The sun was shining brightly over Pallet Town as the day rolled on. Inside Ash Ketchum's home, a peaceful atmosphere lingered as Delia Ketchum prepared lunch in the kitchen. Ash, sitting at the table with Pikachu by his side, flipped through a new Pokémon magazine, distracted, but a little preoccupied. His mind kept wandering back to Esdeath. It had only been a few days since she'd made her declaration, and Ash's attempts to fend her off had proven... difficult, to say the least.

Despite his best efforts to resist, something about her determination, and the strange, yet oddly tender way she'd shown affection, kept him feeling disoriented. That, and the fact that she never seemed to back down. The way she looked at him—possessively, yet with a strange tenderness—made his stomach twist in ways he didn't fully understand.

Ash's thoughts were interrupted when the front door opened with a soft creak.

"Well, well, look who it is," Delia said, her warm voice carrying from the kitchen. "Esdeath, dear! I'm so glad you could join us today!"

Ash's head snapped toward the doorway, his heart skipping a beat. Standing there, as usual, was the towering figure of Esdeath, her icy blue gaze softened by a rare smile, though it still carried a hint of her usual arrogance. She was dressed casually today—well, as casually as someone like her could—wearing a soft, oversized sweater and a pair of jeans that accentuated her tall frame. She looked... different, somehow, more approachable, as if she was trying to blend into the normal world. Ash wasn't sure if he was relieved or even more confused by the sight of her.

"Good afternoon, Mrs. Ketchum," Esdeath said, her voice filled with a strange reverence as she walked inside, closing the door behind her. "I'm excited to learn how to cook from you today. I want to make sure Ash enjoys his meals. I want him to feel comfortable around me... and your cooking is legendary."

Ash's face immediately turned crimson as he felt the weight of Esdeath's gaze upon him. "Wait, hold on!" He scrambled to his feet. "What do you mean by that? I didn't—!"

"Don't worry, Ash," Esdeath interrupted, her voice smooth and teasing. "I'll be the best student today. I promise you."

Delia, on the other hand, only smiled brightly, oblivious to her son's discomfort. She wiped her hands on a dish towel and stepped toward Esdeath, her warmth and welcoming attitude only increasing the awkwardness Ash was feeling.

"Well, Esdeath, I'd be happy to teach you," Delia said, her eyes sparkling. "There's nothing better than a home-cooked meal to bring people together! It's one of the things I love most about cooking—sharing it with those you care about." She glanced over at Ash, who was now sitting back down, his face still pink from the sudden attention. "Don't you agree, dear?"

Ash stammered. "Uh, I mean, sure... but... Mom, you don't have to—"

"Nonsense!" Delia laughed, waving a hand. "Now, Esdeath, do you know how to make anything already? Or are you a complete beginner?"

Esdeath tilted her head slightly, considering the question. "I've cooked before," she said, her eyes narrowing slightly. "But my methods... are a little unorthodox. I'd love to learn something new, something that will really win Ash's heart."

Ash's eyes widened at her words, his stomach twisting in embarrassment. "W-Wait! You don't need to—!"

"Relax, dear," Delia said sweetly, placing a hand on Ash's shoulder. "Esdeath seems like she really cares about you. I'm happy to help her out."

Ash could only groan, hiding his face in his hands as Pikachu patted his head sympathetically.

Esdeath shot Ash a teasing look, her smile wide and playful. "Oh, I do care about him, Mrs. Ketchum. A lot. And I know that if I learn to cook the way you do, I'll have an edge with him."

Delia's expression softened at Esdeath's words, her eyes sparkling with understanding. "I can see that you really care about him, Esdeath. But you know, Ash does have some very particular tastes when it comes to food. It's important to get it just right if you want him to appreciate it."

Ash groaned again, wishing the ground would swallow him whole.

"Mom, don't embarrass me like this!" he muttered under his breath, but Delia only laughed gently.

"Nonsense! If you want to be with Ash, you need to get to know him completely!" Delia said, winking at Esdeath. "And that includes knowing what kind of food he likes."

Esdeath turned her eyes to Ash, the mischievous glint never leaving them. "Oh, I'm sure I can figure it out. I'm a fast learner."

"W-What are you talking about?" Ash stammered again, feeling his face burn hotter than before. "Mom, stop saying stuff like that!"

Esdeath's grin widened as she took a seat at the kitchen table, placing her hands on her lap. "I think we should get started with something simple, Mrs. Ketchum. How about one of Ash's favorites?"

Delia beamed, walking over to the stove to check on the food she had been preparing. "Ash's favorite? Oh, that's easy! He loves my homemade dumplings! I make them all the time when he's home. You'll learn how to make them in no time!"

Ash's stomach immediately churned at the mention of dumplings. His mom's homemade dumplings were one of his absolute favorites. And now Esdeath was going to be making them for him? He could already picture her towering over the stove, wielding her icy powers to make perfect dumplings with the kind of confidence that made Ash want to crawl under the table.

As Delia started gathering the ingredients, she turned to Esdeath with a playful glint in her eye. "You know, Ash really does have good taste when it comes to girls, don't you think? I always knew he'd find someone special one day. And, well..." She paused, glancing toward her son with a mischievous smile, "I have to say, you're quite the catch, Esdeath."

Esdeath, ever confident, smiled back. "Thank you, Mrs. Ketchum. I plan to keep Ash close, and I believe we'll make a great team."

Ash, on the other hand, nearly choked on his own spit. His face was a bright shade of red now, and he was desperately trying to ignore the way Esdeath's eyes were fixated on him. "I-I don't think... Mom, please, stop! This is so embarrassing!"

Delia laughed, not missing a beat. "Don't worry, Ash. I just want to see you happy. And I can see you're starting to really enjoy spending time with Esdeath."

"I'm not... I mean, we're not..." Ash sputtered, looking from his mom to Esdeath in a state of panic.

Esdeath's icy gaze softened as she stood up to help Delia with the ingredients, though her grin remained teasing. "Don't worry, Ash. You'll get used to it. I'm going to make you the best dumplings you've ever had."

Delia, still stirring the dumpling dough, gave her son a knowing look. "You know, Ash, this could be a good opportunity for you to relax and enjoy yourself. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks. You deserve it."

Ash slouched in his chair, feeling completely out of place. "Mom, can you not do this in front of her? This is so awkward..."

But Esdeath only winked at him, her smirk never wavering. "Relax, Ash. I'm sure you'll come to appreciate everything soon enough."

Ash sighed, resigning himself to the chaos of the moment. The cooking lesson was going to take a lot longer than he expected, especially with Esdeath so determined to win his mom's approval.

The kitchen in Ash Ketchum's house was filled with the hum of activity as Delia and Esdeath worked side by side. Delia, ever the cheerful and attentive host, showed Esdeath the basics of dumpling preparation, expertly folding the dough while explaining her own little tricks to make them extra special. Esdeath, though a quick learner, seemed almost too focused on the task. She paid close attention to every detail, her usual icy demeanor softened in the warmth of Delia's hospitality.

Meanwhile, Ash was sitting at the kitchen table, squirming uncomfortably in his seat, trying desperately to ignore the scene unfolding before him. Pikachu sat beside him, munching on a snack, clearly more at ease than Ash was.

"Pika pika!" Pikachu chimed, glancing at Ash, his tail flicking side to side. It was almost as if he could sense the unease radiating off his trainer.

Ash ran a hand through his hair, his gaze flicking between Delia and Esdeath. His mom was clearly enjoying herself, chatting away with Esdeath like they'd known each other for years. Meanwhile, Esdeath was... too focused on impressing Delia, moving with a precision that made Ash feel even more anxious.

It was the little things that made him uncomfortable. The way Esdeath would glance over at him with that cool, calculating gaze whenever she thought he wasn't looking. The way her lips curled upward into a small smile whenever Delia praised her skills. Ash couldn't help but feel like he was caught in the middle of something he wasn't prepared for.

"Are you sure you want to help, Ash?" Delia called out from the counter, her voice light. "You're looking a little... distracted."

Ash winced, eyes wide. "I-I'm fine, Mom! Just... um, I don't really know how to help with... dumplings..." He mumbled the last part under his breath, his face burning with embarrassment.

Esdeath looked over her shoulder at him, catching his flustered expression. "Is that so?" she teased, her voice playful and smooth. "Maybe you'll be more useful once we finish. Or... perhaps you'll just leave the kitchen duties to us? After all, you've been working hard training Pokémon all year."

Ash felt his face heat up even more. "I-I wasn't that busy! I mean, yeah, there's been a lot of training, but..."

But Esdeath wasn't listening anymore. She turned back to Delia, her attention fully focused on the dumplings. "This recipe really is quite intricate, Mrs. Ketchum," Esdeath remarked, folding the dough with surprising ease. "I've cooked many things, but I have to say, I've never worked with something quite like this."

"Oh, you'll get the hang of it quickly," Delia said with a bright smile. "It's all about balance, you know? You've got to make sure the filling isn't too much or too little, and the dough needs to be soft, but not too sticky."

"Balance," Esdeath repeated, her lips quirking upward. "I like the sound of that. I think it's something I'm good at."

Ash shifted uncomfortably, fiddling with the edge of his sleeve. The whole conversation made his head spin. Balance? Esdeath wasn't exactly known for balance. She was a force of nature—wild, unpredictable, and yet oddly... in control. What was her deal with all this cooking? Did she really think it would help her win his trust?

"Uh, Mom..." Ash said, his voice hesitant. "I don't think Esdeath really needs... all this cooking stuff. I mean, we've been through a lot of battles, right? Isn't that enough? Why the... why the whole 'let's cook together' thing?"

Delia glanced over her shoulder at him, her expression softening. "Ash, sweetheart, don't you see? Esdeath is doing this because she wants to show you she cares. You've both been through so much together, and sometimes, it's the small things that can make a big difference. Maybe it's her way of showing affection."

"Affection?" Ash repeated, his voice cracking as his mind tried to catch up. His stomach tightened at the thought. "I—Mom, I don't think that's—"

"You don't need to be so embarrassed," Delia continued, her voice light and teasing. "It's just food, dear. You can eat and enjoy it. And if Esdeath goes out of her way to learn how to make your favorite meal, I'd say that's a pretty good sign, wouldn't you?"

Ash slumped in his chair, his mind in a whirl. "I... guess? But... this is just too much, Mom! I don't even know how to... how to handle this!"

Esdeath, who had been focused on making the perfect dumplings, paused and turned her gaze toward him once more. There was that mischievous glint in her eyes. "Ash, you're so cute when you get flustered. But I have to admit, I like this side of you." She leaned over just slightly, closing the distance between them. "It makes it more fun for me."

Ash froze, his eyes wide as he felt her gaze on him, her presence suddenly much too close for comfort. "I-I'm not cute!" he protested, but his voice wavered.

"Oh, but you are." Esdeath's voice was low, teasing, and full of amusement. "And don't worry, Ash. I won't bite... unless you want me to."

Delia, not missing a beat, turned toward Esdeath with a wink. "I think Ash is still a little shy, dear. He's not used to such direct attention. But don't worry, it'll grow on him."

Ash groaned, burying his face in his hands. "Mom! This is not the time for... for this!"

Esdeath chuckled softly, clearly enjoying his discomfort. "Don't worry, Ash. You'll learn to enjoy this as much as I will. We've got all year, right?"

"Right," Delia said cheerfully, as she continued to prepare the dumplings, the two of them now working in sync. "The year's just beginning, Ash. You'll see how much better things get when you let others in. You can't always carry everything on your own."

Ash mumbled something incoherent under his breath, too embarrassed to say anything else.

The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur of chatter and laughter as Esdeath and Delia worked side by side, preparing the meal. Ash sat there, watching them with a mixture of awe and dread. It was hard to believe how quickly Esdeath had adapted to the cooking process, even asking Delia for tips on how to make the perfect dipping sauce. It was... unexpected, to say the least. In fact, Ash couldn't help but be a little impressed. Despite all her talk of power and control, Esdeath seemed to genuinely care about making this meal for him.

Finally, after what felt like hours, Delia set the steaming plate of dumplings down in front of Ash, smiling proudly. "There you go, Ash. Fresh homemade dumplings, made with care by both me and Esdeath. I hope you like it!"

Ash's stomach growled at the sight of the food. The smell of the dumplings was mouthwatering, and despite his nerves, he couldn't deny that his hunger was starting to get the better of him.

Esdeath sat down beside him, looking pleased with herself. "Well, Ash? What do you think?"

Ash hesitated for a moment, then, with a sigh, he picked up a dumpling and took a bite. The warm, savory filling hit his taste buds perfectly, the softness of the dough just right. He couldn't help but let out a satisfied "Mmm..." before he realized what he was doing.

Esdeath smirked at him. "I knew you'd like it."

Ash's face turned red, but he couldn't deny it. "Yeah... this is actually really good. Thanks, Esdeath."
