The pilot of the pelican yanked hard on his controls to pull the plane into a steep climb once seeing the first falcon entered and powered down midair. Breaking away from the climb to move into a safer position to hover, it was joined by the other falcon and the two sparrows as they watched the falcon spiral towards the ground.
With Falcon
The Falcon had lost its power, via the EMP effects of the shield, and began to spin out of control. "We just lost all power! We're going down!" shouted the pilot. Hearing this Jorge turned to the two Spartan's ordering them to "Lock your armor, Spartans!"
"Brace for landing" yelled the pilot as the falcon crashes hard into the ground with the crew tossed around from impact.
Nat clearing her vision, opened her eyes to see Thom standing over her with an assault rifle and his hand out. Grabbing his outstretched hand, she was pulled to her feet as Jorge emerges from the falcon wreckage, tossing out equipment. He pulled out his chain gun as a groan of pain was heard.
Looking over, Jorge saw that the pilot was alive but pinned underneath the wreckage of the pilot's console. "Pilot's alive but pinned!" he stated as sounds of plasma fire was heard before it smacked into the nearby area.
"Take cover!" shouted Thom moving behind a rock to fire at the Covenant forces moving upon them.
"Returning fire!" yelled back Nat firing her battle rifle and taking out a few charging elites.
"I'm showing hostiles all over the place, we gotta move" called out Jorge but was also worried about the pinned pilot. A few plasma rounds pinged off the wreckage and a bit off his armor which snapped him back to focus. Pulling out slightly from cover, he unleashed a nonstop barrage of rounds at the advancing Covenant forces.
As the firefight was kicking up, a thud landed behind Jorge to reveal Naruto in a slight crouch. Aiming his battle rifle, he took out a few jackals with well place rounds before facing Jorge.
"Pilot's pinned" he called to him to which he nodded. "Thom, Nat, go" he ordered stowing his weapon to move the wreckage from the pilot as the two Spartan's were unleashed upon the Covenant. Moving more of the wreckage he came across the pilot who was pinned and bleeding out.
"Jorge. Move the wreckage" he spoke forming hand seals making his hands glow green. Jorge hearing this placed down his turret and moved to pick up the last piece of wreckage pinning the pilot. Upon its removal, Naruto saw the pilot bleeding out faster to which he placed his green glowing hands on the wound to heal it. Pumping enough chakra into the wound, he could see the pilot already breathing easier.
"I got it from here. Go support the others. I will catch up when I'm down here" stated Naruto to which Jorge nodded and took off with his chain gun in hand. With Jorge gone he focused on healing the pilot as much as possible in order for him to be moved. Something that only took a few seconds. With a simple clone picking up the pilot and running off, he moved up to catch up with the rest of the Spartan's.
Arriving on the scene he saw the three engaged in heavy combat. Nat was fighting two elites in close combat, Thom was shooting at a pair of elites who tried to support them, and Jorge was suppressing an enemy squad behind cover.
Acting quick, he flung a kunai at one of the elites and formed a seal to blow a fireball at the squad hiding behind cover. The kunai stabbed deep into the enemy elite's armor making him stubble back. Nat had followed this up by grabbing the stabbed knife and dragging it up and along the elite worsening the wound from a minor wound to a fatal. Whipping the kunai out at the end leaving the elite to fall to its knees in pain, she jammed it into the second elite's throat.
The fireball exploded on the enemy cover, sending the surviving squad flying in random directions. Easy pickings for Jorge who gun them down. "Commander, we got eyes on the spire. Looks like a staging area."
"Copy, we have your visual. Dot's working the problem, stand by." Answered Carter as a Phantom seemingly appears out of nowhere in the spire's midsection, and flies away.
"Noble Five, ONI believes those spires to be teleportation terminals" reported Auntie Dot gaining both Naruto's and Kora's attention.
"Think you can hack and steal the tech if I get you inside?"
: It would be my pleasure : answered back Kora
"Teleporter? Linked to what?" called out Jorge which was a good question.
"Unknown but Frigate Grafton is on-station ready to kill that spire, but first we need to power down its shields" finished Carter.
"Understood. I'll hold these bastards off, find a way to the top of the spire" called out Jorge turning around and firing at the approaching enemies as the other three make it to the spire.
Thom eventually made it to one of the gravity lifts by performing a leap roll to evade the explosion of a plasma grenade, and upon standing up the lift sent him up to the top of spire. Alternatively, Nat hijacked a low flying Banshee and flew to the top. Taking the stealthy route Naruto jumped up with his hand grabbing a ledge the outside spire wall, to which he used to springboard his way up some distance. Coming to the peak of his launch, he used chakra to stick his feet to the side and run up the rest of the distance.
"Noble Leader, they are on their way up."
"Good. Get in there. Take out that shield. Grafton won't be on standby forever. I'm en route with a Falcon. We'll pick you up as soon as you knock out power to that shield."
"Ready when you guys are."
Thom arriving first proceeded to gun down the Covenant forces at the top of the spire. Firing his assault rifle, the two elites and few grunts stood no chance leaving only the Elite Ultra. The Elite Ultra, was seen manning the controls of the spire, stopped upon noticing him and drawing his Energy Sword. The Ultra gave a roar of rage and charged at him, coming into the opening for a banshee to come smashing into him as Nat came rolling to Thom side from launching it.
"Was that necessary? That's a bit overkill" spoke Thom as Nat shrugged.
Before they could continue Carter came on the comms again for them to "Hurry up. The frigate is inbounded to blow up that spire. It can't stay in its current location and remain a target."
Hearing this they proceeded to the spire controls to notice Naruto already there typing away with Kora projected on the console. "He got here so quietly" muttered Thom.
: Got the tech info and shutting down the shields. Let's get out of here : spoke Kora to which Naruto removed her from the console and sprinted out with the two fellow Spartans following.
As the shield dissipated the three sprinted for a Falcon now hovering nearby and leaped off the spire. Naruto and Nat landed inside fine while Thom is caught by Jorge who came in a little short and pulled up into the Falcon.
"Get us outta here" said Carter from a nearby seat as Kora and Naruto looked over the data they pulled from the spire.
The Falcon begins to pull away from the spire. "Control? This is Noble One. Spire One is green, and you're free to engage. Have a nice day."
"Copy that, Noble One. Be advised, all ground units: Frigate Three-One-Eight heavy is inbound, and MAC rounds have been authorized." Air ControlCOMcalled out to all ally radio frequencies.
Jorge, hearing this faced Carter. "MAC rounds? In atmosphere?"
"One way to get their attention! Hang on to your teeth, people!"
The UNSC Grafton, in a shallow dive, moves towards the spire past the Falcon with Naruto, Nat, Thom, Carter, and Jorge. The Spartans brace themselves except Naruto who was looking through the data with Kora. "Wait, something isn't adding up" spoke Naruto when the true purpose of the spire was displayed.
"WAIT!" he shouted but it was too late. The Grafton continues to move towards the spire, and, with a bright flash, fires its MAC cannon, hitting the Spire and shattering it. "UNSC Grafton! Pull out of the area immediately. Pilot, pull out now!" roared Naruto confusing everyone. Jorge, satisfied, turns back and looks at Naruto confused, failing to notice as a purple glow illuminates the sky above the Grafton. An energy projector beam shoots down from the sky and hits Grafton's bow section, instantly gutting the ship. Secondary explosions blossom along the hull, and Grafton begins to plummet towards the ground.
"New contact. High-tonnage." comm in Auntie Dot
The Spartans watch as the aft section of the Grafton explodes. The forward section crashes to the ground as more pieces fall to the ground after it.
"No. No! Somebody tell me this ain't happening!" - Jorge
"UNSC frigate Grafton, do you copy?" - Air Control (COM
Carter activating his comms, "Grafton is dust! We need to get out of here, now!".
As the shattered UNSC Grafton falls towards the surface, a massive CSO-class supercarrier, known as the Long Night of Solace, is revealed holding position over the destroyed spire. Its weapons now focused on the nearby human forces.
Taking action immediately Naruto leapt from the falcon and landed on a nearby cliff. Placing his hands inches from each other he pushed chakra into it forming blue and red spheres that slowly combined into purple.
"Naruto stop! You don't have enough energy to pull off a Bujiidama right now. You used too much of our chakra in the last battles. It wouldn't even pierce their shields." Spoke Kurama as sparks were coming off Naruto's armor.
"They won this battle. But not the war." Spoke Kurama as Naruto dispersed the chakra forced to watch as the Covenant supercarrier do as it pleases.
"Kora, send an alert to the rest of the fleet and nearby forces. We are to regroup and shore up defenses at the base and the nearby cities. Inform Tsunade and Catherine of the updated situation and request for a fleet to arrive now! We can't afford to waste anymore time."
