The house stunk of something foul. A true travesty had happened within that nice-looking house. It was a house on a nice road, no major crimes, no major anything until, well, until the incident. An incident that caused eyes to be onto this once peaceful part of Ultimatum. The house turned murderous.
Let's start at the beginning. One day, one of the neighbors of this house started to smell something weird. His name was Marth. He was a calm and simple man, living a life with his wife, and was the type to just go through life as peacefully and conflict-free as possible. However, even after cleaning his house relentlessly, the foul smell persisted. He followed the smell to his neighbor's house, and upon looking into the window, saw him mangled on the ground, dead. This dead man's name was Red. Another man who just wanted relaxation, now bleeding on his own floor.
The cops, detectives, and other people were in the house, taking photos and gathering as much evidence as they could. They were waiting for their main detective to get to them. That detective, luckily, had just pulled into the driveway. He entered the house. "Yeesh, stinks in here." An officer ran over to the detective.
"Detective, glad to see you here," he said. The Detective chuckled, patting his shoulder.
"Come now, Allister. We've been friends since High School, drop the detective."
"Y-yes sir, I-I mean, Lucas." Lucas smiled at his shy friend. He quickly adjusted his tie before clearing his throat.
"Now then, show me the body." Allister nodded his head and walked off, having Lucas follow him. The closer he got to the body, the more that foul stench invaded his nose. Soon enough, he was handed a mask and while putting it on didn't stop the smell, it still helped a bit. Red was lying on the ground, still a mangled mess. Blood was all around that room. "God, poor guy."
"Y-yes. Projected death seems to be yesterday at noon."
"Noon? That explains the smell." Lucas walked over to the body and kneeled next to it, getting a closer look at him. "Anything around the house seem of interest?"
"Not really. Clear signs of struggle but nothing major." Lucas looked around and saw some broken glass, and spilled drinks, among other broken things. He looked back at the body, how it was mangled, torn, and ripped.
"This killer. He's messy."
"That'll be his downfall, r-right?" Lucas stood up, shaking his head.
"There's a difference between accidentally messy and purposely messy. This killer…he's smart." Lucas walked off, in search of any possible evidence that could be around the house. He looked in every possible crevice in most of the house until he made it to the upstairs bathroom. It was relatively clean compared to most of the house. He looked and looked but the only out-of-place thing he saw was a deck of cards. "Strange placement, Red" He grabbed the cards and walked down to Allister. "What do we know about Red?"
"Red, he's a pretty popular guy. He is kind, honest, and overall a stand-up citizen." Lucas looked back at the deck of cards and hummed.
"Is he a card player?" Allister shrugged. Lucas still felt a bit suspicious about the random deck of cards. He just placed them into his pocket and walked over to Red's body once more. "There has to be something here. Come on, Red, give me something." Lucas looked over every inch of his body, every place he could see. Nothing. Just blood, exposed bone, bruising, but no evidence. "Damn it." Lucas stood up, shaking his head.
"He needs to head to get ready for an autopsy," Allister spoke up, making Lucas step aside for the others to grab Red. "I'll be sure to keep you updated."
"Good." Lucas took one more look at Red before he was covered by a sheet. He turned around and left the house, finally free of the rancid smell.
He got back to his house, taking off his shoes and plopping down onto his couch with a loud groan. That was when Ness popped out of the room, with a rag and wet mug in his hands. "Hey, how was work?" Lucas sat up and smiled as he saw Ness's face. He always felt happy when he saw his face, the look in his eyes, it was all wonderful.
"Red was killed." Lucas simply said before walking off into the kitchen.
"Fuck. Is he ok?" Lucas stopped dead in his tracks before looking back at Ness. He held a raised eyebrow as he waited for the realization to knock into Ness. "Oh."
"Yeah." Lucas chuckled softly before sitting at the dining table and placing the deck of cards onto it. "Only thing suspicious about the scene was this."
"So you took it?" Ness asked, walking over, grabbing the deck.
"You know how I work."
"Touche."
"The only problem is, Red doesn't seem the type to play card games." Ness opened the deck and brought out the actual cards. He began scanning through it.
"They seem normal to me." Lucas held up his hand and Ness put the cards into it. Lucas wanted his own close look at the deck. He was looking for anything, big or small, that could be seen as a clue of some kind. Soon enough, he found it. Or rather, he didn't find it.
"Strange."
"What is it?"
"The queen of Diamond is missing."
"That's odd, not even the king?" Ness asked, looking over his shoulder. He was oddly knowledgeable and closer to the case than he legally should've been. Lucas sat back in his seat as he began spreading the cards across the table.
"Yup, definitely the Queen of Hearts."
"You think this is their calling card?"
"Their calling card is the lack of a card?"
"Yeah, serial killers are weird, man, you never know."
"Fair enough." Lucas stood up and took off his tie. "Well, we need to go check then. I believe the most recent case is still taped up if you wanna join me?" Lucas's method of crime solving was very unorthodox, and the only reason Ness wasn't also a detective was because he was caught and promptly fired for tampering and harboring evidence. He was lucky enough to not be thrown in prison instantly. They always felt like the police force of Ultimatum was at least partially dirty. Cops taking bribes, bypassing obvious evidence, and taking orders from shady mobs. Everything of the sort. They had no evidence of this, but that's why they always did their own thing. There were only a few officers they trusted were clean, Allister being one of them.
They got themselves dressed up in their outfits, simple dark tuxedos with black latex gloves. Lucas looked at himself through the mirror with a small wink. "Lookin' good, Luke."
"Damn right you are~," Ness said before slapping his bottom. "Now let's get going, shall we?"
They arrived at the house of the most recent killing, outside of Red. It wasn't confirmed to be the same killer, but it was just a hunch. This killing was of a guy named Steven Stone. Poor guy was the owner of a pretty jewelry store in Ultimall. It was actually where Ness bought Lucas's wedding ring from. The house was pretty lavish, as he made a lot of money from his jewelry. He was minding his own business before being killed, no real drama, no one who hated him. He was a calm and honest businessman.
Ness and Lucas entered the house through an open window that needed to be open due to it being considered evidence. "Alright, so where'd the deck be?"
"I found Red's in the bathroom, so start there." Ness nodded, walking off toward where he thought the bathroom was. Lucas decided to look around the other rooms, in case the killer had a different place in mind. As he was looking, he began wondering if there was some deeper link between Red and Steven that he wasn't seeing. He felt like there was, like some obvious connection between the two. He just wasn't catching on.
He sat on one of the couches, kicking his feet up and closing his eyes, trying to find some link. "Hey, Luke!" Ness yelled in a whisper down for Lucas, Lucas was kicked instantly out of his thoughts. Ness ran down and into the living room, holding up the deck of cards.
"Same place?"
"Same place."
"It's not normal for two different people to leave their cards like that." Lucas grabbed the deck and opened it without hesitation. He began spreading them around the coffee table to see if one was missing, and sure enough, one was. The King of Clubs.
"Could it be a coincidence?"
"A very big one. But I doubt it." He gathered up the cards and pocketed them. "Let's go, don't wanna be caught here." A loud thud sounded throughout the house, making the two of them jump. They stood up and scanned the room but didn't see anyone. The two of them looked at each other before quickly retreating into the kitchen of the house, where they were able to hide behind a counter. They sat there as they quickly grabbed a set of knives when another, much louder, thud was heard.
"What the hell?" Ness whispered, only to have his mouth covered by Lucas's hand. He turned around and peeked over the corner of the counter. He didn't see anyone walking, but the thumping could still be heard. Soon enough, a glass plate was knocked off the counter, shattering upon hitting the ground. He sat back down quickly and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. He looked at Ness, seeing his scared eyes.
"I-it's ok. We just need to leave," Lucas whispered, patting his back. Ness was always easily frightened. Especially in their line of work, he had valid reasonings for it. At any moment they could be found out and killed. "Come on." Lucas wrapped one of Ness's arms around his neck so they could leave quickly. They were heading for the back door, not caring about subtly anymore, just wanting to get out. They were able to leave the kitchen, but some invisible force pushed them to the ground. They had dropped their knives as a result.
Ness was quick to recover, but he didn't see anything. It was just nothing but the cold air. Lucas ran over to Ness's side. "It's invisible?"
"I-I don't know what it is." What felt like a hand gripped Lucas's neck, holding him up.
"████ ██" Lucas's eyes just stared at the space in front of him, unable to get those words out of his mind. He was quickly dropped, leaving him on his knees trembling. The voice, the tempo, the pain in the voice. Everything. It was too much. Before long, he passed out.
He shot back awake, falling out of his bed, and slamming face first into the ground. Ness reacted fast, being in the kitchen, and rushed over, opening the door. "Lucas…" Ness walked over and helped Lucas sit back on the bed. "You alright?" Lucas nodded his head before rubbing where he landed. "What happened back there?"
"I…I don't know." He tried thinking back, but the moment seemed to have been erased from his memory. He knew it existed, he knew that it happened, but he couldn't remember it happening.
"It's alright, we obtained what we wanted to get." Ness pointed to the side to show the two decks of cards on the desk. "But let's go, I made you breakfast." Ness interlocked his fingers with Lucas's, making him feel calmer and safer. His hand made his head clear itself from its own confusion. Ness walked him into the kitchen, handing him his plate of Waffles. Lucas happily grabbed a fork and started devouring it, without any need for syrup. Ness just giggled.
"You're adorable." Lucas just blushed softly as he continued. Ness walked off, leaving Lucas to himself. Eventually, he calmed a bit down, slowing to enjoy his food. Soon enough, something moves in the corner of his eyes. He glanced over but only ever saw himself in a mirror. He tilted his head.
"When did we get that?" He just shrugged, not really caring before finishing his food.
"Hey, Luke, I think I found something." Lucas rushed over to see him on the computer. "Look." He scooted aside to show the screen. On it was something called "The Alice Killings."
"The hell? Never heard of this."
"Neither have I. But if I'm reading into things properly, we could be seeing a copycat."
"If that's the case…could you look more into The Alice Killings." Ness nodded his head before turning back toward the screen.
"I'm going to the station to meet with Allister, and see if the autopsy found anything." He leaned in and pecked Ness on his cheek. "Love you."
"Love you too."
He made his way over to the police station, which was busy as it always was. Ultimatum is very full of crime, so the police never really had time to relax and chill. He looked around the station until he saw a small, young-looking, cop. Good ole Allister. His skin was so pale and white, impossibly white. As if he'd seen a ghost. Lucas walked over to him.
"Hey, Allister." This spooked the young cop, making him jump before seeing Lucas and recovering quickly.
"S-sorry, I spook easily."
"Oh I know you do," Lucas chuckled. Allister cleared his throat and stood up as tall and strong as he could, which wasn't much in either department.
"Any update on the Autopsy?"
"We were trying to contact you n-not get any notification?" Lucas just shook his head, it was likely when he was knocked out. "Come on, then." Allister walked off to the back of the station, leading Lucas through the entire place, but stopping at the door that led into the room. "Are you sensitive to blood?"
"You can't really be blood sensitive when you're in this line of work."
"Touche." Allister opened the door and allowed Lucas to step in. On the table was Red's body with his chest open.
"Find anything interesting?"
"One thing." Allister walked over and picked up a zip lock bag that currently had a playing card inside of it. It was the Queen of Hearts. Lucas walked over and picked the bag up. It was indeed the Queen of Hearts. It was bloody, and it even looked like the corner of it was chipped a bit. "You still have those playing cards?"
Lucas took hold of the bag and analyzed the card, trying to see if there was something else with it he could see. It didn't seem like it on the surface, however. "This card was missing out of the deck, surprise surprise."
"Odd. You have any idea what it could be?"
"A copycat. Ever heard of the Alice Killings?" Allister leaned back a bit as he thought and thought before snapping his fingers.
"Y-yeah. You really think it might be a copycat?"
"I don't know, just yet, but it could be worth looking into," Lucas shrugged. Allister looked down softly.
"The others won't really care enough to look into this, but I promise you, Lucas, I will." Allister stood proudly in front of Lucas. Lucas partially felt proud of himself at how he was able to change and turn Allister from a shy, stuttering mess, to a proud officer of the law, a true blue cop. Lucas walked over and patted his shoulder.
"I know you will, Allister. I put my faith in you. Good luck, and you know where to find me." Allister bowed his head before Lucas left the room, holding the baggie in his hand. He gripped it tightly, rushing home.
Along the way, however, he started hearing loud thunder. The thunder shook Lucas to the core, sending him to the ground. But when he looked around, he only saw some guy from across the street looking at him weirdly. He stood up and cleared his throat, just deciding to continue forth and ignoring the other guy. He tried to think up why he heard sudden thunder, but couldn't find an answer. Soon enough, he stopped in front of an alley and looked into it. He felt a presence there, someone watching him. And upon looking into the alley he only saw, well, nothing. Soon enough, though, a shadowy figure stood there.
"███ ██████ ██████ █ ████ ███ ███ █████"
Lucas stumbled back. He was looking at something, or rather, someone that was different. Someone supernatural. However, he wasn't shocked and bamboozled by the idea of someone supernatural, rather, he was surprised by what it was. He didn't feel like he was lying like it was some big faux. Something about this figure had an awe of honesty. As quickly as the figure appeared, it disappeared. Lucas shook his head before slapping it.
"I'm going insane, I'm literally going insane, what the fuck." He stood back up and cleared his throat. He continued his run, but his mind couldn't seem to shake off the thoughts of the figure. Before he even realized it, he was home. "Strange."
He entered the house to see Ness doing some cleaning. "Hey, babe, got anything?" He walked into their bedroom, which doubled as their investigation room. He plopped down the baggie, and when Ness came in, he just stared at it. "Gross….poor card." Lucas looked at the card. There was nothing major on the card itself save for some blood. It was an average card outside of it being just inside another person.
"It does feel like it's a copycat."
"Speaking of that, there's this weird link between the two victims."
"What is it?" Ness turned on the computer and showed off Red's file. It was a strange file. It wasn't normal. It wasn't any police file, it wasn't even a file that was tied to any community, business, or association known to Lucas, and he knew damn near all in Ultimatum.
"What the hell?" The title of this site was called "The Smash Compendium". "Where did you find this?"
"Honestly, I don't know. I took a small break, took a shower, then came back and it was just on my screen."
-Red is a very intelligent kid. His tactful mind allows him to command loads of these creatures called Pokemon. No matter the kind, he seems capable of commanding all of them perfectly fine. He rarely speaks outside of giving orders, but when he speaks he commands and demands people listen to him. I commend him. I truly do. However, he has a weakness…-
"Weird. What's a Pokemon?" Ness shrugged. He showed Lucas that there was a search bar up at the top of this website, and he typed in the name of Steven Stone, and another thing popped up. It simply talked about his past in relation to the same creature named "Pokemon". However, none of these explanations of their past were true, not to them at least.
"Not only do both of them have something on this Smash Compendium thing, but they also have a link in the form of whatever this Pokemon thing is." Lucas walked over and sat on the bed. It sounded oddly familiar. He crossed his arms, closing his eyes. "Whatcha doing?"
"Trying to think. I feel like I've heard of a Pokemon before."
"What, from a past life or something?" Ness giggled before the tea kettle loudly shrieked. "Ooh, be right back." He ran out to get the tea. Lucas kept repeating Pokemon in his mind. He opened his eyes to look at the computer, and when he walked over, putting Pokemon into the search bar of the website a lot of things popped up, with Red and Steven Stone being two of them. Some weird-looking creatures followed them, but he quickly found something else, Allister.
"Allister?" He clicked on him and Allister looked very different. Not in the sense of his overall body, but in his clothing. Sleeves longer than his arms, an overall purple aesthetic, and a strange mask over his face. His information was listed, talking about being a gym leader, leading ghost Pokemon, being shy, everything of the sort. He sat back in his seat and hummed softly, "Pokemon?" He sat there thinking for some time before Ness came by with a cup of tea for both of them.
"Anything?"
"Allister is connected to Red and Steven in some way." Ness read what was on the screen. They were both sitting next to each other, browsing the website some more, looking around at the different people underneath this "Pokemon" tag. The website was just overall very weird. "It's so odd…" Ness didn't respond he felt weightless next to him. Lucas looked over and saw nothing but the shadowy figure staring at him, scaring him enough to jump from the chair and stumble back.
This figure, no matter how long Lucas looked at him, invoked fear. Lucas began whimpering as he crawled backward, bumping into the wall. The figure stood up from the chair and walked over. "L-Leave me alone…" The figure titled its head, extending its arm forward. Lucas shook his head wildly before crashing his head forward into the figure and running away. He found himself in the bathroom, shutting the door and barricading it with what items he could find. He stared at the door, listening to the figure knock on it. He stumbled back, tripping over the bathtub, and falling into it.
Soon enough, the door broke open, Lucas screaming as he covered his eyes. His whimpers were rapid, and he barely found any time to actually breathe. He couldn't get the thought of the figure out of his mind. The figure that invoked nothing but the utmost fear and despair. "Lucas?" Ness's voice broke through the fear, making him lower his hands. He looked forward, seeing Ness in the doorway. "What…was that?" Lucas was still shaking a bit as he heaved himself out of the bathtub.
"I…I-I'm just sleepy."
"Bullshit." Ness grabbed Lucas's hands softly, walking him out of the bathroom and into their bedroom. He made sure Lucas was walking safely, noticing his shaking, quick and panicked breaths, and his sweaty skin. He sat Lucas down on their bed, grabbing a chair and sitting in front of him. "What is wrong?"
"I'm telling you, I-I'm just sleepy." Ness shook his head. He took Lucas's hand once more, calmly patting and rubbing it. He needed Lucas to know that he was safe with him, that he had nothing to fear with him.
"Look at me." Lucas stared into Ness's violet eyes. They seemed to absorb him. Nothing like the bloodshot eyes of the shadowy figure. "Are you hurt? Scared? What is it?" Lucas lowered his eyes. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but nothing came out. It was just a breath. Lucas soon felt a hand on his cheek. Looking up, he saw Ness smiling at him. His white teeth. Soft dimples. And his tan skin was mesmerizing to him. He was once his best friend, and their friendship evolved. He trusted him more than anyone ever. Feeling his hand on his cheek had a power that he never thought possible. He allowed some tears to form.
"I-I'm scared."
"Of what? What is it?"
"I-I see this…figure. He's all shadows a-and…" He looked into Ness's eyes, making sure they were still the violet ones he fell in love with. "His eyes were red."
"Did this figure do anything to you?" Lucas lowered his head, trying to wrap his mind around what this figure was. Although every time he thought of it, his heart jolted out of fright.
"N-nothing, I guess. I-it's just, whenever I see him…I can feel nothing but fear."
"Lucas." Lucas looked back at Ness's face. He had a sweet smile on his face. His thumb rubbed against Lucas's cheek. "I'm glad you told me." He leaned his face closer, interlocking their lips. The feeling of Ness kissing him was like none other. Every single time they kissed, it felt like the weight of anything and everything was being lifted off of him. The kiss broke up, their noses touching, and their eyes were damn near touching. "Better?"
"Better."
"You're adorable, Luke." He patted the top of Lucas's head as he chuckled. "Feeling better after a kiss." Lucas just blushed, looking away from him.
"Shush."
"You should get some rest, ok? You need it." Lucas nodded his head.
"Yeah, probably."
"Not probably. Now go on, get some sleep." He stood up, turning off the computer, before making his way to the door.
"I love you, Ness." Ness looked back.
"I love you too."
The next morning, Lucas woke up. He looked over and saw Ness in the bed with him, sleeping ever so soundly. He quickly kissed his forehead before leaving the bed. He was ready to begin his day, hopefully, better than the days prior. He made his way to the bathroom to take his warm bath. The bathroom was cold, especially since he was naked, but soon enough that'll be remedied. He readied the bath before stepping in. The warm bath felt amazing against his skin. He sunk his body into the water, allowing himself to relax and take any tense feeling out of him.
His eyes shut The water was calm around his whole body. "Hehe, look at you," Ness's voice invaded his mind.
"Leave me be, I'm relaxing."
"How can I, you're just too adorable to be left alone."
"Just shush already." Lucas opened his eyes and saw him sitting at the rim of the bath.
"Mind if I pop in with ya?" Lucas looked at his invisible totally real watch with a hum.
"Well, I guess today is my day off so, meh, you may join."
"Oh, don't think you're so high and mighty, pervert." Lucas crossed his arms, looking away from him.
"I am no pervert."
"Did you forget that the water is clear?" At that sentence, his face was invaded with an intense blush.
"J-just get in before I change my mind." Ness laughed, making sure he had a towel prepared before getting into the tub. It was a pretty big tub that easily fit both of them into it. However, despite being able to have space between them, they opted to be as close as possible.
"God, baths feel nice."
"Indeed." Lucas rested his head back, allowing his eyes to close once more. Ness just looked at him lovingly. He quickly was able to shift Lucas around to bring him into a hug. "What're you doing?"
"Hugging you."
"You're invading my space, that's what you're doing."
"Yeah right, will you say the same thing when I bring out the collar?"
"That's a different story." Ness looked at Lucas's face, seeing that turned-on look.
"Uh-huh, right, whatever you say, Luke." Lucas broke away from the hug and turned his back to Ness. Although, this just brought a laugh out of him. "You dirty dog~."
"SHUSH!" His phone began ringing.
"Saved by the bell." Lucas sat up, racing his phone. It was a call from the police station.
"Dammit, even today?" He answered it, bringing the phone to his ear.
"Hello, Lucas?" The Commissioner's voice said through the phone.
"Listen, Commissioner, respectfully, today is my day off and I really need it-"
"Allister is dead."
"What!" Lucas said as he sat up quickly and powerfully, splashing water everywhere.
Lucas and Ness rushed out of their car and entered Allister's house. It was a pretty decently sized one. He instantly saw the Commissioner, which tried to say Ness couldn't stay, but the cold stare he received from Lucas made him say otherwise. He moved out of the way and allowed the two of them to go forth to see Allister. Walking up to his bedroom, there he was, on the ground, dead. This time around, a bloody playing card was on his face. Lucas just stared at him. Unable to make any form of noise. He felt Ness's hand on his back, but this time, it was able to calm him down.
"Want to go back home?"
"No." Lucas walked forward, kneeling down to see the Jack of Spades on his chest. He picked it up, staring at it, wanting to crush whoever did this. He tossed the card away and looked into Allister's dead, scared eyes. His own eyes welled up. "Allister…I-I'm sorry. He hugged him, not caring if he got blood on him. "I-I should've protected you. I-I shouldn't have gotten you involved in anything."
"Lucas?" the Commissioner stated from behind him.
"Do you mind, Commissioner? He just lost his friend," Ness tried standing up for him.
"I understand that, but there's something we just found." Lucas planted Allister back down, standing up and wiping his tears away. Before he turned around, he cleared his throat.
"What is it?" The Commissioner had a large envelope in his hands.
"It's directed to both of you." He grabbed the envelope to see if he was telling the truth, and he was. Opening it up he found another playing card.
"This sicko…" Ness said from beside him. The final card, the Ace of Hearts. He turned the card around to see if there was anything there, and for the first time, there was.
-Welcome to my Wonderland-
His heart sunk, he looked up only to see, in place of the Commissioner, that shadowy figure.
"█ ██ █████" it said. Lucas stared at this figure, allowing his tears to form and fall to the ground. He knew it was his time. He closed his eyes, holding onto Ness's hand tightly.
The Lucas Killer stepped into the hospital room. He saw Ness sleeping on the chair near the hospital bed, and inside the bed, itself was none other than Lucas, the very guy he was looking for. Stuck in a coma. The Lucas Killer shut the door and walked closer to Lucas, hearing his heart monitor beeping, slowly. He was now on life support, a simple plug kept him from being dead. He placed a hand on the body. It was already a bit cold. "You'll never wake from the dream, Lucas." He leaned down and grabbed hold of the plug.
"No." The Lucas Killer turned around to see Ness staring at him. His sleepy body somehow stood tall and strong. "Please."
"I need to." He looked away.
"I know who you are. The Lucas Killer."
"How?
"Lucas saw a figure…he showed him reality, and what it had in store for him." The Lucas Killer just stayed silent, knowing who the figure was. His grip on the plug tightened. "Please."
"Just go. I don't want him hurting you."
"He's waking up soon. But he's also dying soon. He's waking up only to spend one more day with me…before he leaves. I know you feel the need to go on this mission, but please….let me spend one more day with him." He turned around, looking into Ness's eyes. His teary eyes. He was truly in love. He was thankful that his hood hid his face because his eyes began to be teary. He looked back at the plug, letting out a sigh. "I beg of you, Lucas." The name, his name, made his grip weaken. He didn't know what to do. He wanted and felt the need to kill Lucas, however, Ness was still his one weakness. Seeing him cry, and beg, especially over an already dying Lucas was getting to him. He let go of the plug, standing up. He looked down at Lucas. "Thank you, Lucas." He looked away, staring at Ness.
"Answer me this. If this is always the outcome of your love. Would you still go through it? All the pain?" Ness walked over and grabbed the sleeping Lucas's hand.
"Any day, minute, or second. I don't care. As long as it's with him." The Lucas Killer looked at Lucas, quickly seeing him open his eyes. His deep blue eyes were not tainted, not ruined. Lucas looked at him. The Lucas Killer was jealous of him, envious that he still had his Ness, but he was also envious of him not having been tainted.
"Enjoy your last day alive, Lucas. My kindness for you has reached its peak."
"Th….thank…you." The Lucas Killer simply turned around and walked away.
He watched, for the rest of Lucas's life, as short as it was. Lucas was barely alive, he was barely hanging on. Ness took him all around the city. The school, the park, the mall, their home, everything. He made sure Lucas's last day alive was one they both would remember. The Lucas Killer made sure Lucas would die, and that night, they were both lying down, in bed, watching tv. And Lucas closed his eyes, resting his head on Ness's chest. At that moment, he was gone. Ness rubbed his head, crying softly. "So long, my love. We'll meet on the other side…" The Lucas Killer turned around and sighed.
He brought out his knife, stained in blood. He scraped his finger against the blade, cutting a little into it. "Soon, but not soon enough." He put the knife away. "Time to end another story." He turned to look at…you…before teleporting away.
