Iconoclast

Foreword

Greetings.

While many of you might have read my previous work Veneration, many of you have not. So, I'll put this foreword here to explain a few things. This work (Iconoclast) is an overhaul and improvement of Veneration. While I was and am proud of my first literary labor, it needed an overhaul. I made several errors, namely in how I opened the story. Without going into an overly detailed explanation, I ultimately decided to redo the story so it can achieve its greater potential. If you want to read my prior attempt in this larger project feel free, but know it's in no way necessary. Iconoclast will be the complete form of what "Veneration" was meant to be, therefore it will contain all necessary information to understand the story I am attempting to write.

That said Iconoclast will be somewhat different from what I presented in the limited release of Veneration. Not drastically in tone, but there will be some shades of difference.

One thing of note, and this is something I should have done with Veneration. I'll be placing content warnings in chapters I believe contain material that is explicit, whether of a physical nature or more psychological. I know that won't stop people from reading it who shouldn't, this is the internet after all. But I feel obligated to at least give people fair warning. I believe this will be necessary as Iconoclast will contain many adult and dark elements that might be unsuitable for children or induce anxiety in certain people. Again, this is the internet, people will get ahold of something if they want it, my intentions regardless. If you are not a legal adult of your country of residence or believe you might suffer severe anxiety due to reading material that contains adult content or other explicit content (including violence or trauma) beware reading this story. I'm placing it in the M-rated section for a reason.

This will be a project of passion. I do enjoy the Campione series, at least what I've found available in English. But I also have critiques. Therefore, I want to do my own presentation of Campione, along with other additional series I found interesting but never sat right with me. A thing of note though. This will not be a direct translation of the Campione verse, and I'm not referring just to the cross-over elements. Iconoclast will be a heavily AU fic, so expect significant differences in the logic, concepts, and background compared to the Campione verse written by Jō Taketsuki.

As for the cross-over nature of the story, it will mostly be a mesh of Campione! and Highschool DxD. I'll be borrowing heavily elements from both series, and others, but as I mentioned above there will be alterations to what I intake from them. What I'm trying to say is, I won't be strictly following the plot lines or themes of both series. Expect differences in the characters I borrow as well. They'll be behaving in accordance with my interpretation of them and whatever experiences I write for them.

Hopefully this iteration of the story is more coherent and enjoyable than Veneration was.

Enjoy.
