Chapter 13: Reaction

Hey everyone! I'm back with a new chapter! I had some trouble keeping track of everything and got things mixed up, but I finally fixed it. I hope you guys enjoy this chapter of Spectacular Spider-Men!

I want to thank Cloud4012 and Kival737101 for letting me use their OC characters. I don't own anything except my own OC.

Anyway, sit back, relax, review, and enjoy!

We find ourselves on the bustling streets of New York City, where Spider-Man and Shadow Spider are on patrol.

"Shadow, any sign of the Goblin on your end?" Spider-Man asked, speaking through the communicator built into his mask.

"Nope, not at all. No sign of him, Spidey. How about you? And what about the girls—Ms. Marvel and Martian girl?" Shadow Spider replied, his voice crackling through the communicator.

On the other side of the city, Martian girl soared through the air, her sharp eyes scanning the ground below.

"Nothing so far. Are you sure you gave me the right description?" Martian girl asked.

"Yeah, a guy with green skin. Pretty hard to miss," Ms. Marvel chimed in from the streets below, jogging along the sidewalk while keeping an eye out.

"He's a green-skinned dude who flies around on a glider, laughs like a maniac, and throws pumpkin bombs everywhere. Trust me, you can't miss him," Spider-Man added dryly.

"Oh, and let's not forget the pet—a freaky man-spider," Shadow Spider remarked, swinging through the city with ease.

"Well, if that's the case, I guess he's not flying today," Martian girl said, her tone light but focused.

"Or bringing along his creepy man-spider," Ms. Marvel added with a slight shudder.

Spider-Man sighed. "Alright, sounds like a no-show. Let's call it a day. I'll meet you all at the football game later." With that, he cut the link to the other heroes.

"Got it. See you, Spidey!" Shadow Spider said, leaping off a nearby wall and swinging through the air.

Moments later, he regrouped with Martian girl and Ms. Marvel, the three of them exchanging quick smiles before heading off together.

Shadow Spider swung gracefully into place, landing beside Martian girl on a rooftop. Ms. Marvel was already waiting below, leaning against a brick wall.

"So, Goblin's a no-show. Guess that's a win for us," Shadow Spider said, crouching on the edge of the building and glancing down at Ms. Marvel.

"Yeah, but it's weird," Ms. Marvel replied, looking up at him. "Goblin's not the type to just go radio silent. He's either up to something big or—"

"Or we're in for a long, chaotic night," Martian girl finished, descending from the sky and folding her arms. "You think he's laying low, or is this the calm before the storm?"

Spider-Man's voice crackled through their comms. "It's definitely suspicious. Goblin never does anything quietly. Keep your eyes peeled, and don't get too comfortable."

Shadow Spider smirked, adjusting his mask. "Comfortable? Spidey, I'm literally on edge—rooftop edge, to be exact."

"Ha, ha," Spider-Man said dryly. "Just remember, football game later. Don't be late, Shadow. I've seen your 'fashionably late' routine before."

"Hey, saving lives sometimes takes a little longer than expected," Shadow Spider shot back playfully.

Ms. Marvel chuckled. "You two bicker like siblings. It's kinda cute, actually."

"Don't encourage him," Spider-Man quipped.

Martian girl tilted her head, a sly smile playing on her lips. "Speaking of the game, anyone else think it's weird that we're talking about high school football after spending the day hunting down a supervillain?"

"Not weird—balanced," Shadow Spider said, leaping down to join Ms. Marvel. "We save the city, then we cheer on the team. Classic hero schedule."

"Plus, I heard there's going to be nachos," Ms. Marvel added. "Priorities, people."

Spider-Man's voice interrupted their banter. "Alright, let's regroup at the field. But stay sharp. Goblin's unpredictable. If he's planning something, we need to be ready."

"Got it, Spidey. See you there," Aether said, launching herself into the sky.

"Later, Spidey!" Ms. Marvel said as she stretched her arm to grab a nearby lamppost and swung into the distance.

Shadow Spider paused for a moment, looking toward the horizon. "You know, if Goblin does show up later, he's probably going to regret ruining my nachos."

"Just don't let him mess up your mask," Spider-Man replied with a chuckle before the line went silent.

Shadow Spider grinned beneath his mask, firing a web and swinging off into the city to meet up with the team.

Landing on the side of a building, Spider-Man spotted two thieves stealing a car carrier loaded with exotic cars.

"Stop! Police!" a man shouted as the thieves sped away.

"We did it!" one of the thieves cheered—until they heard a knock on the windshield.

Turning, they saw Spider-Man perched on the truck, casually staring at them.

"You know, you really shouldn't jinx these things," Spider-Man quipped, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Spider-Man?!" they both gasped.

"I'll shake him off!" the driver growled, swerving the truck violently to throw Spider-Man off balance.

"Oh wow, yeah, that's totally effective," Spider-Man said, clinging effortlessly to the truck. "I'm so scared right now."

"Forget this! I'm outta here!" the passenger yelled, pulling a switch to drop the ramp as he climbed out of the cab.

As the driver tried to make his escape too, Spider-Man shot a web at him.

"I don't think so, buddy. Why don't you do us all a favor and hit the brakes?" Spider-Man suggested.

"I can't! I swear!" the driver cried, panicking.

Spider-Man's eyes widened under his mask as he spotted the passenger cutting the brake line. "That little sneak cut the brakes!"

While Spider-Man scrambled to secure the situation, the passenger released the controls on the front car. It rolled off the carrier and onto the street as the passenger climbed into it, revving the engine.

"Oh no, this isn't good!" Spider-Man muttered.

Just as the runaway truck seemed headed for disaster, a hand reached in from the side, gripping the controls. Slowly but surely, the truck began to decelerate.

A familiar voice called out, cutting through the chaos.

Looking to the front of the truck, Spider-Man saw Shadow Spider perched on the hood, a smirk visible through his mask.

"Need a hand, Spidey?" Shadow Spider asked, his tone light but focused.

"From you? Absolutely. You stop this truck, I'll handle the runaway car," Spider-Man said, launching himself onto the roof of the truck before swinging off after the stolen car.

Shadow Spider nodded, planting his feet firmly on the hood. With a surge of strength, he braced himself and began to push back against the speeding truck.

As he struggled to slow it down, Shadow Spider spotted an elderly blind man tapping his way across the street, completely unaware of the danger barreling toward him.

"Not on my watch," Shadow Spider muttered. Using every ounce of his strength, he slammed his palms against the truck, gritting his teeth as the massive vehicle screeched to a halt just inches from the man.

Breathing heavily, Shadow Spider leapt down and approached the old man, extending a hand. "Would you like a hand, sir?"

"Oh, thank you, young man," the elderly man said with a kind smile as Shadow Spider helped him safely to the sidewalk. The man remained blissfully unaware of who had just saved him.

Meanwhile, down the street, a scrawny man with glasses walked alongside a striking woman with long black hair. They were chatting when the runaway car came careening toward them.

Spider-Man swung in just in time, firing a web that pulled the two bystanders out of harm's way.

"You can thank me later, lovebirds," Spider-Man quipped, landing beside them. He had accidentally webbed them close together, their faces inches apart.

Both blushed furiously as they stammered awkward thank-yous, wriggling against the sticky web.

"You're welcome!" Spider-Man called over his shoulder, swinging toward the speeding car.

Landing on the hood of the stolen vehicle, Spider-Man stared through the windshield at the terrified driver.

"I'll shake him! I'll shake him!" the thief shouted, swerving the car wildly to throw Spider-Man off.

"Right, because that worked so well on the truck a minute ago," Spider-Man mocked, gripping tightly as the car whipped down the road.

The thief's desperate maneuvers only made things worse. Cars screeched to a halt all around them, and several vehicles collided in a chain reaction of fender-benders.

"Great job, genius. Now you're adding to your bill!" Spider-Man shouted, ducking as the car narrowly missed a delivery truck.

Frustrated, Spider-Man had had enough. He reached into the open window and yanked the thief out of the car with one fluid motion.

"No free rides for you!" Spider-Man quipped, firing a web to tie up the thief and hanging him upside down from a streetlight.

Just then, Shadow Spider landed beside him.

"Nice catch," Shadow Spider said, glancing at the thief as he struggled against the webbing.

"Teamwork makes the dream work," Spider-Man replied, giving Shadow Spider a fist bump. "Now, how about we grab a coffee? My treat."

"You're buying? I'll swing to that," Shadow Spider joked as the two heroes disappeared into the city skyline, leaving the thief dangling for the police to handle.

As night fell, Jaden raced to the game, his phone ringing just as he approached a stoplight.

"Hello?" Jaden answered, slightly out of breath.

"Jaden, so glad I caught you," Norman Osborn's voice replied from the other end. He sat in his office, a calculating smile on his face.

"Oh, hey, Mr. Osborn. I'm just about to catch Harry's big game," Jaden said, glancing at the time.

"That's nice," Norman said dismissively, brushing aside the small talk. "Listen, Harry tells me you've landed a job working for Zeke Andrews. That's quite impressive. Some of my best scientists can't even get through the door at Andrews Industries."

"I wouldn't call it impressive," Jaden said modestly. "I mostly just get Mr. Andrews his coffee and keep track of his schedule. It's nothing too fancy."

"Don't be so modest," Norman said, walking to the window of his office and gazing out over the city. "You wanted a job, and when life presented an opportunity, you took it. That takes initiative."

"Well," Jaden began, waiting for the light to change, "what can I say? I got tired of hearing 'no' from normal jobs, so I went for something different—and it paid off."

"Exactly," Norman said, his voice filled with approval. "This world rewards those who take action. If you want something done, you have to want it more than anything else, even when the odds seem stacked against you. That drive—that hunger—is rare, Jaden. But you and I, we share it."

"Thanks, Mr. Osborn. That really means a lot," Jaden said, a genuine smile forming.

"It's a shame your father isn't here to see what you've accomplished," Norman continued, his tone softer now. "But if you ever want to talk, I'm just a call away."

"I might take you up on that offer, Mr. Osborn. Thanks for calling," Jaden said, ending the call as the light turned green.

Jogging across the street, Jaden arrived at the game just as the final minutes were ticking down. Excitement buzzed in the air, but as he neared the entrance, his Spider-Sense tingled sharply, making him freeze mid-step.

Instinctively, he glanced around but saw nothing. His senses remained on edge until, out of the corner of his eye, he caught the faintest flicker of movement.

"Jake, I know it's you," Jaden said with a smirk, crossing his arms.

There was a small shimmer in the air before Jake dropped his invisibility, a playful grin on his face.

"Aw, come on! How'd you know?" Jake said, feigning disappointment.

"Spider-Sense, genius," Jaden teased. "You've gotta step up your stealth game if you're gonna sneak up on me."

Jake shrugged. "Fair enough. But hey, it was worth a shot!"

"Keep practicing," Jaden said with a chuckle, giving Jake a light punch on the shoulder. "Now come on, the game's almost over, and I'm not missing Harry's big moment because you wanted to play ninja."

"Deal," Jake replied with a laugh, following Jaden toward the field.

In the stands, Gwen, Mary Jane, Glory, and Jake were cheering as the team broke into formation.

"It's a nail-biter, folks! The Midtown Mustangs are down by 5 with the ball on their own 40-yard line and six seconds to go!" the PA announced.

"Excuse me," Jaden said as he slid into a seat next to MJ and Glory.

"Hey, tiger, just getting here?" MJ asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, had to show a friend from out of town around the city," Jaden replied, glancing at Jake, who waved casually. "What about you? What are you doing here?"

"Flash invited me," MJ said with a shrug.

"Flash?" Jaden repeated, clearly puzzled.

On the field, Flash received the ball and threw it across the field just before being tackled.

Running at full speed, Harry sprinted toward the end zone, hands outstretched. The ball landed squarely in his grasp as he crossed the line.

"And touchdown! Osborn makes an unbelievable catch!" the PA roared, igniting the entire crowd into cheers.

"Wow, MJ, you and Flash, huh?" Jaden teased. "I mean, I know you only went with me to the dance because of our matchmaking moms, but…"

"Relax, tiger," MJ said with a playful grin. "Sure, the dance was fun, but you and I? We're just good friends now. No matchmaking necessary." She stood up, smoothing her skirt. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go congratulate Flash."

As MJ walked off, Jaden leaned back in his seat.

"Man, tough luck, dude," Jake said, nudging him.

Jaden smirked. "Oh, please, like I didn't see that coming."

"Fair enough," Jake replied. "Still, tough crowd."

Just then, Liz walked up the stairs, stopping a few steps below them. "Hey, Jadey."

"Hey, Liz. Saw you cheering—you girls really got the crowd hyped," Jaden said, giving her a nod.

"Thanks," Liz said with a soft smile. "So, uh, we're all heading to Coney Island tomorrow to celebrate the win. You coming?"

"Yeah, that actually sounds like a lot of fun," Jaden said, perking up.

"You better not flake," Jake teased, leaning in with a grin. "I'll drag you there if I have to."

Liz laughed. "Good. See you tomorrow!" she said before heading off.

In the locker room, Harry stood at his locker, pulling off his gear.

"Hey, Osborn! We're going on a burger run. You in?" Randy called as the football team gathered their things.

"You guys go on ahead. I'll catch up," Harry replied with a tired smile.

As the jocks left, Harry leaned against his locker, panting heavily. His hands trembled as he opened his bag, revealing a canister of green liquid. Without hesitation, he grabbed it and chugged the entire thing.

Gwen stood near the door to the locker room, waiting for Harry to come out. A janitor walked past, locking up the building.

"Excuse me, my friend is still in there," Gwen said, pointing toward the doors.

"Sorry, not likely," the janitor replied. "I just checked—nobody's in there." He shrugged and walked off, leaving Gwen with a worried look on her face.

In the lab, Norman Osborn watched as Dr. Otto Octavius prepared to test his mechanical arms. The gleaming apparatus was securely attached to Otto's back, its four tentacle-like extensions twitching with mechanical precision as the activation sequence began.

"But what about Spider-Man?" Otto asked, his voice trembling. "He's battled the Sandman and the Rhino—and now I hear he's working alongside Shadow Spider. Two heroes together are far more dangerous. What if they trace it all back to OSCORP? To me?"

Norman leaned in, a steely glare in his eyes as he placed a microchip on the back of Otto's harness. The arms powered up with a low hum, their lights glowing ominously.

"Enough," Norman snapped, his tone cold and dismissive. "You whine more than my son. I can't have weak men in my organization, Otto. If you want to work for me, you need to focus on results—not fear."

For a moment, a dark thought crossed Otto's mind as he stared at Norman. With a single command, he could use the arms to crush Norman against the wall. The temptation lingered, but Otto hesitated, his fear overtaking his anger.

"Octavius? Are you in there?" Norman's sharp voice broke through Otto's thoughts, snapping him back to reality.

"Yes. I'm sorry," Otto stuttered, lowering his head. "I'll do what I'm told."

"That's all I ask," Norman said, smirking as he turned to leave. "Now, get back to your experiments, Doctor Octopus."

"Mr. Osborn, please! I've told you before, that name is—"

But Norman had already walked out, leaving Otto fuming. "Demeaning," Otto muttered under his breath.

One of Otto's mechanical arms reached over, removing the safety key from the machine and placing it on the counter.

"Safety key removed. Experimentation will not continue until the key is reinserted," the computer announced.

Otto sighed, stepping into the machine carefully. Using the mechanical arms, he began repairing the device. What he failed to notice was the Goblin's green-gloved hand reaching out, picking up the safety key.

Suddenly, the key was reinserted into the console.

"Safety key has been reinserted. Experiment will commence in 30 seconds," the computer stated.

Panic surged through Otto as he realized what had happened. "Who turned on the key?! Please let me out! I'm still inside!" he screamed, frantically trying to escape.

The door sealed shut, trapping him inside as the Goblin's maniacal laughter echoed through the lab.

"No! Let me out!" Otto yelled, slamming his mechanical arms against the walls of the chamber.

The electromagnetic radiation surged to life, bombarding Otto and his arms with intense energy. Sparks flew, and the harness glowed red-hot. The microchip on his back, the very thing that allowed him to control the arms, fused painfully into his spine.

Otto's screams filled the lab as the light from the machine grew blinding. Outside, the glow from OSCORP could be seen illuminating the night sky.

Unbeknownst to Otto, Norman watched from a hidden observation room, a sinister grin on his face. "Welcome to the next step, Octavius."

Landing on a rooftop, Spider-Man perched on the edge, peering down at OSCORP. Beside him, Shadow Spider shimmered into visibility, his figure outlined by faint sparks of electricity.

"What's the situation?" Shadow Spider asked, his voice steady but tinged with concern.

Spider-Man pointed toward the building. "That's OSCORP. Harry's dad might still be in there. We need to move."

Shadow Spider glanced at the distance. "Then let's make it quick. I'll scout ahead."

With that, Shadow Spider turned invisible again, his faint footsteps a whisper as he leapt across to another rooftop.

"I've always wanted to try this," Spider-Man muttered. Shooting two webs to the nearby ledge, he stepped back and slingshotted himself through the air.

Back at OSCORP Norman Osborn stormed into the lab to find chaos. A group of men in hazmat suits was frantically trying to open a sealed door.

"What's going on here?" Norman barked.

"It's Dr. Octavius, sir. He's still inside. The doors are locked, and the system's malfunctioning!" one of the technicians explained, his voice shaking.

"Out of my way!" Norman growled, shoving through the group. Taking out an override key, he inserted it into the console.

"Security override, N-O 1 engaged."

The heavy doors hissed open, releasing a cloud of smoke that poured out of the chamber. Norman shielded his face, coughing.

"Octavius? Octavius? Where are you?" Norman called out. Through the haze, he spotted Otto slumped under rubble.

Suddenly, Shadow Spider materialized from thin air, electricity crackling from his fingertips. "I got this," he said firmly.

With swift movements, Shadow Spider used his venom blast to destroy a chunk of the rubble, while his organic webs latched onto the remaining debris, yanking it aside.

"He's free!" Shadow Spider called as the hazmat team rushed in to pull Otto out.

Norman leaned over Otto, who groaned as he started to wake. "Otto. Otto, are you okay?" Norman asked.

Otto's eyes opened, but instead of gratitude, they burned with rage. Memories of Norman's earlier taunts flashed through his mind.

"I will not be weak," Otto growled, rising shakily to his knees.

"Otto, get up," Norman ordered.

But Otto's mechanical arms moved first. One snapped out, grabbing Norman by the throat and slamming him against the wall.

"Silence, you imperious moron!" Otto snarled.

"Hey! Easy, Doc!" Spider-Man shouted, swinging in and firing a web at the arm holding Norman. "I think the whole 'choking your boss' thing is frowned upon in employee manuals."

Otto's other arms lashed out, grabbing Spider-Man mid-air and slamming him against the wall next to Norman.

"For the record, I tried to save you too," Spider-Man groaned.

"You tracked me down! You tried to destroy me!" Otto accused, his voice dripping with venom.

"Destroy you? I don't even know you!" Spider-Man retorted, struggling against the grip.

Suddenly, Shadow Spider turned invisible again and dashed forward. "Let him go!" His voice echoed as he fired a venom blast, striking one of Otto's arms and forcing it to release Spider-Man.

Otto roared, swinging another arm at Shadow Spider, but the hero dodged, fading in and out of visibility as he nimbly avoided the attack.

"You'll have to try harder than that, Doc," Shadow Spider taunted, flipping backward and shooting a web at Otto's face.

Otto ripped the webbing off with one of his arms, growling in frustration. "You fools think you can stop me?! I am not Otto. Otto was weak. I am… Doctor Octopus!"

"Yeah, well, Doc," Spider-Man quipped, back on his feet, "most people say 'thank you' when you save them from being crushed. But hey, you do you."

Otto's arms slammed down, cracking the floor and sending shockwaves through the lab. Shadow Spider quickly fired a webline to stabilize himself, electricity sparking along the fibers as he charged up another venom blast.

The fight escalated. Otto swung wildly with his mechanical arms, smashing equipment and sending debris flying. Spider-Man dodged gracefully, landing a kick to Otto's side, while Shadow Spider fired webs to entangle the arms.

"You two are merely delaying the inevitable!" Doctor Octopus bellowed.

"Yeah, well, we're good at that!" Spider-Man shot back.

Otto's harness began to beep. He smirked, grabbing a small device from his belt. "As much fun as this has been, I have places to go and plans to execute. Your demise will have to wait!"

Before either hero could stop him, Otto smashed through a window with his arms, leaping out into the night.

Spider-Man and Shadow Spider rushed to the broken window, watching as Doctor Octopus disappeared into the city.

"Great. Another megalomaniac with too many arms," Spider-Man sighed.

"And here I thought we'd get a quiet night for once," Shadow Spider muttered, shaking his head.

The two stood in silence for a moment before Shadow Spider's electric sparks flickered faintly again.

"Let's go," Shadow Spider finally said, turning to leap into the night.

"After you," Spider-Man replied, following close behind.

Back at the high school, Gwen was about to leave when she noticed Harry collapsed on the ground near the fountain.

"Harry!" Gwen gasps running to him. "Harry, are you okay?"

"Huh?" Opening his eyes, Harry sees Gwen. "Gwen?"

"Harry, what happened?" Gwen asks.

"Happened? Game wiped me out, that's all." Harry assures standing up.

"So you took a nap on the cement?" Gwen asks.

"Gwen, look, you know I don't need a fancy feather bed to…"

"Harry get serious." Gwen interrupts.

"Please, I'm too beat for "serious" tonight. But hey a bunch of us are going to Coney Island tomorrow. Come along, it's been a while since you and I hung out." Harry offers avoiding the question.

"And then we'll talk?" Gwen asks.

"Oh totally. Totally." Harry said leaving but Gwen was not convinced.

Meanwhile, at the Daily Bugle, Ned was pitching a story to Robbie.

"Ned, you're already working the Spider-Men story. At least you're supposed to be," Robbie pointed out.

"I am. I am. But, Chief, I think this Goblin thing is part of the same story. I feel it in my gut," Ned assured him.

"Think? Feel? That's reason enough for me to give the Goblin story to Foswell," Robbie said, shaking his head as Jameson walked in.

"Foswell! Lee! I'm not paying you to stand around! Never mind. What do you think of my son, Colonel John Jameson?" Jameson asked, his usual booming voice filling the room.

"He's a modern American hero," Foswell replied in a monotone voice.

"That's what I love about you, Foswell. Get yourself a plane ticket down to Cape Canaveral to cover my son's space shuttle launch. Now go! Come on, go!" Jameson ordered, ushering Foswell out of the room.

Turning back to Robbie, Ned tried again, pleading with his eyes.

"Oh, fine. Green Goblin and Spidey's," Robbie relented, waving him off. A grin spread across Ned's face as he rushed to get started.

In a small, dimly lit apartment, the walls were covered with old photos and newspaper clippings. Suddenly, the door was smashed open by Doctor Octopus as he stormed in, his mechanical arms tearing through the wood and plaster.

"I cannot believe I once lived in this hovel. Well, no more!" Doc Ock snarled, his tentacles smashing through the furniture. "And no more, 'Yes, Mr. Osborn,' 'I'm sorry, Mr. Osborn,' 'Please, Mr. Osborn.' How I groveled before that man!" His voice seethed with bitterness as his mechanical arms gripped the walls tightly, leaving deep gouges. "But soon, the whole world will grovel before my genius."

Opening the hatch on his harness, Doc Ock inserted the disk he had stolen earlier. A faint hum of energy coursed through his mechanical arms as he smirked.

"I need a more permanent solution to put an end to Spider-Man and Shadow Spider—his little partner in crime. They're both thorns in my side," he growled, his voice dripping with venom.

As he turned, Doc Ock noticed one photo lying on the ground. It was an image of himself from before the accident—standing proud, confident, human. His gaze hardened, and with a swipe of his arm, he shredded the picture.

"No more weakness," he muttered, his mechanical arms twitching in anticipation. "It's time for the world to meet the true genius of Doctor Octopus."

The next day at Coney Island, the kids from Midtown High were enjoying the festive atmosphere. Cheers erupted as Harry won the Test Your Strength game with an impressive swing.

"Damn, Osborn, where you hiding all that muscle?" Randy asked with a playful grin as Gwen joined the group.

"Harry, there you are!" Gwen called out.

"Glad you could make it! Come on, guys—corn dogs on me!" Harry said, leading everyone toward the food stands.

"But Harry—" Gwen tried to interject as Mia walked over, carrying several stuffed toys.

"Hey, Gwen!" Mia greeted warmly.

"Mia," Gwen said, smiling. She glanced at the toys Mia held. "Wow, you look like you're having fun."

"Yeah," Mia admitted, holding up one of the plushies. "This is my first time coming to a place like this."

"You've never been to an amusement park before?" Gwen asked, surprised.

"Nope. We, uh... didn't really have these where I grew up," Mia explained with a small shrug.

"Oh wow," Gwen said, her surprise lingering. Just then, Jaden walked up, accompanied by Jake.

"Hey, girls," Jaden said, offering a friendly wave.

"Hey, Jaden! Jake!" Gwen said, her tone lightening.

"Looks like you're all having a blast," Jake added, giving Mia a quick peck on the cheek. "Having fun, babe?"

Mia blushed slightly, smiling. "Yeah, actually. This place is amazing."

Gwen raised an eyebrow and smirked at the affectionate display. "You two are cute, you know that?"

Jaden chuckled. "Alright, Gwen, what's up? You looked worried earlier."

"It's Harry," Gwen said, her tone serious.

"What did Flash make him say or do this time?" Jaden assumed with a knowing grin.

"No, no—it's not Flash. It's Harry. Just... Harry," Gwen explained.

"Come on, Gwen. I think we both knew the popularity would go to his head a little," Jaden teased.

"Jaden, listen to me, please," Gwen insisted, grabbing his hands. "I'm worried about him."

Jaden's expression softened. "Okay, okay. We'll talk to him, but let's do it later. Look at him—he seems happy for once. If things are bad, maybe a day to relax and unwind is just what he needs."

Gwen hesitated before nodding slightly. "I guess you have a point... but it feels like there's more to it."

Before they could continue, Liz appeared out of nowhere, grabbing Jaden's arm.

"Hey, Gwen! Hey, Mia! Mind if I borrow Jadey for a minute?" Liz asked, dragging him off before he could protest.

"Whoa! Uh—okay. We'll talk later, Gwen!" Jaden called back, his voice fading into the crowd. "Just try to relax today, alright?"

"Relax? Relax how?" Gwen muttered, frustrated.

Mia stepped closer, holding out a small stuffed white spider as a peace offering. "Want to hang out with me for the day? I promise I'll make it fun."

Gwen smiled at the gesture, accepting the plush toy. "Sure. Thanks, Mia."

The two walked off together, the bustling sounds of the amusement park surrounding them as they tried to make the best of the day.

As Gwen and Mia walked away, Jake watched them go, a small smile on his face. Turning back to the bustling fairground, he decided to check out some of the prize booths. Spotting a game stand with some interesting collectibles, he weaved through the crowd, his focus on the prizes ahead.

Just as he reached for one of the booth counters, he accidentally bumped into someone.

"Whoa! Sorry about that!" Jake said quickly, stepping back.

The person he bumped into—a teenage girl with tan skin and long brown hair—stumbled slightly before catching her balance. She looked up, her brown eyes locking onto Jake.

"No, no, it's okay!" the girl said, brushing herself off. "I wasn't paying attention either."

Jake looked at her closely, something about her seemed oddly familiar, though he couldn't place it. "Hey, uh... have we met before? You look kinda familiar."

Kamala tilted her head, studying him. "I was about to say the same thing. You seem... familiar too."

They both stood there for a moment, trying to place where they might know each other from. Jake scratched the back of his head, his brow furrowed.

"This is gonna drive me crazy," he admitted with a chuckle. "You sure we've never met? I mean, maybe at school or something?"

Kamala shook her head. "No, not at school. I'm from Jersey City. What about you?"

"Queens," Jake replied. "So probably not school... Wait—have you been to Midtown High before?"

Kamala narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. Then, suddenly, something clicked. She stared at him for a moment, her expression shifting as realization dawned. "Wait a second... that voice."

Jake blinked, caught off guard. "Uh... what about my voice?"

Kamala gasped, pointing at him. "You're Shadow Spider! Aren't you?" she said in a hushed but excited tone.

Jake froze for a split second before glancing around to make sure no one else was listening. He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "How do you—? Wait, have we met while I was, you know, working?"

Kamala grinned. "Bingo! I knew I recognized you from somewhere! We crossed paths a few months ago when I was... uh, doing some work too. You were fighting that weird tentacle monster downtown!"

Jake's face lit up in recognition. "Oh! You're—" He stopped himself, remembering her identity wasn't public knowledge. "Ms. Marvel, right? Man, no wonder you looked familiar."

Kamala nodded, her grin widening. "Wow, I can't believe I just bumped into the Shadow Spider at a fair. Small world, huh?"

Jake chuckled. "Yeah, no kidding. So... what brings you all the way to Coney Island?"

Kamala shrugged. "Needed a break from everything back home. Plus, it's always nice to hang out somewhere new. How about you? Here with friends?"

Jake smiled. "Yeah, just spending the day with some classmates. Trying to take it easy, but, you know... hero life always finds a way to sneak back in."

Kamala nodded knowingly. "Tell me about it."

The two exchanged a laugh, and for a moment, it felt like they'd known each other for years.

"So," Kamala said, glancing at the prize booth, "what were you trying to win?"

Jake pointed to a small figurine of a superhero hanging on the prize rack. "That. It looks cool, doesn't it?"

Kamala grinned mischievously. "Tell you what—if I win it first, I get bragging rights. If you win, you owe me a soda. Deal?"

Jake smirked. "You're on."

The two stepped up to the booth, ready for a friendly competition, their conversation flowing easily as they enjoyed their unexpected reunion.

Spending the day with Liz, Jaden accompanied her on the Haunted Mansion ride. While the spooky atmosphere frightened Liz at first, Jaden gently placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, making her smile.

Next, they tried their luck at the water squirt game. While Gwen initially took the lead, Jaden surged from behind and clinched the win.

"Yes!" Jaden grinned in triumph—until Liz mischievously sprayed him with water. "Hey!"

Laughing, Jaden retaliated, playfully spraying her back, which made Liz giggle.

As the vendor handed Jaden a stuffed octopus dressed as a sailor, he held it out for Liz, who accepted it happily.

"Aw, thanks, Jadey," Liz said with a smile.

"You're welcome. You know, Liz, I'm really glad you invited me today. I needed this," Jaden replied.

"I'm glad too. Honestly, it feels like you've been full of surprises lately—trying out for the football team, standing up for your friend Harry at the dance, working for Zeke Andrews? No offense, but I used to think you were kind of a nobody," Liz admitted.

"None taken," Jaden chuckled. "Yeah, I guess you could say I'm full of surprises. But you're surprising too."

"Oh, you're just saying that," Liz said, brushing it off.

"No, I mean it. Liz, you're not just some cheerleader. You're smart, kind, and honestly, one of the funniest people I've ever met. I don't think you realize how amazing you are," Jaden said sincerely, causing Liz to blush.

As the sun began to set, Liz held out some cotton candy for Jaden, but it ended up sticking to his hand.

"Whoops. Sticky fingers," Jaden joked before eating the cotton candy stuck to him, making Liz laugh.

As they walked down another path, they crossed paths with Flash and MJ.

"Is it just me, or is this awkward?" MJ whispered to Flash as they approached.

Liz suddenly pointed toward something in the distance. "What's that?"

Following her gaze, Jaden saw a figure in a brown trench coat with dark shades. It was Doc Ock, making his way toward a nearby tech company not far from the amusement park.

Jaden clutched his stomach dramatically. "Ugh, my stomach... I think I overdid it with the carnival food," he groaned.

Without waiting for a response, Jaden bolted. "I gotta go! Don't follow!"

"Typical party pooper," Flash muttered. "Always leaves me holding the bag."

Both Liz and MJ glared at him in unison.

Meanwhile, back with Jake and Kamala, the two were sharing laughs as Kamala clutched her prize—a limited-edition action figure she had just won at one of the carnival games.

"Ha! Look at this, Jake!" Kamala teased, holding the figure up triumphantly. "Limited edition, mint condition, and cooler than anything you've got!"

Jake smirked, crossing his arms. "You're really enjoying this, huh?"

"Of course I am! Winning feels great!" Kamala said, spinning around and playfully waving the figure in front of Jake's face.

Before Jake could retort, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out, reading a text from Jaden:

"Doc Ock spotted near the tech building. Heading there now. Might need backup."

Jake's expression shifted instantly, growing serious. He glanced at Kamala, who was still admiring her prize.

"Hey, Kamala," he said, slipping his phone back into his pocket. "Wanna tag along on something... a little more exciting than carnival games?"

Kamala raised an eyebrow. "Exciting? What are you talking about?"

"You'll see," Jake replied with a grin.

She didn't hesitate. "Yes! Whatever it is, count me in!"

"Alright, follow me," Jake said as he led her toward a quieter part of the park. Once they were far enough from the crowds, Jake stopped and turned to Kamala.

"Okay, first thing's first. You've got a text," Jake said casually, nodding toward her phone.

Kamala blinked, pulling out her phone. Sure enough, there was a message from Spider-Man:

"Need your help. Meet me at the tech company near the park ASAP."

Her eyes widened as she looked up at Jake. "Wait, Spider-Man texted me?!"

Jake shrugged nonchalantly, trying to hide a smirk. "Guess he trusts you."

Kamala squealed in excitement, clutching her phone. "Oh my gosh! This is so cool! Spider-Man wants me to help with something! Let's go!"

"Hold on," Jake interrupted, holding up a hand. "We're gonna need to change first. Can't exactly show up like this, right?"

Kamala nodded eagerly. "Right, right. Let's suit up!"

The two quickly slipped away to get into their costumes—Kamala as Ms. Marvel, and Jake as Shadow Spider. Within minutes, they were heading toward the tech company, their usual banter in full swing as they prepared for whatever chaos Doc Ock had in store.

At Tri-Corp, Doc Ock breaks through the glass window. Security moves in to try and subdue him, but his mechanical arms send them flying.

"Ah, the old stomping grounds," Doc Ock smirks.

"Otto? Is that you?" Stepping out, a man in a suit and glasses gasps.

"Dr. Twaki, how nice to see you." Using his arm, Doc Ock grabs him and pulls him in. "Now perhaps you recall when I was last employed here, I was working on a prototype long-term power source."

"The—The Megalopack," Dr. Twaki recalls.

"My work! And when I departed, you took possession of it. Now in hindsight, does that seem fair?" Doc Ock asks as one of the mechanical arms clinks, scaring him.

"It's in R Vault 8!" Twaki panics.

"My lucky number," Doc Ock says, casting him aside.

Ripping open the vault doors, Doc Ock sees a small high-tech disk in a case. "Ah, like an old friend." Lifting up the case, he was about to grab it.

"Incoming! Coming through!" Swinging in, Spider-Man swipes the Megalopack out of Doc's grip.

"Spider-Man!" Doc Ock growls.

"Hey Doc, see you went shopping for a new look. Nice, really sells the evil mad scientist vibe," Spider-Man says.

"Hand over the device," Doc Ock demands.

"Sorry, but no. You didn't say the magic word," Spider-Man mocks.

"Then you invite your doom. You're in an enclosed space, web-slinger." Doc Ock says as his arms begin spinning like chainsaws. "Where to hide?"

As the mechanical arms lunge forward, Spider-Man fires a web at his face, blinding him.

Cringing, Doc Ock stops his attack, allowing Spider-Man to leap past him and swing through the hall.

"You will pay for this indignity, Spider-Man," he growls.

Entering the lobby, Spider-Man lands next to Dr. Twaki.

"Okay, for some reason, he wants this. What is it and what does it do?" Spider-Man asks.

"It's the Megalo-pack. A power source. Holds a sizable charge for years at a time," he explains.

"Ooh, that's not good. You should probably hide," Spider-Man suggests.

"Spider-Man!" Doc Ock calls out.

"So, Daddy Long Legs needs power. That's why he ran off back at OSCORP. I need to keep this away from him until he runs out of power," Spider-Man thinks, leaping out of the building.

However, before he could get away, his spider-sense went off. Turning around, Doc Ock smacks him with his arm, sending him crashing into the Ferris Wheel.

Looking up, both Shadow Spider and Miss Marvel heard the noise and gasped.

"Okay, maybe this won't be as easy," Spider-Man groans as he webs the Megalo-Pack to him.

As Doc Ock entered Coney Island, everyone ran in fear, but in the chaos, Gwen tripped and fell.

Looking up, she saw Harry sprint right past her.

"Gwen!" Running over, MJ tried to help her, but when Doc Ock spotted them—

Swinging his arm, he was about to crush them when Spider-Man swung in and grabbed them both.

"I could get used to this feeling," Spider-Man thought as both girls clung to him.

Landing with the others, Spider-Man let them go.

"Love to stay and chat, but I have a doctor's appointment," Spider-Man says.

Coming out from behind the corner, Doc Ock smacks Spider-Man, sending him flying into the Test Your Strength game.

"You couldn't wait until I sent them on their way?" Spider-Man groans.

"I am going to enjoy shutting you up for good," Doc Ock says when Shadow Spider and Miss Marvel step in, landing in front of him.

"I don't think so, Doc!" Shadow Spider says, his voice full of authority. "This party just got a little more... crowded."

Miss Marvel grins, bouncing on her heels. "Ready to see what we can do?"

Doc Ock sneers, his mechanical arms spinning as he faces them. "You think you can stop me?"

Without warning, Shadow Spider disappears from sight, activating his invisibility. Doc Ock's mechanical arms swing wildly, missing his target as Shadow Spider reappears behind him, charging up a venom blast.

"Surprise!" Shadow Spider says, sending a powerful electrical surge into Doc Ock, sending a jolt of pain through the villain's system. Doc Ock stumbles back but quickly recovers.

"Foolish child! You can't hide from me!" Doc Ock roars, his arms spinning in a frenzy.

Miss Marvel steps up, her fists glowing as she enlarges her arms. "Let me give you a hand!"

She slams both her enlarged fists into one of Doc Ock's mechanical arms, causing a loud crack. Doc Ock growls, pulling the arm back, but Miss Marvel is already in motion, swinging her arm around for another blow.

"Keep him busy, Spidey!" she calls out.

Spider-Man, still recovering, webs up Doc Ock's other arms, trying to bind them. Shadow Spider uses his venom blast again, electrifying the webs and shocking Doc Ock, who howls in frustration.

"You think you can win? You're not even close!" Doc Ock sneers, pulling his arms free with sheer strength.

Shadow Spider appears in front of him again, this time delivering a series of quick jabs to his torso with his organic, venomous weapons, which crackle with electricity.

Miss Marvel follows up, enlarging her fist again and launching it like a battering ram into Doc Ock's side, knocking him off balance.

Doc Ock stumbles, but quickly grabs a nearby carnival sign and flings it toward the heroes.

"Watch out!" Spider-Man yells, webbing the sign out of the air and swinging it to the side.

"You'll pay for that!" Doc Ock roars.

"That's where you're wrong," Shadow Spider mutters, disappearing once more.

"What's your deal with this guy?" Miss Marvel asks, her eyes narrowed.

"Let's just say, he's not on my list of favorite people," Spider-Man replies as he dodges another swipe from Doc Ock's mechanical arms.

Doc Ock sneers as he swings one of his arms toward Shadow Spider, but Miss Marvel launches herself into the air, her fist ready to strike.

"Let's finish this, together!" she yells, sending a massive punch that slams into Doc Ock, causing his mechanical arms to malfunction for a brief moment.

Using that opening, Shadow Spider appears behind him and delivers a final venom blast that knocks Doc Ock into a pile of debris.

The villain groans, struggling to get up but failing as the combined force of the heroes' attacks overwhelms him.

Panting heavily, the three heroes look at each other and smile. They've stopped Doc Ock, and saved Coney Island.

"Nice teamwork," Spider-Man says, looking at Shadow Spider and Miss Marvel.

"You bet!" Miss Marvel grins. "You might need some backup more often, Spider."

"Yeah," Shadow Spider adds, glancing at the incapacitated Doc Ock, "But next time, we get to do it my way."

As the three stand victorious, Spider-Man shakes his head, .

Soon, the police arrived to handle Doc Ock and secure the crime scene.

As Jaden and Jake joined the group, they noticed Liz and Flash sitting on a bench, keeping their distance from everyone.

"Hey, what's going on?" Jaden asked.

"Yeah, did someone die or something?" Jake added, glancing around with concern.

"What's going on?! Are you kidding me? They're breaking up! Flash Thompson and Liz Allen—Midtown's number one power couple—are calling it quits. And it's all your fault!" Sally accused, pointing at Jaden.

"My fault?" Jaden replied, baffled.

"Come on, how is it Jay's fault?" Jake asked, frowning at Sally.

"Dude, kudos on the ruthlessness," Harry said, giving Jaden a sly grin.

"What? No! I mean..." Jaden stammered as Glory and Sally went to comfort Liz, leaving him flustered.

"Tiger, now's not the best time," MJ said gently, watching the tense interaction.

"Yeah, I can tell Sally's really hostile towards you right now," Mia added, shaking her head.

Jaden sighed, frustrated. "I know this isn't the best time with the soap opera breakup and the supervillain drama, but we really need to talk to Harry," Gwen said, nudging Jaden.

"Fine. Let's just do this," Jaden muttered. He turned to look for Harry but noticed he had disappeared. "Wait, he was just here!"

"Bye, Jake. Mia," Jaden said as he headed off with Gwen.

"Bye, Jay," Jake called after him, turning his attention to Mia, who walked over and gave him a quick kiss.

"I really hope we don't end up like that," Mia said, nodding toward Liz and Flash.

"Oh, come on. That's never going to happen," Jake reassured her.

Just then, Kamala walked up to them with a smirk. "So, Jake, is this your girlfriend you never stop talking about?" Kamala teased, making Jake blush.

Mia giggled, nudging him playfully. "You've been talking about me, huh?"

Jake rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks red. "Uh... maybe a little."

Back at Harry's suite, he was laying in his room chugging down another beaker of the green with a smile on his face. Little did he know Hammerhead was talking to Norman in his study.

"We need to talk about the Green Goblin. The wacko's attacking all the Big Man's operations. And he's been using a lot of OSCORP Tech." Hammerhead accuses.

"My tech has been stolen. My top scientist is gone, my lab is destroyed and my projects are at risk. Why would I be behind this?" Norman asks showing footage of the Green Goblin sabotaging Otto.

"Yeah yeah, but the Goblin…" Hammerhead starts.

"Is a common enemy. An enemy we must unmask before its too late." Norman declares.
