Deep in Thought
Casey listened, even as he did his best to loosen the bolt on the underside of the Battleshell. It was really stuck, and he was going to have to figure a better angle to put his weight behind it.
"—but the ethics of the situation are questionable. Then again, much of the ethics of our situation are questionable as well, so there's not much room to judge—"
He'd thought about asking Donnie for help with it. Maybe with the two of them together they could pull hard enough to get it off.
"—of course, that would depend on what moral framework you ascribe to. While there are often commonalities, there are still often differences in definitions of things—"
Casey really didn't have any idea what Donnie was talking about. But he also didn't want to interrupt him. The guy was obviously deep in thought, and he was using Casey as a sounding board. Casey was alright with that. He just hoped Donnie didn't ask his opinion on anything.
"—So, I suppose it comes down to what you view as valid reasons for stealing things. Most people consider stealing for survival to be understandable, perhaps even acceptable. Stealing luxury items most people look down on—"
Casey shifted and pulled. Did it budge? He thought it budged a little. Maybe he could get this thing off.
"—but in our life I think I could make a case for a few dozen missiles being necessary for survival, which would make stealing from the military junkyard understandable, perhaps even acceptable—"
Nope, no dice. Maybe if he sprayed some more WD-40. At any rate, he'd keep working on this, and let Don work through his deep thoughts while he did. That's what car buddies did, after all.
