The following day in Pallet Town had begun like any other: peaceful, sunny, and calm. Ash and Esdeath had spent the morning getting in some training for Ash's Pokémon and spending time with Delia, who had gone out to run errands. With the day stretching ahead of them, Ash thought he could finally get some time to himself. But, as always, Esdeath had other plans.

They were lounging around in the living room, both taking a break from the morning's activities. Ash was sitting on the couch, stretching out his legs, while Esdeath leaned against the wall nearby, her gaze lazily flicking around the room. There was an unusual stillness to her—one that wasn't often seen when she was teasing or playing around.

Esdeath, in her usual way, had managed to strip off her outer coat, leaving her in a fitted top that showed off her well-toned figure. But in her relaxed state, she absentmindedly adjusted her outfit, pulling it slightly upward. The soft fabric of her tunic—cut just above her waist—exposed a sliver of her midriff, a brief and unintended display of her toned abs.

Ash, not used to seeing Esdeath so casually dressed, felt his attention drawn to the small area of exposed skin. He quickly tried to focus elsewhere, trying to avoid being too obvious about staring. But there was something about the way Esdeath had adjusted her clothing that made Ash feel flustered, like his gaze had inadvertently caught her off guard.

Esdeath, noticing the direction of Ash's eyes, raised an eyebrow with a smile creeping onto her lips. Her eyes shifted downward toward her exposed midriff, and then back up to Ash. "Oh? Do you like what you see, Ash?"

Ash's face went pale, his cheeks instantly flushing with embarrassment. "W-What?! No! I wasn't... I didn't mean to look! I—uh, I mean, it's just... you didn't mean to show that, right?"

Esdeath leaned forward just slightly, her gaze playful but full of curiosity. "Hmm. Well, I suppose I didn't intend to, but now that it's out there..." She twirled her finger in the air, clearly enjoying Ash's discomfort. "Do you think I look... good?"

Ash gulped, his brain struggling to formulate a coherent response as he avoided her direct gaze. "I... Uh... You're fine! I mean, you look great, I guess. But, um, that's not the point!" He began to wave his hands frantically, his heart racing in his chest. "I just don't think you meant for that to happen, right?"

Esdeath's grin widened, and she raised a hand to place it on her exposed midriff as if to poke fun at Ash's reaction. "You're cute when you're so embarrassed. But, now that I've got your attention… I'm actually a little curious, Ash."

Ash's eyes widened in alarm. "Curious about what?!"

She tilted her head, her playful smirk never leaving her face. "I'm curious about your midriff."

Ash's face exploded with color. His hands quickly flew to his shirt, as if trying to hide his entire body from her. "W-Wait, what?!" He was sure his heart would burst right out of his chest from the sheer amount of blood rushing to his face. "Why... why would you want to see that?!"

Esdeath shrugged casually, her voice still teasing but laced with genuine interest. "Why not? I mean, I've seen mine. You seem to have a pretty well-built body yourself, so I'm curious."

Ash's mind raced. He was flustered enough already just trying to make sense of Esdeath's playful attitude, but this was a whole new level. She wants to see my midriff?! His face burned even brighter, and he stammered, his voice barely a whisper, "I-I'm not sure that's something I should show... It's... it's personal!"

Esdeath raised a finger, her eyes gleaming with intrigue. "I've seen plenty of personal things. You're always so concerned about being modest, Ash. You should learn to embrace your body. After all, if you're going to keep getting stronger, you should be proud of it."

Ash awkwardly shifted in his seat, still not sure what to do. "I... I don't know about this…"

Esdeath leaned in just a little closer, her voice dropping to a more enticing tone. "Come on, Ash. It's not like I'm asking for anything scandalous. Just a little peek—just to see if you're as tough as I think you are. A midriff is hardly a big deal, right?"

Ash blinked, his thoughts in turmoil. He was used to dealing with Esdeath's teasing, but this felt different. The way she was being so casual about it made him even more embarrassed. She's serious about this, isn't she?

He reluctantly stood up, glancing at her to see her expectant look. "I… Okay, fine! Just a little glimpse, but don't say anything weird, okay?!"

Esdeath nodded, her expression suddenly more intense, though still filled with playful excitement. "I promise, no weird comments. Just curious, that's all."

Ash slowly pulled his shirt up, his hands trembling slightly as he revealed a small portion of his stomach. His body was toned from years of training, but now, he felt strangely self-conscious under Esdeath's gaze. He quickly dropped his shirt back down, his face burning hotter than ever.

Esdeath's eyes followed the motion, and for a moment, she said nothing. The silence between them stretched long enough that Ash began to feel more and more awkward.

Finally, Esdeath broke the silence with a soft chuckle. "You're so adorable when you're shy, Ash."

Ash groaned in embarrassment, covering his face with his hands. "You're never going to let this go, are you?"

Esdeath smiled warmly at him, though her usual teasing edge was softened just a little. "Not likely. But don't worry," she added, stepping closer and resting a hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to hide it from me. I won't tease you too much about it… for now."

Ash sighed in relief but still couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't over. Esdeath might have promised not to tease him more right now, but knowing her, it was only a matter of time before she brought it up again.

"Fine, just... just promise me you'll stop trying to see my midriff for a while?" Ash asked, his voice still tinged with embarrassment.

Esdeath gave him an exaggerated pout. "Ah, you're no fun, Ash. But I'll respect your wish… for now."

Ash gave her a wary look, still half-expecting some other teasing remark to follow. "For now...?"

Esdeath winked. "Exactly."

After a while later...

It had been a few days since the midriff incident, and Ash had hoped that the teasing from Esdeath would be left behind. The idea of her sneaking glances at his stomach, let alone bringing it up again, felt like something he desperately wanted to forget. But with Esdeath's unpredictable nature, Ash couldn't help but wonder if that would ever really happen.

Ash and Esdeath had spent the day training and hanging out together in the living room. Ash, still feeling a little embarrassed from the last few days, had started to relax more. Esdeath had promised that she wouldn't bring up his midriff again—or so she said. Ash, however, was still wary, keeping his shirt a little more securely tucked in than usual.

But as the afternoon wore on, Ash started to feel more at ease. Maybe Esdeath really had let it go. Maybe he could enjoy some time without worrying about her turning everything into a joke.

And then, as always, Esdeath found a way to prove him wrong.

Ash was standing up to stretch after an intense training session, his muscles aching but feeling satisfied. He reached for the shelf to grab a bottle of water, unaware that Esdeath had been watching him with that mischievous glint in her eyes.

The moment Ash turned around, Esdeath's teasing voice cut through the air. "You know, Ash, I promised I wouldn't peek at your midriff again," she said, her voice dripping with mock sincerity. "But I'm starting to think maybe I should take another look... just for curiosity's sake."

Ash froze in place. He hadn't realized how much time had passed since their last interaction about his midriff, and hearing those words sent a fresh wave of heat rushing to his face. He quickly grabbed his shirt and tugged it down in an attempt to cover up, but it was already too late.

Esdeath took one casual step toward him, a sly grin spreading across her face. "Come on, Ash. You know you want to show me. Just a little peek. You're so tense. Maybe you need to relax a little."

"No way!" Ash said, trying to act tough, but his voice cracked slightly, betraying the nervousness that was building inside him. "I thought you promised! You can't keep asking about it!"

Esdeath smirked, her eyes gleaming. She leaned in closer, her face barely an inch away from his. "You really think I'll stop after just one look? I'm just curious, Ash. There's no harm in that, is there?"

Ash looked away, his mind racing. He had learned by now that Esdeath wasn't going to let this go, not unless he somehow gave in. The idea of showing her his midriff again made him feel like he was going to burst from embarrassment, but—perhaps for the sake of peace—he reluctantly agreed.

"Fine… just a quick look," Ash muttered under his breath, his face red. He pulled his shirt up, but this time, his hands were trembling, and he felt like he was being set up for some kind of humiliating joke.

Esdeath's eyes immediately locked onto the exposed skin, and her expression became even more intense. There was no mocking tone in her voice now—just quiet fascination. "Hmm, I knew you were hiding something interesting under there." She stepped even closer to Ash, her gaze sweeping over him as if inspecting every inch.

Ash stood there, trying to hold back the overwhelming urge to cover up again. He felt utterly self-conscious, like he was being put under a microscope. But Esdeath was more focused than ever, and when she noticed the way Ash was squirming, an idea struck her.

Without warning, she lifted her hand and gently poked the side of his exposed midriff.

Ash's eyes widened, and his body tensed. The icy chill of her fingers made him jump, and an immediate, uncontrollable shiver ran down his spine. "W-Wha—! What was that for?!"

Esdeath's lips twitched with amusement, and she poked him again, pressing her finger gently against his stomach. "You've got such a cute reaction, Ash. I couldn't resist. You look so flustered right now. It's adorable."

Ash's face turned an even deeper shade of crimson, and he tried to squirm away from her poke, but Esdeath wasn't done. She poked him again, this time with more force, pressing against his side in a way that made him feel like he couldn't breathe properly.

"Esdeath!" Ash stammered, his voice wavering. "P-Please stop! I can't take it!"

Esdeath took a step back, still grinning like a cat who had caught her prey. Her eyes sparkled with amusement as she saw Ash's embarrassment rising to new heights. "I couldn't help it," she teased, her voice soft yet full of playfulness. "You're just too cute when you get all red. And your midriff… it's so soft."

Ash could barely even look at her now, his heart pounding. "I... I didn't want to do this! I didn't want you to poke me!"

Esdeath leaned against the nearby wall, her arms folded as she gazed at Ash with a satisfied smile. "But you did show it to me, Ash. And now that I've seen it…" She smirked. "Well, you can't expect me to let it slide, can you?"

Ash groaned, his embarrassment deepening. "I-I'm not a show-off! I just didn't know what else to do…"

Esdeath chuckled softly, taking a step forward. She was still grinning mischievously, though there was a glimmer of warmth behind her teasing demeanor. "Don't worry, Ash. I won't make a habit of poking your midriff, at least not all the time."

Ash couldn't help but sigh in relief, though his face was still burning. "I really hope you're telling the truth this time…"

"Oh, I am." Esdeath stepped even closer, placing a hand on his shoulder, her gaze becoming more serious for a brief moment. "But just so you know, the next time I get curious…" She winked. "I'll probably poke again."

Ash laughed nervously, unsure whether Esdeath was being serious or not. "You're unbelievable…"

Esdeath simply smiled, her eyes gleaming with the same playful intensity as before. "That's what you like about me, isn't it?"

Ash shook his head, his hands rubbing his face in embarrassment. "I don't even know anymore," he mumbled.
