Rukongai

Sui-Feng

"I came here to tell you exactly that"

*flashback*

Just as her blade was about to pierce the Vasto Lorde's heart, a sudden force erupted between them. Chains, glowing with otherworldly energy, shot out of nowhere and wrapped around the hollow's body, pulling her away from Sui-Feng's strike.

The captain skidded to a stop, her eyes widening in surprise as she watched the chains tighten around the Vasto Lorde. The white-haired girl let out a strangled gasp, her movements restricted as the glowing chains bound her arms, legs, and torso.

"What is this?" Sui-Feng muttered, her grip tightening on her blade.

The chains pulsed with a strange, crimson energy, their presence radiating an aura that was neither hollow nor shinigami.

*Chakra ?*

At first, Sui-Feng assumed the chains were a weapon, some kind of defensive mechanism to protect herself. But as she watched, she realized the hollow wasn't in control. The girl thrashed against the chains. Her eyes flickered with panic, and for the first time, she let out a sound—a low, desperate growl.

She tightened her grip on her blade and stepped forward, her voice cold but resolute. "Hollow or not, I won't let your soul remain in torment."

She raised her zanpakuto, preparing to perform a soul purification. She had done it countless times before—cleansing hollows of their sins and sending their souls to the Soul Society to begin anew. It was her duty as a shinigami, her responsibility to maintain the balance.

The chains glowed brighter as she approached, the energy radiating from them growing stronger. Sui-Feng hesitated for a moment, the unfamiliar aura making her skin prickle.

She didn't have time to think. With a burst of shunpo, she closed the distance and swung her blade, aiming to purify the hollow's soul.

The moment Sui-Feng's blade connected with the chains, a powerful shockwave erupted, sending her flying backward. She gritted her teeth as she skidded across the ice, digging her feet into the ground to stop herself. Her blade trembled in her hands, the energy from the chains reverberating through her arms.

"What… what is this power?" Sui-Feng gasped, staring at the glowing chains.

*But my blade must have touched her!*

Sui-Feng stumbled, her feet sliding on the ice. She watched in horror as the chains began to glow even brighter, their energy consuming the hollow's body.

"No!" Sui-Feng shouted, shunpo-ing forward in a desperate attempt to stop whatever was happening.

Before she could reach the hollow, the chains began to retract, pulling the Vasto Lorde's body toward a strange vortex that had formed in the air. The vortex pulsed with the same crimson energy as the chains, its swirling mass glowing ominously.

"What is this?" her eyes widened.

The Vasto Lorde let out one final, desperate cry as her body was pulled into the vortex, the chains dragging her soul and hollow essence along with her. For a brief moment, Sui-Feng saw the hollow's crimson eyes lock onto hers, filled with a mix of fear, regret, and something that almost looked like gratitude.

And then, she was gone.

Sui-Feng stood frozen, her blade still raised, her mind racing to process what she had just witnessed.

"What… just happened?" she muttered, her voice barely audible.

*end flashback*

Kushina sat frozen, her body rigid with disbelief. The words echoed in her mind, each one striking her like a physical blow.

Kushina

"No… that can't be," The mother whispered, shaking her head as if denying the possibility could erase the truth. "Naruto… my Naruto… has that hollow inside him now?"

Her captain-piercing eyes softened, just slightly, but her tone remained firm. "I saw it with my own eyes, Lieutenant. The chains were not of shinigami origin, nor were they the hollow's power. They bound her, pulled her into a vortex, and sealed her within your son. I would not believe it myself had I not been there."

Her thoughts spiraled as she tried to make sense of what she had just told her. The seal on Naruto's stomach, the intricate and powerful Reaper Death Seal, had always been unique. Designed by Uzumaki ancestor, it was meant to keep the Bijju chakra locked away, preventing it from overtaking their son. But this… this was something entirely different.

"The chains," Kushina muttered to herself, her voice barely audible. "The chains that pulled the hollow in… they sounded just like my chakra chains."

Kushina's chakra chains had been her signature ability, a manifestation of her Uzumaki lineage. But she was gone—dead for over a decade.

*How could they appear now?*

And yet… the signs had been there, hadn't they? The shifting patterns of the seal on Naruto's stomach, the strange fluctuations in his chakra whenever he was pushed to his limit. She had dismissed them as quirks of the Nine-Tails' influence, never once considering that something new might be at play.

"The seal… it's been changing," Kushina murmured.

"The Reaper Death Seal," She whispered, her voice trembling. "It's supposed to use the life of the caster as payment. It takes everything—your soul, your chakra, your very existence—and binds it into the seal. Minato and I… we gave our lives to make sure the Nine-Tails was contained. But the chains…"

She shivered at the thought of the hollow's soul trapped inside her son, alongside the Nine-Tails. Two powerful, volatile forces sealed within her son, their fates intertwined with his own. It was unthinkable, yet she couldn't deny the possibility.

"The chains reacted on their own," Kushina muttered, pacing back and forth. "They appeared without anyone summoning them. They overpowered a shinigami captain and a Vasto Lorde. That shouldn't be possible."

She stopped in her tracks, her heart pounding. The seal had already been extraordinary, a combination of her Uzumaki sealing techniques and Minato's genius as the Fourth Hokage. But what if their sacrifice had left behind more than just a binding jutsu?

Her voice faltered as a chilling realization began to take shape.

*What if the seal is… alive?*

"What if our chakra—our essence—is still in the seal?" Kushina whispered, the idea both terrifying and hopeful. "What if we're still protecting Naruto, even now?"

Her mind raced with possibilities. The chains could be an extension of her own chakra, triggered by the seal to protect Naruto from the hollow. But that didn't explain why they had sealed the hollow inside him instead of purifying it.

"Why would the seal absorb the hollow instead of destroying it?" Kushina asked herself, her fists clenching. "Is it trying to make him stronger? Or… is it trying to protect itself?"

"Two monsters… two enormous powers sealed inside him," she muttered, her voice shaking. "No, not two. Three…"

(Uzumaki Enormous Chakra Capabilities)

The Reaper Death Seal had been designed to contain one immense power, not two. Could the seal even hold both the Nine-Tails and the Vasto Lorde for long? And if it couldn't, what would happen to Naruto?

Her breath hitched as she said it out loud. The Nine-Tails, the Vasto Lorde, and Naruto himself—a human soul trying to hold it all together. How could his small, fragile body withstand such a strain? The very thought of it made her chest tighten.

"This isn't just about the power itself," she muttered, her fists clenching at her sides. "It's about what his body can endure."

She knew firsthand how much strain being a jinchuuriki placed on the body. The chakra of a tailed beast was like an unrelenting storm, constantly clashing with its host's own energy. It took years of training and immense willpower to even begin to control it.

And Naruto was still just a boy, his body and mind still growing.

"How can he survive this?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "How can his body and soul withstand the weight of it all?"

*Would the seal break?*

"Captain! Please, let me out! I have to help my son!"

Sui-Feng's expression didn't waver. "You are in no condition to help anyone right now."

"What do you plan to do, Uzumaki? You can't use chakra anymore. Your spiritual energy is weak and unrefined. Do you honestly believe you're in a position to help anyone, let alone a boy carrying the burdens of a Biju and a hollow?"

Kushina flinched at the harshness of her words, but her resolve didn't falter. "I'll figure something out! I'll find a way! But I can't do anything while I'm stuck in here!"

"You're not getting out of this cell until you calm down and think rationally."

Kushina gritted her teeth, her hands tightening around the bars. "I don't have time to calm down! Every second I'm in here is another second Naruto is suffering! Don't you understand? He's just a boy! A child! And you're keeping me locked up while he—"

"Enough," Her captain interrupted, her voice cutting through Kushina's rant like a blade. Her eyes burned with intensity as she stared down the panicked mother. "You think you're helping him by running around in a blind panic? You're not. All you're doing is wasting time and energy."

She opened her mouth to argue, but Sui-Feng didn't give her the chance.

"Think, Uzumaki," Sui-Feng said, her tone sharp and deliberate. "Think. What can you actually do to help him?"

She blinked, momentarily stunned by the question. "I… I…" She faltered, her thoughts racing. "I can figure something out! I can—"

"No," The captain said firmly, crossing her arms. "You're not listening. What can you do right now, with the abilities you currently have?"

"I… I don't know…"

"I don't know!" she cried, her voice breaking. "I don't know what to do! I just… I can't stand the thought of him being alone in this!"

"Your son has carried the weight of the Nine-Tails for years, hasn't he? He's stronger than you give him credit for."

"If you truly want to help him, you need to stop panicking and start thinking."

Kushina froze, her breath hitching as Sui-Feng's words struck a chord. "What can I do…?" she repeated, her voice trembling.

Sui-Feng stepped closer, her sharp eyes boring into her. "Yes. What can you do? You're his mother. You were the jinchuriki before him. You were there when the Nine-Tails was sealed. And now, this hollow has been added to the mix. You have more knowledge and insight into that seal than anyone else in Soul Society. So, again, I ask you: What can you do?"

She admitted, her voice shaking. "I don't know what I can do."

Sui-Feng's gaze hardened. "Then figure it out. Think, Uzumaki. You've been given a second chance. Use it wisely."

After a long silence, Sui-Feng spoke again, her tone more measured. "The seal that holds the Nine-Tails—and now this hollow—it's unlike anything we've seen in Soul Society."

Kushina looked up at her, confusion and curiosity flickering in her tear-filled eyes. "What do you mean?"

Sui-Feng's arms remained crossed as she explained. "The chains that appeared during the hollow's sealing… they weren't of hollow origin, nor were they shinigami techniques. But they share similarities with the spiritual constructs we use in Soul Society. If we can understand the nature of that seal, we might be able to find a way to help your son."

Her heart skipped a beat. "You're saying… I could study the seal. Learn how it works?"

Sui-Feng nodded. "You're the only one who can. You have the most knowledge of its origins, and it's directly connected to you and your son. But you'll need to focus, Uzumaki. This isn't something you can do in your current state."

"I'll do it," Kushina said finally, her voice steady despite the lingering fear in her chest. "I'll study the seal. I'll learn everything I can about it. If it can help Naruto, then I'll do whatever it takes."

Sui-Feng gave a small nod of approval. "Good. That's the first rational decision you've made since you got here."

The mother shot her a glare, but there was no real anger behind it. "Don't push your luck, Captain."

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of Sui-Feng's lips as she turned to leave. "Calm your mind, Uzumaki. You'll need it for what's to come."

As the door to her cell closed, Kushina sank back onto the floor, her mind already turning over the possibilities. The seal… the chains… the connection to the hollow. There were so many questions, but she was determined to find the answers.

Wave

Naruto Uzumaki

"I don't know," Miku admitted, her eyes narrowing as she stared into the distance. "But she didn't hesitate to attack me. It was like she knew exactly what I was. Like she could see me for what I am."

"So you think she might come back? Try to… I don't know, hunt you down?"

Miku hesitated, her usual bravado faltering. "Maybe. Probably. She didn't seem like the type to give up easily."

Naruto ran a hand through his hair, his frustration building. "Great. Just great."

"What else is troubling you, Naruto-kun?"

"It's my chakra," He said, his voice laced with frustration.

"I can't use it the way I used to. It's harder to summon, and when I try to use too much, my whole body hurts."

Haku's brow furrowed slightly, concern flickering across her face. "Blocked…?" she repeated softly, her hand coming up to rest on her chin in thought.

Haku and Miku exchanged a glance, a silent understanding passing between them.

"It's the seal," She said after a moment, her voice steady. "It must be affecting your chakra flow."

"The seal?" Naruto repeated, confused. "Why would it do that?"

The white hair girl leaned against an invisible surface. "What already happening? That seal of yours is working overtime right now. It's not just keeping the Nine-Tails locked up anymore. It's holding me and Haku, too."

His eyes widened. "Wait, you mean… you're saying the seal is blocking my chakra because it's trying to keep everything inside?"

"Exactly," Miku said, nodding. "It's like a dam holding back a river. The more it has to contain, the more pressure builds up. And right now, your body is feeling that strain."

Naruto's shoulders slumped as he let out a heavy sigh. "That's just great. So now I can't even use my chakra properly? How am I supposed to protect anyone if I can't fight?"

The black hair girl placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, her dark eyes filled with kindness. "Naruto-kun, you're not alone in this. Miku and I are here to help you."

"Help me?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "How?"

Miku straightened up. "Simple. We'll handle the Nine-Tails' chakra for you."

He blinked, confused. "Wait, what?"

Haku nodded, her expression calm and reassuring. "The Nine-Tails' chakra is a powerful and dangerous force, but it's also a part of the seal. As long as Miku and I are here, we can absorb the excess chakra so it won't harm you."

"You can do that?" Naruto asked, his eyes wide with surprise.

"Of course we can," Hollow girl said with a grin. "We're part of the seal now, remember? That means we have access to the Nine-Tails' chakra, just like you do. But unlike you, we don't have to worry about the physical strain. We can take care of it for you."

He hesitated, his mind racing. "But… won't that hurt you? The Nine-Tails' chakra is dangerous. I don't want you two to get hurt because of me."

Miku waved a dismissive hand. "Oh, please. It'll take more than some biju chakra to hurt me. I'm tougher than I look"

Haku, however, didn't respond right away. Her grip on Naruto's shoulder tightened slightly, and her dark eyes bore into his with an intensity that made his heart skip a beat. "Naruto-kun," she said softly, her voice almost a whisper. "Even if it does hurt me… I'll endure it. For you."

Naruto's breath caught in his throat. "Haku, you don't have to—"

"Yes, I do," she interrupted her tone firm but filled with an unsettling warmth. "You're my everything, now , Naruto-kun. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe. If that means enduring the pain of the Nine-Tails' chakra, then so be it. I'll bear that burden for you."

Naruto swallowed hard, unsure of how to respond. Haku's expression was calm, but there was a strange intensity in her eyes—a possessiveness that made him both nervous and comforted.

"Haku-chan" he began, his voice hesitant, "you don't have to put yourself through that for me. I don't want you to get hurt."

Her fingers brushed against his cheek, making him freeze. "Naruto-kun," she said softly, her lips curving into a gentle smile. "You're so kind. Always thinking of others before yourself. But don't you see? This is what I want. I want to protect you. I want to take care of you."

"Haku…" Naruto felt his face heat up, his heart racing in a way that had nothing to do with fear or anxiety.

"You've been through so much," Haku continued, her voice as sweet as honey. "You've carried so many burdens all by yourself. It's not fair, Naruto-kun. You don't have to do that anymore. Let me take care of everything. Let me take care of you."

"Alright, alright," Miku said, breaking the moment with an exaggerated groan. "We get it, Haku. You're a super dedicated sister to him. But can we focus on the actual problem here?"

Haku shot her a sharp look, her dark eyes narrowing slightly. "Miku," she said in a warning tone, "don't interrupt me when I'm talking to him."

Miku raised her hands in mock surrender, her smirk returning. "Relax, big sis. I'm just saying we've got more important things to deal with right now than your mushy little speech."

Naruto, still flustered, cleared his throat and stepped back slightly, putting some distance between himself and Haku. "Miku's right. We need to figure out how to fix this chakra thing. If you two can handle the Nine-Tails' chakra, then maybe I can focus on figuring out how to deal with the seal."

Haku's expression softened, though the intensity in her eyes didn't fully fade. "Alright, Naruto-kun. But promise me one thing: Don't push yourself too hard. Let us help you."

Naruto nodded, his resolve strengthening. "I promise. But you two have to promise me something, too."

"What is it?" Haku asked, tilting her head slightly.

"Promise me you won't get hurt because of this," Naruto said firmly. "I don't want either of you putting yourselves in danger for me."

Haku's smile returned, but it carried a hint of something darker—something possessive. "Oh, Naruto-kun," she said softly. "You don't have to worry about us. We'll be fine. Just trust me, okay? I'll take care of everything."

Miku cleared her throat, breaking the tension. "Alright, enough of the mushy stuff. There's something else we need to talk about, Naruto"

Naruto turned to her, relieved by the distraction. "What is it now?"

"The Hokage," Miku said, her crimson eyes narrowing. "You can't let him find out about us—about me and Haku."

"What? Why not?!"

The soul girl stepped in, her calm voice steady but firm. "Naruto-kun, think about it. The Hokage might not understand. He might see us as threats and try to remove us from the seal. That could put you in even more danger."

"The old man is the Hokage! He's always been there for me! He'd never hurt me like that!"

"He's supposed to protect the village and everyone in it! Why would you tell me not to trust him?!"

The hollow girl scoffed, crossing her arms. "Oh? Has he? Has he really been there for you? Yes or No"

Haku's serene expression didn't waver, though a flicker of sadness passed through her eyes. "Naruto-kun, we're not saying you have to stop trusting him. We're simply asking you to be cautious."

"Naruto-kun, think about it. Has the Hokage taken care of you? Or has he just done the bare minimum to make sure you didn't starve to death?"

He froze, her words hitting him like a punch to the gut. "W- What are you talking about? He gave me a place to live! He gave me money for food!"

"And that's it," Miku said bluntly, her eyes narrowing. "Did he ever stop the villagers from glaring at you? Did he ever stop them from whispering behind your back, calling you names? Did he ever tell you why they hate you so much?"

His breath hitched, his mind flashing back to the countless glares, the cruel whispers, and the isolation he'd endured for as long as he could remember. He clenched his fists, his teeth grinding. "He… he couldn't stop them. He's the Hokage—he has to protect the whole village. He couldn't just focus on me…"

"And yet," Haku said softly, stepping closer, "he didn't even tell you the truth about why the villagers treat you that way. He left you in the dark, Naruto-kun. He let you suffer without explaining anything."

He shook his head, his fists trembling. "That's not fair. He's done the best he could. He's the Hokage! He's a good person!"

"We're not saying he's not,"

"But even good people can make mistakes. Even good people can overlook what's right in front of them."

"We're not asking you to stop trusting him," Miku added, her tone unusually calm. "We're just saying… don't trust him blindly. Don't assume he's always doing what's best for you."

He stared at the ground, his emotions swirling. He wanted to defend the Hokage, to argue that the old man had always cared about him. But deep down, he couldn't deny that there was truth in their words.

She stepped closer

"We're not telling you what to do, Naruto-kun. You don't have to follow our advice right now. Just… think about it, okay? That's all we're asking. Think."

The misty silence stretched between them for a moment before He finally spoke again. "Alright, fine. Let's say I listen to you. What am I supposed to tell the old man when he asks me what happened on the hill? He's going to want to know, and I can't just say 'nothing.'"

The hollow girl grinned, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Easy. You lie."

"Lie?! Are you serious? I can't lie to the Hokage!"

"Sure you can," Miku said with a shrug. "It's not that hard. You just need to make it believable."

Naruto hesitated, the weight of their words sinking in. "So… what do I say?"

She clapped her hands together, her grin widening. "Simple. Just tell him you ran into a rogue ninja. Say you fought them, but you got knocked unconscious. It's vague enough to be believable, and it explains why you don't remember much."

"That… might actually work," He admitted reluctantly.

Haku nodded, her expression serious. "It's the safest option, Naruto-kun. You don't have to give him all the details. Just enough to satisfy his questions."

He crossed his arms, still looking unsure. "I don't know if I can pull it off. I've never been good at lying."

"Then it's time to learn.

"Come on, Naruto. Repeat after me: ''I ran into a rogue ninja.'"

He sighed, rolling his eyes. "Fine. I ran into a rogue ninja."

"And?" Miku prompted, her grin widening.

He thinks for a moment. "Uh… they were really strong, and we fought, but I got knocked out?"

"Not bad," the white hair girl said, nodding in approval. "Now say it with a little more confidence. You've gotta sell it, Naruto. If you hesitate, the Hokage will know you're lying."

He straightened up, his blue eyes narrowing as he tried again. "I ran into a rogue ninja. They were strong, but I fought them. I got knocked out, and when I woke up, I was back at Tazuna's house."

She clapped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. "Perfect! Short, simple, and vague enough to avoid too many follow-up questions. You're a natural, Naruto-kun!"

Haku smiled softly. "That's good, Naruto-kun. Just keep it simple. The more details you add, the easier it is to trip yourself up."

Naruto couldn't help it—he snorted, a small laugh escaping him despite himself. "You know what, Haku-chan? You're not wrong about that."

The laughter slowly died down, and the misty atmosphere grew quieter. Naruto stood there, looking at the two souls, a strange mix of warmth and curiosity building inside him. The playful banter had eased his nerves, but it also reminded him of something—a question that had lingered in the back of his mind for as long as he could remember.

"Haku… Miku…" Naruto began, his voice uncharacteristically hesitant. "There's something I've always wondered about."

Haku tilted her head, her serene smile returning. "What is it?"

He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck as his cheeks flushed. "Well, I've never really known… I mean, nobody ever told me… who my parents were."
