A/N: Can anyone see this? Notifications seem to be back, but its so hard to tell these days.
Welcome to Heaven should be updated tomorrow alongside other stories, hopefully.
In the end, it all comes down to time, which I have very little of these days.
Trying to get back into Baldur's Gate, just really busy. In other words, work, work, work. I took three days off last from writing not working, haven't had a proper day off in almost two weeks- but wit wy sister is recovering from surgery, now I need to see to my own health; today's going to be a rest day for me; so I'll be updating the plot bins and other teasers in lieu of a chapter.
So here we go. The fate of this story depends on you, the reader. Your feedback determines the fate of this tale, and many others.
As ever, I own no quotes, references, themes or memes. Not a wit or one. They're tributes, one and all.
I'm just a humble author trying to make his way in this wild world, one word at a time.
Time and feedback will determine if this remains a story. Simple as that.
In other words...its up to YOU, the reader. Do let me know~!
May this teaser live up to its title and tempt you!
"The best games are those with the highest stakes."
~?
Tempt Me
...interesting."
Mizora tilted her head.
Naruto watched in her in turn.
Regarded her intently now as she circled him slowly, wings tucked tight against her back. Her smoldering eyes blazed into his, never leaving him for a moment in the low light. It was easy to forget oneself and fall to fear in the dark. The flames of the campfire cast flickering shadows across her skin, made her horns see longer and sharper than they appeared, her teeth wicked fangs.
Anyone else might've been intimidated; terrified even, knowing what she was capable of. Not him. He'd prepared well in advance for this, and why shouldn't he? He'd been warned against this time and time again. Don't make deals with a devil, they said. Don't trust any of Zariel's people they said. And they were right. He certainly didn't put stock in anything she said. Likewise, she made no such deals. As such, there were no bargains to be had, nor would there be...yet.
He had something she wanted. As did she, him. It was a game; not of cat and mouse, but two monsters sizing one another up.
After all, the best games were those played the highest of stakes.
This was no exception.
He'd suggested that a Devil could fall in love. And in return, Mizora claimed even the most noble of beings -even people like him -could fall to depravity.
It was the game of all games; whomever broke first would be the loser, bound to the winner forever.
From a certain point of view, it was rather akin to marriage, then.
And she honestly thought she had a chance.
Silly girl. He'd wooed worse than Mizora in his heyday. Much worse. He had already won. She just hadn't realized it yet.
Wyll better appreciate this...
"That's quite the wager you've made." Mizora's mouth ghosted across his chin in a sudden scorching kiss, and though he could've broken her pretty little neck then and there -and in doing so damned Karlach's friend- he allowed it and let her flit away safely. "What manner of host would I be if I were to ignore such an enticing proposition...?"
Gotcha.
He held out his hand to hers. "Do we have a deal?"
"By all means." She seized his hand in hers. "Tempt me."
A/N: Aaaaaand scene.
Well? Should this become a story? Yay or nay, what say you? Not much else to say this time 'round. Reviews keep me writing, and without them, my inspiration falls flat. Ever bit of feedback helps. Pain hurts. Pain hurts a loooot. But silence from readers and reviewers? That hurts even more. As ever, reviews keep this old man alive during these dark and crazy times.
Seriously, we're all locked away anyways these days, feedback is all that sustains me.
So in the Immortal Words of Atlas... Review...Would You Kindly?
No previews this time; I haven't the heart for them...T_T
