YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! As of three days ago, I am officially a high school graduate. No more pesky school getting in the way, although I do have plans of getting a job so maybe that will get in the way but as of now, I don't need to worry about that. I just wanted to take some time to thank you all. You guys simply reading my stories gives me motivation to write more. Despite the past fuckery, which resulted in me not being able to have a proper celebration for the those years of school, you guys kept my head up. You guys made me feel like I was writing for a reason, the reason of entertaining at least a few of you. I've been writing since I came out to my friends and family, which was a month before Ultimate was released, and one year later I started posting on here. And now here we are...you guys essentially helped me realize who I am. I'm a writer. So I just want to thank you guys. It really does mean the world to me that you take time out of your day to read my stories. Thank you, and hopefully this will be a good one with a little surprise after the story.
Lucas was sitting at the dinner table, thinking. It was almost time. He was 17 and this was his last day of school. He wasn't planning on going to college or anything else in the further future. He was perfectly fine working at places like McKirby, Walmar-io, and Zelda Osco. He didn't need this high-paying job to be happy. Would it be convenient? Of course, it would. But convenience and happiness were never intertwined. Lucas knew that much. High School was a rocky road for him. It was a road of discovery. A road of betrayal. A road...that was at its end.
Graduation.
The word gave Lucas chills. He couldn't believe he made it. He couldn't believe his childhood was over. Adulthood was about to start. But he knew he wasn't alone. He had his dad, his mom, and his little doggy. But mainly, he had his brother, along with his crush. Not to mention the rest of the aptly named "PK Boys." A group of kids who were no longer kids. A group of adults. Friends. Lucas's protection squad, as Lucas's crush, liked to nickname them. It was an appropriate name. Lucas needed a lot of protection. Lucas was timid. He wasn't shy or depressed, or any of that. He was just timid. He wasn't huge on talking or being loud, not because he felt uncomfortable when doing so, just because he felt it was pointless. When he wanted to talk, he would talk, and others would listen.
Lucas wasn't alone at the table for long. He was soon joined by Claus, his twin brother, and bestest friend in the whole wide world. Claus sat in the chair adjacent to Lucas, kicking his feet up onto the table. "What're you sulking about this time?"
"Why you're such a dick?"
"It's my defining trait, Lulu. If I'm not the douchey older brother, am I really an older brother?" Lucas had a small smile as he rolled his head.
"Fucking dick."
"Yeah, whatever. But seriously, what's on your mind?" Lucas looked intently at Claus.
"W-we're going to be adults."
"Yeah. You excited?"
"I-I'm not sure. It's kinda scary."
"Being an adult?"
"Mhm."
"Why?"
"I don't know. It's just a lot of responsibility. Like bills and taxes, and other adulting stuff." Claus lowered his feet from the table back down to the floor. He knew this was a serious matter. He knew Lucas was truly feeling scared. It wasn't just a ruse.
"Lucas, you're the one person in our group who is the most capable of being a responsible adult. You're responsible, you're rational, you're fun, you just all around have a great head on your shoulders. Imagine TL as an adult." Lucas giggled at the thought. "But even more, imagine Villa."
"He'd probably get jail time."
"That's what I'm talking about." The two twins laughed together. Ever since they got into high school, they didn't spend as much time together as they used to. Claus had his boyfriend, Ninten, and Lucas had his best friend Ness. However, it seemed when they started spending less time together, they only grew closer. Claus was always there for Lucas, and Lucas was always there for Claus. No matter if they haven't spent time together for over a year, they still loved each other. They will always love each other. Lucas smiled before looking at Claus.
"Thanks, Claus."
"Of course." Claus patted Lucas's back. "Now then, let's see if that suit fits you. We want you to look snappy for prom, and for Ness." Claus winked, making Lucas blush and look away.
"I-I told you, I don't like him like that."
"And I told you, that's a load of bullshit served on a load of bullshit." Claus always knew how to make Lucas laugh. He looked back at Claus. The previous nervousness of becoming an adult was erased with the thought of Ness. Lucas did like Ness. Both the twins knew. They were the only ones who knew. Lucas just liked seeing Claus's reaction to him denying it.
"Ok, let's try it out." Claus shot up, with a wide-ass smile and eyes sparkling in their emerald beauty. Claus loved fashion. He may not seem like the type to love fashion, but he did. He loved fashion so much that he had plans to become a fashionista. For all of his previous designs, Lucas was always his clothing stand, testing all of his clothing's looks on him.
Claus dragged Lucas to his room and shut the door. "Alright, get those pesky clothes off of ya, they look horrible!"
"Hey, I never asked for your judgment on my fashion choices."
"You did when you became my brother. Stripes? Really? STRIPES?!"
"Hey, you used to wear stripes," Lucas said as he took his shirt off.
"Yeah, when I was 13. Not 17!" Lucas mocked his brother as he took the rest of his clothes off. They were lucky they were so damn comfortable together, or else Lucas wouldn't imagine being nude in front of him. Claus turned around with special tighty whities.
"Is that really what I'll be wearing?"
"Oh please, the only reason you were wearing boxers was because you knew I'd be doing this today. ALL you have are tighty whities."
"Shut up." Lucas snatched the underwear and put it on as Claus searched for the other things. Claus showed off the thin black khakis. The dressing up went on for a while. In the end, Lucas was dressed fully in a suit. The suit was the typical black and white scheme, which looked surprisingly well on the blonde. Alongside the black khakis was a pair of black dress shoes over white socks. The shirt was a white pleated wing top with a black vest over that. The vest had one pocket in the top right and a lower pocket in the bottom left. There were also two buttons, but only the top ones were buttoned together. Last, but not least, was a black bowtie, which acted as the cherry on top. Lucas fit perfectly into the outfit. "How do I look?"
"Great. Ness will love it." Lucas blushed a little before shaking his head.
"I didn't ask that. Asshole." Claus rolled his eyes before tossing him his normal clothes.
"Put these ugly ones back on."
"You're the ugly one."
"Says the one who's still a virgin." Lucas sighed loudly.
"ASSHOE!"
"You walked into it. Now get dressed, we need to be at the school in an hour." Lucas huffed before getting dressed. Claus left to retrieve both of their cap and gowns, which were being ironed by Hinawa. She hugged Claus, tears forming in her eyes.
"You boys are growing so fast," she emotionally said.
"Yeah, but Lucas is still the same."
"And most likely he'll always be." Hinawa stopped the hug and playfully pinched his cheek. "My baby boys." Claus faked his discomfort for her to stop.
"Yeah yeah yeah, love you, Mom."
"Love you too. Get on going to the school, we'll be there when the thing starts." Claus tilted his head, a big of an angered look now on his face.
"What about dad?"
"I...he has work hun, I-"
"Whatever." Claus walked off, not caring about what she had to say. Flint, the twins' dad, had a tendency to get too wrapped up in work. He was a police officer. He wasn't all that high-ranking. He was just a regular officer. But being an officer in a big town such as Ultimatum came with its negatives. While yes, Flint was protecting and serving the people of Ultimatum...he was also being ripped from his family. Due to the size and the number of people in Ultimatum, he was always in constant work. As soon as he thought he was done and could take a break, there'd be another robbery. Flint didn't want this. He wanted to spend time with his family, but he knew how deep of shit he was in. He didn't have the power to just take off work. He had reasons. Reasons he never told his family about.
Claus soon returned to Lucas, who was now fully dressed. He put the graduation outfits into one bag and the prom outfits into the closet since prom was the night of graduation so they'd have a few hours before Prom started. The two boys grabbed a quick snack, Lucas needed to hit the can because he was known to hold it for too long and Claus wasn't about to allow Lucas to have the chance to pee on himself during their big moment, then they finally left since their ride made it.
The car they'd be taking to Smash High was Ninten's. Despite his normally childish and immature attitude, he was actually very responsible. Ninten gave Claus a kiss. "Looking fine as always, Clausey," Ninten complimented as the twins got into the car. Lucas stuck his tongue out.
"Gross!" Lucas yelled.
"Relax, Lucas, we're going to get Ness next. Don't get your panties twisted. Hehe...panties." Claus smiled and rolled his eyes. He slapped Ninten's shoulder.
"Just drive you dope," he said. Ninten didn't waste much more time after that. He drove through the streets until he stopped at the small home of Ness. They were basically the Three Musketeers. The three main boys with a fourth one that didn't entirely fit in with the other three but was still in because they became too tight-knit.
Ness hopped into the car and smiled at Lucas. "Wassup Luke." Lucas smiled softly.
"Hey."
"Ready to become adults?" Ness asked as he buckled up. Lucas shrugged.
"I dunno. I am excited to get out of school though."
"Oh tell me about it." Ninten started the car back up and started driving toward the school. Lucas was rubbing his wrists. He wasn't worried about graduation. But Prom. He wanted to ask Ness to dance. He was nervous about him saying no. Ness noticed Lucas's anxiousness. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"He's scared that the person he'll ask to dance at prom will deny," Claus answered for him. Lucas appreciated the fact that Claus didn't mention Ness's name. Ness turned from Claus to Lucas with a gentle face.
"Hey, remember when we first met?" Lucas turned toward Ness.
"Of course I do."
Class started, leaving Lucas to be anxious. He was new to the city and to the school. Today, his teacher was going to introduce him to his new class. This was what Lucas was scared of. Claus wasn't nearly as scared, but even he had a small hint of fear and anxiousness. Claus put a hand on Lucas's shoulder. "Why're you so anxious?" Claus asked.
"I-it's a whole new school."
"But as long as we're nice to them, they should be nice to us, right?" Lucas rubbed his neck as the anxiousness only grew when he found out he needed to act in the way the people wanted him to act rather than how he wanted to act.
"I-I'm going to the bathroom!" Lucas ran off. Claus sighed. Lucas continued running further through the school until he finally found the bathroom. He barged in and ran into a stall. When safely in the bathroom stall, he sighed in relief. "I hate this."
"Hate what?" A voice from behind him said. This made Lucas tense up. Something he didn't do was check to see if someone was in the stall he was about to barge in. He gulped.
"P-please tell me the voice I heard was inside my head."
"Yeaaaaaah no. It's not." Lucas slowly turned his head to see a black-haired boy sitting on the toilet. "Hey there." Lucas screamed and just tried to jump out the stall, but forgot the door was closed so he just crashed into it. He fumbled with the lock before running out to the sink. He shot around and swallowed his fear.
"S-s-sorry!" The boy smiled before standing up, not at all scared to flaunt his stuff. The boy pulled up his pants after whipping. He walked over to the sink.
"Well, it's fine. I can tell you're new here."
"R-really?"
"Yup. We've never had any cute blondes before." Lucas blushed a bit before crossing his arms.
"What a thing to say to a stranger."
"And what a thing to do to a stranger, walking in on them shitting." Lucas opened his mouth before closing it to roll his eyes. The boy finished washing his hands and walked over to the air dryer. "Names Ness, by the way. Yours?"
"Uh, L-Lucas." Ness finished drying his hands and looked at Lucas.
"Wanna ditch this joint?"
"B-but that's bad?"
"Oh, I know." Lucas grew a devilish grin. "You'll quickly find out I am very bad." Ness giggled as he saw Lucas's face change to a devilish innocence.
"Let's do it!"
"You were a very bad influence on him," Claus sternly said. Ness playfully stuck his tongue out.
"Whatever! It's not like you're the best influence either, Mr. 'Oh, fuck me harder Ninty'." Lucas giggled as his twin and his crush argued back and forth. Ninten and Lucas were used to this interaction from them. Some would think they hated each other, but no, they truly did care for each other. Which was why Claus knew that Ness was perfect for his brother, despite calling him "A bad influence".
Ninten soon parked the car in the school's parking lot. Lucas and the others looked out the windshield at the school they would no longer be attending. Lucas sighed. It was somber yet excited. He was happy he was graduating. But he was also sad about it. He couldn't quite pinpoint the feeling. He hated school. Always had. But now that he made it to the end. He didn't know if "Hate" was the right word to use. Sure, did school annoy him? Yes. Did school cause unnecessary stress? Yes. But would he have met the people he met without school? No. He could care less of what school did to his mind. What he did care about...was that because of school, he met the people he now called "The PK Boys." "This is it...the end," Lucas said.
"Yup," Ness said after him. They stared at the school for a bit before Ninten shook his head.
"Come on, before we're too late and they continue without us," Ninten said as he unbuckled himself.
"We still have thirty minutes," Claus pointed out while Ninten got out of the car.
"LET'S GO!" Ninten yelled from the outside of the car. It didn't take much more convincing after that. The other three got out. "Thank you."
"I love it when you get all bossy," Claus creamed over as he grabbed Ninten's arm. Lucas and Ness rolled their eyes in complete unison. They walked ahead of the two lovers.
"I can't wait until I get my boytoy so I can annoy him," Lucas plainly said.
"Ditto," Ness said. The two of them made it into the school. The school was decked out in decorations for prom. Ninten and Claus quickly caught up with them.
"Wow, they decorated early," Ninten said. That was when an earlier explanation of Lucas's behavior came to mind. He looked at Lucas.
"Hey, who're you going to ask to dance?" Lucas tensed up immediately. He gulped before smiling innocently at him.
"D-don't worry about it," he said. Ness raised an eyebrow.
"'Don't worry about it'? It seems like I should be worrying about it after saying something like that." Lucas sighed.
"Just...you'll see ok? Can we leave it at that?" Lucas's voice was a true nervousness. It was as if his core was nervous and not just his base emotions. Ness could sense this.
"Uh, r-right. Um...let's just go meet Palutena." Ness stepped forward and brought out his bat, which he grabbed from...somewhere. He held the bat up as if it was some staff. "Are you ready boys!" Lucas giggled before standing up straight behind him as if he was his commander. Ninten and Claus shared a look. Ninten made the "He's crazy" motion with his finger up to his head. Claus nodded. The two of them, despite seeing this as a bit weird, followed suit.
"YES SIR!" The three followers said. Ness started marching proudly. They soon made it to the room where they were supposed to meet up with the school's principal. She stretched her back after seeing the four boys.
"Ahh, boys, welcome. Glad you could make it," she said, rushing up to the four of them. The four of them stayed silent as Palutena looked through a clipboard with every student's name. She marked off the four of them and smiled. "Alright, do you have your gowns?" The four boys showed off their outfits. "Wonderful. Just hang out and we'll send a message over the intercoms when we need you in your gowns and backstage."
"Thank you, ma'am," Lucas respectfully said before walking off.
"Did TL tell you where to meet?" Ninten asked.
"You think he's responsible enough for that?" Ness asked.
"I like to call it 'optimism', you should try it sometime." Ness crossed his arms and his eyes lowered into an annoyed look.
"You just love being a douche huh?"
"It's my pastime," Ninten proudly said. Ness rolled his eyes.
"How about we just head to the cafeteria and if TL and the others don't meet up with us, it's their asses, not ours?" Claus suggested. Claus, being the most level-headed member of the PK Boys usually had the final say in most things. This was no different. Claus grabbed Ninten, since they loved holding hands as they walked, and started leading the two loveless-birds toward the cafeteria. They waited there...and to none of the boys' surprise, the rest of the PK Boys never came. However, once they received the message to change into their gowns and left the cafeteria, they ran into the rest.
"DUDE! WHERE WERE Y'ALL!" Toon Link yelled.
"You never told us where to meet," Claus sternly said.
"FOR THE LAST DAMN TIME, I DIIIIIIID!"
"No you didn't, Linkie, just admit it," Toon Link's boyfriend, Villager, said. Toon Link huffed and started mumbling under his breath.
"Whatever. Let's just get changed before we all get detention on the final day of school," Claus pushed forward, practically dragging Ninten with him.
"You better listen to him," Ness tried to mock Claus's deep voice. Toon Link decided to not hold a grudge. But he was still plotting his revenge as he walked off toward the locker rooms. Ness sighed. "He can be a bit much sometimes."
"Yeah...but he's fun." Ness slowly nodded his head. "Anyway, let's catch up with them." Lucas started running but was instantly stopped by Ness grabbing his arm. "Ness?"
"I was wondering if we could go to the private locker room."
"Huh? Why? You're not suddenly scared of changing are you?"
"N-no, of course not. It's just...can we just do it?"
"Um, ok then. Let's go." Lucas led the relieved Ness to the private locker room. The locker room was just that, private. It allowed only one person in, but they were always able to sneak in together. It didn't take much longer for the two of them to strip down to nothing. They were required to wear specific under-clothing. The under-clothing wasn't anything special, just clothing that would hide any parts that the gown didn't truly cover up. Lucas, being nude in a room alone with his crush, very clearly was staring at him. Ness knew this. Lucas was known to stare at...male privates.
"If I wasn't your best friend I'd be mad that you're staring at my dick while yours got harder." Lucas stiffened up and gulped.
"S-sorry Ness!"
"Don't worry dude. Just get dressed before Palutena gets mad."
"Uh, r-right." The two of them changed from then on with relative peace. They left the room and made their way backstage, which was behind the auditorium. The rest of the PK Boys were standing there in their cap and gowns. Ness and Lucas walked up to them.
"Can you believe it, look at us, graduates," Paula said, twisting around in her gown.
"Surprised all of us graduated," Toon Link sighed.
"No, you're not. You're surprised you did," Mega Man said. Mega Man had the ability to know what people were really thinking so whatever he said was basically 100% the truth.
"I'M BEING BULLIED!" Palutena was looking out of the curtains to see the crowd building up. She could hear the young elf yell.
"Being told the truth is not bullying. We've been through this." Toon Link crossed his arms and huffed.
"So damn happy to be graduating."
"We love you too Linkie," Villager said before kissing Toon Link's cheek. They hung around longer, doing random things and talking about whatever came to their minds. Soon enough, their innocent little chat was interrupted by Palutena's loud voice.
"Alright, Class of 2021, it's time. We need to head out there. Go to the spots we've practiced in...and good luck." The PK Boys, who were sitting against the wall, stood up. Most of them were ready, but Lucas wasn't. Ness rubbed Lucas's back, which did achieve what it set out to do, to calm him.
"We'll always be here for you. No matter if we're adults or not." Lucas softly smiled before nodding his head.
"R-right." This convinced Luas to finally go out onto the auditorium's stage. He never had stage fright, so seeing all of the families that were here to see their graduate's special day wasn't making him nervous. He stood up straight and tried to fake proudness. It was harder than he would have expected. Palutena started talking about nonsense like "This graduating year was amazing" and "Despite circumstances that the past year gave, this class was able to overcome it". Lucas knew that the past year was tough, but not really for him. No one he knew was really affected and it allowed him time to his passion. It was a double-edged sword of sorts.
Either way, Palutena finished her long speech and soon told Ninten, the class of 2021's representative, to step forward. "Graduation is never something we're prepared for. No matter what people tell you, no matter what they look like, we're never ready. We're going from a time where we NEED to wake up at 6 am to a time where WE make out hours. It'll be one hell of an adjustment, but we always have each other. High school isn't made to teach us stuff, otherwise, they would focus on stuff we need in life, like taxes and shit. High school is meant to show us our interests, the people we enjoy being around, and to grow our tenacity. That's all. Going into High school thinking it's just for education...is wrong. Sure, I guess you can have that thought, but that's never the right mind frame. Although, to say there is a right mind frame, would, in of itself, be a wrong mind frame. Essentially...High School is about connectivity. And we, as a class, did just that. We connected. We will stay connected. And in 10 years, when we come for our reunion, we'll still be connected. Because we are not a graduated class. We...are Smash Bros."
Lucas stared at Ninten, thinking about what he said. Ninten was childish...but as a class rep, he was inspirational. But was also right. He shouldn't be thinking of graduation as the end of what he's used to, but rather the beginning of what's to come. And when Lucas thought of it that way, the fake proudness turned to true proudness. Ninten said some other things that were required for him to say from the school. After he was done, there were some musical performances and some more speeches from students and teachers. Eventually, Palutena got back to the front.
"Thank you, all of you, for coming. I'm sure our graduating class appreciates it. But...it is time. The distribution of their diplomas." Palutena, along with a few teachers, grabbed the diplomas and started calling up names for them to grab their diplomas. Soon, Lucas's name was called. He walked steadily down the stage toward Palutena. She held Lucas's diploma in one hand and had her extended hand out. Lucas took hold of Palutena's hand and they shook as Lucas grabbed the diploma. "Congratulations, Lucas."
"Thank you, Ma'am." Palutena nodded before letting go of the diploma. He shifted his tassel to the right before walking back to his place on the stage. It continued for a while before everyone received their diploma. Palutena smiled at the graduating class and looked out at the crowd.
"And just like that...our graduating class!" Right after saying that, the class threw their caps into the air. They did it. They graduated.
It was time for prom. The twins made it home. After some tearful family time, the twins got up from the dinner table to get ready for their prom. They entered Claus's room and undressed. "So you going to ask Ness to dance?" Claus asked as he turned his underwear into a slingshot and shot it into his dirty clothes bin.
"I-I dunno. What if he says no?"
"Then that'd mean he's an idiot!" Lucas giggled as he grabbed his new pair of briefs.
"I-if you say so."
"I know so." Lucas rolled his eyes as he continued putting the outfit on. "And plus, if you don't ask him, then I'll do it on your behalf." Lucas expected this. He'd much rather ask Ness and get rejected than have his brother ask for him. Lucas looked in the mirror and adjusted his bowtie. He sighed.
"Let's do this shit."
Once more, Ninten picked the two of them up. They drove over to Ness's house, but instead of beeping, Lucas stepped out of the car. He cleared his thoughts and gulped. "You've got this bro, just ask him if he'll go to prom with us," Claus egged on.
"Didn't he already say he was coming?" Ninten asked.
"SHUSH!" Lucas was ignoring them. He wasn't caring about what they said. His mind was too focused on one thing...Ness. He walked over to the door and knocked on it. The door opened and showed Ness, also in a suit that he looked great in. Lucas cleared his throat.
"Hey there, Ness."
"Hiya."
"Ready to go to prom with me-I-I mean us." Ness giggled.
"Yeah, lead the way hotstuff." Lucas blushed before obliging and leading him toward the car. They got in and Lucas avoided eye contact with Ness, knowing the question he was going to have to ask. Ninten drove them to the school for possibly the final time of their life. They left the car, the music from the school was blaring rather loud, especially for a school. Ninten grabbed Claus's hand.
"LET'S GO DANCE CLAUSEY!" Ninten ran off with Claus. They did it on purpose. The purpose of leaving Lucas with Ness.
"Wow, and here I thought we were coming here as a group," Ness said. Lucas gulped, his nerves quickly caught up to him.
"Sh-sh-should we head inside?" Ness acknowledged Lucas's nerves and remembered what Claus said earlier.
"Uh, sure thing." They walked into the school and made it to the large gymnasium where the party was being held. Just as Ninten said, he and Claus were dancing on the dance floor. Claus gave Lucas a thumbs up before returning to the dance. Lucas looked at Ness but just couldn't ask him yet so he walked over to the side, where the food and drinks were. He drank some punch before grabbing some cookies. Ness rushed over. "Hey, something wrong?"
"It's just that I...I don't want to be rejected."
"REJECTED! WHO THE FUCK WOULD REJECT MY BOY!" Lucas giggled.
"You'd be quite surprised who I think would reject me." Lucas grabbed another cookie but it was hit out of his hand by Ness. Lucas watched the cookie fall and hit the ground. "Aww."
"Lucas, I want you to ask the person you want to ask." Lucas blinked as he kept his eyes on the broken cookie. He slowly turned toward Ness and saw that he was being serious.
"Huh?"
"I want you to ask the person you want to ask."
"No no, I heard you the first time. It's just that...THE FUCK! ARE YOU CRAZY!"
"Pretty sure. Tried checking into an insane asylum and they said I was too sane to do that. Too sane or too hot, either one."
"B-but I can't ask them to dance!"
"Of course you can. And I'll whoop their asses if they say no." Lucas blushed a bit before looking away.
"I-I'm also scared I'd lose their friendship." Ness's will to fight seemed to have dropped a bit.
"O-oh...I see. Is it Young Link or something? He's pretty cute."
"H-he is...but no."
"It's you, idiot. You're the one he wants to ask to dance," Claus said from behind Ness.
"CLAUS!" Lucas yelled at the top of his lungs as Ness stood there, blush slowly growing in his cheeks.
"He's had a crush on you for a few years now."
"FUCKING SHUT UP!" Lucas's face was as red as an angered bull. He saw Claus open his mouth again and lunged forward to cover his mouth. "Shut up you idiot!"
"Lucas..." Ness said from behind him. Lucas sighed aggressively before letting Claus go.
"I...hate you."
"Love you too Lulu," Claus happily walked over to Ninten, who clearly had the idea to tell Ness.
"Lucas?" Lucas stiffened up and gulped.
"O-oh would you look at the time, I've got to go...poop." Lucas tried walking away, but his arm was grabbed by Ness. Ness, without any hesitation, twisted Lucas around and brought him into a hug. "N-Ness?"
"I wish you told me earlier. I was hoping to end high school without being a virgin." Lucas broke the hug up and looked into Ness's eyes.
"Wh-what?"
"Did I stutter?"
"No...I just don't understand." Ness groaned.
"Really gonna need me to spell it out for you? Fine. I. Like. You. Too. You. Innocent. Little. Cute. Ass. Fucking. Idiot. Is that better?"
"Y-you like me?"
"Oh my god, Lucas, YES!" Lucas blushed wildly as he rubbed his hands together, not exactly sure what to think of this. "So now, what's the question you wanted to ask?" Ness said with a smirk. Lucas gulped.
"Uhm...w-w-would you like to dance?" Ness softly interlocked his fingers with Lucas's. Ness loved Lucas's soft hands.
"I thought you'd never ask." Ness dragged a still confused Lucas to the dance floor. Ness wrapped his arms around Lucas's neck and prompted Lucas to wrap his hands around his waist. Lucas finally got his mind straight.
"H-how long have you liked me?" Their legs moved on their own as they slow-danced.
"Probably longer than you liked me honestly."
"Wh-why didn't you tell me?"
"Because you're always so naive. It's cute but can get annoying sometimes." Lucas laughed nervously.
"S-sorry."
"Pfft, it's fine. At least we're here." Lucas looked around and noticed that he was there. He was dancing. With his crush, who he just found out liked him back. He looked into Ness's eyes, both boys having a different look in them than they had prior. Their eyes had love blinding them. Lucas smiled softly before resting his head against Ness's chest. He heard Ness's calm heartbeat. He sighed happily.
"This was not how I thought graduation would go."
"Is that a good thing?"
"The best thing." Ness grabbed Lucas's chin and grinned
"This may be a bit soon. But I love you Mr. Graduate."
"Hehe, Nessy..." Lucas brought Ness into a strangely passionate kiss. After the kiss, Ness saw Lucas with newfound confidence. "I love you too. And FYI...you will be the bottom bitch." Ness couldn't help but blush at Lucas's confidence.
"Wh-whatever you say." The two of them hugged. Not as friends, not as students, but as graduates, as boyfriends. They would never leave each other. No matter that they are no longer connected by school. Because now they were connected through their hearts. Ness and Lucas...Once students, now adults. Their school life was over...but their life had yet to begin. That is the point of graduation. And they will be more, they will be smash bros...they will be Nesscas.
This is an excerpt from the most recent draft of Super Smash Bros World Merger. This isn't the final draft. If I know myself, there will be at least 2 more drafts after this one just to truly fine-tune the story since it'll be more than a story. Either way, this will be how the story starts so I hope you enjoy :D
A world that neither exists nor has the privilege of not existing. A world that lost its life. A world without anything to keep it together. Subspace. Home of creatures who were once intelligent living beings, now stuck as husks. Only a select few were able to keep their normal bodies, their normal spirits. Most of which were outsiders. Only one was there from the beginning. From when the world turned into subspace. From before the world did. This person was the leader, the ruler, of Subspace. There wasn't much to rule over, but it was a title he gladly accepted. His name was Tabuu.
Day 0
The ruler of Subspace, Tabuu, was prowling around the area he ruled. Just as any other time he did it, there wasn't much for him to see. The world was dark and space-like, as the name suggested. The ground was a color that didn't seem to fit with the atmosphere of the world, but that made the walkable ground easier to notice. The color was orange. No matter if Tabuu looked up at what he thought was the sky, looked down at the endless void, or either side of him, it all looked like he was looking in the same direction.
As he prowled around, Shadow Bugs formed to create the creatures that made up the "civilians" of this world. They all stood, if they had legs, for their ruler. They didn't have much thought. Not a single intelligent thought was inside their heads. All they knew was to fight, and that Tabuu was their ruler. Nothing else. They don't remember what they used to be. They don't think of what they will be. They don't think period. Nor will they die. They simply turn into Shadow Bugs. They were stuck as mindless weapons for all eternity.
Tabuu hated this. He hated seeing the people who once lived normal lives, be forced into slavery of their own mindless minds. He needed to hide that though. He needed to show the Subspace Army, which was what he named the creatures of Subspace, that he was strong. If he didn't act strong, their mindless minds would turn on him.
He wasn't just prowling anywhere though. He knew where he was going. Oddly enough, there were buildings inside Subspace. They were relatively new. Although, time was tough to determine in Subspace, due to there being no time whatsoever. One of the buildings was a hangar. It was a large hangar that doubled as some type of testing ground. What were they testing? They were testing a device they found. They couldn't move the device, so they built the hangar around it. This device was known as The World Merger. It was a weirdly shaped device that had the power to merge the vast universe. But Tabuu needed to be safe. He wanted to make sure that this device would be safe to use. So he had his friends, the few who had not been affected by Subspace, to study it.
Tabuu entered the hangar. His friends were already hard at work with some smaller projects. The World Merger was right there, standing large and proud, in the middle of the hangar. Tabuu thought it odd that his friends, Master Hand, Crazy Hand, and the Ancient Minister, weren't working on it. "Progress report," Tabuu said in a slightly echoey voice. The Ancient Minister flew over.
The Ancient Minister was an odd character. He was forever in a green robe. The only one to know what was underneath that robe was Tabuu himself. Although, he didn't know the reason why The Ancient Minister felt the need to hide underneath said robe. Despite that, The Ancient Minister was his best and most trustworthy friend. "The work on the Dark Cannons is moving along fast, and the ROB generator is also progressing well."
"Good. What about the Merger?" The Ancient Minister looked back at the device.
"It'd be best to ask Master Hand. He's the one who was able to figure it out." The Ancient Minister, with his floating and robotic-sounding self, flew off to work on another machine. Tabuu walked over to Master Hand, who was working on the previously mentioned Dark Cannon.
"Master Hand?" Master Hand stopped what he was doing and looked at Tabuu. To know what Master Hand was looking at was tough. Master Hand didn't exactly have a face to look at things with. Nor did he have any facial features period. He was just a 56-foot pure white hand. Despite that, Tabuu was able to know what he was looking at. Master Hand's brother, Crazy Hand, was pretty much the same. Master Hand was calmer whereas Crazy Hand was….well crazier. However, Master Hand was more devoted to Tabuu's cause whilst Crazy Hand was a bit hesitant to join in.
"Yes, Tabuu?" Master Hand asked with his deep, very deep, voice.
"The Merger. Report what you learned." Master Hand flew over to the Merger, with Tabuu following. It was rectangular in shape, with the corners being spherical. There were two grey flaps at the top of the device that were pretty easily moveable despite the size being suited for someone of Master Hand's stature. There were also two switches that would seemingly be able to move up and down.
"I found the reason why we haven't yet been able to activate it."
"And the reason is…."
"Power. This device has no power. Energy if you will."
"How does it get energy?"
"A planet's core. Each planet, each star, any spatial object that has a core, all share one thing. Nitrogen. This World Merger, I've dubbed N64, uses the Nitrogen that is in every core to power it and also to tell it which worlds are mergeable. But Subspace….Subspace doesn't have a core. Nor does it have Nitrogen. So the N64 hasn't had anything to power it."
"How're we going to get it to work then?"
"By simulating a core. Or at the very least, causing enough nitrogen to form for it to power up."
"And you have a plan, don't you?" Tabuu shifted his weight to his left foot. He knew Master Hand. And thus he knew he had a plan to activate the N64. Master Hand turned around and looked at his brother.
"Hey, Crazy, bring it over." Crazy Hand did just what his brother said. He brought over a small object. It was big enough for someone of a normal height to hold and use, so it was very uncomfortable for Hands to handle. Crazy Hand handed the circular thing to Master Hand. "This is a Smart Bomb. When it explodes, it'll form what seems like a small star. And thus, there are immense amounts of Nitrogen in it. It should be more than enough to energize the Merger enough for us to activate it.."
"So it's a bomb?"
"Yes, due to the contents that are inside here, if it were to be released it'd cause an explosion. However, it's more of an expansion rather than an all-out explosion."
"And how is it activated?"
"Pressure. Too much pressure put onto this and the casing will break causing the explosion. So, the most efficient way to use this is by throwing it. When it hits something, it should be enough pressure." Tabuu grabbed the Smart Bomb and looked down at it. It had a big B on the front of the red and white ball.
"So I just throw this….and boom?"
"Literally yes." Tabuu looked up at Master Hand.
"I-I need some time." He held Smart Bomb up toward him. "I'll be back."
"Of course. Take your time." Master Hand carefully took the bomb and flew back to where he originally was. Tabuu looked at the Merger, grew a small smile, then walked out. He walked through Subspace, thinking. He was never fully sure if he should be doing this. Part of him wanted to do it, but the other was saying not to. It was a dilemma. A dilemma that he didn't enjoy having.
He made it to his favorite part of Subspace. Some of the structures inside of Subspace were that of his homeworld. One of those structures...was his old house. He lived here with his family. He walked into the house and up to the second floor. There were only two doors that were open. His room, and a second room that belonged to his child. He entered his room and sat on his old bed. He wasn't alone for long. He was followed by his best friend, The Ancient Minister. The Ancient Minister flew into the bedroom where he saw Tabuu sitting on his old bed, a complicated look on his face. "Tabuu?" Tabuu looked up at his friend.
"Hey, Minister." The Ancient Minister floated over to him.
"What's got you thinking?"
"My boy."
"Oh." The Ancient Minister didn't entirely know of Tabuu's son. He didn't know his name, nor what he looked like, but he knew Tabuu was doing this for his son. His son was able to escape The Subspace Scandal. He was….somewhere. Tabuu didn't know where. His son….was only 8 when they were forced apart. Tabuu was a happy man before The Subspace Scandal. But he became a shell….a reflection of his guilt. Despite not knowing where his son was, Tabuu felt confident that merging the worlds would cause him to have the chance to see his son again. The Ancient Minister didn't understand the jump in logic, but he trusted Tabuu. He trusted his judgment. "I'm sure he misses you too."
"If he's even still alive." Tabuu would be crying….if he had tears to cry. His body was just a glorified projection. If it weren't for his heart, his spirit wouldn't have anything to latch on to. And even his heart changed. Instead of being the normal shape of a normal heart...it looked like a ball. A glowing ball of plasma.
"Why wouldn't he be?"
"Subspace has no time, remember? I have no clue if it's been a million years….of 2 days!" The Ancient Minister looked down. Tabuu was right. "He watched his mom dissolve into nothing. Right in front of him. And he watched me become…..this abomination. He, if he's still alive that is, probably thinks I'm dead." The Ancient Minister didn't fully understand Tabuu'd judgment. Then again, he never had a family, so that could be why. But he could tell one thing….he loved his son. More than anything. He was willing to risk everything to bring his son back to him. But now that he had the power to do so, his doubts controlled him. His mind crumbled with the possibility that his son was gone. It was a reality that was the most realistic possibility.
"You giving up?" Tabuu looked up at The Ancient Minister, confused.
"Wh-what?"
"I asked if you're giving up? The Tabuu I know doesn't give up. I remember a time from whence you fought time after time after time to resist Subspace's power. A time when you showed the Subspace Army that you are their leader. Having to fight horde after horde of creatures who were once intelligent. Did you give up then? No. Because you had one thing on your mind. And repeat after me…"
"I will see my son again," Both of them said in unison. Tabuu looked down at his hands. He thought of his son. He wondered how old he looked now. He then shook his head before clenching his hand into a fist.
"I will see him again. No matter what. If I need a time machine….so be it. But for now…." Tabuu looked back at The Ancient Minister, "Tell the Hands I'll be over to activate the merger. I want to bring a few things." The Ancient Minister's eyes shimmered.
"Of course Tabuu." The Ancient Minister flew off. Tabuu stood up and walked into the attached bathroom. He looked at himself in the mirror. It wasn't the person he wished to see in there, but it was the person he now was. He just needed to get used to it.
"I'll see you again. I promise."
Later
Tabuu made it back to the hangar. The Hands and The Ancient Minister were floating outside the hangar. The Smart Bomb was being held by The Ancient Minister's claw. There was a perfect spot between The Ancient Minister and Master Hand for him to stand. The four of them were looking at the hangar. Tabuu took in a deep breath of the cold Subspace air. "It's about time. I'm ready to rid myself of cabin fever." Crazy Hand giggled.
"Nice one, sir!" Crazy hand said, being unable to control the inflection in his voice. Tabuu smiled before reaching his hand out. The Ancient Minister carefully dropped the bomb into Tabuu's hand.
"So just throw it?"
"Yes," Master Hand said. Tabuu looked down at the bomb and smirked. He then tossed it forward then formed a barrier in front of the four of them to prevent any debris from harming them. They watched as the bomb flew through the air and landed just in front of the entryway of the hangar. The bomb didn't hesitate. Rather, it instantly exploded. The once small bomb slowly expanded into a small star. This small star seemed to even have a gravitational pull, causing the four of them, despite having the barrier, to slide toward it. Tabuu needed to avert his eyes. The bomb, much like a star, was bright. Bright enough to cause blinding. The noise was growing louder and louder as the small star expanded. But….it didn't last much longer. It subsided. Tabuu looked where the bomb was and was relieved to see the hangar in one piece. But something happened to the Merger.
There was a red light. The four of them rushed over to the merger. They all saw this new red light right under the N64 sticker that Master Hand gave it. "It worked!"
"You doubted me?" Tabuu looked up at him and smiled.
"Never have." He looked back at the aptly named N64. It was too big for him to use at his normal height. What was the solution? Easy, to just grow. He grew to be about the size of Master Hand. The two switches, one was labeled Reset and the other labeled Power. The power was off and Tabuu could tell he just needed to flip it on. He sighed. "You all ready?"
"Ready when you are," The Ancient Minister said.
"Always have been," Master Hand answered.
"I guess so!" Crazy Hand said in a whisper-yell. Tabuu grabbed the middle section of the switch. He took in his final breath of Subspace's cold air.
"Let it begin." Tabuu flipped the switch on, causing the red light to turn green. Tabuu turned back to his normal height. There was a cryptic silence before loud growling and what sounded like waves came from the machine. A light shone from underneath the grey flaps. The light got brighter and brighter and brighter. The light started expanding, prompting Tabuu to cover his eyes. Soon enough, the four of them, and all of the Subspace, was engulfed in light. The four of them fell into a deep sleep. The light expanded past Subspace, into other worlds, covering everyone, and everything, in the cast unlimited universe in light. The N64 created the new world. The world of all worlds. The worlds have merged….into one.
