Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the unbelievable happened in the span of one hour. Batman plugged himself into the Skull Ship and while he couldn't stop the detonation sequence, he, with some aid from Spyro's Aether, managed to send the beta ships away from Earth just as they exploded. Horror-Show was notably pissed that his plan was ruined, so he siphoned some power from Enchantress and attempted to take revenge. But Superman took strange initiative and convinced Belial Aether to cast the spell Doctor Fate used to seal the ghoul away the first time, and then grabbed Horror-Show, flying him into space where Superman could absorb a lot of sunlight, and just as the spell field was cast, turned himself into a solar energy bomb, sealing Horror-Show away in the same prison he started in, but at the cost of his life. We resume our story, already in progress.
(Our scene picks up immediately as it left off, but back on the Skull Ship, where just about everybody is looking stunned at the sacrifice of Superman. The explosion is even visible from the ground, where the members of the respective factions are looking out and trying to figure out what just happened. But back on the Skull Ship, Brainiac looks out at Superman's death, but soon clutches his fist and turns back towards everyone)
Brainiac: You have cost me the complete knowledge of Krypton, now that it's last male has died. This will not go without a reckoning.
Enchantress: A reckoning I'm afraid you'll have to accomplish on your own.
Brainiac: Your deal was to aid me!
Enchantress: Until the part where you made it possible for someone to almost destroy us. So the Empire is cutting all ties with you. (Opens a mystic portal to the Nameless City) But something tells me you're smart enough to figure this out on your own.
(And with that, Enchantress is out of there. But Brainiac's bad day hasn't ended yet. As the ship's computer system reveals Batman has hit something else in the code)
Brainiac: (Seeing this) What are you doing?!
Batman: Returning what you took!
(And now we see exactly what Batman is doing, he's restoring the cities Brainiac has collected, first Atlantis and then Coast City. And then the beam shines down from the Skull Ship into the crater where Metropolis was. And at this point, everybody in the four fighting factions notices what's going on)
Flash: (Being first to respond, of course) Everybody out!
(Flash and Jay Garrick then start speeding around the area, getting everybody out of there despite the Brainiac drones fighting back. And once everyone is out of there, Batman literally drops a city on the Brainiac drones as Metropolis is restored. And back aboard the Skull Ship, Brainiac is pissed)
Brainiac: MY COLLECTION!
(Now operating with no logic to him, Brainiac charges the hull in an attempt to stop Batman from doing anything else, but Blaze gets in the way and straight up backhands Brainiac away just as Metropolis finishes reforming below them)
Blaze: It's over, Brainiac. Even you have to realize this. Your forces are either defected or dead, your ship is in our control, your allies have deserted you.
Supergirl: Your collecting spree stops here.
Brainiac: So you think...
(With that, Brainiac wrests control of the ship back from Batman by shocking him through the control system, forcing him to eject)
Brainiac: I will not go down without a fight.
Blaze: Well then, let's give him what he wants!
(And with that, the final battle against the last vestiges of the Society begins. Brainiac may have full command of his ship and it's defense systems again, but he's still outnumbered 7 to 1. Batman may be the weakest of the bunch, especially after getting shocked out of the system, but still manages to fire a few well placed Batarangs to disrupt Brainiac's concentration, allowing Supergirl, Black Diamond, and Belial Aether to just wail on him, and after a few minutes of this, this trio gets out of the way to let Spyro and Cynder blast the Coluan with Aether and Dark Aether. The peculiar mixture is just enough to knock Brainiac down. But he still doesn't give up. However, when he tries to attack back, he discovers something. He isn't controlling the ship anymore. And now we see why. In the struggle, Blaze took the Helm and took over the controls. Now Blaze uses the Skull Ship's defenses to smack Brainiac around a little bit before holding him down.)
Blaze: Like I said, Brainiac. It's over.
(And sure enough, it truly is. As Blaze locks the tendrils holding Brainiac down in place, she disconnects from the system, and looks down at the once mighty collector of worlds, beaten by his own ship, which now descends from the sky to just outside of Metropolis as if to symbolize his defeat, as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. And thus, one of the three enemy factions is eliminated. The Society is no more. Now only The Empire and The Regime remain. Truth be told, I had no idea how to end this battle after putting Superman's death in the previous chapter. Mainly because I couldn't think of a reason for Brainiac to go back on the attack. Then I realized, he'd be super pissed that the last male Kryptonian offed himself before Brainiac could collect him. That's enough for the Coluan to attack. And as to why Blaze is able to control the Skull Ship a lot better than Batman was? We'll get to that later. Right now, there's a victory to celebrate and a self-sacrifice to mourn. So, how will the Regime react to their High Councilor's death? Tune in next time to find out. Same time... same channel!
