The evening had settled in over Pallet Town, and the Ketchum household was filled with a quiet warmth. The clinking of silverware and soft laughter had faded into the background as the kitchen was cleaned up after the meal. Ash and Esdeath had managed to get through the cooking experience, though it had left Ash feeling both flustered and oddly content. As the night stretched on, Delia suggested a simple game to relax after the chaos of the day: a friendly card game.

"Pikachu, would you mind dealing the cards?" Delia asked with a warm smile as she set down the dishes.

"Pi-ka!" Pikachu cheered, jumping down from the table and scurrying to shuffle the deck.

Ash, still not fully recovered from the embarrassment of the afternoon, found himself sitting across from Esdeath at the kitchen table, his fingers lightly tapping on the surface. His usual competitive spirit was tempered by the nervous energy that Esdeath's mere presence seemed to stir up in him. He wasn't sure if he was ready for another round of distractions.

Esdeath, on the other hand, looked thoroughly amused as she sat next to him, her piercing blue eyes locked onto Ash with that teasing glint she seemed to have perfected. Her posture was impeccable, of course, with her arms folded in front of her, but there was something different about the way she was sitting. She wasn't just playing a game—she was studying him.

Ash shuffled in his seat, trying to focus on the deck that Pikachu had begun to deal. "Okay, let's just play, alright? No funny business, Esdeath," he said, trying to sound firm but only succeeding in making his voice waver.

Esdeath leaned in closer, her presence almost overwhelming as she placed her chin on her hand, her gaze never leaving Ash. "I'm not sure what you mean, Ash," she purred, her voice like silk. "I'm just here to enjoy a friendly game with you..."

Ash's face flushed a little. "Yeah, I bet..." He reached for his hand of cards, trying to avoid looking at her. But every time he picked up his cards, he could feel her eyes on him, like a weight pressing down on his shoulders.

Pikachu, ever the impartial dealer, dropped the cards in front of them. "Pika-pi!" he chirped, excited for the game to begin. His tiny paws shuffled the deck with surprising skill, then he scampered back to his spot beside Ash.

Esdeath wasted no time in glancing at Ash's cards the moment they were dealt. "Hmm," she said, her voice smooth and laced with amusement. "It looks like you've got a pretty good hand, Ash." She leaned in closer, tilting her head as if inspecting his cards more closely than necessary.

Ash's eyes widened, panic setting in. "Hey! No peeking!" he exclaimed, his face turning a shade darker.

"I'm not peeking," Esdeath replied innocently, her lips curling into a smirk. "I'm just admiring your hand. You have such... good cards."

Ash immediately shielded his hand with his arms, his face flushing even more. "You're totally cheating!"

"Cheating?" Esdeath feigned innocence, placing a hand to her chest. "I would never. I'm simply paying attention. Something you seem to have a lot of trouble doing."

Ash shot her a glare, but Esdeath merely winked at him, clearly enjoying the effect her teasing had on him. "Focus, Ash. You need it if you want to win."

As the game went on, it became apparent that Esdeath was making it a point to distract him at every opportunity. Every time Pikachu dealt a new hand, Esdeath would lean in just a little bit too close, positioning herself in such a way that Ash couldn't avoid her presence. Her movements were slow and deliberate, giving him plenty of time to feel her eyes on him.

Ash, trying to keep his cool, glanced nervously at Pikachu, hoping for some relief from his growing discomfort. The little yellow Pokémon just tilted his head with a look that said, What can I do? You're on your own, buddy.

"Are you sure you're not trying to peek?" Ash asked, his eyes darting between his cards and Esdeath, who was still sitting just a bit too close for comfort. He was hyper-aware of her every movement, and it was making it harder and harder to concentrate on the game.

"Hmm, Ash..." Esdeath's voice dropped lower, more seductive. "Are you accusing me of something?" She stretched her arms, casually brushing against his side, her body mere inches away from his. "You do know that everything I do is to get your attention, don't you?"

Ash's heart rate spiked, and his hands nearly fumbled his cards. "W-What?!" he stammered, his face as red as a tomato. "I-I didn't mean it like that!"

Esdeath just smiled, clearly enjoying the chaos she was causing. "I'm not doing anything that isn't obvious, Ash. You're the one who's letting yourself get distracted."

"That's not fair!" Ash cried, now struggling to keep his focus. "This is supposed to be a game!"

"I'm just helping you practice your concentration skills, Ash," Esdeath teased, her breath warm against his ear as she leaned in even closer. "You're getting better already."

Ash could feel himself starting to crack under the pressure, his usual poker face nowhere to be found. "Stop it, Esdeath!" he cried, his voice breaking slightly as he shifted away from her. "I can't think when you're so close!"

Esdeath smirked, enjoying the absolute chaos she was causing. "Oh? You're so cute when you get embarrassed," she said, her voice playful but full of that confident edge she always carried. "Maybe you should just let me help you focus... directly."

Pikachu, who had been watching the entire interaction, seemed to decide that enough was enough. The little Pokémon shot an accusatory look at Esdeath, and then, with a quick flick of his paws, sent the cards flying everywhere with a sudden puff.

"Pikachu!" Ash gasped in disbelief. "What are you—?!"

Esdeath, however, was unfazed. She simply raised an eyebrow, watching the cards scatter across the table. "It seems Pikachu has had enough of the distractions, too."

Ash let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing his temples. "I swear, I'm never playing cards with you again!" He slumped in his chair, half embarrassed and half amused by the whole situation. "I can't take it anymore."

"You're just mad because I'm too good at distracting you," Esdeath teased, her lips curving upward into a victorious grin. "But don't worry, Ash. It's all in good fun."

Ash crossed his arms, still flustered, but his frustration slowly gave way to a reluctant smile. "You're impossible."

Esdeath leaned back in her chair, looking satisfied with herself. "And you love it."

Ash opened his mouth to argue, but the words didn't come. He let out a deep breath, realizing it was probably pointless to argue anymore. Esdeath was definitely going to be a source of constant distractions for him... and that was something he'd have to get used to.

"You know," Ash said, finally accepting his fate, "I don't know how I'm supposed to deal with you."

"You don't have to deal with me, Ash," Esdeath said, her voice lowering again, her gaze softening ever so slightly. "You just have to let me in."

Ash blinked, his heart skipping a beat at the sincerity in her voice. "I... guess that's one way to put it."

After a few more hands, Esdeath continued to dominate the game. "Well, Ash," Esdeath purred, her voice like velvet, "It seems I've won yet again." Her smile was playful, and the twinkle in her eyes suggested that this victory was only the beginning. "But, I'm feeling generous tonight. What do you say to a little double or nothing?"

Ash blinked, confusion creeping into his expression. "Double or nothing? What do you mean?"

Esdeath leaned forward slightly, her voice lowering to a near-whisper, as though she were revealing a secret. "Simple. If you win this next round, I'll let you off the hook. No distractions, no teasing. But if I win..." She paused, letting the silence hang in the air like a heavy weight. "You'll have to do anything I request."

Ash's eyes widened as his thoughts raced. He could feel his pulse quicken at the thought of Esdeath being in control. He wasn't sure what her "request" might be, but considering her usual boldness, he knew it wouldn't be anything simple. And with how much she had been toying with him all evening, he wasn't sure if he was ready for what she might ask of him.

Still, there was no way he was going to back down now. Ash was determined to finish what they'd started, even if his nerves were getting the best of him. "Alright," he said, his voice a little more confident than he felt. "Double or nothing. I'll take you on."

Esdeath's lips curled into a sly smile. "Good," she said, her eyes flickering with excitement. "Let's see if you can handle the pressure this time."

With Pikachu now in charge of dealing the cards, the game was set to begin again. Ash's hands shook slightly as he grabbed his cards, trying desperately to focus this time. He had to admit, he wasn't sure he was cut out for a game against Esdeath, especially considering her tendency to distract him so easily.

Esdeath, on the other hand, was as calm and collected as ever. Her movements were slow and deliberate, each action calculated to draw Ash's attention. She placed her cards down one by one, giving Ash a look that told him she knew exactly what she was doing.

"You know," she said casually, her voice dripping with amusement, "I find it interesting that you're so eager to win, yet so easily distracted. Are you sure you're up for this?"

Ash tried to focus, but the closeness of Esdeath's presence, her teasing words, and the way she kept glancing at him with that playful smirk made it harder and harder to concentrate. It was like she had a sixth sense for when he was losing his focus.

"Stop it, Esdeath," he muttered under his breath, trying to keep his voice steady. "I'm... I'm not gonna fall for your tricks this time."

Esdeath chuckled softly, clearly enjoying his struggle. "We'll see about that, Ash. We'll see."

The round dragged on, with Ash struggling to keep his hand of cards hidden and trying to ignore the constant distractions coming from Esdeath. Every time he looked away, Esdeath would lean in closer, her breath warm against his ear as she whispered little comments or playful jabs, deliberately designed to make him lose focus.

"I'm starting to think you want me to win, Ash," Esdeath teased, her lips nearly brushing against his cheek as she leaned even closer. "You seem so... distracted."

Ash could feel the heat rising to his cheeks as he tried desperately to push the thoughts from his mind. He wasn't sure how much longer he could hold out against her. "You're... you're impossible," he said, frustration creeping into his voice.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the round came to an end. Ash, despite his best efforts, had lost once again. He slumped in his chair, the weight of his defeat pressing down on him like a ton of bricks. His mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, and it took him a moment to fully comprehend what had just happened.

Esdeath sat back in her chair, her smile now one of quiet satisfaction. "Well, Ash," she said, her tone dripping with anticipation, "You've lost, and that means I get to make my request."

Ash looked at her, his heart hammering in his chest. He could already guess where this was going. "What... what do you want from me?"

Esdeath's gaze softened just a little, but her smile remained unwavering. "You know exactly what I want, Ash," she said, her voice low and teasing. "A kiss."

The words hung in the air, and Ash's eyes went wide as his face turned an even deeper shade of red. "W-What?!" he stammered, his mind racing in panic. "You're serious?"

Esdeath's smile widened. "Of course I'm serious," she purred. "You agreed to double or nothing, remember? Now, the loser has to fulfill the winner's request. And since I've won, my request is simple."

Ash's hands clenched into fists, and he nervously glanced at Pikachu, who had somehow managed to stay out of the whole ordeal, but was now giving Ash an almost pitying look. "Pikachu! Help me out here!" Ash whispered desperately.

The little Pokémon sighed and shook his head. "Pi... pika pika," he muttered, clearly exasperated.

Ash let out a frustrated sigh and turned back to Esdeath, who was still waiting expectantly. He swallowed hard, his heart racing faster than ever. He never expected a card game to end like this. What had he gotten himself into?

"Esdeath... I..." Ash started, but his voice faltered. How could he argue with her when she looked at him like that? Her gaze was soft but intense, the teasing in her eyes replaced with something deeper, more genuine.

He couldn't believe he was doing this, but with a deep breath, Ash finally gave in. "Fine," he said quietly, his face bright red. "I'll... I'll do it."

Esdeath's smile transformed into one of pure triumph. "I knew you'd come around," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction.

With slow, deliberate movements, she leaned closer, her eyes locked on Ash's lips. Her proximity was overwhelming, and Ash found himself frozen in place, unable to do anything but watch her. He had never felt so nervous, so utterly out of control.

But as Esdeath's lips neared his, she paused, her gaze flicking to his eyes. "Don't worry, Ash," she murmured softly. "I promise this will be worth it."
