Chapter 1: Meet the Avatar
Earth

Water
Many years ago, Avatar Aang and his newfound friends banded together to stop the hundred year war of all the nations bringing them together in harmony. Aang and Fire Lord Zuko worked together to bring the nations into one unit and called it…. Republic City. This was a nation where benders and nonbenders alike could live together.
Avatar Aang had done many deeds in his lifetime, but unfortunately, his time had come to an end, and like the cycle of the seasons, a new avatar had been born.
This new avatar was named Korra. She was an excellent bender and nearly had all elements mastered, with the exception of air. But soon, she will come across a certain person that will change everything….
A little girl in airbending clothing was running for her life. She saw two other people and told them to get down.
"Get down! Get down!" she said.
Another little girl saw her.
"Ikki what's…."
"Jinora, Kuzon,. Get down!" Ikki shouted.
They saw a group of small sky bison behind her. Kuzon knew he had to protect Jinora and Ikki otherwise his head would be on a platter. He created a beam of light with his left hand, and then held the two kids close as the bison passed by. Soon the last sky bison flew by, and the three were unharmed.
"Well, I guess that's what happened when you try to milk a bison," Ikki said.
Jinora grabbed Ikki and pinned her to a wall. She was letting out spit.
"Jinora no, don't you dare!" she said.
Kuzon grabbed the two kids and held them back.
"Would you two knock it off!" Kuzon said.
"Ahh its ok Kuzon, I'm too excited to be in a mood," Ikki said.
"Oh right, we're going to visit Gran Gran," Jinora said, "You're still the annoying sister I grew up with."
Ikki tried pulling her head. Kuzon bonked their heads together.
"I said knock it off!" he said to the kids, "Now the sooner we do these chores for Uncle Tenzin, the sooner we can leave. So how about we get along for the next few hours. Ok Jinora?"
"Sure… whatever you say," Jinora said.
"Ok Ikk…."
Kuzon noticed Ikki escaped his grasp.
"So what are we waiting for!" Ikki said.
Kuzon shook his head and tagged along.
Ever since Kuzon was a child, he had been taken in and raised by his surrogate uncle Tenzin, and his wife Pema. Tenzin noticed that Kuzon had an incredible gift, and was eager to train him. He may have a mind of his own, but he had deep respect for his surrogate uncle. Kuzon was special because his bending was not like anyone else's
Later on they were riding with Tenzin, and his family to the north pole. Ikki was asking multiple times if they were at the destination yet.
"Yes Ikki, as I've been telling you for the past thousand times," Tenzin said, "We are finally… here."
"Yay!" Ikki said as she jumped out.
Tenzin and Pema's youngest son, Meelo was chewing on Tenzin's head, much to his torture. The three of them walked over to Tenzin's mother, Katara, a master waterbender.
"Mother its good to see you," he said, "I can't tell you how happy I am to see you….. Please help me."
Katara chuckled and picked the young boy up from Tenzin's head.
"Unhand me strange woman!" Meelo said.
"Meelo don't say such strange things, that's your grandmother," Tenzin saiad.
Kaatara turned to the others.
"Its so good to see all of you," she said before turning to Kuzon, "Especially you Kuzon. You've certainly grown."
"Thanks Gran-gran," Kuzon said as he bowed, "But I got a bit of time to go before I'm as tall as arrow head here."
Katara laughed.
"Still making jokes as usual," Katara said.
As the others were walking around the north pole, Kuzon was searching around.
"So where is this guest of honor I've been hearing about?" Kuzon asked, "From what Uncle told me, she's a big deal."
"Yes, a very big deal," Katara said, "Waterbending is her natural habitat, but she's capable of much more."
Tenzin looked to his left to see a dark skinned girl with her hair in a ponytail, in traditional water nation clothes.
"Korra?" he asked, "You've gotten so big!"
Korra bowed before Tenzin.
"Its an honor to see you again Tenzin," Korra said.
"The honor is all mine," Tenzin said, "Allow me to introduce you to my wife and family. And this young man is my nephew, Kuzon."
Kuzon looked to see the girl.
"Kuzon, this is Korra, the avatar," Katara said, introducing them to her.
"Pleased to meet your acquaintance," they said, shaking Korra's hand.
"Pleasure's all mine," Korra said with a smile, "I've heard a lot about you. Tenzin, is he really the powerful fighter I've been hearing about?"
Korra noticed the staff that Kuzon had behind him.
"What's that behind you?" she asked.
"Oh this, this is my staff," Kuzon said, "I've had it since I was 5, and it gives me a bit of an edge in combat."
"Fascinating," Korra said.
A giant polar bear dog walked up to Kuzon.
"This is my polar bear dog, Naga,' Korra said, "She may look big and tough, but she's a sweetie deep down."
Naga then licked Kuzon's face. This was a sign that she liked him.
"Haha, quite a wonder," he said.
"That aside, I'm looking forward to the airbending training," Korra said with a smile, "When do we get started?"
"Yea…. um…" Tenzin began.
Korra noticed that look.
"Honey, you're going to have to tell her sooner or later," Pema said.
"Tell me what?" Korra asked.
"I'm truly sorry Korra, but your training may have to wait a while. I'm only here for a visit, then I must return to Republic City," Tenzin explained.
"But… but I thought you were gonna move here and train me," Korra said, "How long will it be? A week, a month?"
"I'm afraid much longer than that," Tenzin said, "I have responsibilities as one of the leaders of Republic City. The situation there is very unstable."
"But you also have a responsibility to train me," Korra said, "As much as I could find another teacher in the meantime, you're the only one. We're stuck with each other, like it or not."
"I wish there were another way," Tenzin said.
"Then I'll just go with you to Republic City," Korra said.
"That's a great idea!" Kuzon said with a smile, "Plus we could get to-"
"Absolutely not!" A guard of the white lotus said, "The world is dangerous and we were tasked with guarding you while you mastered all 4 elements!"
"I get that, but that doesn't mean you have to keep her locked up in this cage," Kuzon said, "Sooner or later, she'll need to get out and see the world with her own eyes!"
Korra sighed and left the room. Kuzon couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor girl. He went after her. Later on everyone except for Kuzon began to leave back for Republic City. He said he had some 'unfinished business' to attend to. Kuzon saw Korra sitting by an igloo.
"Rough day?" he asked.
"Tell me about it," Korra answered as she turned around, "I thought you had gone to Republic City with Tenzin."
"I didn't feel good about leaving a pretty girl like you upset," Kuzon said.
Korra chuckled at the compliment.
"It just isn't fair that I can't start training," she said.
Kuzon then looked to Korra.
"I don't know if this will cheer you up or not but…." Kuzon said.
He then stood up and pushed his palm forward, emitting a flicker of light. Korra looked in amazement.
"Y-you're a bender?" she asked.
"Well… sort of," Kuzon said, "I'm not sure how, but somehow I can manipulate light and use it in my own image. I can also create constructs, or blasts of light as a projectile. I don't know how, but I can."
Korra smiled in amazement at all of these facts.
"So here's what I'm thinking. We sneak over to Republic City, and I get some training started for you," Kuzon said, "I may not be an airbender, but I have some big knowledge."
"You would do that?" she asked.
"Damn straight," Kuzon said, "Anything to help the avatar."
Korra smiled at her new friend.
