Planet Reach
Noble Team pushing on ahead, across the creek to engaged a team of five Ultra Elites, backed up by Unggoy. Taking the front like usual, Jorge unloaded rounds from his chain gun immediately gunning the middle elite down as the others spread to return fire. With the tech offered by UMC, he was able to make some personal adjustments to his armor. Some that gave him extra armor and advanced shielding for him to take in the rain of plasma fire.
With the elites spreading out and focusing on Jorge, they didn't see the other Spartans pounce from the directions they were heading to. From the right Natalie speared an elite in the chest with Thom high kneeing another to the chin. A few rounds from Thom's rifle and a knife from Natalie ended the two. On the left Rosenda unloaded hell with her LMG shredding an elite into blood and pieces as the other jumped to avoid, right into Emile's up close shotgun blast.
The grunts in the back seeing what was happening already started panicking making them easy targets for Carter and Kat to gun down.
"Commander, I'm seeing more hostile activity to the northeast."- Jun.
"Thom. You're with Kat. The rest will run interference on the ground with me. We'll meet you at the outpost" ordered Carter as a falcon carrying Jun landed nearby.
"Noble Three, requesting air-lift, over" requested Catherine leading the Spartans to the bird.
As the three took off into the falcon departing for Visegrád Relay, Natalie, Carter, Rosenda, and Jorge headed to a pair of flatbed trucks. Carter taking the passenger seat and Jorge in back, using his gun as a support, and Natalie drove in one vehicle. Emile drove the other with Rosenda gunning from the passenger seat.
"Get to work, Noble" called out Carter as the pair of vehicles gunned it down the road eliminating all Covenant forces they come across.
"Noble Leader, I'm picking up a distress signal near your location" COM in Jun. "Patching it in to you."
"Mayday! Three Charlie Six, does anyone read? We were attacked by Covenant forces. The Covenant is on Reach. I repeat: the Covenant is on Reach."
"The troopers?" - Jorge
"Let's move, Natalie. We've gotta find the source of that distress call."
"No disrespect, but don't we have more important things to do than round up strays?" – Jun
"We don't leave people behind. You see those troopers, you let me know."
"Understood. I am seeing possible friendly forces under attack south of your position. Could be the ones you called it in. Sending you more transmissions to confirm"
"We're under attack, repeat, mayday, mayday, Three Charlie Six, we're under attack by the Covenant, I've got wounded, cannot hold this position."
He easily recognized the voices from before when it played. "That's them! We need to find those troopers now."
Hearing this Natalie pushed the vehicle's speed to the maximum, towards the combat. "Moving to intercept" she called out. Upon reaching the location she moved the vehicle into a sliding stop and fired from behind them vehicle as the other passengers moved to do the same. With the first vehicle's passengers providing the cover fire the second vehicle pulled to the side to allow its occupants to enter the structure from the side.
Emile and Rosenda now in a secured position with the troopers, provided cover fire for the other Spartan's to move into better position. Allowing for the other Spartan's to lead the fight, Carter stood behind and assessed the troops and radio in to Jun.
"Noble Three, we've located the trooper squad. Request immediate evac. My coordinates."
"Solid copy, Commander. Recalling Falcon Charlie Two. Hold that evac position. ETA 5 mikes"
"Understood, we will hold this position."
"Noble Leader, be advised: I have visual on inbound Covenant dropships. Can't bring her in until its cleared."
"Evac transport, keep your distance! Noble team, hold this position. Clear an LZ." He ordered as he could see the transports coming in as a trooper walked up to him.
"Spartans? Corporal Travis, Three Charlie, sir. It's the Covenant..."
"We know, Corporal. Let's get you out of here. Stay in the rear guard for flanking enemies". Finishing up his talks, he rejoined Noble Team to see Natalie on top of a standing elite stabbing his neck. Emile was shot gunning enemy after enemy leaving a stack of bodies. One jackal tried to sneak up from behind but with a quick throw of his Kabuki it fell on its back dead. Jorge and Rosenda were on the other side laying a down a field of nonstop gunfire killing any enemy that didn't hide before cover. It made them easy shots for Carter's DMR.
Upon the last elite dropping dead Carter radioed in "Transport, LZ is clear. Move in for evac."
"Affirmative. Transport inbound." - Jun-A266
With the two Falcons landing, Travis and his team load into one to be evacuated, and Noble Team depart for the relay on the other Falcon. Carter, Jorge, Natalie, Emile, and Rosenda entered the passenger seats, while Jun remained on the side seat where he had been providing sniper overwatch earlier.
Noble Team flying towards the relay station found the other half engaging the Covenant in the courtyard. Kat was inside working on the blast doors while Thom protected her from the front. Jumping off from at the back of the courtyard they cleared out the area to link up with the rest of the group.
"How we doing, Kat?" asked Carter walking up to her.
"Taking a little longer than I hoped, Commander. I've cut about halfway through the door."
"Contact!" yelled Emile from outside.
"Hold them off until Kat can hack the controls." He ordered positioning at the front door next to Jun to fire at the approaching enemies from a dropship. Running to cover the right sector was Thom and Rosenda. On the left Natalie and Emile held off that area. Moving down to the center to take the focus was Jorge once again.
With Noble Team's combined firepower, they engaged numerous Covenant infantry, but more and more troops were dropped in via Spirit dropships. The enemy started using multiple dropships at once in an attempt to overwhelm them. Piles of corpses started to be stacked up as Noble Team had to rotate in order to resupply.
"Kat?" Carter called out seeing two more spirits coming in when straight beam of fire smashed through both at once. Looking towards the location where it came from, he saw a pelican hovering with its back opened. From inside he saw a tall being kneeling and holding a rifle of some kind.
With Naruto
From aboard the pelican, he pulled the cocking handle back to eject a expended round that had seals on it. From behind him Shizune was typing away on her computer, recording the results of the fire.
"It looks like the chakra sniper rifle is a success but the kickback from firing the weapon, makes it so only the physically strong Elementals can fire the weapon" reported Shizune as Naruto placed another round with seals engraved into it.
"Trying the Raiton round" he called out pushing the bolt forward and aiming at another spirit. Locking on, he fired the round making sparks shoot out as a beam of blue electricity shredded the spirit with sparks coming off it, causing it to EMP another spirit.
Their own pelican's power slightly shuttered before going back to normal from firing. "The Raiton round causes an EMP effect on all things that's near its flight and impact path. It also causes the effect from its firing location. So, no firing it on a vehicle" stated Shizune as Naruto stood and holster the weapon on his back.
"Time to go! Pilot, we are jumping off here. Report back to base" he called out wrapping an arm around Shizune's waist. "Yes Sir!" answered the pilot.
"Wait!" she called out as Naruto jumped off with her into the air. Not being far from the ground Naruto easily absorbed the impact from landing before setting a shaking Shizune down next to him. "Inside" guided Naruto with his hand as he whipped out his battle rifle to fire upon incoming Covenant forces.
A hunter upon seeing Shizune's retreating back, charged up it beam cannon and fired it thinking it would be a easy kill. As the green blast of plasma came hurling towards her, Naruto with quick reaction held up his left arm in a blocking fashion, causing parts of his armor to break off and form a large blue diamond shape shield. Smashing into the shield with a green explosion, the shield held up as Shizune moved inside unaware of what happened.
She ran up to Kat who was saying "Just about... there! We're in!" as the second doors opened up for them.
"Everybody inside! Go, go, go!" called out Carter as Naruto shielded their retreat from the combine fire. Emile, entering in first with Thom moved to the second doors and aimed down the new entrance as they waited for the others. Following them inside were Rosenda and Nartalie as Jorge and Naruto pulled up the rear sealing the doors behind them, shutting the Covenant out.
Seeing Noble Team fully accounted for and okay, walked next to Carter as they approached the new entrance. "Sir" spoke Carter as Naruto gave him a nod.
"Higher heard strange things about the relay station and brought me here to be your backup. It's a good thing I did come back to Reach. You can brief me later on everything. Let's finish up here."
Carter gave him a nod saying "We need to find the control room. From there, Kat can get the relay back online. Emile, post here. If we flush any hostiles, they're yours. All right let's do this". Giving the team the go signal Natalie and Thom entered first clearing out the area as Naruto, Kat and Carter followed. From behind them was Shizune with Jorge and Jun brining up the rear.
"Can't see a thing. Noble, turn on your night vision."
With their night vision on they could now see clearly. "Control room. Go easy." Called Catherine as they moved forward as Natalie turns the corridor and sees a body.
"Thom, search that body" called out Kat as she started looking over the console with Shizune appearing at her side to help.
As Tom began to search the body, Carter found an injured trooper leaning against the wall. "Where's the rest of your unit?" he asked as Shizune spotting the trooper move away from the console to treat his injuries as Naruto watched over them.
"We got split. I don't think they... It sounded bad on the comms" he started as Shizune's hands glow green with chakra as she placed it over his wounds. "An elemental…. Boy I'm sure lucky" he added breathing out a breath of relief as the pain started to fade for him.
"All right, Corporal, stay put. She will get you back on your feet."
Thom searching through the body found a data module on the body as Kat looks at further damage on the controls.
"Damn. Plasma damage!"
"Found something" said Thom who tossed it to Kat once he gained her attention.
"Good work. Now let's see what this is" she stated catching and looking it over.
"I've got a live one over here! Come on, out you come" called Jorge picking up a young female from her hiding spot, but she continues hitting him while yelling something in Hungarian.
"It's all right, we're not going to hurt you."
"Jorge..." - Carter
"I've got her." Putting down his weapon and grabbing her by the arms to hold her in place. "Keep still, and I'll release you."
"Még... Itt vannak." (They are still here...)
Jorge stiffens in horror just as an elite that was identified as a Field Marshal jumps down. Jorge barely avoids the Elite's Energy Sword while covering the female with his body. The Marshal growls a challenge at the rest of Noble Team and charges, while three more Zealots jump down next to him.
"What's your status?! Over?" - Emile
"We've been engaged!" yelled Carter as the Marshal nearly cuts down Kat, but he pushes her out of the way. Natalie maintained constant fire during this, and the Elite's shield finally collapses, but he knocks her down as he runs out the door.
"Bad guy coming out!"
One Zealot rushed to attack Shizune and the trooper with an energy sword when Naruto moved in front and smashed the attacking arm away. With another swing of his unarmed arm, the Zealot threw away Naruto's weapon.
With the loss of his weapon, he resorted to hand to hand, raining blows on its chest and body. The Zealot took the blows and retaliated with a swing of his sword, but Naruto grabbed the wrist and smashed his helmet into its skull stunning it. Kicking its knee, he dropped the Zealot to a knee allowing him to see the other Zealot rushing around to grab Shizune and the trooper. Twisting the grabbed wrist he followed it up with a kick to its head swinging the Zealot to the side forcing the other Zealot to abandon his attempt to grab them.
Another Zealot grabs Natalie by the neck and extends an Energy Dagger, but she punches him, stunning him momentarily. The Elite, unfazed, roars at Natalie, and prepares to stab again when Thom kicks it up and off her Rosenda being in position slammed her foot on the Zealot's chest keeping him in place and raining LMG fire upon it draining the Zealot's shields before Thom finishes it with a few rounds to the head.
Carter then kicks a rifle to Natalie who dives for it and brings it to bear at the fleeing Zealot. The civilian was screaming in the background as the last Zealot headed through the door.
"That tango blew past me. Permission to pursue?" - Emile-A239
"Negative, Four, stay on the entrance. Two, handle her" stated Carter pointing at the civilian as Naruto made and left a clone with Shizune as he moved to follow after the Zealot. "Five, Six, Seven clear the hole. Support the Commander"
Noble Six reloads, Jorge and Noble Six head into the room the Zealots retreated into, which Jorge then seals shut behind them. A task that didn't take long as the small team hunted down the Zealot while the Field Marshall was long gone.
"How long?" stated Carter looking over Kat and Shizune working on the console.
"Question of my life. If the question is when will this station be back online, two weeks, earliest. This is plasma damage. All major uplink components are fried."
"Two minutes is too long."
"Which is why I'm splicing into the main overland bundle to get you a direct line to Colonel Holland... You're in my light, Commander."
Turning to Jorge, "Find out what she knows."
Jorge taps the civilian girl's shoulder, but she shoves his hand off. Emile chuckles. "What's your name? Do you live around here?". Trying to form a more human connection se takes his helmet off and spoke in Hungarian asking for her name/
"Sára." She answers as he continues talking to her. "Your accent sounds familiar. Sopron?"
"Tengeri."
Looking over to the dead body he asks "Friend of yours?"
"Father."
"Sajnálom. I'm sorry."
"Why would you be?" she states bitterly.
"Big man forgets what he is sometimes." Stated Emile looking at Thom as Jorge walked over to him. "She just lost her father." He glared, staring him down. Looking over to Carter he states, "She needs a full psychiatric workup."
"She's not the only one."
"Lock it down, both of you! Get her on her feet... the body stays here." Resolves Carter
"Thank you, sir."Jorge states walking by Emile and glares at him, then helps Sára get on her feet.
"Signal! It's patchy, but it's there." Catherine as Shizune was able to use a link from her computer to get her own signal for Naruto to report in to Tsunade.
"I'll take it." - Carter
"Best not touch anything. You wouldn't want to ground this place."
With Noble Team, sans Carter, Naruto, and Shizune leave the room, taking Sára with them. With just the three of them Carter started to speak with Holland.
"... I'm barely getting you. What's your situation, over?" stated Holland.
"Colonel, this is Noble One. There are no rebels. The Covenant are on Reach. Acknowledge?"
"Come again, Noble One? Did you say Covenant?"
"Affirmative. It's the WINTER CONTINGENCY."
"May God help us all..."
