What If the Carnotaurus from Disney's "Dinosaur" was in Jurassic World?
We've seen this before, six campers come to Isla Nublar, to Camp Cretaceous. Three of them sneak out in the dead of night and two of them end up in the Raptor Paddock.
The two mentioned boys all sat on the couch while Brooklynn was speaking to Roxie and Dave. It was relatively silent, save for Kenji popping his lips every five seconds as Darius was starting to shake before he exploded. "How could you do something so stupid?!"
That's something we all ask ourselves at certain points in life.
"I do a lot of stupid things," Kenji said nonchalantly. "So you'll have to be a little more specific than that."
(Inhales deeply.) . . . Bruh.
At the African American's glare, Kenji winced. "Okay, not one of my best idea but girls love a grand gesture." he turns to Darius and taps him on the knee. "You'll understand when you're older, Dino-Nerd."
Darius shook his head. Did he really just say he did all of that to impress Brooklyn? I don't think I'll ever understand rich kids.
Nah, you would, but Kenji's just a sock drawer mixed with underwear at this point in time. For the most part.
"Look, I don't wanna get kicked out either," Kenji said to them both. "When my dad. . ." He looked away, getting Darius's attention, his anger and frustration lowering a little.
"My whole life, I've been trying to make him proud." Kenji said sadly. "If he finds out that I messed up again, he might. . . finally give up on me for good."
Most of Darius's anger and frustration turned to sympathy before they heard a door opening. Looking up, they saw Roxie and Dave walking to them.
"We gave Brooklyn a warning for sneaking out," Dave said, surprisingly in a stern tone. He crosses his arms with a frown. "But what you two chuckle heads did-"
"Especially you, Kenji!" Roxie said, pointing to the Asian teen. "Your recklessness put your's and Darius's lives in danger!" Kenji winced slightly as Roxie went on saying, "We should call your parents-"
"It was my fault!" Darius exclaimed. This caught the four of them off guard.
He then gave a poorly told lie to cover Kenji's mistake. Kenji even managed to help with the lie, even when the Counselors tried to think of Brooklynn Colin's retelling of the Raptor Incident.
Completely falling for it, Dave turned to Roxie. "Ultimately, no harm, no foul. Let's chalk the whole thing up to experience. Lessons, friendships-This is what camp's about! Who's with me?"
"Fine," Roxie conceded before holding her finger at them. "But one more misstep. . ." she said in a warning tone.
"We won't let you down," Darius said.
Kenji just smirked and popped his lips again. The African American winced but smiled at the two counselors. The two glanced at one another for a brief moment before turning back to them.
"So, what are we doing tomorrow?" Darius asked.
He shouldn't have asked.
The next day they were brought to their task/punishment. They will not be forgetting the smell. Not for a long time.
"That is one big pile of shit." Darius stated looking at the big pile of dinosaur droppings in front of him and Kenji. "Yep. One big pile of shit." Darius nodded. "Hmm-hmm."
Somewhere in the US, Ian Malcolm sneezed.
He glanced back and saw the other campers pinching their noses and that Brooklynn had an expression that just said: Better you than me.
Roxie tossed shovels to the other two boys. "Have fun cleaning this up as much as possible you two until we get back from the genetics lab." she said to them before leaving to drive the truck.
"Here." Dave then tosses a small bottle to Darius. At the boy's raised eyebrow, Dave says, "Cologne. This will help with the smell and the LADIES~! What-what?"
Then he speaks in a serious tone. "But mostly for the smell. The stench can really linger." As he walks away and gets into the van, Brooklynn snaps a picture of them.
As the jeep drives away, Darius sees Kenji shaking his foot after stepping a little too close to the pile. "Ew, gross." he muttered. Darius sighed in exasperation and resigned himself to the punishment given to him.
Scooping dinosaur shit with the rich kid.
Not the worst thing to happen. But then again, it's Kenji.
Two hours passed as the two kids shoveled dinosaur shit into the barrels. Kenji was not helping much, Darius noted. And if one would notice, Darius was angry about the whole thing. He looked like he was ready to jam his shovel down someone's throat.
"This bites!" exclaimed Darius. "No, actually, this shit stinks!" He corrected before scowling at Kenji. "While everyone gets to go to a genetics lab I am stuck shoveling dino-poop when I could be watching a live dinosaur birth! That's been my dream since forever!"
Kenji leans on his shovel like a cane. "Dude, that's not a dream." he said. "A dream is where you save a bunch of mermaids from a shark! Besides, why would you like to go to some stupid genetics lab anyway?"
Darius glared at the Asian teen. "Are you serious, Kenji? Those scientists are heroes! They recreated a T-Rex. A T-REX! Do you have any idea what it takes to do that?"
"It's cute that you were excited about a boring lab," Kenji said mockingly. "Noobs like you don't know half the stuff that's here."
"Like what?" Darius asked in an angry tone. Kenji only laughed in response. Darius scoffed. "You're nothing but talk."
"Dude, we don't have to be here." Kenji said. Darius paused and looked to him. Alex leans into view behind the Asian teen and shakes his head at Darius. "I have been to this park like 50 kagillion times and I am VIP, so I have all the inside knowledge and because you helped me out last night, I might be willing to show you the good stuff."
"No, no. I can't get in more trouble," Darius says, going back to shoveling dinosaur shit.
"Okay," Kenji said, shrugging. "But this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see dinosaurs."
Darius eventually gave in and followed Kenji in a secret tunnel system meant for transporting animals and supplies through the park and they traveled to the Carnotaurus Paddock.
Or rather. . .
Darius noticed how the Paddock fence was curving inward and the light indicator was on the other side. "You know this place like the back of your hand, right?" he asked Kenji, looking left and right.
Kenji scoffed. "Duh."
Darius looked left and right again. "So you know what side the Carnotaurs is on, right?"
Then Darius's attention was pulled to a bird that flew above him and landed on a tree trunk like a wood pecker. The Paddock was filled with thick underbrush and foliage that he could barely see the bird. But he saw the tree trunk move ever so slightly to the point the bird flew away.
Darius narrowed his eyes in confusion before he saw. . . saliva dripping down from the tree above and landed on a tree limb near him. Darius reached down to touch it and then looked up in rising confusion. But then his eyes widened in horror and fear.
"Uh, hey," Kenji said, not noticing his reaction. "You're going to miss the Carno."
". . . Dude," he said, turning his head and saw Darius looking up at the trees. Furrowing his eyebrow, he looked up where Darius was looking.
And he saw a large mouth full of sharp teeth covered in drool or saliva. And Kenji realized what Darius was worried about.
They were inside the Paddock with the Carnotaurus.
"Run," Darius whispered.
Nearly ten minutes passed as both Darius and Kenji ran as hard as they could through the paddock. Darius's eyes widened in fear as he could hear the roars from the Carnotaurus within the foliage. The tree branches snap and the leaves rustle and shake as the carnivore chases after them with heavy footfalls.
In the back of Darius's Dino-Nerd brain with all his knowledge about almost every dinosaur discovered, he noticed something about the footfalls heavily implied that what was chasing him and Kenji was big, like bigger than a Carnotaurus.
Or bigger than a Tyrannosaurus Rex for that matter, Darius thought to himself. But that should be impossible. Right?
Then he hears Kenji shouting, "Dude! It's gaining!"
"It's fast, but not on fast turns!" Darius said out loud, quickly thinking of a plan. "On my count, zig-zag!"
He hears the jaws closing just less than two feet away from his head and felt the gust of wind from the action on the back of his neck.
"1, 2, 3!" Then both Kenji and Darius make a tight turn to the left.
Based on the noise that followed after, they successfully dodged the Carnotaurus as it fell to the ground.
The roar that came after told Darius that it wasn't happy.
Darius looked ahead and saw a square hole in the fence with a cage of a similar shape in the fence, most likely a place to put food in the paddock for the dinosaur. Luckily, it was big enough for teenage humans like Kenji and Darius to climb in and out. "Over there!"
The Carnotaurus burst out of the trees just as Kenji reached the cage and crawled out. And then the cage closed on Darius before he could crawl out. The African American's eyes widened more than before, if that was possible. He was locked inside!
"Kenji, help!" Darius grunted as he tried to push the cage door open before he looked up and saw that the Asian American teen was nowhere in sight.
"Are you kidding me, Kenji?!" Darius shouted in anger before looking back to see the Carnotaurus and that it was bigger than any carnivore Darius ever knew.
Ho-oly shit! Darius thought in fear. That beast is like five times the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex or a Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus! How the fuck is that possible?!
How would he want that answer? Movie-verse Scientific or cinematic logic?
He looked ahead just in time to see Kenji come back with a stick. He arrived and jammed it under the gate. Darius placed his hands under the cage door and pulled with all his might stick with Kenji's help, they force the cage gate open and Darius crawls out just in time as the Carnotaurus slams its snout into the cage where the boy's legs were earlier.
The three teens fell back and look at the Carnotaurus, but all they see is a crimson red hide with a brown underbelly and two curved horns over its eyes and that the Carnotaurus was now bearing a bleeding scar on its face as it roars at the humans in frustration.
The three teens stare before Kenji starts whooping in victory. "Did the widdle dinosaur hurt its nose?" he asked the Carnotaurus mockingly. "You think you slick, Red Bull? You got nothing!"
He sees the look Darius was giving him. "Red Bull, because of the skin and horns." he explained, gesturing to his body and then making horns on his head with his hands.
"Right. Hey, Red Bull," Darius called to the Carnotaurus. "Your arms are. . . pretty much vestigial at this point!"
Trash talking to a dinosaur was not easy, apparently. The two boys share a laugh to mock the Carnotaurus. Just then Red Bull slammed his head against the fence with an angry roar.
The act caught the African and Asian Americans off guard that they stumble back, now fearful that the Carnotaurus would manage to break out of its Paddock.
Darius then realized something. "What time were they supposed to be back from the lab?" he asked.
The two boys then make a break for it, to return to the pile of dinosaur shit before Roxie, Dave and the others return from their Genetics Lab tour.
While Darius decided that the encounter was enough excitement for the day, he didn't realize how the now dubbed Red Bull felt.
Darius may know everything that paleontologists like Dr. Grant knew about dinosaurs from fossils, but he along with the majority of people didn't fully comprehend the capacity of emotional intelligence of dinosaurs.
As the two boys ran, Red Bull watched their retreating forms with narrowed eyes of hatred and anger. The Carnotaurus growled lowly, the promise to exact vengeance on the humans that had trespassed in his territory and mocked him.
It would be less than two days when Red Bull gets the chance given to him. For the Indominus Rex broke out of her Paddock and went on her killing spree. But that's not all she did.
Ben sighed in resignation as the others began to walk away from the ruined remains of Camp Cretaceous and walked into jungle after them while muttering, "It's just one dinosaur. It's just one dinosaur."
Not anymore.
The Indominus Rex approached Paddock fence that was larger than her own, growling lowly. She sniffed the air and let out a roar, one that sounded less like a Tyrannosaur or a Carnosaur and more like a Abeilasaur like a Carnotaurus or a Majungasaurus.
Her call was answered by the howl of the beast inside the foliage. Tree limbs snapped and leaves rustled as a bloody crimson hide came into view followed by a large head with two curved horns and a mouthful of sharp teeth appeared behind the Paddock fence, a pair of brown eyes looking at her.
The Indominus stepped back slightly, her thermal vision giving her a clear image of what she was looking at. A carnivorous dinosaur that was bigger than her. That's something she could use to her advantage.
"Hey," the Indominus grumbled in a greeting. "Want to get out and cause some chaos?"
The Red Bull narrowed his eyes slightly before snarling his answer.
"I thought so," the Indominus grinned before she grabbed the fence in front of her with her jaws and hands and then pulled it down with her strength.
The Red Bull's head peaked out of the fence's hole, growling lowly to the Indominus Rex. He then lowered his head down as he walked around the Paddock until he found what he was hoping for.
Footprints.
Human footprints. More accurately, the footprints of Darius Bowman and Kenji Kon. The Red Bull growled, his eyes narrowing as the Indominus Rex joined his side.
"Let the games begin," the Indominus growled.
The Hunt was on.
Meanwhile, as the Red Bull and the Indominus started stalking after the Nublar Six, the Campers were arguing about whether or not they were lost. Something like that.
"Please! You're trying to hide the fact you're lost too, Mr. VIP!" Brooklynn Colin said to Kenji with a scoff while Darius was walking a little ways ahead. "Face it! We're lost! No one knows where we're are!"
"I know exactly where we are!" Darius suddenly declared in excitement. "We're by the Carnotaurus Paddock." He runs ahead into the underbrush. "I thought this place looked familiar!"
Kenji tried to play it off as part of his excellent leadership, but no one really listened to him.
"I remember the fence!" Darius said before he saw the state of the Paddock fence and his smile was wiped off his face. "The broken. . . ripped down fence."
Ben Pincus whimpered a little. "That means. . . That the Red Bull is out here with us," he said, looking around fearfully.
"Now we need to worry about the Indominus AND the Red Bull," Darius said grimly. Then he realized that it was Ben that said the Red Bull's name when he thought that he and Kenji were the only ones to know. "Wait, how do you know about the Red Bull?"
"We all know," Yazmina Faduloa said, walking past him and Ben. "Kenji told us the day after it happened."
"In my defense, me saving your life was pretty cool," Kenji said in defense at Darius's incredulous glare.
Darius sighed in response. He can be mad or frustrated about that later. The kids were all still looking to him to lead them to safety, mainly because of Kenji for some reason. "Okay, we need to keep going. This Paddock is north of the park, if we keep moving we'll reach Main Street."
Just then a pair of roars howled somewhere in the jungle. VERY close by. This prompted Darius to make the decision to head to the Genetics Lab that should be closer to their location than Main Street.
Unbeknownst to them, the Red Bull and the Indominus were closing in.
"So. . . what was the Red Bull like?" Brooklynn asked Darius as they walked through the jungle. "Kenji wasn't big on the details other than the reason behind the name."
"Uh, well, honestly, we didn't get to see much other than a mouthful of teeth and a bad attitude," Darius remarked, getting Brooklynn to laugh despite the situation. "But I'll say that it seemed to me that the Red Bull was bigger than a Carnotaurus."
Brooklynn raised her eyebrow in response. "How big are we talking about?" she asked.
"Well, uh, picture the Indominus as one of those huge dogs and think of it standing next to a Grizzly Bear." Darius said with a grimace.
Brooklynn's eyes widened in fear at the mental image and looked around fearfully.
The Red Bull watched as the Campers escaped the Indominus Rex in a brown van. His eyes narrowed as the strange, long limbed female Albino youngling seemed to choose not to pursue.
The Carnotaurus growls to himself and makes his way past the Albino female. He growled to her as he passed her.
The Indominus looked up at him. "Excuse me? I'm perfectly capable of hunting those children." she snarled. She ran a dozen yards ahead of the Red Bull, then stopped and looked back impudently, her quills perked and with the look on her face of a young child telling their father that they are perfectly qualified to go on their first hunt.
With a huff, the Carnotaurus started moving in a spurt that brought him to the Indominus immediately, and with a sweep of his massive head he sent the Albino hybrid dinosaur rolling a dozen yards behind him in a manner of speech that said plainly enough, "That's where you belong with you're going hunting with me!"
The Red Bull followed the trail of the human vehicle before finding it at the bottom of a hill. He growled as he lowered his head, but found no human inside.
Snarling the Carnotaurus grabbed the van in his jaws and then tossed it aside into the canopy and huffed, his small hands clenching in anger. But then he caught their scent and saw the trail leading to a human structure that was less than a quarter mile away.
Hardly ten minutes passed when a man known as Eddie ran out of the Genetics Lab, the Campers running after him.
"Stop! What are you doing?!" Darius called after him.
"Getting out of here, alive!" Eddie retorted frantically. "Where's the van?"
"Uh, wasn't it just right there?" Kenji asked in confusion to Darius.
"RUN!" Bumpy wailed as she ran back to the doors and tried to push her way inside.
Before Darius could reply to Kenji, the Red Bull burst out of the trees and the Campers got a real good look at it.
The Carnotaurus was forty-six feet tall and sixty-four feet long as he roared loudly as he ran towards the Genetics Lab, stepping on Eddie like the man was an insect without a care nor notice.
"Back inside! Back inside!" Darius shouted frantically as the Red Bull came closer to them with every step.
The Campers quickly followed his word, running back inside the Genetics Lab before the Red Bull could catch them.
The Campers would reach the Main Park roughly four hours later the same method they had done in other universes. The journey just took longer without the van to drive them.
After a few more minutes of thinking, he sighs in defeat and looks at the sunset in front of them. Darius hears footsteps followed by Kenji's voice. "Not to be a total downer, but Operation Find People To Help is a bust." Kenji looks at Darius and offers him some popcorn he had found.
Not really caring too much about anything anymore, Darius puts his hand into the bowl. "Dad always talked about coming here for years. I don't think that this is what she had in mind." he says, shaking his head, looking at the view before him.
Kenji just nods his head. "Yup. Welcome to Jurassic World." He said, spreading his arms out as a couple of Pteranadons fly through the air and the Mosasaurus splashes in the Jurassic World Lagoon.
Suddenly, a loud alarm comes through the speakers. Ben wakes up, and looks around in fear. Everyone just waits for the alarm to stop blaring so that they can know what to do.
"What's going on?" Ben asks.
Darius just shakes his head. Finally, a new voice comes out from the speakers. "Attention. All park goers must report to the South Ferry Dock for immediate evacuation. Last Ferry Departs in 4 hours."
With that, the speaker cuts out. "That's it?" Brooklynn groans. "No explanation whatsoever?"
"The only way we make it is if we leave now and run." Darius says.
Sammy looks back at Yaz, and then him. "Are we sure that's the best way to go?"
Everyone looks at Yasmina who was limping from her injury from earlier. "I'm fine!" She insists. "I've competed with a torn ACL. It's Ben and Bumpy you guys should be worried about." Yaz points to the two behind her.
"What we need to worry about is catching a boat out of here." Ben says. "And naturally, we have a problem." The teen snatches the map out and lays it out for them to look at. He points to the Lagoon. "We are here. The docks are on the Southern tip of the Island. Even if we were to run at peak Yaz speed, there is no way we can make it."
"You don't know that." Sammy says.
Ben gives her a look that says he DOES know. "Yes I DO. I memorized the evacuation plans on the ferry ride over."
Everyone groans. "Well, aren't YOU just a ray of sunshine." Kenji says looking at Ben.
Darius isn't ready to give up just yet. "Is there any way for us to use what we have? Anybody find a walkie talkie to radio ahead?"
Brooklynn speaks up with sarcasm plainly on her tongue. "Or make a couple of jetpacks real quick? Oh, I know! We should befriend a unicorn!" She shakes her head. "Face it. It's hopeless."
Suddenly, an animatronic woman's voice suddenly was heard. "We will now be arriving at Main Street, your destination for fine dining and shopping at Jurassic World, followed by the Jurassic World Lagoon and the Southern Docks."
Kenji lets out a shout of victory! "Monorail! Wahoo!"
Brooklynn gives a nod. "Well played Universe."
Everyone starts to run towards the monorail station. They saw the stairs that led up to it. Darius had pulled ahead of everyone else, but when he got into the open, he saw the body of a dead person on the ground.
Hearing heavy footsteps, Darius quickly darts back for cover, and motions for everyone to stop. The teens then noticed the dead, half eaten bodies that littered the open area. They all had to fight back the urge to gag and barf all over and give themselves away as the Red Bull appears nearby.
Darius takes a short breath and peeks to see if the Red Bull is gone, and sees the Carnotaurus walking into view.
The Red Bull sniffed the air as he approached the dead bodies, close to where Darius was, forcing him to hide. He hesitantly peaked around the corner and saw the Red Bull's snarling face just before it lunged down!
And clamped down on the dead body on the ground and began to feast on the dead bodies one by one.
While the sight was terrifying, Darius noticed something important. The Red Bull Carnotaurus had turned her back to them, so he motions for them to follow. He makes a break to the stair case base, and hides. He looks behind him, expecting everyone else to be with him, or almost there, but he sees they were right where he had left them.
"What the -?" Darius mouths at them, and waves them forward. He sees them wait for a second, and then he sees Brooklynn, followed by Kenji and Sammy try to get to Darius.
But then the Red Bull turns around, and this scares the three teens into running back. The Red Bull must have noticed movement in their direction, because he drops the dead body he was about to eat and starts moving slowly in their direction.
Darius notices this, and just before the Red Bull can turn his head and face the three campers, Darius throws a rock further away from them to give the Red Bull a distraction and the Campers a chance to escape. The Red Bull hears the clatter, he stops walking to the Campers' hiding spot and moves towards the sound.
The other five campers don't want to waste another second. They race to the stairs, and start climbing up. The Red Bull lets out a roar, alerting them that he was done with searching. Everyone freezes, worried that he would check the stairs, but thankfully, he doesn't. He just keeps on moving.
Kenji and Brooklynn make it up top first. Kenji was about to let out a shout, but Brooklynn puts her hand over his mouth and gives him a look that says, 'We haven't made it out yet.'
Sammy makes it to the top, and the monorail comes around the track and stops. But they wish that it had come just a minute later. "Welcome to the Jurassic World Lagoon. Next stop, Ferry Landing!"
Darius made it up the stairs, but Ben and Yaz were still trailing behind. The Red Bull had heard the voice, and was at the base of the stairs. The Carnotaurus starts to walk up the stairs. Ben and Yaz were almost there, with hardly more than fifteen steps to go!
The Red Bull was trying to climb the stairs, but his feet are too big! He keeps sliding, but the shock waves are enough to cause Ben and Yaz to fall down a couple of steps!
Darius starts rushing towards the two campers as Kenji uses his body to block the doors from shutting. Sammy and Brooklynn try to pull the doors as well.
Darius rushes past Ben, telling him to keep going. He makes it to Yaz, and pulls her by the arms just before the Red Bull can grab her! Darius shoves her up the stairs as the Carnotaurus roars in annoyance and anger! Darius looks at the large Carnotaurus trying to grab him now, and as the Red Bull lets out another growl, the teen punches him square in the nose.
Finally, he is able to pull himself up the stairs and onto the monorail. A second later, and the stairs would have collapsed with him and the Red Bull together. They heard the voice over head saying that they were headed to the docks. Everyone lets out a yell of victory!
Kenji on the other hand was not having it yet.
"No. No, no, NO." Everyone looks at him. "We aren't safe. Watch the doors are gonna open." He points at the doors. Nothing happens. Sammy just scoffs at him. "Alright, fine. Then, the train is gonna stop working. Because that's how it works!"
Everyone shakes their heads at him. "Dude, just chill. We're okay now." Brooklynn said as she walks away.
It would seem like that in almost every universe. The nightmare was almost over. They just had to make it to the docks, and they would be fine.
"Well, we WERE until you said THAT." Kenji give him a look.
After a few minutes, Darius sighs and looks over at the group. "We did it. We're gonna go home!"
But unfortunately, fate had different plans. The monorail would be attacked by Pteranodons and Ben would be snatched from the group. While the others would believe he died that night, Benjamin Pincus would spend two and a half months alone with his Ankylosaurus companion Bumpy in the jungle.
But for the present, things just got worse and worse for the five Nublar Campers.
The Campers tried to take the underground tunnels as a short cut to the docks. But they ended up lost in the tunnels and ended up in a cave that led outside to the jungle.
To make matters worse, at the entrance stood the Red Bull, the Indominus Rex and four Velociraptors: Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo.
Unlike the Indominus, the Carnotaurus chose to attack the INGEN soldiers when Owen Grady and the Raptor Squad went to Sector Five instead of letting the Raptors do the work, and with no one knowing about the Carnotaurus, they were caught off guard and so prevented the Velociraptor known as Echo from being shot by a missile.
"Darius, how did we escape the Raptors again?" Kenji asked fearfully.
"Dave and Roxie saved us," Darius replied.
"Oh, right," Kenji laughed weakly. "So, what should we do?"
"Running would be a good idea," Darius replied.
The Red Bull snarled, narrowing his eyes at the sight of Darius and Kenji before roaring and charging into the cave.
"Stay here, make sure none of these kids get out of the cave!" the Indominus ordered the Raptor Squad as she ran in after the Red Bull.
Blue looked to her sisters. "Doesn't that mean we should follow them in?" she asked. "Make sure they don't get out?"
"Pfft," Delta shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. I'm more glad I'm not hearing that crazy white-"
"Go! Go! Hurry!" Darius shouted to the others as they ran to the tunnel that would be too small for the two big therapods to follow.
But then Yaz's injured leg chose that moment to act up, the pain shot through her shin and caused her to trip.
"Yaz!" Sammy shouted in concern as she ran back to the Track star. Darius ran to their side and pulled Yaz to her feet before shoving her and Sammy forward and then he leapt to the side and the three of them managed to dodge the Red Bull's jaws.
The massive Carnotaurus snarled and made a lunge to the African American boy.
Only for the Indominus to shove his head away and snarled. "Back off, that Nigga's ass is mine to eat."
The Red Bull tilted his head at her, his facial expression saying it plain as day, "Dafaq you say?"
The Indominus Rex roared at Darius. "Playtime's over, Nigga! Time for you and your friends to become my Kiddie Meal!"
But then the Red Bull sent her flying to the right with a swing of his massive head. The Carnotaurus snapped his jaws at the Albino dinosaur hybrid and snarled once before turning his head to Darius. He didn't care about the Indominus' Kiddie Meal, whatever the Hell that was, he had a score to settle with the human.
Only to get a cattle prod to jab him in the face and zap his scar and that made him recoil in pain. The Red Bull narrowed his eyes with a snarl at who held the prod. Of course it was him. Mocking him just wasn't enough.
"Kenji!" Darius shouted to the Asian American teen, the cattle prod in hand. "I'll hold them off as long as I can! You get the others to the docks!"
"But Darius-!" Kenji tried to protest.
"Go! Now!" Darius commanded him firmly. "Get them off this island!"
Kenji's protests died as the Red Bull roared. He urged Sammy and Yaz to the tunnels. "Come on! Go! Go!"
Brooklynn followed after them, only to pause and glanced back with fear and uncertainty as she heard the roars and bellows of the Carnotaurus and Indominus Rex.
Darius ducked down between two large boulders and leaned back as far as he could to stay out of the Carnotaurus's jaws. The Red Bull pulled back and the Indominus took his place.
"Get yo ass over here, Nigga!" the Indominus growled as she reached her hand to Darius.
Darius held the cattle prod and tased the Indominus' hand getting her to recoil with a ZAP.
"Ow!" the Indominus yelped before reaching back in the crevice. "Maybe this time."
ZAP!
"This time."
ZAP!
"This time!"
ZAP!
"This time!"
ZAP!
"Thistime!"ZAP!"Thistime!"ZAP!"Thistime!"ZAP!"Thistime!"ZAP!"Thistime!"ZAP!"Thistime!"ZAP!"Thistime!"ZAP!"THISTIME!" ZAP!
"Ow! Fuck!" The Indominus pulled her hand back and saw it throbbing in pain. "That stick is diabolical." she hissed.
The Carnotaurus gave her an expression that just screamed, 'Are you for real?' before using his head to send her flying into a rocky pillar.
"Will you stop doing that?!" the Indominus roared at the larger therapod who hissed at her in response as the pillar snapped in half.
Darius noticed how a rock fell from the roof of the cave at the Indominus' impact on the pillar and got an idea. A brilliant idea that bordered on insanity. His chance of survival was next to none.
But on the other hand, Brooklynn and the others will live. Hopefully they were down at the docks by any luck.
"Hey, Red Bull!" The Dino Nerd backed up against another pillar and then he picked up a rock and chucked it at the Red Bull's face, getting the large Carnotaurus to turn his massive head at him.
"Come and get it, you two horned red rooster!" he shouted tauntingly.
The Red Bull growled before roaring as he charged forth with open jaws.
"1, 2, 3!" Darius counted out loud before he tucked and rolled to the side as the Carnotaurus' massive head slammed into the pillar and then the Red Bull slammed face first into the cave wall.
The cave shook before the roof began to rain down boulders of massive size down on the Indominus and the Carnotaurus.
"Wow," Echo said in awe.
"Smart kid," Charlie commented.
"Better those two than us," Delta hissed, she turned to Blue. "Hungry?"
"I could eat," Blue snorted and with that, the Raptor Squad left the cave behind.
Meanwhile, Brooklynn returned back to the cave. "Darius!" she called out in concern. "Darius!"
Darius held his arms over his head to shield him from the falling rocks before spotting Brooklynn through the cloud of dust. Taking a deep breath, he ran towards her as fast he as could while dodging the falling rocks.
"Darius!" Brooklynn shouted upon seeing his figure in the dust.
But then Darius tripped on a rock, his body was soon buried under rocks bigger than his head.
"DARIUS! NO!" Brooklynn shouted and then without thinking, she ran into the cloud of dust.
And as quickly as it began, the rain of rocks ended.
Brooklynn coughed harshly as she ran to the rocks. "Darius!" she shouted as she began to dig through the rocks with her bare hands.
Behind her, Kenji and the others returned to the cave upon noticing Brooklynn's absence. They saw Brooklynn digging and ran over to help her dig.
Gasping, Brooklynn suddenly recoiled as she uncovered Darius's flattened head, blood and brain matter staining the rocks around him.
Kenji and the others saw what she found.
Sammy gasped, covering her mouth and began to cry.
Yaz grimaced and turned her head away, tears trailing down her cheeks before rising up to give Sammy a comforting hug. The Texan accepted the hug and began to cry loudly.
Kenji fell to his knees, feeling numb. It was one thing to helplessly watch Ben fall to his death with two Pteranodons after him and another to see the dead body of Darius.
Brooklynn began to cry herself as she picked Darius up and held him tightly.
An all too familiar roar suddenly echoed through the cave.
This snapped the Campers out of their grieving, while Brooklynn looked up with narrowed eyes. Thirty feet away, the rocks began to shift, some of the smaller ones rolling down to the floor from the movement.
Then out burst the massive Carnotaurus only lightly battered and bruised. The Red Bull turned his head to look at the remaining Campers before looking at the pile of rocks and boulders.
The rocks and boulders shifted ever so slightly but that's all they did. The Indominus Rex was trapped. If she wasn't dead now, she will soon be.
The Red Bull huffed before looking back at the human children.
The Campers all stood up, their sadness replaced by defiance as they stared back at the Carnotaurus.
The Red Bull glanced down at Darius Bowman's body and huffed, he seemed satisfied with Darius being dead before he turned away and began walking to the cave's entrance.
The Carnotaurus paused and glanced back at the four Campers, his landing on Brooklynn's eyes that held grief, defiance and something else.
The promise of vengeance.
The Red Bull snarled, rearing his head back before stomping his foot and roaring at the top of his lungs. His roar meant one thing that Brooklynn Colins seemed to understand.
I'll be waiting.
With Darius dead, surviving Isla Nublar without a dinosaur expert will prove to be more difficult for the Nublar Campers.
Impossible? Who knows. After all, humans can be resilient and stubborn.
We thought it'd be fun. We thought we'd be safe, Brooklynn recalled Darius's opening to a camp fire story that she regrets interrupting as she and the others traverse through the jungle. But we didn't realize the horror waiting for us on the island. Claws, teeth, screaming. . . So much screaming.
All the fences were now down. The dinosaurs were running free, all save for the Mosasaurus that swam in the Lagoon.
Brooklynn still felt grief for Darius but felt determined to ensure his sacrifice wasn't in vain.
Despite all the hardships, we'll never give up. We'll keep fighting. That's the promise we make every day we get.
We will survive. We will get back home.
