A Strange Friendship

~Chapter 10 An Unforeseen Situation~

While a little disappointed that they couldn't hang out with Midoriya much after school, Ochako and Himiko did get a chance to read through the analysis he had written for their Zero Gravity quirk.

The "Selective Activation" he brought up about how she used it on her clothes without making herself weightless gave her a couple ideas she wanted to try in class.

"Do you think anyone else read their analysis last night?" asked Himiko.

'Why wouldn't they?' Ochako asked back 'even if there's no new ideas it's nice to get a second opinion, or a third in my case'

"I still think we could make things heavier if we try hard enough" Himiko giggled "but I have no idea how we'd make that work"

'Neither do I' Ochako shook her head as she walked into class and took her seat, she noticed her classmates that received an analysis from Izuku were looking excited 'I think they got some ideas they wanna try today too'

When Aizawa came into the classroom, he stood at the front and cleared his throat, making everyone quiet down "Today's training will be a little different" he announced bluntly "you'll have three instructors, me, All Might and another faculty member will be keeping tabs on you"

'Any guesses?' asked Ochako.

"I got nothing, maybe Present Mic?" Himiko answered.

"Sir, what kinda training is this?" asked Sero, raising his hand.

"Rescue" he answered holding up a card with the same word written on it "we'll be dealing with natural disasters, shipwrecks, stuff like that"

"Disasters huh?" Kaminari chuckled "sounds like we're in for a big workout"

"Totally" Mina cheered.

"Real hero stuff that separates the men from the boys" Kirishima smirked "I'm shaking with excitement"

"Finally, I'll get to show off how good I am in the water, ribbit" commented Tsuyu.

"Guys, I'm not finished yet" said Aizawa, interrupting the class chatter "what you wear in this exercise is up to you, I know you're excited about costumes" he pressed a button on a remote, causing the costume cases to come out of the wall "but keep in mind, you haven't gotten used to them yet and they might limit your abilities" he paused to let them think about his words for a moment "this special training is at an off campus facility, so we'll be taking a bus to get there, that's all, start getting ready"

As Aizawa left the room, all the students were quick to grab there costume cases and follow behind him 'I've been looking forward to this' thought Ochako with a smile.

"Your favourite Pro is Thirteen right?" Himiko asked, despite knowing the answer "she's a rescue hero"

'Exactly, oh this is gonna be cool' Ochako answered.

"Well you already rescued me, so you've got this in the bag" Himiko giggled "I'll hang back and let you handle this today"

'Well if I'm gonna be doing the heavy lifting, you make sure you pay attention" replied Ochako 'these are important skills we're gonna learn'

The girls' conversation was interrupted in the changing room "Yaomomo did you cut your hair?" asked Mina, noticing the taller girl's shorter ponytail.

Momo touched her hair before answering "yes, when Hagakure, Uraraka, Midoriya and I went to the support course yesterday, we were informed about quirk sensitive fibres" she opened her costume case and pulling out the same costume she wore in the battle trial "so I gave them some of my hair so they could make a new costume for me, it's not quite ready yet, so I'll be wearing my previous costume for today"

"That's pretty cool" said Mina "do you think that they could do that for me? It could help with my acid"

"It might also help me a little" Tsuyu commented "I can secrete a toxic mucus, but it's not very strong right now"

"So why did you two go?" asked Jiro, gesturing to Ochako and Toru.

"Well, I needed a costume repair" Toru answered, trying to keep her tone even.

"I went out of curiosity" Ochako shrugged "afterwards I helped with designing the new suits"

"I did get this new belt for now" said Momo, pulling said belt from her case, the design was incredibly similar to previous beige belt, however the centrepiece was now black, it had a notable increase in pouches and some kind of holster.

"What's so special about it?" Jiro asked bluntly.

"I can carry some pre-prepared tools and high calorie snack bars in the pouches" she answered "and I have this new grappling hook launcher"

'I should have asked about something like that' Ochako realized, facepalming.

"Don't worry about it" Himiko comforted "we can go ask later"

"Midoriya, why are you wearing your P.E. clothes?" Ochako asked after everyone gathered outside at the bus "where's your costume at?"

"You saw it after the combat training, it's kinda trashed" he answered, prompting Ochako to blush as the thought of his muscular chest popped into her head "I'm still waiting on the support company to fix it up"

"Well, Toru is in a similar boat" Ochako replied, trying to hide her red face.

Any further conversation was interrupted by Iida blowing a whistle rather loudly "gather round class 1-A" he announced "using your student numbers, form two neat lines so we can load the bus efficiently"

"Iida's kicking it into high gear as class vice-rep huh" Izuku said as everyone stared at the armoured boy.

"I hope Jiro isn't too bothered by that whistle" Himiko commented.

Ochako looked over at the girl in question and could see her glaring at Iida with a look that promised murder if he didn't stop, everyone soon boarded the bus and Iida seemed to deflate after sitting down.

"The bus' open layout ruined my boarding strategy" he lamented.

"Iida, you really need to chill" Mina commented.

"If we're pointing out the obvious, then there's something I wanna say" said Tsuyu before turning to Midoriya "about you actually"

"About me, what is it Asui?" Izuku asked nervously.

"I told you to call me Tsu" she replied with a slightly annoyed tone.

"Oh, yeah, right" he mumbled sheepishly.

"That power of yours isn't it a lot like All Might's?" she asked.

"What, really, you think so huh?" he stammered "I never really thought about that, I guess it's kinda similar"

"Wait hold on Tsu, you're forgetting All Might doesn't hurt himself, that makes a huge difference" commented Kirishima "still I bet it's cool to have a simple augmenting type of quirk, you can do a lot of flashy stuff with it" he activated his quirk on his arm to prove his point "my 'Hardening' is super strong and can destroy bad guys in a fight, but I don't think it's all that impressive"

"Oh no way, I think it's really awesome looking, you're definitely pro material with a quirk like that" defended Izuku.

"Hey Kirishima" Ochako chimed in "why don't you ask Midoriya to write an analysis for you?"

"Really? I don't think he could do much for me, with how limited my quirk is" replied the red head.

"You're selling yourself short Kirishima" said Toru "he gave me some ideas I wouldn't have thought of"

"Oh, I'm not that good" mumbled Izuku.

"My 'Navel Laser' has got the perfect combination of panache and strength" Aoyama bragged.

"But it's way lame if it gives you a stomach ache sweetie" commented Mina, bursting the French boy's bubble.

"Well if any of our classmates have got pro quirks, it's Todoroki and Bakugo" said Kirishima looking over at the boys in the back of the bus.

"Sure, but Bakugo's always angry" added Tsuyu "so he'll never be that popular"

"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" yelled Bakugo, rising to his feet, Jiro leaned away from the sudden noise "I'LL KICK YOUR ASS!"

"You see" she smiled cheekily.

"You know we basically just met you" Kaminari smirked "so it's kinda telling that we all know your personality is flaming crap mixed with garbage"

"YOU'RE GONNA REGRET THE DAY YOU APPLIED TO THIS SCHOOL YOU LOSER!" Bakugo shouted again, making Jiro lean further away "I'LL KILL YOU!"

After that Iida began admonishing Bakugo for his choice of words, Kaminari continued to provoke him and Bakugo himself kept screaming at them both.

"This is such a disgusting conversation" Momo said quietly, covering her mouth.

"Yeah, but it's kinda fun listening to them fight" Ochako smiled.

"Okay, we're here" Aizawa announced from the front of the bus "stop messing around"

"Yes sir" the class said together.

The bus pulled up to a large dome shaped building and the class followed Aizawa outside, only to be met with another hero.

"Hello everyone, I've been waiting for you" greeted Thirteen.

"It's the space hero Thirteen, the chivalrous pro who's rescued a ton of people from disasters across the world" Izuku fanboyed.

"Wahoo, Thirteen is one of my favourite heroes" Ochako cheered.

"I can't wait to show you what's inside" said Thirteen, pointing towards the building.

"Oh, this is gonna be great" Himiko cheered "what other cool things has Thirteen done?"

"Thirteen is so cool" Ochako gushed "she even beat All Might's record for most people saved in a single incident"

"I heard about that" Izuku replied, causing Ochako to realize she answered Himiko aloud "Thirteen was on site as a huge avalanche started and used her quirk to suck up the entire thing"

"Yeah, she saved the entire town at the base of the mountain" she grinned.

"Shall we get started with today's lesson?" Thirteen asked with a teasing tone "or shall we give you two a moment of privacy?"

Both teens immediately blushed and took a step away from each other.

A couple of students were chuckling at the duo's plight as everyone followed the teachers inside.

Standing on the entry walkway to building and seeing all the different areas where they'll be having rescue training left them in awe.

"Holy crap, it looks like some kind of amusement park" said Kirishima.

"A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a wind storm etcetera" said Thirteen gesturing to each area in question "I created this training facility to prepare to deal with different types of disasters, I call it the 'Unforeseen Simulation Joint', but you can call it 'USJ'"

"Just like 'Universal Studios Japan'/Just like 'Universal Studios Japan'' Ochako and Himiko thought in unison.

"Hey, shouldn't All Might be here already?" Aizawa asked as he approached the space themed hero "let me guess, he booked an interview instead"

Thirteen answered Aizawa's question quietly so no one could hear, but she raised three fingers as she spoke.

"That man is the height of irresponsibility" Aizawa replied in a deadpan tone "clock's ticking, we should get started"

"Excellent, before we begin let me just say one thing, well maybe two things, possibly three, four or five" said Thirteen, devolving into rambling at the end.

"We get it" some of the class sighed.

"Listen carefully, I'm sure you're aware that I have a powerful quirk" Thirteen started "it's called 'Black Hole' I can use it to suck up anything and turn it into dust"

"Yeah, you've used 'Black Hole' to save people from all kinds of disasters before haven't you?" asked Izuku.

"That's true, as you and your friend clearly know" answered Thirteen, pointing at both Izuku and Ochako, making them both blush again "but my quirk could also very easily be used to kill" Ochako froze at the sudden change in tone "some of you also have powers that can be dangerous"

Everyone went silent, hanging on the Pro's every word "in our superhuman society, all quirks are certified and stringently regulated so we often overlook how unsafe they can actually be, please don't forget that if you lose focus or make the wrong move, your powers can be deadly, even if you're trying to do something virtuous like rescue someone" she paused for a moment "thanks to Aizawa's fitness tests, you have a solid idea of your quirk's potential, and because of All Might's combat training, you likely experienced how dangerous your powers can be when used against other people, carry those lessons over to this class, today you're going to learn how to use your quirks to save people's lives, you won't be using your powers to attack enemies or each other, only to help, after all that's what being a hero is all about, ensuring the safety of others"

"Wow, she's pretty passionate about this" commented Himiko.

'Yeah, Thirteen is so cool' Ochako replied.

"That's all I have to say" said Thirteen, taking a bow "thank you so much for listening"

The class erupted into cheers, clearly excited to start the training after the space hero's speech.

"Right, now that that's over" announced Aizawa, pointing to the stairs, his words were cut short when the lights suddenly went off, he quickly turned around a black and purple vortex forming in front of the fountain in the central plaza "stay together and don't move" he said with an urgent tone "Thirteen, protect the students"

"Woah, what is that thing?" Kirishima asked, looking at the portal releasing people into the building "wait, has the training started already? I thought we were rescuing people?"

"Stay back" Aizawa yelled, placing his goggles over his eyes "this is real, those are villains"

"Ochako, I don't think he's joking" Himiko said quietly, clearly worried for their safety.

'We'll protect each other, okay?' Ochako asked back, in a shaky tone 'us and our classmates'

"What? Real villains? No way" said Kirishima "how could so many of them get into a UA facility this secure?"

"Yeah, Thirteen why aren't the alarms going off?" asked Momo.

"Good question" mumbled Thirteen "I'm not sure"

"Is the entire campus under attack? Or is this their only target?" asked Todoroki "either way, if the alarm sensors aren't being triggered, then one of these villains must have a quirk that's masking their presence here, they carefully chose this isolated facility as an entry point at a time when a class was being taught, they're fools for trespassing here, but they've thought this out, whatever their plan, they must have a concrete objective in mind, but what is it?"

"Thirteen get them out of here and alert the main campus" Aizawa ordered, walking to the edge of the stairs "actually if they've got the ability to block our sensors, then they might be jamming our regular communications too, Kaminari try using your quirk to contact the school"

"Yes sir" said Kaminari, immediately placing a hand on his headset.

"What are you gonna do? You can't fight them on your own" Izuku spoke up "there's too many of them, even if you can nullify their quirks, your fighting style is not suited for this, your power works best for stealth and one-on-one fights, it's not gonna help with a group"

"You can't be a pro if you only have one trick" Aizawa replied "I'll leave it to you Thirteen" with his piece said, he leapt down the stairs to engage the villains head on.

The hero quickly made short work of the first three villains he encountered, binding them in his capture scarf and slamming them together, he then punched a four armed man in the face and caught his ankle with his scarf, Aizawa then roundhouse kicked a man behind him, knocking him into two other villains and slammed the four armed guy on all three of them.

Eraserhead landed a jump kick across a woman's face before binding another villain with his scarf.

As Ochako turned to leave, she noticed her friend hadn't moved "Midoriya, we need to leave now" she said, grabbing his arm and pulling him along.

"Sorry" he apologized, running with her.

Before the class had even made it halfway across the walkway, the portal making mist villain appeared before them "there is no escape for you" he declared ominously "it's a pleasure to meet you, we are 'The League of Villains' I know it's impolite, but we decided to invite ourselves into this haven of justice to say hello" Thirteen raised her arm protectively in front of the students "and besides, isn't this a fitting place for All Might, the symbol of peace, to take his last breath, I believe he was supposed to be here today and yet I see no sign of him, there must have been some sort change in plans we could not have foreseen" his misty for widened "ah well, in the end I suppose it doesn't matter, I still have a role to play"

Thirteen uncapped one of the fingers of her suit and pointed at the villain, ready to use her quirk, only gasp in shock as Bakugo and Kirishima leapt forward to attack.

"Did you think we were just gonna stand around and let you tear this place to shreds?" Kirishima asked as the smoke from Bakugo's explosion cleared away.

"You live up to your school's reputation" the villain said, completely unmoved "but you should be more careful children, otherwise someone might get hurt"

"Get out of the way!, right now!" Thirteen ordered, aiming at the mist villain.

"I'll scatter you across this facility" the villain announced, multiple portals forming, coating the entire area in his mist "to meet my comrades and your deaths"

"What is this?" Kirishima shouted as the mists enveloped the class.

~A/N~ No-one: And there we go, the USJ has begun, I'm not doing it all in one go this time, like I did with the battle trial.

No-one: Each zone in the USJ will get it's own chapter, all of the zone's chapters will be taking place at the same time, and what students went where will be randomized.
