringed basket.

His first throw bounced off one of the obstacles but still managed to drop into the gold ringed basket, the second shot was blocked completely and dropped to the ground and the final ball hit the rim of the basket and became stuck behind one of the obstacles. The man in charge of the stall retrieved the balls and handed them back to Ash.

"That's one, two more tries kid." He said in a raspy voice from smoking too many cigarettes. Ash just nodded in reply taking the balls back and once again took aim. He quickly sunk two of the balls into the gold ringed basket and saw that the obstacles were moving faster them before. "Guess you noticed, the more weight that goes into the baskets the faster, the obstacles move." The man explained. "You going to take your last shot or not?"

Ash stared at the basket, watching the obstacles carefully, waiting to see the pattern of movement. He took a slow breath to settle his nerves and letting his mind slip into a state of stillness, like it does when he meditates. He threw the ball flicking his wrist as it left his hand, adding some backspin, he watched as the ball neared the basket clearing the ring of obstacles. Ash groaned as he saw the ball hit the rim of the basket and bounce away from the opening but the obstacles swung around behind the basket deflecting the ball back to its intended target. The ball dropped right into the basket, Ash's jaw dropped as the man chuckled.

"You're the first person to do that for a long time kid, alright what prize do you want?" The man asked rising from his stool, Ash brought himself out of his daze and pointed to the prize that May had been staring at. The man reached up and brought the prize, handing it over. Ash took a closer look at the prize, it was a silver necklace with a metal pendant. The pendant itself was in the shape of a familiar Pokémon which had a light blue body with a small red oval on the chest and dark blue eyes outlined in yellow, it was a Manaphy. Ash could understand why May wanted this prize so much, it was the same reason he'd bought her the crystal figure from the Regions Festival and why she chose the stuffed doll earlier. She never said it but he could tell that she still missed Manaphy, even after so many years apart she'd never really recovered from having to say goodbye to the young Seafaring Pokémon. Ash thanked the man and left the stall giving his last attempt to a boy who was waiting to have his own turn.

Ash got back to the Pokémon and just had enough time to hide the necklace in his pocket before May came out of the bathroom. While she was in there she'd touched up the little make up she was wearing and fixed her hair. She walked up to Ash and linked arms with him, they then started to make to their way through the fair again. They stopped at the various stalls playing games and buying things, eventually they stopped and sat on a bench to rest their feet.

"So Ash, are you enjoying yourself?" May asked, turning to look at Ash while stroking Glaceon's fur as the ice type lay in her lap.

"Yeah I am, why?" Ash asked in reply.

"It's just you seem a little distracted." May was right since Ash had won the necklace he'd been trying to think of a way to give it to her so his attention had been split.

"It's nothing, I'm just trying to remember what the next place I went with Brock and Misty was."

"Well don't worry about that now, we can call them tomorrow and ask what the next place is, now come on." May said getting off the bench and grabbing Ash's hands. "I want to have some more fun." She pulled him off the bench and laughed as she dragged him back into the crowds of people, making her way to the nearest ride. The Pokémon looked at each other and smiled before running after their trainers.

When they caught up Ash and May were each stepping into a Dodgem car, once they'd sat down and buckled in the man in charge of the ride turned on the power. Ash and May were soon turning wildly trying to evade other people, May would occasionally glance over her shoulder and see Ash still chasing her making her giggle madly and squeal. Ash had a devilish grin on his face as he pursued May sometimes having to brake sharply to avoid someone else. After a couple of minutes someone collided head on with May while she was looking back at Ash because her head was turned it hit the pipe attached to the back of the car, dazing her. Ash was what happened and noticed someone else coming in to smash into the side of May's car, he reacted flooring the pedal Ash's car sped forward as he swerved to the left.

May shook her head trying to get rid of the stars that dotted her vision, she saw another car coming to hit her but was still too dazed to moved when another car slammed into the car coming towards her. May focused her gaze at the driver of the second car and recognized the familiar face, just as she was coming out of her daze an alarm buzzed and all the Dodgem cars slowed down as their power faded.

Ash got out of his car quickly and went to May, helping her out of her car and away from the ride to a nearby bench. When he sat her down Gardevoir and Lucario each used Heal Pulse on her, after a minute her mind cleared and stopped aching. Ash told May to stay where she was before rising from the bench, he ran to the closest food stall and bought a bottle of water before running back to the bench. He sat down, handing the bottle over to May, she took it thanking him and opened it. She drank a mouthful of the cool liquid and started to feel better, they stayed seated for a while until May felt better and then they continued to walk around the fair taking their time.

They played a few more games but stayed away from the rides for a little while, there was a rollercoaster full of screaming people but May wasn't a big fan of rollercoasters so they gave it a miss and went on to other rides like the Helter Skelter. Throughout the rest of their day they played games like Hook A Ducklett and went on rides that took their fancy along with eating a lot of junk food, at one point they passed the stall where Ash had won the necklace. May was going to try and win it but stopped when she saw that it wasn't on the top shelf anymore, she asked the man on the stall where it had gone but a look from Ash told the man it was going to be a surprise so he just said that someone had come and won it.

The last thing they did before leaving was go on the Ferris Wheel, Lucario, Gardevoir, Pikachu and Glaceon stayed on the ground while Ash and May slowly rose into the air. As they got higher and higher they pointed out different stalls that they'd been to that day, when the Ferris Wheel stopped at the top Ash and May looked out over the ocean at the setting sun. May looped her arm around Ash's and rested her head on his shoulder sighing with a content smile on her lips, Ash smiled as he watched the sunset. They stayed there for a few minutes before the Ferris Wheel moved again gradually bringing them back to the ground.

Once they got off the Ferris Wheel they made their way out of the Fun Fair and back to the Pokémon Centre. As they walked Ash started to think about how he could give May the necklace, he eventually decided to wing it and do it when it felt right. A few minutes later they arrived at the Pokémon Centre and went straight to their room, normally they would've had something to eat but having been buying junk food all day they didn't feel like eating anything else yet. May went to wash her face as soon as they entered their room which gave Ash an idea, he slipped the necklace out of his pocket and placed it on May's pillow. Once he'd done that he slipped out of his jeans and into his sweatpants just to make himself feel comfier, he picked up the T.V remote and started to flick through the channels. He soon found one showing the Unova Clubsplosion, a smile crossed his face when he saw a Nidoking battling and recognized the purple haired trainer behind the poison and ground type.

He continued watching the match quickly becoming engrossed and silently cheering on Paul when he was tackled from the side by May, before he could react May kissed his on the lips and jumped back.

"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you." She chanted happily jumping around while looking at the necklace in her hands. Ash put a hand on his bed, hauling himself off the floor and onto his feet. A small smile came to his face as May came into view, she was still jumping around the room giggling to herself. "When did you get it?"

"When you went to the bathroom, I only just managed to get back before you came out." Ash explained.

"This is the thing that had you distracted earlier isn't it?" Ash sat on the bed and chuckled as he scratched his head.

"Yeah, you got me there. I was trying to think of a way to give you the necklace, I wanted it to be a surprise." May jumped onto the bed, landing next to Ash and pecked him on the lips.

"Well it was a surprise, a really nice one. Thank you Ash." May said smiling at him, her smile faltered slightly she tried to hide it but Ash saw it.

"May, what's wrong?" He asked. "I thought you liked the necklace."

"There's nothing wrong it's just feel bad, I didn't get you anything."

"You don't need too."

"You keep doing things for me but I haven't done anything for you, it's not fair to you."

"May," Ash said putting a hand on hers, "You don't need to do anything for me. I like doing things for you, you're my friend."

"But I really want to do something for you."

"Fine then let me think of something." Ash was silent for a couple of minutes as he thought. "Okay, I know what you can do for me."

"What's that?"

"Cheer me on for my Gym battles and the Indigo Conference."

"Ash, I'd do that anyway. Think of something else."

"No, that's the only thing I want you to do."

"But…"

"No buts, that the only thing I'm asking for." Ash said firmly, May tried for a few more minutes to try and get Ash to choose something else. She even used her infamously powerful puppy dog eyes but Ash wouldn't look at her, eventually she gave up.

"Get changed."

"What?"

"Get changed, we're going out to eat and before you even think of it I'm paying."

"But May…"

"Ah, ah, ah no buts. I'm paying and that's that, now go and get changed into some nice clothes." May said, daring Ash to argue which he wisely didn't. Ash picked his bag up from the floor and pulled out a black short sleeved shirt, he then got off the bed and walked into the bathroom to get changed. May smiled in triumph and went to her bag lifting out a clean blouse, she'd already gotten washed so she walked to the window and closed the curtains. She put her ear to the bathroom door, making sure that Ash wasn't going to come out within the next couple of minutes. She then quickly stripped herself of the t-shirt she was wearing and put on the blouse, as she finished doing up the buttons she heard the bathroom door opening, she looked over her shoulder and saw Ash coming out now wearing his shirt.

They then went to a nearby restaurant and after a bit of convincing Ash managed to persuade Lucario and Gardevoir to return to their Pokéballs, Pikachu and Glaceon were allowed in the restaurant due to them being small Pokémon. They went inside and were seated at a table by the window like they had been the day before after a few minutes wait. The waiter that lead them to their seats gave them each a menu and took their drinks order, when he returned Ash and May gave him their order and started to talk about their plans for the next day and for the rest of their journey through Kanto. They continued their conversation after their food arrived and while they ate. Their dinner passed quickly and when the bill arrived May snatched it up before Ash could even attempt to reach out for it.

After she'd paid they slowly walked back to the Pokémon Centre, enjoying the smell of the ocean on the cool sea breeze. Lucario and Gardevoir released themselves from their Pokéballs when they sensed that they were no longer in the restaurant. When they got back to their room they watched TV for a while before deciding to call it a night.

The Next Day

Ash and May repeated their routine from the previous morning waking up around 9 o'clock and doing a light workout, after getting washed and changed they went to get breakfast. While they were getting changed they'd put their swimming costumes on under their clothes as they'd decided to go to the beach. They finished their breakfast and went to the Vid-Phones, they sat down in front of one and dialled the number for Professor Oak's lab.

"Hello, Oak Research Facilities." Tracey said answering the call before turning on the video function. "Oh, hi Ash, May what can I do for you?"

"Hi Tracey, we wanted to swap out some of the Pokémon we have." May replied.

"Okay just tell me which Pokémon you'd like me to get for you."

"Could you get Flaffy, Froslass and Cubone for me please?"

"I want to take Butterfree, Talonflame and Meowth if he's finished with whatever he was building." Ash added.

"Sure, just give me a few minutes to get them. Meowth has finished with his machine but hasn't told us what it is, he did say that it would make training for you and May a bit easier though."

"Hey, is that Ash?" A familiar voice asked, Tracey turned to look over his shoulder. As he did so Ash and May could see Meowth standing there holding a small machine in his paws. The machine was rectangular with rounded edges and about the size of a X-Transceiver but slightly thicker, there was a small hinged door on the front and a clip on the back.

"Yeah, it is. I was about to come and find you, Ash wants you to go back to his team."

"I was just about to ask if he could do that. There's one last test I need to do for this thing, can you grab the Prof so I can explain what this is?"

"I'll be right back." Tracey said before running out of the room excitedly, he was anxious to know what it was Meowth had been building and knew that Professor Oak was too. He came back into the room a minute later with the Professor on his heels.

"All right, I know that everyone wants to know what I've been building. Well, this is it." Meowth said holding up the machine between his paws. "I can't think of a good name for it so for now it's called a Transfer Capsule or TC for short. It'll let you change your Pokémon without having to be in a Pokémon Centre, you just need to have a way of contacting whoever looks after your Pokémon. All you have to do it call them, put the shrunken Pokéball in the capsule and the person on the other end of the call initiates the transfer. The transfer network covers everywhere in each region, so as long as the person who looks after your Pokémon has the code for the Transfer Capsule they can always sent them to you."

"That's amazing." May said.

"Yeah, that's great Meowth." Ash added. Tracey agreed with Ash and Professor Oak's mouth dropped open.

"How did you manage to get all the components into such a small casing?" Professor Oak asked.

"I swapped nearly all the wires for fibreoptics, that allowed more and faster functions while taking up less space, I had to find a way of shrinking the circuits down without losing anything really important and the rest was just mostly casings. The hardest part was making the transfer pad small enough, that's why it'll only work with shrunken Pokéballs normal sized ones would need the full size pad." Meowth explained trying to use language that everyone would understand, knowing that Ash wouldn't follow his explanation otherwise. "There's one last test I need to run on it, it works with empty Pokéballs and Pokéballs containing items but I don't know whether it will work with actual Pokémon. That's why I want to send it to Ash then get transferred to him through it."

"Meowth you can't do that, there's no way to know whether it will work or not." Professor Oak argued with everyone else backing him up.

"All the test runs I've done have worked this is the only way to know whether it will really work, I'm not going to risk another Pokémon when I can do it myself." Meowth stated firmly, showing he wasn't going to move on the subject. There were a few minutes of silence until Ash broke it.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" He asked, Meowth nodded and Ash sighed. "Alright then, let's do this. I don't want you to get hurt but I can tell you're not going to back down."

"I'll go and get the Pokémon you asked for." Tracey said rising from his seat and leaving the room. Professor Oak wore a look of disapproval and slowly shook his head before speaking.

"I don't like the idea of this." He said, "However if this is what Meowth wishes to do then I'll allow it." A few minutes later Tracey came back with six Pokéballs, of which only five were filled. The Pokémon Watcher opened one of the Pokéballs, releasing May's Cubone.

"I thought Cubone might be the best one to carry your invention, Flaffy being an electric type could damage it with the static electricity in her fleece and Froslass' ice might mess with the electronics." Tracey said. Meowth agreed stating that Butterfree and Talonflame wouldn't be able to hold it securely either.

"Cu Cubone Bone?" Asked the Lonely Pokémon.

"I just need you to hold this then give it to Ash." Meowth explained.

"Cu?"

"Oh that's right you haven't met him yet. Ash is the guy next to May." Meowth pointed at the screen of the Vid-Phone, Cubone looked at the screen and saw Ash wave at her. "Now be careful with this." The Scratch Cat Pokémon said handing the Transfer Capsule to Cubone. Once Cubone had a secure grip on the device Tracey returned her to her Pokéball.

Professor Oak then transferred the Pokémon over to Ash and May receiving their Pokémon in return. Ash sent Grimm, Typhlosion and Houndour while May sent Lilligant, Mienshao and Delcatty. Ash wanted Houndour and Grimm to train with his other Pokémon to learn new moves and practice battling against his other Pokémon to help them dodge by instinct.

When Cubone's Pokéball appeared May opened it, letting the small ground type out. Cubone held the Transfer Capsule out for Ash to take, Ash accepted it thanking her as he did.

"Now what do we do?" Ash asked.

"You don't need to do anything except wait. Professor Oak just needs to input the destination code and transfer my Pokéball." Meowth said handing the Professor a piece of paper before tapping his Pokéball and disappearing in a cloud of red pixels. Tracey picked up the Pokéball, pushed the button to shrink it down and placed it on the transfer machine at the Lab while Professor Oak input the destination code.

"Everything's ready now to see what happens." The elderly professor said, his hand hovering over the switch for a few seconds as he hesitated before finally initiating the transfer. Meowth's Pokéball disappeared in a flash of white light, a few seconds later Ash felt the Transfer Capsule vibrate slightly and beep, he opened the door taking out the shrunken Pokéball. He enlarged it and opened it, Meowth coalesced out of a bright light.

The Scratch Cat Pokémon shook his head and took in his surroundings for a minute before looking at Ash and May.

"Are you okay?" May asked feeling concerned.

"Yeah, I think so." Meowth replied, "Everything's were it should be, it was a bit of a rough ride though. I know how to fix that though, I just need a screwdriver and it'll be fixed no problem."

"Meowth, if you have any blueprints of that machine then you might want to patent them and Ash, May if I were you I wouldn't let anyone know about the Transfer Capsule." Professor Oak said, Tracey could be seen in the background nodding. Ash and May agreed, Ash clipped the TC to his belt so it would be hidden by his jacket and be kept safe. Meowth told Professor Oak where he kept the blueprints for the TC and the Professor said he would patent them for him with the League to keep the plans safe. "By registering the Transfer Capsule with the League it'll be kept a secret though they might want to make some for Champions and members of the Elite Four in each region." The Professor explained. "I will however need to register it under my name as I don't know how they'll react to a Pokémon let alone a former member of Team Rocket building such a device."

"That's alright, it'll make a difference from my machine causing trouble. If the League asks about it just tell them I made it and if they want I can come and tell them how I made it." Meowth said. "I've got nothing to hide now." Professor Oak nodded in agreement.

"Oh, before I forget Typhlosion's holding a present for my mom." Ash said remembering that he'd asked the fire type starter to give the Mime Jr doll to his mom.

Ash and May spoke to Professor Oak for a couple of minutes before ending the call. May returned Cubone to her Pokéball and then the group made their way to the beach, before leaving Ash borrow the Pokémon Centre's kitchen with Nurse Joy's permission and made a quick picnic for the two of them and their Pokémon.

They arrived at the beach a few minutes later and released their Pokémon telling them that this was going a day to relax and have fun. May stripped down to her swimming costume and went swimming, Pikachu and Lucario started to organize a game of Defend the Castle but May's Froslass didn't move she just watched as Ash set up an umbrella for shade. When he'd finished Froslass floated over to him and tapped him on the leg, Ash jumped a little at the sudden chill that passed through him before turning and kneeling down to Froslass' level.

"Lass Lass Froslass." She said. Lucario saw that Ash was having trouble understanding the Snow Land Pokémon and walked over to act as a translator.

Froslass asks if you remember her. The Aura Pokémon explained, Ash though for a few minutes to try and remember where and when he'd met a Froslass.

"Are you the Froslass I met in Sinnoh?" He asked.

"Fros Fros Lass."

No but you are close.

"I'm sorry but I don'…" Ash paused as he remembered another Pokémon from his encounter with a Froslass. "You're the Snorunt that the poacher was after." Froslass smiled and nodded showing Ash he was right. Froslass stayed under the umbrella to stay out of the sun and talked with Meowth while the normal type tinkered with the Transfer Capsule, using a small tool kit that Ash carried around in his bag in case he needed it. Ash asked May how she'd caught Froslass as they helped the Pokémon finish setting up for Defend the Castle. May told him that she'd met Froslass a little over a year earlier as a Snorunt and helped her find a Dawn Stone, once they'd found one and Snorunt had used it to evolve the now dual ice and ghost type wanted to battle May. It was a tough match but May had won and Froslass had been captured. May then explained that Cubone had joined her team not long after going to Sinnoh, just outside of Jubilife City.

They all spent the day playing, swimming and relaxing, Ash made sure that Butterfree spent a lot of time relaxing after hearing about all the training he'd been doing. Ash had a couple of battle with other people on the beach and a childrens birthday party a little further down the beach asked May to put on a small contest appeal which she did. They eventually left the beach as the sun started to set returning the Butterfree, Flaffy, Froslass, Talonflame and Cubone to their Pokéballs. Meowth had finished adjusting the Transfer Capsule and had Ash test it again by sending Meowth to Professor Oak and then calling him back, this time the transfer went smoothly and Meowth told Professor Oak where to make the adjustments on the blueprints.

Lucario and Gardevoir walked behind Ash and May, with their arms linked once again, Pikachu and Glaceon were in front of the group and Meowth walked alongside Ash. Ash and May were chatting to each other not noticing the fact that their fingers were intertwined and their faces were only inches apart. They returned to the Pokémon Centre and went straight to their room to get cleaned due to the salt water and sand from the beach, May went to shower first before exiting a little while later wearing a pink t-shirt and black shorts. Ash went in and came out after a few minutes rubbing his hair with a towel clothed in a black t-shirt and grey shorts, they then each lay on their beds and watched TV. They snacked on some of the leftover food from the picnic until it was late and decided to call it a night. Pikachu curled up on Ash's bed as Glaceon did the same on May's, Lucario leaned against the wall, Gardevoir sat in the chair and Meowth lay down on the floor next to the chair.

The next morning when they woke up they went about their usual routine, getting changed into their training clothes and going out for a run before returning to the Pokémon Centre training fields and doing their exercises. Once finished they went back to their room got showered, changed into their travelling clothes, collected their things and went to the Pokémon Centre cafeteria after giving Nurse Joy their room key. When they'd eaten breakfast and fed their Pokémon Ash and May left the Pokémon Centre and made their way out of Porta Vista but they stopped at the beach first. Ash sent a pulse of Aura into the ocean and waited, after a minute a giant tentacle rose up from the water in front of him. Ash touched it and thanked the Giant Tentacruel for asking the Tentacool to steer clear of May while she swam in the ocean. May stepped forward and gingerly touched the tentacle before saying thank you to the Giant Tentacruel herself, once that was done and the tentacle disappeared back into the watery depths of the ocean Ash and May left Porta Vista behind and continued their journey around Kanto.

Their next destination Saffron City.
